Ferrari's in Schenectady

Was not happy with the food. Their veal franchise was basically a burnt fried veal cutlet with butter and chunks of garlic on top. If youre looking for good old fashioned food I wouldnt recommend.

Food is still good. Not what it once was. Had a reservation for four, we were seated timely. The food wasnt really the problem. They kept adding tables to the dining room. They added a table for 4 and the only thing that separated the next table was a chair turned backwards. Then they added a separate table next to that, about 18 inches from my leg. Forget Covid, what if I have to stand up and use the bathroom, or maybe get my coat. I voiced my displeasure which was met with ambivalence.At these prices, you can ha e the same everywhere. After 31 yrs I wont be back.

It has been a very long time since weve been to Ferraris since we moved out of the area some time ago.The food was probably better than ever, the staff was fantastic and we loved the look and feel of the dining room.This will forever be a destination for us whenever we are back in the area.

It almost look close from outside, but Im glad we went to make sure. The lady at the bar was very nice very willing to help. We did a order to go. The food was very good. Cant wait to go back to dine in.I order a Bloody Mary and a strawberry prosecco was very please with her way of making them.

Excellent meal on 7/5 with friend. Chicken Antonio was absolutely delicious...tender chicken and layers of flavor in the accompanying sauce. Side of linguine with red sauce also delicious. Pasta cooked perfectly; and again, an array of flavors in the sauce. Loved my meal. Kudos to the chef! Cannot recall our servers name but she did a great job, as well as the young lady bussing tables. At no time did we feel rushed even though the dining room began filling up. Would order this dish again in a heartbeat!

Delicious Italian food. We went for lunch but ordered "to go" from the dinner menu, too. Very accommodating service. Restaurant usually doesnt do separate checks.

A very small but awesome family owned restaurant right in the heart of Schenectady County. One dinner will feed two people with plenty leftover. You better go with your appetite! The Eggplant Parmesan was ginormous 😊❤️❤️❤️😋😋😋 and yummy yummy 😋! The sides were ridiculously good and large. I mean like a dinner plate large.

For $22+ a meal, I expected home made pasta and tomato sauce that was out of this world.In my opinion, the tomato sauce was very bland and runny.The sides of pasta you get with a dish are boiled boxed noodles covered in bland sauce. Ive made better sides of pasta myself at home with store bought noodles and pasta. I dont think any of their noodles are home made, unless one of the other dishes that we didnt order were.I had the veal. While it was a huge portion, it felt like it was pulled from the refrigerator and heated up. Again, for $22, I would expect it to be freshly cooked.My wife had the cheese stuffed shells with sausage and meatballs. It tasted like something you buy in the freezer section of the grocery store heated up. Something was off with the taste of the sausage and meatballs as well.The one thing we did absolutely love was the appetizer of Italian Home Fries.They served cold, hard packaged butter with the garlic bread and the salads were okay. But again, for the prices they are charging, I expected fresh hot bread, warm smooth butter, and a little more finesse.I think the reason they have so many good reviews are due from locals who want to see the place do well no matter what.Based on prior reviews, my guess is that this place was actually banging back in the day, but something happened in the last several years that caused a decline.

Their sauce is delicious. Themeatballs and rigatoni were great. Cooked to perfection. Very nice salad with roasted red peppers, cubed cheese, celery, black olives and tomatoes. Great Italian bread too.The service is superb!

The food is great, you get a lot and its great. We went for my wifes 30th bday and the server was awful. She brought our food out and we never saw her again. We realized she wasnt coming back so we could hurry up and finish and not ask for anymore drinks. When we were finished her and the busser just kept on smirking at us. If you go dont get the rotund girl with glasses.

Always amazing food, homemade pasta on request. Fair pricing and wonderful service. Down and dirty rustic Italian as if you were invited to family dinner.

Dont let the outside and bar fool you - the dining room is nice. Classic Italian fare, good service, priced appropriately. Recommended and wed go back.

If your looking for a homestyle Italian meal this is the place. Im from out of town and feel like I hit the jackpot with this place. Great price for the portions, homemade pasta....need I say more!

Its SO RARE to see such team work in a busy restaurant! This experience was Amazing! Each staff member complimented the next one! Its like a well oiled machine in there! Not one table waited for food and the food was spot on!! The owners should be VERY PROUD!! Also.. It was the first time in years i did not see 1 staff member paying attention to thier cell phone.. Instead.. They were paying attention to the guests! Bravo to all of thier staff!

Portions were huge and staff were exceptional. Im still dreaming about the hot antipasto! Cant wait to take the whole family!

Ferraris is excellent. They have a Wed special of Spaghetti & meatballs or sausage or one of each, including an excellent salad & bread & butter for $8.99.I have gone here for years & I have never had a bad experience. I love their home sauce & meatballs. EXCELLENT!

The service was good and the atmosphere was cozy. I chose this place due to all the great reviews it received on the 518 foodie page. The portion sizes were huge. The foodie page was raving about the chicken parm I was expecting melt in your mouth delicious it was good bit didnt melt in your mouth like I hoped it would and there amazing sauce just tasted like marinara with a hint of garlic and basil again good but with the hype I expected more. The bread was not warm which I expected from the reviews I read but it was soft and tasted like traditional Italian bread. Im picky with my salad didnt like the olives or red peppers in the salad not a big deal tho just picked them out. The dressing choices were alittle limited my favorites are ranch & honey mustard neither was a option. It was blue cheese, Russian and reg Italian Im more of a creamy Italian fan. We dont usually go to Schenectady for restaurants but we decided to try and not sure if u will go back to Ferraris.

Good authentic Italian dinner. I had the lasagna the pasta was as far as I could tell was hand made. This was pleasantly surprising and the sauce not overly embellished with spices.Great atmosphere well worth the trip.

I called very last minute to have a catering order put together for about 10 people, trying to help out my friends who lost their father. The staff was incredibly accommodating and polite. The food was ready right on time. The family that received it raved about how delicious it was!For anyone reading this: please be aware that although it states delivery is available, they may not have a driver to do so(covid/staffing issues), so please ask before you assume so you dont end up upset!!Thank you so much for everything and not making me feel like it was inconvenient that I called last minute!

Take a decent appetite with you to Ferraris, because youre going to receive a lot of food. Its an old, established restaurant in an old neighborhood with on-street parking. The lack of fancy decor should not deter you from going, because you will have a delicious Italian meal at reasonable prices! I got the in-house made manicotti and my husband had the braciole. Both dinners came with a side salad and basket of bread. Dinner for 2 (with one glass of Chiantiwas less than $50.Schenectady is known for its red sauce restaurants. Ferraris sauce does what a sauce should do, it complements the dish, it doesnt overpower it with either too much sweetness or acidity.

Great local family run Italian restaurant. The food was really good and the service was great. Nathan was my server and he was super attentive and funny.

Went to Ferraris with my son for dinner this past weekend. They treat you like family. Colleen is the best bar server I have dealt with in many years. We literally had a great time. The food was awesome. Must try the clams casino and the calamari was perfect. We will return only if Colleen and Mogan are on the job that night.

Amazing authentic Italian food. The staff was amazing. Probably the best piece of haddocki have had in years. And the cream puff was terrific.

Incredible, Delicious...waitress was phenomenal 35-40 patrons and never missed a beat. FOOD was as if we where vacationing in Italy 🇮🇹 again, all freshly made pastas, I think on premises, veal parm & ravioli where delightful...anchovies on bread w/ salad, yum/yum, then if that wasnt enough I added sausage & meatballs with meal...too say the least, though we r traveling & live in Florida, the 2 of us took enough home for 2nites dinner & of course dessert of humongous Cream Puff & Carrot Cake... 😉. If there was a negative it was when I saw HRC pic in bar... oh well it was still 👍great 👍. Thanks.

Disgusting slop they serve if you want overpriced dry old no flavor good come here. Trust me you will be disappointed. They do not use any seasoning. The sauce is complete water. This seriously is such a disgusting place. I also have contacted the Heath department. Dead flys all over the ground. They do not clean well at all. Straight up disgusting

Tried this place some years ago and have never gone back. Well we tried it again because so many people we know say the food is great. Well I was right. The food is not what it should be. Eggplant parmesan was mushy and bland. Boyfriends fettuccine Alfredo was watery with absolutely no flavor and the fettuccine was way over cooked. Only thing that I enjoyed was the side of sauce. Waste of money. Very disappointed.

I’m from Arizona, Ferrari’s had been my favorite restaurant since I was a little girl! So any time we come to visit it’s a must! This year we came to celebrate my dads birthday and everything was just amazing in every aspect! Frankie our waitress was just amazing and so patient (you would understand if you knew my family😅for ever one of my favorites and must!

We went there for my birthday dinner. I had red wine, the shrimp and veal Francese. My boyfriend had the chicken parm and my son had pasta. All the food was amazing and HUGE servings. Our server sang happy birthday and brought me the biggest and best cream puff Ive ever had. I mean the BEST! Highly recommend.

Amazing food and great service. Ive only ever taken food to go, and theyre ALWAYS busy when I pick up my food, but they always take those extra few seconds to really connect with their customers. Such a great experience with staff as well as food!

Excellent, delicious, flavorful. Whether we eat in or take out, all the food comes from the kitchen and it NEVER disappoints! We just had take out, and each dish was carefully prepared, pasta cooked perfectly, salad and homemade dressing fantastic, the veal and chicken were both so tender, the meatballs always delicious, and their red sauce is perfect! Highly suggest if youve never been, you definitely give them a try for the best authentic Italian around!

This place has been here for over 70 years. I think its the BEST Italian restaurant in Schenectady.

This is a well-established family run business that managed, so far, to make it through the craziness of 2020. We decided to try out a different Italian restaurant in Schenectady instead of one we frequent quite often. This was fabulous. The 4 of us had delicious home cooked meals, a limited wine selection, specials were offered, friendly waitstaff and no rush on getting us in and out. We had a very nice leisurely dinner for my birthday celebration. To top it all off, the restaurant treated me to a duo sliced cake selection of carrot and chocolate. Yummy! We will definitely be back at a later date to try other items on the menu.

What a dinner!! Ferraris is a gem and if youve never been...what are you waiting for? Theres not a bad choice on the menu. In fact, there are too many delicious choices.

Great service awesome portions and Beyond awesome food

Came here on a first date this past weekend and I had never been before. Have NOT stopped raving about how DELICIOUS the food was!!! The best Italian I have had in... ages really. Truly phenomenal food. Ive told everyone to go. The service was also great, I loved our waiter. Everyone was very friendly and I loved the small, family atmosphere [even though I was on a semi awkward date, that I think went well. Food helped.] Cant wait to come back and try another dish!

Great Place to bring your family or a nice Date night Resturant. Delicious AUTHENTIC Italian food. Everything was cooked to order with fresh ingredients. I order the Veal Parmigarno and the Veal Parmigarno topped with eggplant. It was absolutely delicious the Veal was cooked perfectly and the sauce was the best Ive ever had. For the appetizer we had Roasted Peppers and Provolone cheese. Both paired together with a glass a red wine was perfect. The ambiance of the restaurant made me feel warm as if I were at mothers home. But the front of the Resturant seemed like we walked in to scene from goodfellas lol. Overall great experience and a must go in the capital region.

This one has me so overwhelmed I am not sure where to start! Show at Proctors and my old favorite under new ownership and a big disappointment last time. My daughters research and great reviews brought us to Ferrari’s.We called, explained we were seeing a show at Proctors Theater and asked what time the we should make reservations for to be out in time. We were told 6 would get us there in plenty of time.Arriving shortly after 6, we called and advised because of traffic. In hindsight not sure that mattered as numerous parties with 6 pm reservations were standing in the very crowded bar area. No hostess just upset customers. No comment from the two bartenders that were waiting on 8-10 seats at the bar. At 6:20, Aunt Maria appears and as several customers bombarded her with I have 6 pm reservations. She responded with “I am Aunt Maria, you can’t get mad at me”. She broke into song and then proceeded to tell one customer “relax, you are going to get fed”. I do appreciate because of the show we got taken in first.Now inside, she takes our party of 3 to a 6 top. Are you sure this is where you want us, there are only 3 of us. We were then told “no, you made a reservation for 5”. We countered with why would we do that when only 3 of us? Going back to her notes told us we were right. It is now 6:35 and we are finally seated. Dress warm with layers. It was freezing below vents and when kicked off became comfortable.Wait staff immediately served a bread basket with Villas and another delicious option, butter at the bottom. Requiring you to touch all of the other bread to get to it.... once you find it. Waitress quickly took our drink order and dinner order. We explained the show time was 8. She assured us no worries. Salads were brought out quickly. Dinner was served at 7:20. The restaurant seemed very loud but in part may have been the three children who were completely disrespecting nana and papa over dinner. Or the gentleman who continuously farted so loud and so long that we would turn in disbelief. I gave the credit card when the waitress served dinner to expedite process. Clearly no time for eating, coffee or thought of dessert as we needed to drive to theater, find parking and get to seats before 8. We inhaled dinner which was VeRY large servings but not everything I thought would be for the reviews I had read. Plate size piece of chicken, personally would have preferred more cheese less chicken. It was so thin not a lot of flavor in little chicken I ate. Sauce was delicious but sparse on my pasta. Ironically they offered more for the left overs when boxed up! My daughter enjoyed her Alfredo. Boxed up and running from the restaurant we raced to Proctors. We made it to our seats at 7:59. Not the relaxing evening out we had hoped. When I raised the question, would you want to try it again on the way home the radio silence spoke volumes.

Been here many times in the past ten years. The salad that comes out with the bread is one of the best Ive ever had. A nice mix of lettuce, tomatoes, onion, etc. but they add roasted red peppers, little chucks of provolone and pieces of celery that really make this a stand out salad. The bread basket includes the standard Italian bread ( though never warmedand another bread with olive oil and seasoning to it. Both are great. I usually get the veal parm and it is good but Ive also tried the ravioli and the stuffed shells which are also very good. The linguine with their house red sauce is really good as well. A solid local Italian place good for lunch and/or dinner. Give them a try and see what you think.

Great atmosphere and good food. The petina of the place is great. Very cosy inside. Dont be put off by the nearby suburbs .which are a bit run down. Very large portions.

The best Italian food I have ever had. A family run restaurant since 1912. The portions were huge, incredibly fresh and just a perfect evening with my girl! The wait staff was very attentive but not so much it felt like they were bothering us. The perfect amount of attention!

My bf took me here for the first time this past Valentines and it was wonderful. Many servers arent too nice when you eat out on holidays, but right from walking in the door until we walked out, we felt very welcomed. Food was amazing, our server was wonderful & I now understand why its so busy all the time. Everything from the decor/atmosphere to the food & the service was wonderful & welcoming, comforting & kind. Cant WAIT to go back!

When you first get there, the outside appearance will make you think twice, because its in an old building, in a questionable area. Once you get past that, its a good place to eat. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. The menu has a varied selection, offering something for everyone. The portions are HUGE! Almost everyone in our party took food home. Everything we had was good, although they cooked with too much garlic for my tastes. Other than than, it was an enjoyable experience.
