Fensham Reserve - Park and Garden in Masterton, New Zealand
A fantastic remnant of bush just a short drive from Carterton. Great little tracks to enjoy the bush.
A lovely reserve with beautiful punga and rimu growing wild. A great track also with a splendid view of the hills. Enjoyed this with wonderful company.
Great walk through NZ bush. Choice of walk duration to suit all fitness levels.
When looking up dog friendly walks, perhaps dont put Fensham Reserve as one. Drove all the way out here to read a sign that says no dogs allowed.
Stunning little forest reserve. Family friendly in some areas and a bit more difficult in others.
Lovely bush, huge miro and totara. Lots of tui, fantails and waxeyes. Interesting fungi. Nice 1hr circuit walk. Well worth a visit.
Great walk in Mother nature
Loved our walk in the ngahere (bush). It showered during our walk but it was still enjoyable. Some beautiful views at the clearings. Do suggest reading the map before setting off!
Lovely bush walk, the track is well maintained and quite narrow encouraging the bush, in places, to close overhead to give a feeling of being in a bush tunnel. The mature forest is quite stunning with humungous Matai trees. One of the best short walks in NZ.
Great short bush walk, has loads of wild life and some old trees on the walk
What an awesome find. I have lived in the Wairarapa all my working life. Today I experienced this lovely place - peace, serenity, nature Wow thank you - AND thank you to all the caring people that maintain the tracks and have a big heart for this reserve. I will certainly be promoting it !! Xx Bev
Lovely reserve with a lot of bush variety in a relatively small stand. I love loop tracks and this is a good one. We started on Cobden Rd and took the track to the right. With a 3 and a 6 year old it took longer than the predicted 1 hour (probably 2 or 2.5but was achievable and enjoyable for all.Lovely remnant forest patches and a few delightfully noisy tūī keeping us company.Recommended :)
Great walk. Well maintained. Nice boardwalks. Easy 1hr walk. Lots of signs telling which way to go.
Great walk and views.
It is a lovely walk with a couple of picnic areas. Great for families and younger children.
Beautiful and glorious natural wonderland!
Saw a karearea flying along the track ahead of us.
Wonderful bush walk kids loved it and definitely be back
Country side close to Carterton

Nice quiet place to enjoy nature close to parking
Needs more clear Walking directions
A gem in Cartertons crown.. what an amazing destination.
Nice walk, most enjoyable
Absolutely beautiful walk. Great diversity in plant life. Highly recommend the visit!
Great place to walk with the family. My 3year old daughter walked entire circuit just under 1hr.
Great walk. Bit muddy in a few spots after rain but....what do you expect!?
Lovely easy walk through the forest and gorgeous views from lookout.
This was great
Beautiful walk
Awesome little treasure, lots of tui and beautiful views.
Extremely well maintained bush walk through amazing native forest. Some trees seem to be older than the first settlement of humans in New Zealand. Watch for trees, birds and bees.
Lovely little forest, pleasant trail with lots of ups and downs.
Amazing walk through primeval native forest. Track well looked after and trees identified by plaques.. a climb to the look out would be a challenge to the unfit, yet the view is great... worth a visit
Beautiful reserve close to the city. If you are a nature enthusiast, you will love this place. Tracks are well maintained and marked. Circuit walk will take about 1 hour. But give extra time to enjoy and embrace huge trees. We spotted kereru, falcons and around 10 different varieties of mushrooms(I have never seen many of those varieties. Great effort by everyone who is taking care of this gorgeous reserve.
Lovely unique stand of Bush well maintained tracks thanks to Twigs & Tweets
A lovely walk.
Amazing walk today with our boys.
One of the greatest reserves in the Wairarapa. Thanks to whoever the rich guy was that gifted it so us peasants could have a roam
Excellent one hour tramp, whether to keep fitness up, or admire the bush, lots of variety in a small place. Pity they dont allow dogs.
Beautiful bush reserve with well marked trails including board walks & steps
What a great place to take kids for a walk!! Notice; is NOT push chair friendly. But it is still a fantastic walk.
A number of great bush walks ranging from 40 minutes to a couple of hours.
Enough ups and downs to break out a sweat if you want a scenic work out, beautiful well kept tracks with amazing views along the way
5 min drive from Carterton for a nice run or walk. Primo
I was looking for a vertical component to my daily walks, and I found it here!
Great walk here, 3 different lengths of walk, I like the long walk best. Nice resting area after about 30 minutes.
