Jl. Lada Dalam No.7, RT.7/RW.7, Pinangsia, Kec. Taman Sari, Kota Jakarta Barat, Daerah Khusus Ibukota Jakarta 11110, Indonesia, Jakarta
Bustling city square surrounded by historic buildings & museums, with frequent street performances.
Enjoy going there from time to time... Usually eat at Café Batavia. Nearby Mercure hotel is interesting
A little overrated. Especially the flower dome was disappointing. The light/music show in the evening is entertaining though
Best experience for explore Jakarta
One of the most iconic place in Jakarta. People often call it "Kota Tua Jakarta" because you can feel the colonial era of Jakarta. Fatahillah square is in the center of this area.A lot of tourist attractions in this site such as live music and some attractions.Theres a art and bank museum still use this buildings.
The old town of Jakarta, you can enjoy the heritage building of batavia era. Dont forget to visit the museum, there are any some museum.
The center of Batavian Governor Office where you can feel how was living in the past of colonial era in Jakarta. This Neighborhood once called Kota Tua which is a remainder of Old Batavia, the first walled settlement of the Dutch in Jakarta area. It was an inner walled city with its own Castle. The area gained importance during the 17th-19th century when it was established as the de facto capital of the Dutch East Indies. This inner walled city contrasted with the surrounding villages, orchards, and rice fields. Dubbed "The Jewel of Asia" in the 16th century by European sailors, the area was a center of commerce due to its strategic location within the spice trade industry in the archipelago.
One of the best place if you wanna go to Jakarta, just enjoy the vibes of old colonial buildings here. No need to pay a penny, just logging in with your Peduli Lindungi apps. You can visit this place with your bicycle too
This is an iconic place in the old town of Jakarta, and we called it Kota Tua Jakarta. The buildings came from European architecture, which was built hundreds of years ago. It has become a part of our history and a legacy from the past.
Kota Tua, or "Jakarta Old Town" (Englishand "Oud Batavia" (Dutch), centered on Fatahillah square is now a lively place with traditional attractions, handicraft vendors, fortune tellers, food vendors and bicycle rental. There is no charge to enter this area. So that even during a pandemic like this, this place in the morning, afternoon and evening remains a recreational destination for local travelers. In the holiday season and weekends it will be more crowded.
a little bit crowded, but the atmosphere is very good. The best time you must come after 4 pm.
this is a heritage place, very beautiful, I really enjoyed when was here, this place suitable for kids, teen and olds
One of the most charming spots in the Indonesian capital. Its simple yet Instagrammable, to say the least. Visit the place in the morning if you want to avoid the crowd.
A must place to visit for foreigners. An area where the old Dutch collonial buildings are still preserved, but still its slowly starting to break down because of the lack of care from the Indonesian people. So I hope that people still have the chance to visit this place before its gone...
Very interesting place, I would say a must place to visit in Jakarta. Although its not a place to visit for long time, but its good for a walk and relaxing time. Many street artists wearing interesting costume and performing. You can rent a bike and cycle around. There are some restaurants around. there are also many colonial buildings. However, the weather can be quite hot there.
This is a heritage place. Very beautiful. I really enjoyed when i was there.. this place is suitable for kids , teens and old.. You have to be careful with pickpockets. This is a great place for selfies. The place is very close to the relics of colonialism
Best place in Jakarta to see how Batavia in old times. You can ride a Biycyle or enjoy traditional street foods. There are many museums around here if you mind to visit
Its great to see Indonesian historical places like this one, always gives me chill
This is a favorite place for all foreign guests from the Java Private Tour, many things they can learn and know here, ranging from painting, architecture, history, culture, and even culinary. Thank you Fatahillah Square for supporting Indonesian tourism.
The dutch influence in this plaza is still very much peeserved. There are plenty of things to do here like riding a bike, taking pictures with the pigeons & colonial era cannons. There are different kinds of artists around the plaza. Tou can get a tattoo or have a picture with costume players. You can also find old dutch buildings repurposed into cafes. Just note that thsse cafes are a bit on the expensive side because it is in a prime location. If you walk further out you can find cheaped place to eat.
Check out photo i posted here. In Friday night, after working, i love spend night here. In the middle of the building, there is open space and tile layers. It is clean and u can sit with your love one at night (till 10 pmwhile enjoying lice music. Most people sit there and chatting. U also can stare the night sky and cover by stars. Have a good weekend
Kota Tua is one of great places to visit in Jakarta. You can go here by Commuter Line. Here, you will see many old buildings and museum, a nice place to take some pics. You can also find many traditional food stalls. But make sure that you go here before noon, because it was so hot when I arrived there (about 11 am).
The square is crowded during the Chris day. Many street Hawkers selling food and souvenirs.. better don’t try to eat if you have weak stomach. You can rent their bicycle to cycle around. Sometime there’s the street performer there to perform their music. Some cafes and restaurants surround the square. This is a typical square used for some rallies in the past for election or war..
Always packed, day and night. Quite dark when night comes, no enough lights. Better visit here in the afternoon, you can rent bikes and taking pics with pigeons. The mini market is more expensive than usual.
Never been bored to be here. This old city is the wonderful place to visit with art deco building. Fully of history. No matter visiting time, morning, noon, and evening U will be be amazed of this place..Bellow my self picture taken by Canon 6D.
Great place to spend weekend. Many food stalls around the area. Street food are not so expensive, I’ve got pecel for only 15.000. Free to enter the area. Better to carry your own water bottle because most of the sellers are using single use plastic. The area has big potential to attract more international tourists if it’s get managed well.
A nice and cozy square. One of the few locations where you can get an idea of the old colonial Batavia. On the square are a few interesting museums, the well-known Café Batavia, and the Jagur cannon. It is also a square where the residents of Jakarta gather for a pleasant gathering. For example, you can rent a bike here to ride a few safe laps for fun. A rare piece of attractive Jakarta.
It’s pretty and crowded. The colorful bikes are such an eye catching. There’s a KFC and post office nearby which is good if you wanna send postcard. The hilarious thing about Indonesia is I found a lots of souvenir shop which sell beautiful postcard everywhere but they don’t sell stamp. Tips for postcard lovers, buy your desire postcard from those souvenir shop and get the stamp from the post office. Don’t expect to buy the postcard at the post office since the postcard there are super limited and the photo on the postcard are in horrible quality.
You must visit this place to know more about Jakarta. They already use more technology for the museum. I hope it will always get better so people will love to visit museums. The ticket price is cheap and they have a special price for students.
Love the surrounding, museums and collonial style buildungs, with lots of restaurants, street side vendors. During weekend full of local crowds visiting. Beautiful spots for those who like photography especially on sunset
I mean where would you go in Jakarta that has that old town vibe other than at old town Jakarta and Fatahillah Square. It used to be so dirty but it was all neat and organized now. The ambience was great and catching sunset from here is pretty nice too.Get a free bus ride from National Monument entrance to Fatahillah square for free. It runs both ways. And its more convenient than taxy. The bus are all new and they have the double decker one so you can view the city better while sitting in the bus. From Fatahillah, the free bus runs from BNI office. Their last bus is at around 5/6pm in the evening. If youre photographer or just wanted to get some nice views, this place is perfect.
Nice place to visit.Part of the Old Town in European style, with Old houses, Old city hall (musemand stylish restaurant around the big Square. If you want to See how Batavia looked like, want to know a bit of history of Jakarta (cheap and interesting museum ), want to ride a bike or simply have a beer or meal in the restaurant from the beginning of XX century - you should totally visit this place.Dont forget to pop into this Old bar out there - it is definitely worth seeing.
This was a cool place to be... Although the people are not really English speaking, they are happy to point you where this place exactly is just through gestures! This square is a melting pot of heritage buildings... There are cute neon bicycles with headpieces for rent at a cheap price [sorry I forgot the exact amount] but budget travellers can surely afford it😅 At night, the square lights up, bands appear, and food stalls too! This is a definite MUST SEE in Jakarta! If yoy have a short layover, go visit this...
Well known as Kota Tua, or is it just me? Lol. Anyway, the place has a great ambiance, its old but beautiful:the buildings, music, attraction, artist, even the cafe nearby. We can learn a lot about Batavia history as there are many museums around. We can also rent a bike there. The place is near Jakarta Tua station. Tips from me,if you interested with Kota Tua history please join a walking tour, one of them is Jakarta Good Guide, you will able to know the place from Sunda Kelapa harbour, Jakarta Kota St., Fatahilah Sq., etc.
With the real name Jakarta Historical Museum, this old building stands incredibly stunning as a Kota Tua Landmark, near Fatahillah park. Pay less than Rp 10.000 per museum, you can visit and learn about this amazing old town. You can try out various street food and watch street art or ride Delman. Prefer visit on weekdays, weekend is okay but so crowded.
Great place. Historical place at jakarta. Old building complex located in the center of the old city of Jakarta. for traveler this complex must be visited. we can walk around this complex by borrowing bicycle that is provided for rent. Very crowded in weekends and holiday seasons. we can meet many of artists around this area and take foto with them.
The place was nice and interesting its offer you Old Jakarta atmosphere. You can learn about Indonesian history here. If you plan to come here come after lunch, visit the museum then enjoy the square open area later in the afternoon by bicycle.
This place is historical. The ambience is so festive because of the government had changed it into a public space. The front yard of the used tobe governours office is so spacious. There are so many attaractions happen around here. You can rent an old bike and ride along also rent the attire so you can have a blast from the past.
A central place in Old Jakarta to just sit and watch people go by. Lined with beautiful old houses. Was there near sunset and nice temperature to relax. One of the main activiyies is people renting voloured bikes and tour the place. The bikes seem to come with big hats for the ladies to wear. Brings one immediately back in the olden days.
The most interesting part of the town beautiful lively and very interesting. Must visit. Though cut out the museums if you can they are not worth the money.
The iconic of jakarta. It concist of many place like taman fatahillah, kota tua, batavia resto, and many others. In the noon day you can take a picture by loan a bicycle or a hat. In the night day you can enjoy the beautiful of light from lamps. Don’t forget to come here. It open 24 hours. But still keep your things safety.
Surprisingly clean and decent. Parking lot is limited but operated with a working system. More feature could be added in the future such as adding more exhibitions or gallery but would say that this is a good start. As there is no tree and it seems that there is no more space (tiledfor planting any, a hot day must be scorching hot.
This is an iconic place of Jakartas past. The huge square is great for families and just to enjoy the museums and environment. Fatahillah Square is a somber reminder of Dutch occupation. Great history for young ones and young adults can relax in the wide open spaces.
The historical site founded by the Dutch and now become the most favorite place to hang out for locals. There are some artistical performance by local artist. A lot of restaurants also around this place. The location is easily reached by public transport such as Bus and MRT Commuter Line.
This place is very lively on the weekend! Please take care of yourself when visiting this square since all kind of locals and tourists can flock around the area. There is live music, tattoo artists, bicycle rental, and snack vendors. If youre trying to hunt some photos, try to go there at 14:00 - 16:00 since itll be crowded and youll notice a lot of different types of crowds. If youre aiming for landscape photos, visit at 09:00 - 11:00. But be careful, the weather might be not as nice as it seems since the square doesnt have any big trees to cool down the heat.
Great place, several museums are located here. More knowledge about history of Jakarta city, good for children.
you can see the youth of jakarta hanging out there, whether they are muslims or buddhists. it is more like an art place, live music and drawings are seen. one can make friends with anyone there. really cool place. i hope such places will increase in jakarta.
Visit this place if you like museums and historic buildings. lots of Street vendors selling tasty food, beware if your not used to eating Street food. Museums are not kept well, state of museums are below par but watchable. Square gets super hot during mid day, make sure you carry an umbrella.
The historic core of old Jakarta is known today as Kota. most impressive historic buildings are to be found here. Taman Fatahillah (Fatahillah Squareis the centre of the old city. The early eighteenth century Batavia Town Hall is here. almost a year to re-pave the main square.Facing the square is the infamous Jakarta History Museum. Opposite the street from Jakarta History Museum is the Arts and Ceramic Museum. You can even try the ceramic workshop inside. It has a saturday cheap market near Cafe Batavia.
Pros1. The Jakarta old square, crowded and nice atmosphere2. Bike and explore the square , is recommended activities to do3. Seeing the light parade at the night is recommended to seeCons1. The food stall and the people sold the the mobile photo holder, wipes, and other so so disturbing at the entrance of the Kota Tua Area, they need proper place2. Actually The cafe and toilet only maximum 1 km away, but so difficult going there. Thanks for crowded and undisciplined visitor
