Fat Hill Brewing in Mason City

The taproom space is legit. Really nice layout and use of space. Unfortunately the proverbial carpet (beerdoesnt match the drapes. Beer we tried was just ok, tried an IPA and pale ale. Cant help wonder if the beer lines are not as clean as I would hope. Going with 4 stars as maybe it was just our choice of beers and will try something else if I return to Mason City.

Great beer, atmosphere and owners! They always have such cool things going on too. Music, book clubs, bingo and other fun one-off events.

Visiting Mason City from Utah and I have a hobby of visiting any local breweries I can find when traveling, so I had to stop in Fat Hill Brewing. The decor was amazing, the atmosphere was super fun and inviting, and the employees were incredibly friendly, but the best part was that after a flight and several pints of different varieties, there wasn’t a single beer that I didn’t fawn over. I was particularly fond of their Rongorongo NEIPA, but the German lager with honey, sour ale, smoked stout, porter and more were all winners. If you’re a craft beer enthusiast and you find yourself in or around Mason City, this is absolutely worth a stop with a growler or two in hand.

I went to Fat Hill to meet some friends. I ordered a drink that was not to my liking at all. I asked the bartender if she could please switch it to something else hoping she would help me out. Her response was, "No, cant you give it to a friend?" Ill never go back. I ended up drinking a water until my friends drank their beer and we all left.

The beer is fantastic. They offer a wide varieties of styles, so youll be sure to find one you like. There are ciders too, if thats more your thing. The staff is exceptionally friendly.

Excellent variety of tasty beers, plenty of space, friendly staff, on-demand fresh crowlers available for anything on tap, plenty of nearby parking. Nice view of the brewing facilities.

First of all I am in Mason city for business. The staff was amazing, friendly and hard working! I ordered the flight with 4 great beers! Usually I order a flight and I won’t like 1-2 of the beers, but they were all really good! I would totally recommend Fat Hill Brewing. And the ‘pop-up’ pizza by Cafe Mir was very good as well! Thanks for the yummy experience in Mason City!

Great beer and awesome facility in Mason City. Lots of space and good people. The Rongo Rongo is my favorite. We stop in every time we are in town visiting family.

Loved the atmosphere and decor. Good beer and great entertainment the night I was there, Fernando Ufret! Fantastic! Only 4 stars because the place is quite loud (all hard-surfaces makes the sound bounce around making it hard to talk to those around you).

The smell of yeast and hops greet you at the door. But, soon after your first glass you no longer notice. Your taste buds are just too happy to care.

Fat Hill is quite neighborly. The beer is great, the root beer too! Women and men talked, drank beer, gathered at table for crafts, or for intimate conversation. The long bar backed by the tall stone wall makes this place feel just right!

Love this place! Owners are very nice and welcoming. The staff are great. Beer is excellant!! The honey kolsch is made with local honey from one of the staff members. Nice place to spend some time drinking a good craft beer and listening to the talent sing. My favorite local place to go!!

Great addition to the North Central Iowa beer scene. Im finding their brews better with every visit. Awesome special events that keep me coming back and one of the best taproom spaces in Iowa.

The best place for great Craft Beers in the area. Always new brews and great flavor to keep your taste buds wanting more. I frequent this fine establishment​ and recommend it to all my friends and family. They also have card and board games to keep you occupied until the rest of your party arrives or play as a group. The beer here is good, with a great variety. The brewery itself could use a few things on the walls, but its great for meeting up with people or a night out on the town.
