8 Chapel Bar, Nottingham NG1 6JQ, Nottingham
Modern dark wood bar over 2 levels with informal dining from an eclectic menu, dance floor and DJs.
Very mediocre meal. Staff very efficient and accommodating
Great bar/restaurant, food was excellent, good choice of drinks, staff are friendly and helpful. We loved our visit.Would definitely recommend 👌
Hairy food and a rude staff.Gross.
Delicious! Very good service too! ☺️
Went to bottomless brunch at fat cat, it was such a good deal! The waiter was so nice and very attentive, our drinks were always full and the food was great. Thank you 😊
Didnt realise they dont open til 4.00pm on a Wednesday or Thursday.
Half price Sundays Nice
Sunday lunch was nice , good value, friendly service but gor me it was far too noisy for a lunchtime meal, we couldnt hear each other talk.
Can’t go wrong with the prices here, especially with the deals and more so the student deals. Would say that this deffo attracts some sketchy behaviour into fat cats. If you’re coming for a fancy meal it ain’t it, even tho it looks nice inside, they put it on. But if you’re after good cheap food you’re going to the right place.
Nice clean place, with a good choice of drinks, friendly staff.
Great Sunday afternoon out and a bonus as Beer is half-price and same on some of the food menu.
I have too say food is fantastic! , service was great and friendly staff.. but!!!! The place was freezing! It was -2 outside it was warmer out there, we had to put coats on to eat our dinners , we even went to toilets to warm our hands on hand dryers.. but they where blowing cold air, there was no hot water .
The only problem and it is a pro I am, is that they turn the music up too loud and everyone has to shout to talk. I did ask if theyd consider turning it down but got no response. Such a shame.
Great dinner for our group, had a few drinks and we will definately go again, our compliments to the Chef!!!
Pretty disappointing. Not a great atmosphere (midnight on a Sat night), and I was charged £9.50 for a single gin and tonic and a ginger beer, which is pretty outrageous! I paid about £6 for the same thing at Pepper Rocks.
Very good, in nice surroundings. Great value on Sundays, 50% off food and drink
Disappointing...The food was subpar. Even with the 50% off Sunday deal I dont think the value was great. Really underwhelming for food. I would actually go as far as saying that a hungry horse chain pub does better food.It has a nice relaxed vibe and works well as a bar but not much else. The staff, although helpful, lacked some key customer service skills. Though this is really only an issue if you view the venue as a restaurant.Even with the 50% off, I dont think we will be returning here for food.I wish I could say something more positive
Had lovely experience today at fatcat staff are very friendlyNicole the manager was lovelyCan not fault place, meals was really niceI sh
Nice place but i ordered a fruit salad cocktail but think it was wrong tasted nothing like fruit salad just ice and dark looking nothing like fruit salad I also ordered cider strongbow but wasnt expecting dark fruit for the price I paid wasnt happy about it 😔
Security were rude. We didn’t get served for a long time after getting in. The girl that was going around offering jäger bombs gave me 4 when I asked for 2. The only thing that made the experience good was the friends that were there with me. Would not recommend.
A group of us went for the bottomless brunch and the staff were fabulous! The glasses didnt stay empty for longer than 10 seconds before they were back refilling!Would recommend to anyone wanting to get out and feel Covid safe and looked after.
I live near Peterborough, We visited last year when a friend from Crete was home to see family, and couldnt come earlier because of Covid 19, So we came again to meet her yesterday and it was perfect, we ate outside, all hygiene measures were in place. The food as good as ever and the staff brilliant, There was a new member of staff, who was so attentive and helpful. Very professional, and a great sense of humour. Wish I was 30 years younger 😂 keep up the good work. Well be back
Bit disappointed when we went as they were waiting for a delivery of food, so loads not available, however, we were told about this before we sat down. What we were not told was the £1 per person per drink service charge which applied to the first drink. Bit cheeky that me thinks. Only stayed for 1 then moved on.
Not impressed this evening.Birthday meal for my father.Table booked for 8, just after we ordered our meals we were told that we had to be out by 6!!! Once the meal was served the standard was very poor, the service was not done with a smile and we felt like we were being rushed, not once were we asked if everything was okay during our meal, maybe they were aware that the food was awful and sub standard !!!!, very disappointed and will never recommend or return
My first experience here was awful. To begin with on arrival our table wasnt ready as manager forgot to set it so had to wait 10-15 mins for our table to be ready. As we sat down we was waiting a hour to be asked if we was ordering food I had to ask a member of staff to come and take our order then we was told there was no sharers when the food final came i got not even a handful of chips and the chicken wigs wasnt fresh and was unpleasant so I didnt finish it. They then brought the birthday cake out with no plates and was waiting in the end we used napkins when it came to paying we had to split the bill but i needed to leave so i wanted to take mine off the bill staff couldnt work it out so had to get my calculator on my phone to help work out what I ordered which took about ten mins. From working in the restaurant industry the whole experience was shocking staff had no people skill what so ever will NOT be returning her for food again.
Decided after drinking here for 4 hours, that when my 28 year old girlfriend went to the bar, they would challenge her age, which is understandable, but she didnt have any with her, so she was told she couldnt buy herself a drink, but was allowed to buy me one. Absolutely bonkers and the manager even said that my girlfriend looked old enough, but she had to back her staff.
Popped here for a pint. Very glad we did.It was busy but the service was fast, prices were excellent.Lots of seating both inside and out.Didnt eat so cant comment, will be returning when next in the area.
Excellent service, delicious food and great deals. During weekdays students get fifty percent off their meal if they are able to produce identification of their academic position. We recieved our meals promptly and the waiting staff were very attentive and helpful. With the exception of one of our plates the rest were delectable and we were not charged for the meal that we were not satisfied with.
We had a fish finger sandwich and a glass of house wine as part of the lunch menu for 8.95. Food was lovely, wine not to my tasting but put a bit of lemonade in and it was fine. The only reason I havent given 5 stars is that we were seated straight away but I had to go up to the bar to order as no one came to take our order after a good 15mins of waiting....and it was practically empty.
Been here several times now and this will probably be my last time. Service was bad ordered at the bar eventually, bar staff very pleasant as normal. Only ordered sharing plater, due to past Melas being hit and miss.it was cold over cooked and inedible no cutlery given with the meals no check back on how the food was. This place needs to reset its standards and think what it wants to be if it just wants to be a party drinking pub selling cheap drink to adolescents, then stop serving food.If it wants to be a upscale restaurant then you must try harder, you have to walk past so many good bars and restaurants to get to fat cats it should be worth the effort. Sadly it is not.
Called in at 7pm on a Saturday night, the busiest night of the week. It is handy for our bus stop. Didnt have food so cant comment on that. The place was dead, there was no atmosphere and apart from a group of people upstairs there was only a very small number of tables occupied downstairs. All other pubs within a few hundred yards were packed. The one barmaid on duty looked bored and spent her time on her mobile phone. All in all a very disappointing city centre pub. When we left the barmaid and a friend were stood outside having a cigarette. That said it all really
This is one superb place to be in the day time or night time 2 4 1 on cocktails made to a very good standered by excellent friendly bar staff. I went into this place and never wanted to leave but unfortunately I had other plans in my day
Went to Fat Cat for a nice meal with some friends. I have been before and it has never disappointed. However, this experience has deterred me from returning. One starter was missing a key ingredient, it then took a while for us to be told they are out of stock. One of my friends meals was wrong, two meals were tasteless and dry. Overall left very upset and still hungry because we did not eat all the food due to the poor quality. Alas, the atmosphere was lovely, the prawn linguine was brilliant and the waitress was friendly and helpful despite the errors
Good food. Very good priced food at lunch times. Nice bar. Lacking in atmosphere however. Never many people in in evenings or lunches???Just visited again, 12.45pm, for lunch (Wednesday). The place was absolutely dead. Only two other tables in use. Music was on very quietly. Whole place seriously lacking in atmosphere. Food however was really good (burger / burrito). Real shame its not busier. Need to promote it somehow. Id change my review to a 3.5... purely on atmosphere...
Great service. Good choice of cocktails with helpful staff to offer guidance. Had a great time.
Food and service was dismal. I opted for the burrito, but instead of the curry powder being used during cooking as a seasoning it was just chucked on after so the food was really powdery. We had booked the table in advance for 4 of us but people who had arrived as walk-ins after us were getting served before us! As we sat at our table, one of the chairs was absolutely sodden, who knows what that was all about?!
Helpful staff. 241 cocktails and not too busy. I would say that its not for a younger crowd which I liked. There is a varied age range but mainly over 25 to 30s. Easy to just sit and have a chat with the girls. Beautiful gin cocktails, I had one with lime and basil. Beautiful. Drinking cocktails and getting a couple of my 5 a day in. Fabulous!
Brilliant function room! Booked for 21st birthday party. Great place to hold a party. The room was decorated brilliantly, the food lovely, great bar staff and DJ! The manager Paul looked after every detail for us. Thank you for an amazing night! Would definitely recommend this venue and use again! Nicky and family 👍
Some diverse opinions on here. Maybe some staff better than others. My experience was excellent. I was in at 4:30-5:30 so not busy, young guy serving. He was excellent, couldnt do enough, very attentive (American service standard). I had a steak ciabata and latte from the lunch menu. I was not expecting much and so was very happy with what I got. I like my steak rare so this was great for me, if you like it medium you may need to speak up. Chips were crisp and salad was fresh. Coffee was hot and so lasted a while. It was also freezing outside but they had the heat up and some great music on (speakers front of house so if you like it a little quieter I recommend a seat in the back). I would definitely come again.NB - transition over to 5:30 staff not so great. Gave up trying to get waitresss attention to pay the bill and left the cash on the table. Maybe a policy of no personal phones when working would be beneficial.
Loved the music. Least you dont have to listen to babys crying!!. Lovely ladys serving us. The lady whos 1st day it was today was amazing . Lovely and had a greeting smile. Food amazing! 23 pounds for 2 roasts and a bottle of wine. Great!! Deffo be back. Manager amazing always looks busy. Thankyou you make our Sundays great. Xxxx
Really nice food and drink, nice atmosphere and music. Just the service was so slow!
Do not book a private party here! Booked Xmas party for 70. We were served by one girl who had been there for just a couple of weeks and didnt know what was on the plates she was serving. Not her fault she tried her best but one waitress for 70 people is just ridiculous. When we started to get up and take food from the staging area to tables ourselves so it didnt get cold an extra waiter was provided. Bottles that were pre ordered for the tables didnt arrive until prompted and even then we had to fetch our own glasses. The management of this evening was just atrocious, couldnt organise a pee up in a brewery comes to mind!
Absolute rubbish food & service is just a joke. If you want over loud music & cocktails of mostly ice, this is your place. If you want decent food, drinkable wine & efficient service, DO NOT GO NEAR. Completely ruined our night out for 50 people. They havent a clue. And didnt seem very bothered. Words fail me.
I go there quite often, Ive tried almost the entire menu. They have a 50% discount on a wide selection of items on the menu (all starters, burgers and pizzas and most mainsfor students from Monday to Friday and for everyone on Sundays! The quality is usually pretty decent too! For example the Nachos comes at only £2.50 with the discount and burgers and pizzas are between £5 and £6 :)I liked a lot: Nachos, the Italian Pizza, Fat Cat Burger.I really didnt like: the fish&chips, king prawn linguine.
Can get very busy and the layout is awkward for getting to the bar, toilets downstairs would be better. The staff are really friendly and efficient, beer selection not bad, but missing some decent single malt whisky.
We went on bank holiday Sunday and was told we had to upstairs for food, when we got upstairs we was told to sit and wait for a table even though there was plenty available. We sat there for nearly 40 minutes before another member asked us if we were waiting for a table??Anyway eventually we we got a table, we then waited over 20 mins for a starter, we then ordered a main course which i had a sizzler when i asked if the food was alright and when i told the staff it wasnt great only warm and definitely not sizzling he said " yes i noticed this"so my feeling on this occasion was very very poor and the attitude of only one of your staff was disgustinglove the place normallySo Disappointed
I visited the place on Monday so it was relatively quiet. Service was excellent and I enjoyed the burger I ordered immensely. The retro music was thoroughly entertaining. Highly recommended.
Food isnt bad but service is always very iffy. Once one waitress complained to us about another customer saying how rude they were. Not really a conversation you want to have when you go for a meal somewhere. They have a lunch time promise of "less than 30mins guaranteed" not sure whether this is to be served in or to receive food but on another occasion we waited a long time for both and ended up having to leave as we were on our lunch break, the restaurant wasnt even busy! Theres a gentleman that works there who isnt very personable or friendly and makes you feel like youre putting him out. Wont be going again, would only recommend for a couple of drinks perhaps.
Have for many years eaten at Fat Cat, well lets say on and off for 20 yearsStaff are always pleasant, the quality of the food would change from Excellent to good, only had one bad experience. The staff Dealt with my complaint very well. Always enjoyed the wine.I visited the fat cat in Leeds, food was good but not so friendly, but this was many years ago.
Arrived for an early lunch, waitress was grumpy and unhelpful and we had to find our own menus. 40 minute wait for food, which when it arrived was not hot or particularly tasty. It was not busy, Id say a quarter of their capacity. So disappointed!
