White's Rd, Phoenix Park, Dublin 15, D15 TD50, Ireland, Ros Comain
Restored, 18th-century state guest house on 78 acres, with gardens, guided tours & a boathouse cafe.
Beautiful garden and beautiful house. We visited in October and took the guided tour which was very informative and fun. Very kind and knowledgeable guide. Also its not too far from the city center so a great option when you dont have so much time.
Beautiful grounds, lovely walk, definitely coming back and doing the full walk and possibly tour
Beautiful relaxing afternoon. A market then a Art exhibition, lunch, a walk around the wall garden then sat listening to a light jazz band. 🤗
Beautiful location around the house gardens worth visiting and on sat mornings farmers market. There is a tour of the house worth doing and some days there are displays in the Stables. Recommend this location for a relaxing walk on a dry sunny day. Great restaurant onsite as we with healty options.
The gardens are a delight to walk around, and the house tour is well worth taking. Our guide was very knowledgeable and it was interesting to hear the history of the house. Excellent toasted sandwiches in the cafe!
Visited for India Day event on 21st August. Nice open space. Less options for food.
Beautiful house, tour guide & all the staff we met were lovely.. loved the grounds too with a lovely lunch in The BoatHouse to follow
Had a wonderful couple of hours at Farmleigh. Had a guided tour of the house with a really excellent tour guide. Amazing place and history. Afterwards, lunched at The Boathouse. Were served lovely food as we sat by the lake and watched the ducks. Thoroughly recommend a visit.
Enjoyed a tour of the grand House at Farmleigh with my wife and granddaughter and marvelled at the wealth the Guinness family had in the 1880s. It was only their holiday home !! Tour was completed with lunch in the boat house cafe and a walk in the gardens. Access to the grounds is free and not expensive for the guided tour of the house. Enjoyed our lunch and highly recommend a visit.
Pretty good. However, the sign posting for India Day was poor. When you walked up the avenue to main house, nothing to tell you where to go. At music area, no good directions for other stalls.
Lovely Estate. India Day was excellent. 👏👏👏
It’s within Phoenix park.Nice and quiet place, very peaceful.
Went to Food market and plant sale. Plenty of parking, well sign posted. Not quite so well signed on way out of Phoenix Park.Farmer Market small but good.
Formally owned by the Guinness family Farmleigh House was purchased by the Irish State in 1999. After renovations it was opened to the public in 2001. It is used by the Government of Ireland as a guest residence for visiting heads of state and heads of governments. It’s well worth a visit. The tour of the house costs €8 and takes approximately one hour.
Fantastic day and tour of Farmleigh, tour guide very knowledgeable and engaging. There is great space for children to run and play and excellent walks. Well worth a visit.
We had an amazing time in this wonderful garden and estate. It was a great spot to go to for a little walk but also to see some pure herbs and a well kept garden with a fountain. The boat house next to the estate also offer a wide array of snacks, food options and hot/cold beverages. We were glad to have a ice cream also. The house is next to a lake with some ducks chilling around. Wed recommend going there for an afternoon and enjoy the estate and gardens. Its open until 5 o clock and looks like a secure area.
Had a tour of Farmleigh House and it was so interesting and our guide was excellent and obviously loves her job. So delighted I went. Grounds are beautiful and also enjoyed the food at the small restaurant and well served. Well worth a visit.
A lovely spot for a walk. Beautiful gardens, a nice little lake with a boathouse café. There are some horses and sculptures and a good few benches to sit down.
Highly recommend you visit the sunken and walled Gardens. The roses 🌹 are beautiful when in bloom. Afterwards, you can a coffee and snack in the restaurant which overlooks the lake. Its a romantic little spot.
I actually was the only person on this tour. Amazing. Well worth a visit. Beautiful house. Very friendly and well informed staff. Beautiful walks and estate. Highly recommend.
Do *not* book the last tour of the day - you’ll end up being rushed through and assigned a tour guide who is still learning basic facts about the estate. Compared to other museums in Ireland you’ll have relatively little information provided about the estate / Guinness family. Tour guide spent more time apologizing for rushing us than actually providing information. Definitely still worth visiting (it’s beautiful!but just know you’ll be googling to learn actual content.
Lovely parkland, gardens and cafe in wonderful surroundings in walking distance from the city centre.
Lovely grounds and coffee shop. Great all year around but stunning in the spring.
Great place to visit, give your self about 2 hours, the walked garden and glasshouse are quite superb, the grounds are very well kept and loads of parking, we were there for the discover Japan exhibition and enjoyed it immensely, well worth 2 hours of anyones time,
Beautiful big estate house, free tour and free parking. Nice walks and a wee cafe to grab a coffee and a snack by the lake. Worth a visit if you’re in the Phoenix park.
Blossoms on Japan day were pretty fab. A terrific day for a short walk and a peaceful sit.
Farmleigh in Phoenix park is always beautiful no matter what season you visit. OPW keep the estate & house in great condition. Dubliners are so lucky to have this place on our doorstep. A must visit if in Dublin.
One of small but very peaceful and beautiful park in Dublin
Went on a lovely stroll around the estate cant wait for nice weather to come back when gardens and house is open Ill be certainly picking a day where we can spend the day pack a picnic
A lovely spot in the Phoenix Park for a gentle walk. Sunken and walled gardens closed at the moment however. Excellent but expensive lakeside cafe.
A lovely spot... met with friends . Kids enjoyed playing by the fountain..we strolled and had a coffee. Love the Phoenix Park anyway and this fella was keeping watch over all that were in and out of Farleigh 🦌
Beautiful, quaint place. If you want to escape the bustle of the city and annoying people, rent bikes from Phoenix bikes and go to this hidden gem. A place straight out of classic literature, very peaceful and healing.
Beautiful gardens to walk around & enjoy the scenery. Nice coffee shop but you have to find a vacant bench to consume a sausage roll & biscuit cake. Was very nice too. MM ☕
This wonderful house and estate was presented to the people of Ireland by the Guinness family. Its located within the beautiful Phoenix Park, 20 minutes cycling distance from Dublins city centre. The house is beautifully decorated with furnishings and artworks and the grounds are well worth exploring, especially to see the mature trees, pond and walled garden.
Informative and interesting tour around Farmleigh House Gardens with Emer... The gardens are beautiful and the stories of times gone by make them come alive 👌Thanks again!
While the house is currently closed due to Covid, the grounds and gardens are well worth a visit. Admission is free and there is ample free parking. The expansive grounds are mostly parkland and paddocks that are managed for wildlife and pollinators 🦋🌼🦗🐝🐞🐛.The walled garden is less formal and manicured than that in Ashtown Castle in the adjacent park but is full of pollinator friendly plants and herbs. The gardeners are very friendly and happy to share their knowledge with interested visitors.Looking forward to coming back when restrictions are lifted.
Love it most enjoyable place to be if you need a bit of time out from the hustle and bustle ,beautiful gardens, bring your picnic and enjoy nature in this amazing space 🥰
Great gentle peaceful place if you go during quiet periods. Cafe open for decent enough freshly made sandwiches, large general car park, & pretty grounds.6 portaloo toilets - all clean & with toilet paper, one for disabled folks - located in the staff carpark behind the Courtyard.
Beautiful historic home, quiet, beautiful and peaceful place for a walk with a lake and 2 beautiful gardens.
Located in Phoenix Park, not many people know about this wonderful place. An oasis of peace and nature! Here there is a small lake covered with water lilies, you can have a coffee on the terrace next to it, or eat something. Wonderful Walled garden not far. The house, when there are no guests, is open to the public. The parking is large enough to accommodate all visitors.
Beautiful place.for a walk or picnic. Well kept gardens full of colour, will be back.
Amazing Park, there is a car park inside. There are horses donkeys, swans, ducks.. There is a small lake and the garden. Magnolia trees are so lovely. There is a house you can visit when restrictions are lifted, and a coffee shop
Beautiful gardens with plenty of room for kids to run around. Well worth a look
Always worth a visit, any time of year. Right now its the time to enjoy the spring flowers, blossom and the opening of the magnolias.
A gem in a gem! This beautiful estate is tucked away on the Castleknock side of the Phoenix Park. Mostly open to the public unless out of state dignitaries are staying. The estate is nice and big offering lovely walks in nature. It’s also very quiet and quite safe for children to roam around in. There is plenty of parking too with just a short walk up to the main house from the carpark. You could also park on White’s Road and it’s only a short walk in from the farmleigh gates. There’s a nice little cafe on the lake too so you can grab a coffee for you walk around. This is a must visit when visiting the park.
Every time I go I love this place. the grounds are so beautiful and the building is amazing.they have free events running right through the year which is always a treat. The food market always has interesting stalls serving food from all over the world.I would highly recommend attending if you get the chance
Great and beautiful place to visit. Has beautiful pleasure gardens, cafe, toilets and a tour of the house. I went when they had a craft and food market and it was fabulous. Really recommend looking up what’s on as this would be a really nice day out for the family with a picnic in nice weather.
This place is phenomenal, had the pleasure of actually spending quite a bit of time here with work and when it was closed to the public and have to say it really is a treasure. It makes an amazing tourist attraction but also a rich piece of history and culture. There are a few must sees and if you are on a tour ask about the hidden staircase behind the secret door as well as the chairs in the entrance way and their secrets. While you can only tour downstairs the upstairs rooms are equally spectacular. The Billard room is amazing and so are the bedrooms.I haven’t even mentioned the gardens and they are worth a visit in themselves.
Fabulous tour with Margaret. I enjoyed the tour and would recommend to everybody. Just rating 4 stars because buggies are not allowed and children must be carried in the arms. Sure the visit is not for children but I think it would be great to have these facilities.
Great for a the family. Beautiful grounds with space for kids to run and play. There a picnic benches as well as a cafe.Raleigh has events year round, like farmers markets, Africa Day, Experience Japan, exhibitions etcThere are formal parts of the garden,a pond, vegetable patches and beautiful flower displays. You can also do a guided tour of the house.
