Broderick St, Midleton, Co. Cork, Ireland, Cork
Local produce and unfussy Irish and European dishes in a family-run country restaurant and shop.
A different vibe for fine dining but it was gorgeous - I love every bit of it!Had a small family dinner but it was worth it all. Such a beautiful place with amazing food and ambience.Highly recommended and is actually beyond expectations.
Absolutely Amazing food, from the Starters right down to the chips. Lovely, helpful and friendly staff. Outstanding 👌
Lovely & cheerful restaurant & food was just perfect. . Will return. .
Food lovely. Staff very professional. Lovely atmosphere.
Food was so delicious and services was so lovely, cant wait to bring friends and family to visit again
this is probably up there with the best of them, sadly missed during the pandemic, limited opening times now, Thursday-Saturday. Food is very good, Staff friendly and helpful, Interior as always sublime 👌
Food lovely but a bit expensive
Had a wonderful lunch was fantastic fresh seafood from the chowder to the calamari and musselsAnd reasonably priced too
Nice restaurant with lovely staff , however its overpriced, ordered a chicken dish and it was terrible , only half of the breast with a chicken leg that I couldnt eat , 24 euros !!!! It wasnt even that fresh , also one of the staff spilled sauce all over my husband and didnt even take anything off the bill , wont be going back
Great choice of baked goods for dessert and to go. Good food served in the restaurant too.
Great food and super friendly staff. Nice selection of dishes for early bird
Fantastic food and desserts. Will definitely return!
Very disappointed with the vegetarian options. There was only 1 vegetarian option for starter and no vegetarian option for main course so had to have the only vegan option available, which to be fair was very nice. Not a place to go for vegetarians.
I had one of the nicest burgers Ive ever had, highly recommended! (Went back for the burger a second time, still great!)
Very high quality food and really excellent staff. The only reason for a 4 star review is that the vegetarian options are very limited. Tonight there was only one vegetarian main option so no real choice. I have to say it was the most limited menu for vegetarians that I’ve seen in years.Overall an excellent experience as long as you eat meat.
Excellent setting, staff and food. Thoroughly enjoyed our evening.
Food is delicious here! Balanced taste, good portions, interesting combinations of flavours. Friendly staff. Thanks to the chef and team. Good luck!
Beautiful restaurant with a fantastic menu and atmosphere! The team were so lovely too! Can’t wait to come back!!
Really had a lovely meal here yesterday. Ordered the scallops for starters and the roast duck for main course. Both were cooked well and very tasty. Staff were friendly and professional. Definitely will be coming again in the foreseeable future.
Lovely evening out with my wife and kids. Food is beautiful as always.
Had a fantastic meal in the farmgate tonight, warm friendly welcome and professional service, food was delicious especially that famous duck. A real gem but a little bit pricey, would like to see a house wine under €25. Will still happily go back.....when I save up 😜.
Located in the centre of the town, food prepared here are of locally sourced ingredients, good quality food and you can experience the freshness in all the items you order. But guys , you need to plan the visit in advance as they have mandatory orders per person! Have a look at the menu (in their website)and check the availability of vegetarian/vegan options for the day.
Average, no idea if its a Covid effect or not, but the food quality was disappointing, definitely not what this place used to be, I will be very hesitant to give it another try to be honest.Staff were very nice and friendly though.
We had the best food Ive tasted in a while, the staff were so nice, nothing was too much trouble.....
From the moment we were greeted lastnight we had the best experience. Engaged, friendly, attentive and fun staff. Beautiful decor too. Brilliant menu, not too big but nice variety. We had 3 courses each along with cocktails, wine and a dessert wine. Everything was exceptional. Cannot wait to go back, it will be our regular date night going forward I think.
Excellent food , excellent service , lovely staff. We had the pleasure of eating here during a Saturday night service and it was a pleasure from start to finish .
Absolutely wonderful dinner. All three of us loved our choices. Calamari to start was stunning. Duck; venison and Halibut main courses were divine. Lovely evening lovely staff. Will be back very soon.
Unbelievable food and great service. Highly recommend
Delicious food, everything we ordered was top class. Friendly staff and a cosy setting. Highly recommended and will return if in town again.
The food is well above average, the place is always fairly crowded and most people are regulars. The staff are lovely. I am proud to have this in my town , as I can show off how great a place it is.
Not bad but sadly no vegan options whatsoever on the menu. Ended up settling for the classic poorly thought through vegan adaptation of a veggie option without the main ingredient. With the lovely fresh produce on offer at this restaurant, I’m confident the chefs could include at least one delicious vegan option without too much trouble. No vegan desserts (not unexpected at this point in the mealso I thought I’d settle for a soya flat white. Sadly no alternate milks available either. In the same week that Greta Thunberg addresses the UN on climate change and millions protest about the future of the planet, expecting to find a minimum of one vegan option on a menu should be commonplace. I know you can do better Farmgate.
Great atmosphere and food choice. Very pleasant staff.
I had lunch just after 3pm, so I accept that I was eating after a busy spell. However, the food was ok. Not great.... just ok. Small portions and a price that suggested quality far beyond what landed on my plate. The restaurant is beautiful and the staff lovely, but I fear that Farmgate is struggling with consistency of output at the moment. Im a local to Midleton, and do feel that in an area where quality of produce is so high, Farmgate is possibly resting on its reputation a little too heavily these days. Better food can be found at Sage/ Greenroom, or the Granary Foodstore, where the quality stays the same however busy they are. Disappointing.
Nice fresh, local food! Eat in or buy prepped meals from the market!
Lovely restaurant tucked away inside the bakery/country store. Our meals were very well prepared and very fresh. Sadly, we were too full to sample the treats from the bakery, which looked and smelled amazing. So glad we came upon this gem. 😃
Great place to stop if youre in the area visiting Middleton Distillery. Had some of the best lamb stew Ive ever had, along with an apple tart & vanilla ice cream.
This restaurant is a hidden gem... a must to visit. Both my husband and myself went for the fillet steak and oh boy it was mighty...the flavour touched our senses...And the accompaniments of veg and roast potatoes with Jameson sauce on the side ooòooh fulfilled the souls delight. We will ve back! 5 stars
Lovely, cosy restaurant serving honest well cooked food with friendly service. Crab claws were great followed by an equally well cooked flame grilled rib eye. Definitely worth a stopping for a meal here if in the area. We were here for dinner but I believe it is equally good for lunch.
Tasty food, good presentation and solid service. A must try in cork.
Atmosphere - Cozy and casual, yet classyStaff - friendly and all had proper uniformsFood - absolutely delicious, wish I could have tried the entire menu as everything sounded so delicious.Price - seems standard amongst other restaurants in Ireland
I wish there were 6 stars. What a fantastic evening. Food was 5 star. Service was 6 star, and I have never felt such a feeling of "home" in a restaurant. I can highly recommend this to any one. Just amazing comfy and beautiful restaurant.
The highlight of our dining experiences on holiday in Cork! We got a last minute reservation thanks to the wonderfully helpful staff and our meal did not disappoint. I don’t think you can go wrong with anything on the menu. I would love to go back!!
The Farmgate never disappoints. Fabulous food and great service. Its our favourite place to eat locally. Im always interested to see what will be on the specials board.... which is always seasonal and delicious. Recently we held our babys christening party here and as usual the food and service was fantastic.
We were very much looking forward to our meal here as its been recommended as somewhat of an institution... however the wait for food was excessive being 40 mins for starter after our order and main not for an hour and half, staff were very nice but not attentive and food did not wow us- it was nice but the wait took any shine off. Disappointing as restaurant was no where near full
You have to eat here. You HAVE to eat here.I was famished after a bit of a drive and the Jameson tour. This restaurant is about a 5 minute walk from there. You walk in and you feel right at home. You can tell that everything is made from scratch and most likely DOES come from a farm nearby.I started with an incredibly creamy and delicious seafood chowder- studded with oodles of fresh fish, and then moved onto a Scallop Salad with bacon and other tasty morsels. So divine. Though I am not a big dessert person, i had to try some as there is a huge table of desserts right in the front of the restaurant that beckons you. I caved and ordered the creamiest, most decadent and lovely lemon pie tart that I have ever had. I am pretty sure they must add cream to the filling just for fun. I mean, its Ireland and they add cream to everything. So. good.Go here. Eat and be happy. Have dessert. You wont be sorry.
One of the best restaurants in East Cork, NO - in all of Cork. Really comfortable restaurant, interestingly located behind a very well stocked market stall, which you can purchase from (of course! Menu is superb, staff very attentive, great wine list. Perfect for morning coffee, lunch, but most of all evening Dinner. No BS in this restaurant, just good old fashioned service with a smile and superb food. Free parking on the street outside of the restaurant.
A real beauty of a restaurant . But the quality of food to price ratio is a bit off putting. We all shared our veg in a carvery still platter and they definitely could have had more. Average of €60 P/P including drinks
Overpriced and overrated. All main meals come with boiled potatoes in their jackets(even though one is not told this on the menu). We were told that we could have as many potatoes as we liked as long as they were cooked in the aforementioned style. Henry Ford and his black Model T Ford come to mind! The staff looked upon our 10 year old son and 12 year old daughter with disdain as they dared to ask for chips with their meals. The quality of the food was to be fair pretty good, however not worth the handsome price paid as the dining experience was ruined by the whole well tell you what you can have vibe!
Delicious food. Fabulous setting. Service was a tad slow but would definitely come back.
We have been eating at the farm gate for the last 15 years ! I cant recommend it enough the food is always fantastic. You wont leave without a full belly & a smile on your face. The staff are so helpful & welcoming we have spent many special occasions in our fabulous restaurant! There is also a great deli to have a great farm gate meal at home 😊
