Time-tested, weekday eatery featuring homestyle, Souther comfort dishes in a comfortable atmosphere.
Great food.... Excellent staff..... Southern vibes❤
Passing through the town and found this little hole in the wall gem. Simple, cheap, great portion breakfast. Definitely hit the spot. Highly recommend. Dont let the simplicity fool you, one of the best breakfasts I had in a long time. Also, biscuits were amazing and fresh.
Quaint little restaurant in downtown Montgomery. Good food, friendly staff and clean dining area!
A great diner. Food and service were fantastic.
My family got their food from the cafeteria line, I ordered from the grill. My waitress had to ask for my food 4 different times. My family was completely finished eating before I even got my food, including my 71 year old grandmother who eats as slow as a little bird. When my food FINALLY got to me, the entire order was wrong. I was too late to complain. I ordered a bacon patty melt, no onions, with fries. What a relieved was a bacon patty melt (with onionsand onion rings. Be glad i had a doctors appointment that day because I am ALLERGIC TO ONIONS and if I would have had the time, I would have sent everything back. Instead I just didnt eat anything. Ill never go back here.
Great breakfast, good service, reasonably priced and frequented by locals. Would recommend
Love this place for lunch or breakfast. Ive been 3 times in a week. I called in an order for breakfast and it was hot and ready for pickup as I arrived. Such a time saver. The food is always perfectly seasoned, especially the fried chicken. The prices for their meat and 3 beats any in the area. Definitely my go to spot for breakfast and lunch! Fast, friendly service is surely a plus.
Good food and a good price. Didnt even know it was here until this year. Got a three egg omelette that was actually three eggs with the right amount of cheese.
Good food, great people, amazing history! My family has been going since it opened and it has always been consistent! You wont regret trying anything on their menu!
Farmers Market servers country style cooking. Pretty goo6 variety on different days.
Good home cooking, food was excellent, service was outstanding, atmosphere was old time diner, the prices were very reasonable.
This is a downhome gathering place. Biscuits are wonderful. Portions are generous.
Nice folks and good food. Watch the slick old tile floors inside when its humid. Our waitress looked like she was roller skating. Great sweet tea.
Ordered from the buffet. All food was hot and good. Waitress was friendly and quick with the drinks. Down home atmosphere. Will eat here again
Great food and great hospitality. Reasonable prices
Cafeteria style, quick moving lines and lots of choices. I recommend the sweet and spicy chicken, mash potatoes and cucumber salad. And the chocolate chip bread pudding was really tasty and enough to share.
Loved the food! A great place to eat for some home cooking!
It is lunch room style , fast service and good food. Friendly faces everywhere...
Good meat and three for lunch. Served cafeteria style. It can get busy so early it is best to get through the line. Eat first, pay on the way out.
Food was great and the service was superb.
Delicious food, clean building, and food service. I definitely will refer friends and family.
Food was very good and low price. We ate the farmers market omelette and it was stuffed with ingredients.
Food is always delicious and service friendly.
This is a great place to get fresh hot and delicious food. The staff are very friendly and attentive this will be one of our places to visit frequently
Delicious and filling: The CONECUH Hamburger! I am currently on an all things CONECUH eating spree! This was the best item thus far from the local and famous Farmers Market located in downtown Montgomery, AL. This burger is huge and the half a plate of hot fries completes the meal! I enjoyed my meal and my new Wednesday, Lunch special!!! Please call and ask them to put this item on the every day menu! A must have!!!
Food was bland. Not a great selection. Great customer service and very reasonable prices.
Not the most up to date place but great food. We asked the guy at the museum where do all the locals eat and he suggested here. Great food. Laid back and relaxed atmosphere. If Im ever in town again, I will definitely stop by.
The workers there were so sweet and respectful. Fast service and the food was amazing. Shoutout to the sweet waiter, Mrs. Leanne that was so quick and made my experience feel personal and finally the cook. The food was perfectly seasoned and cooked for my likings. I would most certainly recommend friends there. That was a great experience and that is rare for me.
What an awesome market to enjoy some good ole down home southern cooking! We, 5 co-workers and I, ventured in for the majority of us to indulge in chicken livers and gizzards. One or two ate asked chicken and the works.I had a mix of gizzards and liver along with mustard greens, snap beans, fried okra, and a good piece of cornbread. Several colleagues topped their meals off with nanner pudding. Personally, I filled up on the meats and veggies this visit!Had some half and half tea as they make theirs like mom did, a little on the "sweet" side. Nothing wrong with that, Im just older and cant drink it like I use to.Variety of meat and veggies, deserts and drink. If you want some good cooking, service with a smile and some chit chat while in the line, drop by and patronize the Farmers Market Cafe and its wonderful team! Our server was outstanding, never letting our drinks get low, didnt bother us but kindly dropped by in passing to see if we needed anything and then prepared a few of us some drinks to go.You wont go wrong stopping in to eat down home cooking that will make your ribs stick together, or better yet, make your tongue slap your brains out! Enjoy!!!
We have come a few times for breakfast to give this place a fair trial. The staff is very friendly. The food is bland. The food is often Cold, greasy, and low end ingredients. The breakfast bowl is frozen hashbrowns covered in loosely scrambled egg and multiple slices of American cheese that appear to be microwaved over the top. The biscuits and gravy has watery gravy and it’s cold and lacks seasoning. The coffee is burned and watery. The French toast is just regular sandwich bread French toast that you can make at home. The omelette is potentially the only saving grace; although it also lacks seasoning. It seems like the common crowd here are retirees that have made this a bit of a habitual spot. People are coming here for socializing and not for the quality of the food.Bottom line: this place charges more than waffle house with a lower quality option. I would not recommend this at all.
Come here for a great southern breakfast or an awesome lunch off of the hot bar. Go on Hamburger Steak day and don’t miss the Bread Pudding day! Banana Pudding is great too! If the hot bar is not your thing, order a burger, chicken sandwich or BLT (but get the tomatoes fried and green). Yes!For breakfast… The biscuits and gravy, omelettes, scrambled eggs, sausage, and pancakes are all fantastic. Cheese grits! My wife loves the western omelette.I have not a bad meal here and the staff is awesome. They kept my tea full the whole time my wife and I visit.
Come here and eat all the breakfast. The biscuits and gravy, eggs, bacon, and french toast were all incredible. Sorry mom, but this was way better than any home cooked breakfast Ive ever eaten.Do yourself and your mouth a favor and visit the Farmers Market Cafe whenever youre in Montgomery. Heck, come to Montgomery just to eat here.
Disappointed! The day I went, I ordered their special, something like a burger with added brisket our something for $14 or $15 dollars. Totally not with it. I think many go here for their fried chicken so maybe youll have a better experience getting that or something else.
Great food. Ive eaten here dozens and dozens of times and have only been slightly disappointed once. Thats great as far as Im concerned.
This sort of place used to be common in the South. "Home Cooking" better than most homes, lackadaisical decor, busy waitresses with smiles and gallon jugs of sweet tea. Breakfast is ok, lunch is great. Plentiful portions of meat and three- and dessert. Exemplary fried chicken.PASS cracker barrel to go here. Its cheaper, faster and more authentic.
Food was good, lady fixing the plates was very rude. I was dining in and she put mine in a togo without asking. When I mentioned I was eating in she rolled her eyes. She was fussing with another lady about not having ticket books. My first time here, not sure I will go back.
The best fried chicken fingers, ever! We also really enjoyed the greens and mashed potatoes and gravy.
Diamond in the rough. Not heavily advertised but definitely worth a trip. Good southern cuisine, buffet style and the tea is good. Was disappointed about the bread choice. Little slice of cast iron pan corn bread would have been good. Great place.
Its hard to give any place thats cooking Southern food five stars when youve been raised on a Southern grandmothers cooking, but this place definitely came close. The chicken was fried to perfection with an even cook and light breading (adding the Honey Heat made it even more delicious), and the mustard greens and banana pudding were some of the best Ive had since I was a child eating my Great Grandmothers cooking. If you want to feel at home, go here.
Customer service was great. Greeted and attended very well. To begin with I came for just a piece of cheesecake which was absolutely delicious to be honest. I thought it was going to be a small piece, but it was a big piece literally I couldnt finish it I didnt even finish half of it.
Had our Christmas party there and it was my first visit. The Southern food was very good, loved the fried chicken and the service was awesome.
We stumbled upon this restaurant while driving around looking for a good place to eat. So glad we found it! We went through the hot line and found the food delicious! There was no hostess so we were a bit unsure whether to take a seat or wait. Then we noticed the line for the hot food & just followed suit. There are no signs with the price so we asked someone in front of us. Turned out to be cheaper than he said. One meat & two veggies :$7.50. One meat & three veggies: $8.50.Some of us had roasted chicken , one had fried chicken & one had red beans & rice. It was all delicious! Try the bread pudding!
Salisbury steak & gravy was bland, sadly. Everything else was great - sauteed squash, greens, & rice was perfectly cooked. Dont laugh-its easy to make hard or mushy veggies/rice. Serious about the flavor of their veggies shining through-no added meat. They had jalapeno cornbread & a mil discount! Their mashed potatoes & gravy is life-changing, but the sweet potatoes need some love - overcooked with no flavor...
Awesome food and awesome service. My wife remembered a place she had eaten many years ago but all she could remember was that it was northwest of the Capitol. W Googled several places and none of them looked like the place. This was the last place we looked up and we had decided to go ahead and eat here whether or not it was the right one.Turned out that it was and we had the most amazing dining experience that we have had in a long time. Prices are decent and did I mention that the food and service were both awesome?I highly recommend it and it would appear that the locals feel the same way since the majority of the crowd seemed to be locals.Thank you Farmers Market Cafe. We will be back o by the our next trip to Montgomery.
Down home cooking serving in a very mellow, calm environment. Staff was attentive and very nice to us and my toddler. The food was excellent and served in a very timely manner. Everything tasted homemade and was very enjoyable.
Great breakfast at a great price. Omelet was so wonderful & everything read cooked perfectly. Definitely one of our breakfast favorites.
So glad I found this place. If I lived in Montgomery, Id be a regular customer. Since I was only here on business for a few days, return visits will have to wait. Service is friendly and relaxed. My breakfast was ready quickly and the coffee is excellent.
Outstanding! We go here for breakfast on most Mondays when my husband and I both have time. We always get the Farmers Market Breakfast and most of the time that fills us up until dinner. Really solid food. The best breakfast weve had in the area. A local hangout.Their lunches are very good too. Breakfast is just my favorite. And, good coffee. You do have to ask for flavored creamers if you like them as they dont usually offer them up unless you ask.Solid wait staff. Attentive and nice. If you havent gone, you are missing out.Their decor and building is older, but gives it that old classic diner character.
Visited the farmers market today. arent from here, and didnt know what to expect. The staff was very friendly. It seemed like a family owned and operated restaurant. The food and service was amazing. Our waitress Whitney was prompt, knowledgeable, noticed that we were first timers, and definitely gained our familys business. Even the cashier was glowing!!Best restaurant down south so far!!!Definitely go check it out..
I loved this place. For those of you looking for some Michelin star restaurants, this is a diner. The five stars arent for white table cloths. They are for eye-rolling good grits and fried green tomatoes, and really lovely service. I went for breakfast so in addition to the above my order included bacon (which, lets be honest, rarely disappoints, but here it was juicy and crispy and... I just cant... so good). The servers are so friendly and sweet - for breakfast the frier usually isnt on but since I hadnt tried fried green tomatoes yet my server got them to turn it on and make them for me, and they were DELICIOUS. Anytime Im in Montgomery I will most definitely go back.
