Relaxed venue for chef-driven, farm-to-table New American eats.
Fantastic meal. Wife and I each did the tasting menu with the wine pairing and it was fantastic. Our 7 year old had an amazing dinner as well, mainly thanks to owner Kevins suggestions. Food was simple in ingredients but complex in execution and flavor. Next time were back in St. Louis, well absolutely be back.
Excellent dining experience. Jill was awesome and fun!
The chef’s pre-fixe wine pairing was disappointing. It took 50 minutes to bring out the first course and we had finished our first wine tasting by then. We asked for bread to hold us over and we’re charged for it, which is unusual in St. Louis. The other 2 courses arrived slowly and not timed well with the wine pairings. Our reservation was a Friday night at 6:30 and the restaurant was only half full.
Me and my date did the Pre-fixe with the wine pairing, and added cheesy bread and peri-peri shrimp. Food was all great, nice flavors. Cheesy bread made with cheese curds is my new favorite. Shrimp and a nice spicy bite. Waitstaff needs a bit of training. First time Ive ordered a wine pairing and as the wine was brought it wasnt described, delivery was simply here is the wine". Was shocked that as a primarily local sourced restaurant they wine pairings were not local. Will go again and probably go ala carte option to explore the menu farther.
Review from 2016 was 4 stars…Enjoyed everything we ordered. Friendly and efficient wait staff. Ambience simple but comfortable. Will return and bring friends. Review from 2022 removed a star because we…made a reservation for 6pm (via emailand got a reply stating, someone would call to confirm on the day of, sadly no one called. We decided to go else where.
The 3 course meal was 5 stars the al la cart items especially the summer salad was B O M B
Yet another stop on the STL Top 100 2022, and another that has failed to disappoint! We made a reservation via phone a few days before, and had no problem getting in. The bar area has a handful of tables as well as bar seating. The main dining area has a few more tables, and the decor is quite spartan. Id expected a bit more ambiance, but it wasnt awful.Farmhaus is no kidding farm to table, yet the prices are still more than reasonable. The summer salad was very well balanced, consisting of an array of flavors. The ribeye was massive, perfectly cooked, and full of flavor; the green beans and mashed sweet/russet potatoes were perfection as well. The red snapper and polenta was good, but didnt have the same wow (or pricefactor as the ribeye. This place has been on the Top 100 for at least a couple years, and its no wonder why.
Simply outstanding! Local food, creative dishes, created with passion.
Went to Farmhaus Saturday night with my wife our baby, brother and sister in law. Everyone was very friendly and the food was incredible. We started with the special water melon margaritas and cheesy bread (wish we ordered two it was so goodI had the ribeye myself and it was the best steak I have ever had. I am sad I do not live in St. Louis because I would be back here every week if I could! We all ordered different entrees and none of them disappointed! Definitely check this place out if you get the chanceEdit: well, I moved to St. Louis 😂, went back, so good
Came here for the first time with my husband to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We both ordered the chefs 3 course prix fixe menu. I chose to also order the accompanying wine pairings, while my husband chose to sample one of their cocktails.Incredible through and through. The service and timing of each course was spot on. As someone who enjoys wine but is definitely not a connoisseur, the pairings with each course enhanced the food rather than overshadow. After indulging in the three courses which left us full but not over stuffed we decided to split an order of the strawberry shortcake. It was a star in its own right. We will be back again (likely many timesfor traditional dining and set menus.
This is my favorite restaurant in the STL area. Every item on the menu was fantastic and great for sharing. Flavor profiles were incredible. Staff was friendly and attentive to our needs. This place is world class in my opinion. Ive been to many great restaurants around the world, this place snuck up and truly surprised me. Its simple in its approach, both in ambiance and and service, but really impressed me in the culinary skill coming from the kitchen.
We enjoyed a delicious meal. We really loved the gnocchi that was paired with the freshly caught fish
Wonderful food and service. We had the tagliatelle, fish special, and ribeye and all were wonderful. We also had the peri peri shrimp to start which were perfectly spicy. Will come back again!
We had the tasting menu here one year ago. It was amazing. We are coming back in town and our first goal is to have dinner here again.
I love the flavor of the ingredients because they were very fresh. The cheesy focaccia was good it tasted like sourdough. The Ravioli was perfectly done. I got a Bolognese and the tomato 🍅 sauce was made from the scratch and not the can sauce, so it was worth it. Perfect size. The desserts 🎂🍪 we picked was s cake and a chocolate 🍫 mousse with a very nice whip cream. All of it was very tasty. A good option if you want to go out with your partner.
This was the single best ribeye steak Ive ever eaten. Perfectly marbled beef broiled to medium. An attentive and caring staff. Good ambiance.
An excellent restaurant led by James Beard nominee for best chef in the Midwest region, Kevin Willmann. Small plates and entrees curated on a daily, evolving menu.
Perfect dining experience for taking your time and enjoying what the menu has to offer. Service makes you feel welcome and food leaves a lasting impression. Will be back and recommending to friends.
Absolutely AMAZING! Such sweet service, with genuinely nice people. Food was stunning, words cannot express the delicious meal we just had. I highly recommend getting the Butternut Squash Agnolotti and Pierogies!(PS: Having a couple of glasses, ordering 4 meals, and dessert; the check was much lower than expected from the phenomenal meal)
Intimate dining area. The food here is S tier. Above an A+ rating. Its pricey for sure but its worth it. Wait staff is friendly and knowledgeable.
Well let me start off by saying that we have loved having the FarmHaus in our humble, but up and coming neighborhood. We always like to frequent this wonderful restaurant for special occasions. This evening it was our anniversary, it was all we expected from a farm to table restaurant, with a very loyal following. We started with the mushroom salad for my husband, oyster & shitake mushrooms , spinach leaves, goat cheese, topped off with a warm bacon dressing, the flavors blended all together to say the least. I had the shredded salad with shrimp that had an Asian influence, but again alive with flavor!I loved the Domaine Sauvignon Blanc, white wine, ordinarily I would order a red, but, red unfortunately does not agree with me any longer. It did not deter from me ordering the beef Osso Bucco, mash potatoes, without the bone, just melted in the mouth for both of us, and did not disappoint in any way without the bone. The one thing that our evening extra special was our server, Curt, a true professional and obviously very good at what he seems to enjoy! A real pleasure Curt, thanks for making our evening memorable. There were other pleasures we enjoyed, but, hey, you will have to go to find out. Thanks again FarmHaus!!
Went for the first time tonight and I cant say enough good things. Service was excellent, friendly, above and beyond. Kitchen put out AMAZING food. Every dish we tried was better than we expected and we tried about half the menu. We will be back many times in the future. I brought my parents here when they visited but will return as a great date night as well.
Spectacular! The vibe, the service, the attention to detail, the special touches to meet the particular desires if our group. Couldn’t have been better!! Oh, and the food was so excellent I’m not only taste but presentation!!
This kitchen is amazing! We sampled across the whole menu and it was all fantastic! The wait staff were top of the line and the bartender is a master! Highly recommend!
Oh Boy.... loved this place. Nice neighborhood vibe. Wine selection was great; love the Italian wines! Pierogis were great, simple, and yummy! Wife had the meatloaf... wow! that was mmmmmmm good. I had the tagliatelle and it was great too. Desert was simple and the peach ice cream was phenomenal! Going back for sure... Service was good; could tell they were hiring and training, so a little slow with overall service, but definitely would go back. Looking forward to trying the shrimp and grits and the summer salad.
This restaurant is the definition of understated excellence. The location and decor is low key, the staff is humble and kind, and then the food comes out and is easily the best Ive eaten in all of STL. I recommend ordering more than you can eat so you can sample more, or dining with friends so you can taste one of everything. The cheesy bread was salty and crisp and was perfect for dipping in the shakshuka. The lavash that came with the shakshuka was perfect for dipping in the tomato reduction that came with the cheesy bread. Everything about the osso bucco was perfect, and same for the grouper. Every dish was the right kind of delicious, so I cant stack rank anything - just order as much as you can knowing you will have leftovers but zero regrets. Go to Farmhaus and eat happy.
Food was wonderful. Real, whole foods. The taste and texture combinations were perfect and made with care! Sober and relaxing atmosphere, great service - We will be back!
We came here for a celebratory dinner and had a wonderful time. The menu was creative, the food was delicious, and the service was impeccable. Sarah, our server, did an awesome job taking care of us and made a wonderful cocktail to boot! We will be coming back and look forward to seeing new items on the rotating menu.
We really enjoyed our meal. It was delicious. The hostess (Monicais a sweet young lady and our waitress (I believe it was Annwas great. They are a little pricey, but worth it. We will be returning.
Could not rave about this more! Went for Valentine’s Day and the tasting menu was out of control! Everything was cooked to perfection, seasoned beautifully, and the timed courses were spot on. Never had to wait for anything. Service was perfect! Do not sleep on this and if you get a chance to get out don’t think twice about it. Thank you again for everything!
My friend and I had the 7 course Tasting Menu and our spouses had the Summer Salad and Berkshire Pork from Newman Farms. The food was fantastic and service was outstanding! One of the highlights of the Tasting Menu was the red snapper. It was simply delicious! The Berkshire Pork was very good and Summer Salad very fresh! The orange sorbet, which was served to clean our palette, was excellent and refreshing! One of the best meals we have eaten in St. Louis this year! I highly recommend!
I went several months ago ago. I ordered the filet minion, which was perfectly cooked and amazing. Although the food was objectively good, some of the menu items don’t measure up to the price tag attached. I ordered a dessert based off their beautiful instagram photo, but when the dish came it didn’t have nearly as much effort put into it as the photo advertised, which kind of annoyed me. My boyfriend ordered the cake with ice cream, which was very overpriced for what tasted similar to a supermarket muffin.
FarmHaus is a St. Louis gem for a small intimate very pleasant dining experience. I was visiting family and looking for a nice meal. Wilmin is a James Beard award winning chef so you can expect amazing food with impeccable attention to detail. We had pefectly prepared steaks, my legit 8 oz filet at medium rare melted in my mouth. We enjoyed the unique pepper dish as a first course and the shrimp and grits as a second appetizer which was delightful and filling. A coffee martini was the perfect adult dessert. They are just getting back into their groove with a short covid break but I cant wait to visit again with their full tasting menu in place. They do have a great menu now so Id recommend Farmhaus for a high end under the radar dinner. Go youll enjoy it.
Hate being one of those people but I have to, was so good.😩Duroc Pork Loin, Sweet Potato Puree, Bacon Honey Glazed Turnips. Paired under suggestion from the house sommelier Bailey Schuchmann with a Monastrell from Alicante, Spain.Shortbread Apple Cake with Ice Cream paired with a Gaston Riviere Pineau Des Charentes Blanc.10/10 would go again. 🙂🍽️
A little bit underwhelming. The food was prepared quite well and the service was very friendly if maybe a little overbearing. We loved the Baos, the fish’s accompanying turnips and spoon bread, and the mushroom salad, but the rockfish was spicy while lacking flavor and the apple cake dessert was a bit bland. Overall a very solid restaurant but you can find more creativity elsewhere.
Excellent evening and dinner at Farmhaus. Service was excellent as was the food. I ordered the bread with Honey Butter which was wonderfully balanced and interesting. For an entree I opted for the Scallops and didnt regret it for a single moment - the taste combinations between the base, scallop and ham was awesome. Dessert brought the chocolate torte which was a nice rich counterpoint to the lightness of the scallops. Bailey was working the bar and her service was incredible - though I am a teetotaler listening to her recommendations to others at the bar simply revealed her amazing knowledge of all libations. A great night and amazing food. Will happily return next time I am in the area!
Both the food and service is excellent! The Chefs Tasting is a fun experience that takes about two hours, so even though it is a bit expensive, it is both dinner and entertainment. We enjoyed trying different foods prepared new ways and the different wines paired with each. Make sure to get reservations, otherwise you probably wont be able to get a table on the weekend.
Bailey is lovely, as is the chef. They really treated us well and presented an amazing tasting menu. Get the wine pairings and ask lots of questions. The food is amazing - sunchokes, grouper, and dessert were all one of a kind experiences. Come here for a special event!
Me and my friend had the shrimp which was full of flavor. Overall a good meal. Definitely come for the flavor, plating, and exceptional service. Do expect to pay for it as its not inexpensive. Top notch service. Fresh food locally around. Highly recommended.
Was in the area so stopped in for a meal. They have a tasting menu which might be the way to go, but ordered Grouper and it was delicious. My friend had the shrimp which was full of flavor. Overall a good meal. Definitely come for the flavor, plating, and exceptional service. Do expect to pay for it as its not inexpensive
Wonderful! We started with chicken liver pate on toast for an appetizer. Followed with forest mushroom salad and a chicken oyster salad. Both were delicious!!!! Entres were yellow tuna, steak with forest mushrooms, and pork with red cabbage! Absolutely delicious!!! This restaurant is a hidden gem!!!! Love it. Our compliments to Chef Kevin and his staff!!!!
Food was amazingly balanced with flavor and textures. Staff was great and chef is a guy you want to have beers with. As well with awesome food there brew of the month was just awesome.
This place is simply incredible. We were visiting St Louis and this place was in the neighborhood and decided to walk in. We loved it so much we made a reservation for the following night as we walked out. We all said that this is a must visit next time were in town. The menu changes daily and there is also a daily chefs tasting that also changes. The dishes are super balanced and creative. Great mix of textures, flavors and in season ingredients. Quite simply the tuna I was served on our second visit was the best cooked tuna Ive ever had, perfectly cooked and seasoned with great ingredients around it that didnt overwhelm the tuna. Every dish we had was a treat that blew our minds. One of the best meals Ive had in several years. My complements to the wonderful staff, keep up the great work!
My favorite place to eat in the STL area! The tasting menu is always great!
WoW. Simply stunning. We had a LARGE group of people eat here and with it being a small restaurant they accommodated us nicely. The food was absolutely amazing and everyone at the table loved there meals. I know their menu changes frequently but I believe I had the bacon wrapped meatloaf🤤. Worth a try for sure.
I went to Farmhaus for my birthday dinner and had a great meal. My entire party of four each ordered the Chefs Tasting Menu menu meal and we all enjoyed the flavors & presentation of the courses. The entire meal was expertly prepared and plated. All was delectable.
The food was ok, but I definitely wouldnt say it was worth the price we paid. My party got the ribeye, pork loin and meatloaf entrees along with the sourdough and the nacho appetizers. This place is overhyped. I really wanted to try it out and it was a let down. The seating is also tight which was awkward because I was sharing a really long bench with people I dont know and dont care to almost be elbowing, especially, again, at that price.
What a gem! This quaint little bistro is the perfect combination of casual and elegance, and the real stand out is the food. Locally sourced cheeses, house made breads and pickled items (strawberries, who thinks of that?make the menu unique and ever changing. My daughter and I enjoyed all three courses. The fat back appetizer was out of this world, and the Chefs expertise with fish was proven in our trout and bass dishes, every bite was wonderful. The two deserts we had were both delicious, and I have found a new appreciation for french toast at the end of a meal. The service was excellent through out our entire time there. I would highly recommend this eclectic restaurant for anyone wishing to do something different from a large steakhouse, and especially for a romantic evening. I cant wait to return later in summer or fall and see where the menu goes.
I loved the service, the nuances of the flavors in my dishes were decadently light and playful. It was poetry. Enjoyed it very much.
The service was top notch. The food was wonderful. The serving sizes were perfect. I had the salad with mushrooms and the butchers plate. My husband had the North Meets South. We tasted back and forth and did not find one forkful that disappointed. The staff was friendly and helpful. There atmosphere was laid back enough so I could sketch and my husband could read. We never felt rushed.
