Fantasy Island Beach Resort, Dive & Marina in Roatan

I stayed in this place June 2022 and the pictures you find here are NOT actual pictures of the place, pictures are from 20 years ago when this place was new, they have salty water in the shower and faucet, you will feel sticky after a shower no mention your hair, you have to get your own drinking water on dispensers located in the hallways, NO internet in the rooms only internet in the main lobby, food is not good, beer is the only thing as drinks all other drinks are cheap made, we made our stay shortened, we move to another hotel (cocoloboeven considering loosing money but couldnt stay more than 2 days (we paid for 4 nightsplease do yourself a favor do not stay in this place

It wasnt as clean as expected and not all -inclusive service was as advertised in package bought. With all -inclusive, neede to pay $2.00 for each bottled water. There was not even tissue paper in the room.

Pictures are deceiving. Pool under construction, sand fleas, joke of a buffet if you want to even call it that, room A/C barely cools, the tv is the size a dates computer monitor… I could go on and on.

The hotel has potential but unfortunately they need to press attention in what the costumers needs; the rooms are not 100% clean. We found clothes and used soaps from the previous people. I stayed 4 days, 3 nights and the food it was almost the same. The bar was teriible; the “bartenders” was so rude and they don’t have to many options on alcohols os beers, not even to buy. There’s not entertainment at the hotel. During the night they had employees from the hotel as performers, they dance and that it. As I said, the hotel has potential because the private beach is beautiful but that’s it. I would rather pay a little more to stay in another hotel than this one. Unfortunately I had a bad experience in this hotel.

Highly disappointed with this place. Majority of the staff were rude. Asked for a glass of ice and our waitress said they didnt have any more asked for more cups for the coffee they say they didnt have any more. It was like anything you asked for they would say they didnt have anymore so they wouldnt have to get for you - youll definitely save money on tipping.Resort is definitely run down. Rooms are old and bedding is definitely old and dingy. Bar is limited and the liquor they use is the cheapest Im sure and taste horrible. We ended up buying our own liquor bottle and drinking that. Food was not good and there were so many flies in the restaurant area it was disgusting.The pool I guess is being renovated so no pool so dont go with what the pics show.The view and access to the beach is about the only good thing about this place.Location is far from everything else West End and West Bay is about a 20-25 min cab ride.We did an tour which we purchased through the resort and they failed to tell us that some of the activities were not going to be available as they were closed on Sundays.Definitely would not go back.

When we got to room found lock box had no display and did not work, mini fridge had only a pitcher of water, no service on phone, no phone in room, sink had sticker saying do not drink ( I think it was straight out of ocean), and tv was small as a laptop screen with very little selection of grainy channels. No microwave or coffee pot or radio/alarm in rooms. The pool had no water and was under repairs. You are allowed 1 beach towel per day, so if it rains and your towel gets wet.. well sorry. Only has 1 bar and selection was very limited and way to sweet. Customer service was the worst I have ever had. We were a group of 4 and 2 of us went to bar to get drinks and a shot for group. Was told we could only have drinks and would have to come back for shots, because they had a 4 drink max. Beer was only Stella and a local beer, but if you wanted something different you would have to buy it from gift shop Ann if you wanted rum and coke you had to buy coke from gift shop or you got rum and Pepsi. The snack bar was only open for 1 hour after that if you wanted a hamburger you had to pay $10. In the restaurant only service you got was they would pour your drink but even then was slow and if you asked for ice they would just say sorry we are out. The beach was nice and the only reason Im even giving 2 stars. So if you are thinking about this place..READ REVIEWS!.. The resort would not allow taxis in so you would have to walk about 1/2 mile down a dirt road to see if you can get a taxi. We asked how to get room service and was told they clean room once a day. Also they have a tour group on site, ask alot of questions because we booked the chocolate factory, rum factory, sloth , and beach tour only to find out when we left on tour that rum factory was closed

Cons : Tap water was salty in both the shower and the sink. Cleaning service is very inconsistent; did not come everyday. Beds were uncomfortable and pillows were flat. The safe in our room did not work. Food ranged from mediocre to bad buffet-style. Pickup from the ferry was an hour late.Pros : Nice beach and gazebo with snorkeling spot.

Maintenance could be improved, rooms/bed needs upgrades. Food was good. Drinks were ok. But the best part is the beautiful beach. Resort is a 3 star, beach is a 10 star!

We visited the property to look at the marina. This place has post cars views. We will be staying at this marina in the future.

I have stayed at Fantasy Island 4 times over the past 20 years. It is a typical Honduran hotel. Nothing fancy, just charming in its own right. Some buildings at the property need a makeover, but the rooms are clean. The staff at Fantasy Island is amazing, especially housekeeping. The food served is good, you will not starve. The best part of the property is the beach, lagoon and reef. The dive shop is okay, just not doing much business. The coral on the wall dives was looking a little rough. There are a lot of broken barrel sponges, and algae is starting to take over the reef. Conservation is needed badly!

Pros: awesome views, private location, away from the main urban area. Cons: old infrastructure, rooms and decorations, low-regular quality buffet food, nothing fancy or gourmet, do not expect seafood selection.

The beds and pillows were so uncomfortable, I could feel the springs on those mattresses just digging into my back, the food is good tho,the pool and the beach are beautiful, the kitchen and bar closes at 10 pm and I wasnt pleased about that. If you need to leave the resort you have to walk a long ,long walk to get to the highway since they wont call a taxi for you, not saying I had a horrible experience but I would consider this place as my last resort.

the beach is nice but the hotel still needs a lot of cleaning I hope that roatan was better

It was a long way from the town and a $25 US cab ride souveniers at resort very pricy but tee shirts were a bargin but sale shirts were seconds the food appeared to be on a 5 day roation Scuba diving was great and snorkeling was also great.

Good: beach is RIGHT there, food is ok, staff really friendly and nice and the weather is perfectBad: hôtel is NOT up to date, food is not accessible anytime, alcools selection is really small and all taste the same, wifi only in loby, there is no water pressur and its salty water in our shower(my friend said her shower almost fell+ the locations of snorkeling accessories are NOT accessible at any time or dayWould recommand if you do diving but if you dont, go somewhere else PLEASE

The rooms are spacious and clean. The building is an older hotel but is maintained. The staff is very friendly and courteous. The hotel is on an island off of the island, which makes a quiet and relaxing place. Its perfect for a family with kids such as ours, 17, 15,12,8,4. If you want a place away from nightlife and clubs, this is the place.Update on the Resort. We were there from March 4 to the 8th 2022. They added new rooms and another swimming pool to the resort! The main swimming pool uses ocean water. They bring the water using pvc pipes and circulate it out the same way. The new room they added are a bit far away from the lobby, which makes sense to add a swimming pool there. You can rent kayaks. You give them $ 10 USD as a deposit and get it back when you return the kayak and the gears. You can snorkel as well. Wow. You should go to this place to see the most beautiful natural reef. When this place is rated the 3rd most beautiful reef in the world, they arent making it up. It is breathtaking! I cant put it in words about how beautiful this reef is. My kids kept saying this is as beautiful as they ones in finding Nemo. Lol. We also saw a sunken airplane there almost close to the reef. My kids want to go back to this place just so they can snorkel and see the reef again. I highly recommend this Resort. I love the beach, staff, and food.

LESS THAN 1 STAR. ⅛ MORELIKE IT!Very bad experience at this hotel.This hotel is a hotel with very old facilities that urgently need remodeling. Terrible service from most of the staff compared to the staff on the Turquoise Bay Hotel and Pineapple Clarion. ( I have stayed in both hotels on previous trips).The quality of the food could be compared to something you buy in cheap cafeteria in Hialeah, FL. Very poor quality for the price one pays per stay, very important there were no diet sodas only homemade juices loaded with sugar enough to cause a diabetic coma.The hotel doesnt have laundry service; there was no water on the morning we left, and we could not take a shower before checking out.Overall, my suggestion is to pay a little more and get your moneys worth and a better experience than I did. Lesson learned.

So not only did we not get a refund for the first night after AA canceled our flight, but the hotel wouldnt give a complimentary night either. This hotel is severely outdated, the pictures lie. Upon arrival nothing was explained about amenities or activities for the hotel. Theres missing furniture in the room like the dresser to put clothes, plus no coffee/water table & the small fridge on the floor leaked water continuously. Theres no gym, no phone for emergencies in the room. The toilet broke first night. Werent given any hand towels until requested. Food is ok and it set up at different times. Small bar is ok, drinks are decent but closes at 10pm. The showerhead barely produced water till we asked for maintenance, and the safe is old & gets stuck on open/close. Theres no wifi in the rooms, only lobby. The beds arent comfy & thin sheets. Blankets we requested stink & were stained. Theres no where to put shower accessories for use. Only one charging port area for cellphones or iron. No laundry bags, or houseshoes. Walls are kind of thin, can hear neighbors walking around, snoring, and their cellphones. No cable TV. Claimed wasnt working due to weather, never came on period. This spot is quiet, has a nice view of beach but still im very disappointed as this was a birthday trip. No area shuttle, no taxis, as this place is far from alot of things to do. No spa services, no vendors on the beach. Wont recommend, and I wouldnt come back. Nothing matched the pictures or fine print online. Plus we are sufferring from bed bugs & mosquito bites. We left on tuesday and my cc was charged $316 randomly on friday. The hotel was prepaid so not sure how they got my cc but theres only one hotel with this name on google & my bank statement.

The room I got was 107, really close to the ocean and the lobby. We had a front porch and just beautiful scenery day in and day out. The staff is more than accessible and friendly and you can always see a manager close by. Some of the desserts are heavenly so you get your moneys worth. The food is good but the liquor well, it should be a being your own type of thing.The negative: no hot water for the first day and this was my birthday so it really made my day sticky and uncomfortable. The liquor, it doesnt matter what you ask for tastes like moonshine with juice. The menu is just beef, chicken, pork, and fish fillet which is great dont get me wrong, but, the fish is under cooked, the beef is not even close to being tender, the pork is salty and the chicken, well.... that they did great.Wifi sucks all over the hotel so dont come in thinking youll do business calls (believe me I tried), the snacks could use more love from the kitchen. Pizza could choke you, the hotdogs are made in sweet bread... just wrong. I suggest the burgers, the ham and cheese, and the fries. All else, well, it could be better.

this place is not open but they will sure still take your reservation deposits!! theyve been closed down since the start of covid and they did not refund our very large group trip that was paid in full and they closed the resort. I heard they are filing for bankruptcy so they can get out of offering any credit to all of the dive shops who have paid for their trips. They will likely reopen under a different name. Dont get tricked people- we lost $15,000 for our group

Very poor food, cold food no choices. Very poorly run resort, rooms are in bad shape, from no water to scorching hot. Toilet not working most of thee times. No TV in room working. Lack of drink choices. Most staff was nice and tried to help. Administration staff blatantly said they didnt care about your room troubles. Beach area was nice but needs cleaning up alot of garbage.

The location is somewhat secluded which was perfect for our yoga retreat. For a personal holiday, you may feel a bit isolated. The hotel can arrange a car to take you around the island which we did. The food is not a highlight if this resort.

This was my daughters and my first trip to the tropics (no details, but it was just the two of us). Were we ever in for an experience. We arrived in a bus from the airport to cold fruit drinks, were given our keys, and told to have fun. The big bright room was a wonderful 16 degrees after the hot bus ride. We changed into our swimsuits and hit the beach.This resort is an amazing place. Its a bit weather-worn but I always saw them fixing and improving things, and it actually adds to the beauty of it. It gives it more of a seaside beach hut feeling. There are roosters and chickens, agouti everywhere (the staff call them watusa, or wild rabbits), and birds. There are a couple of wild monkeys that are part of the "family" here and are very entertaining. We also encountered peacocks, of course. The beach is beautiful and the water was around 27 degrees if I had to guess.The crew had organized a soccer game among the kids, but our luggage had arrived and we went to put things away and get our snorkelling stuff.We didnt see anything at first but that was because we were both complete noobs at snorkelling and were just off the beach. We hit the gazebo at the end of the dock on the east side of the island, put on our equipment and got in the water. I saw more sea life in the first ten seconds than Ive ever seen in one body of water. The reef is incredible. I was told Roatan has the second largest barrier reef in the world by a few different people, guests included. Its stunning. There is a huge variety of things to see, from hermit crabs, to weird lobster with no claws. Fish big and small, lots of blue and yellow. The tarpin come out at night (their eyes are red if you get them with your flashlightand you can see them from the end of the dock. The kids saw a big green eel the second night. I could hear them running away from the dock from my room, and the balcony door was closed (did I mention the room had a balcony? Ours faced due east, to the sunrise). Take a look at the satellite of this place. Thats all coral reef. Every morning Id walk along the beach with my bare feet in the water, coffee in hand, and see what had washed up from the night before. I called it my morning treasure hunt, and it truly is. Something new every day. This reef is very much alive, and beautiful.The dining room is big, with lots of places to sit. The food is varied, and buffet-style, three times a day. They also have an all-day snack bar where my daughter snuck lunch most days. They have burgers and fries and other stuff youd expect to eat on the beach. It was all included with our package. A la carte is also offered for those that want to spend some extra cash for a special occasion. Nothing is overly expensive in my opinion, except for the cab rides, which seem very overpriced, but I may have misunderstood. We didnt take one anyway because we found enough to do - or not do, if we didnt want - to keep us busy for the week and exhausted when we went to sleep at night.The staff is incredible. Everyone is friendly and helpful. English, French, and Spanish seem to be known by everyone. I dont know how they do it, but theyre good at it. The drinks are plenty, cold, and delicious, and theyll make a non-alcoholic version of any of them for the underage guests (legal drinking age in Honduras is 21 so the kids get a different colour wristband). There are nightly events and shows for the kids to start, then a few various family shows for a couple of hours, then a "discotheque" from 11 to midnight (I never made it that late into the evening, so I have no review of that. Forgive me). We saw traditional drumming and dance, a fire show followed by crystal balls, and some very funny staff members who also happen to be very good entertainers almost every night. There is no shortage of fun things to do there every day and night.We had the best week I personally have ever had, and Im sure my daughter would say the same. She pretty much did on the car ride home anyway.Will definitely return. Thanks for the memories.

We had our money moon here and it was really nice!! We had a great get away and food was very very good.Rooms are very clean, and have the basic needs, drinks and service its pretty nice, you can connect with nature very easily monkeys and guatusas all around.

The service here is great. The lady at the desk that checked us in was really perfect. I like the beach very much, also the food is nice and tasty. Variety of food is also very nice. Also there is a lot of cute animals. ☺️

My husband and I just spent a week here at the first of February. This is a 3 star resort so you need to keep that in mind. It is not a big chain resort you find all over the Caribbean. It was about 80% full when we were there which was nice to see, there are more beach chairs then there ever will be people so no issue finding one. The beaches are beautiful and raked everyone morning.The buffet is fine, I would not say it is out of this world but you will find enough local foods to satisfy. There was usually a pasta dish, potato, 3 types of meat, fish, two vegetable and something on the grill as well as a salad bar and 3 desserts. Perhaps not for a very picky eater but anyone willing to try new foods will be satisfied.The rooms have been renovated over the last few years but sadly it was cosmetic only they didnt fix the issues just went over them, so things are starting to fall apart again. They seem to like to build more new buildings rather than maintain the ones they have but that seems to be the norm here. You will find a TV in your room that may or may not work and a mini fridge with a pitcher of water but that is it. If you like your morning tea or coffee in our room before heading out, then bring a small kettle and your fixings. You can get paper coffee cups at the buffet any time which has a coffee station setup pretty much all day and night. There will be no blow drier in your room so you will need to bring that as well. But aside from that the rooms are perfectly fine except some people didnt have hot water while we were there, but we did. We had room 107 very close to the front entrance which we liked. They first placed us in Rm 714 and that was a very long trek to get to and it had no balcony, so we moved but the room itself was actually nicer. Just depends what you want. They also have a small farm on the island which has roosters, so you may be woke up at 4:00am by a few of these guys. For us we have them at home too, so we are used to it. There are a few monkeys here as well that you should not be feeding but they are friendly and vet inspected all the time.The snorkeling is amazing right off any of their beaches or from the dock which is where the divers went in. If you go out here at night you will see the Tarpon come in to feed under the light. They have a great dive shop and very good rates for diving from what I saw and heard as we do not dive.There is one bar here run by only two people and only one at a time so people did complain about how slow it was but honestly this isnt one of those places where people sit in the pool all day and drink. Most people that go here, dive, snorkel or go out and explore the island most of the day and just enjoy one or two drinks at the end of the day. The main pool is run down for sure and not used by many other than children. There is pool bar there, but it was never used while we were there. There is a newer pool down by the rooms in the 700 block but again didnt really get used that I saw. The beaches and the ocean are too nice to use a pool in my option.The staff were friendly, helpful and easy to deal with never any issues there.We found the location very good, it was away from the busy West End and the touristy area but close enough to go to the West End by taxi or you can rent a car for the day just keep in mind parking looked to be an issue in the west end. We went one day with a tour and spent some time at End of the World Beach Bar and Grill which is a great place just wish we had more time and we there at night. Chad Gibson the owner, is so friendly and helpful this place is a must try.Over all I would give this resort a good rating and we will most defiantly be returning.Show less

A really nice spot to get away and relax. Beautiful beaches and wonderful nature. You can see monkeys, peacocks, birds, watusa, and big iguanas. The staff is amazing and really made us feel welcome. All the staff was great but Enrique and Judith at the front desk were over and above amazing. Dinia in the dining room is wonderful, friendly and very helpful. The staff at the dive shop is top notch! Shout out to Pancho at the dive shop whos quick action probably saved a mans life who was snorkeling at the gazebo. The diving off the gazebo is great with a shipwreck and a sunken plane. Matteo in the lobby will arrange any tours or taxis you need. Great place.

Excellent diving/snorkeling, excellent food and service. Accomodtions are dated but adequate. Excellent dive shop and employees, right on the resort. Music can be too loud frequently, in the dining/lobby areas. They will trun it down if asked.

The beach was beautiful. The weather was not so nice, so we had the entire beach to ourselves. We took kayaks out on the ocean. But that is the extent of the positives.The resort itself (from what we sawseemed a bit run-down And the staff was not too friendly, I don’t think I’d like to stay for more than a day. The pool was filthy.We used a third party excursion company when we were on a cruise to Roatan. The armed guard was not aware that the resort sold day passes and was not going to let us pass. Our driver had to call her supervisor to even get us past the gate. The front desk staff wasn’t much better. They ignored our driver when she complained about the guard. The person manning the kayak booth and the girl behind the bar seemed like we were bothering them. Again, it was not a busy day.

I must say my stay at fantasy island was great. The beach and foliage is just breathtaking!!! Beautiful trees and areas to relax. They have 2 monkeys roaming free and was an absolute pleasure to see them in the trees and joined us for breakfast on occasion. Unlike anywhere Ive ever been !!!The food was good, fresh and tasty. Not much of variety but always enough to satisfy. The room left a little to be desired but was modern and always cleaned property. The location and ppl was just amazing! I loved it and would def return. Henry, who was always present in the dining room to make your experience as pleasant as possible went above and beyond!!! or Spongy at the front desk who was always there to make you smile. I really loved my stay tons of great memories for life

We visited this hotel just a few days ago and what a disappointment it was. Its dirty, no service whatsoever, didnt have anyone to help with Luggages, no phone in the room so you can call room service, we walked down the hallway which looked extremely filthy, the shower head in the bathroom was missing, the TV had no remote, they pump water from the ocean to fill the pool so it you swim in the beach and want to come to the pool for some fresh water forget about it.No towel service to go to the beach, no wifi unless you are in the reception, in other words………….never, ever, ever again.

One of the cheapest resorts on island. If your looking for high end... this is not it .If your looking for bang for your buck yes stay here. Small resort on secluded island was very quiet when we have stayed here in past .Not a far drive to west end or west bay ..watch out for the monkeys if they are still there .

If you’re traveling to Roatan for vacation and looking to save money this is the perfect place to stay. The hotel is located around 25 minutes from the airports and is well know for Honduran nationals which mean is more like a three-star hotel. The food was okay but no AC in the lobby or restaurant just one room. The beach areas are charming and the staff well educated. I loved my stay, and I’ll return to explore more.

Was expecting a lot more. The food was ok, my son got really sick from his tummy after eating the food from the resort. Im giving it 3 stars because the beach is amazing and beautiful.

Did not stay in the resort, however were there through an excursion on a cruise ship. The private beach cove was beautiful! Such clear water! We also took off on a snorkeling trip off of the coast where we got to witness a sunken ship! The guides were knowledgeable and safe! Thank you!

Friendly staff, very clean resort, amazing beach. Wifi is terrible very slow and only works in lobby sometimes. Food is ok but bacon only once a week and no seafood on menus which is weird being surrounded by fresh local seafood.Only 1 bar and limited alcohol. No rye on bar stock. Their wine is undrinkable. And they only have one type. Disappointed in food and drink.

Love the place because it is not your typical all-inclusive resort, meals although buffet, are very basic but enough choice and to be healthy also. Small, quiet and THE reason to come here is for the crystal Sea for swimming and snorkeling, no kids club (yeah!!), green lush settings and kind friendly helpful staff. Rooms and community area does not compare with the Mexican resorts but the incredible bay and beach right on the steps of the patio with restaurant having limited seating outside makes it not only peaceful but stress relieving to be here. Came by myself but recommend for single or couple who simply want to relax in the beauty of HIS nature.

Oh how I wanted to love this place! Yes, it is a 3 star on an absolutely stunning beach but it could be so much more and it is not.Lets start off by saying that it has one of the most amazing beaches and locations but very little care for the precious environment it is in! This resort is not eco friendly at all.I could not get over how this resort is on the second largest Barrier Reef in the world yet uses plastic cups for all their drinks that the guests have (other than if they sit down for a meal in the restaurant). So you can imagine being at a resort where people are drinking at the beach all day how much plastic is being used and then just discarded on the ground. Plastic straws, stir sticks ND cigarette butts litter the beach and even out into the water theres a lot of trash. My husband could not believe when he was out snorkeling how much garbage there was in the water in front of the resort.The front desk and bar staff were not welcoming or friendly at all. It was really like you were bothering them. When we travel, it is about the people, and many of these workers could not be bothered to even give a smile or a warm hello. The workers and the yellow shirts or engaging and so where the cleaning staff but first impression is important and the front desk staff really did not seem to enjoy their job.There is a pool bar, that was not open at all when we were there. Theres also supposed to be a snack station which again was not open at all while we were there. so if you are hungry, your only option between meals is to go to the gift shop and pay $4 for a Twix bar or $6 for a can of Pringles.You couldnt wish for more tropical lush setting and I absolutely love the idea of the hammocks on the balcony.Unfortunately the buildings are getting very run down and although they are trying to refurbish them its all in the details.They are using bright colors turquoise and lime-green in the lobby but by using a cheaper material it is already showing wear, the seams are splitting front seat cushions and quite a lot of stains are visible, making them look quite grungy already.We had two King beds in our room. They are extremely firm which I loved and have the best sleep ever but if you do not like hard beds, you will not enjoy a good night sleep.Having chickens and roosters running around the property, does give it that secluded feel that also makes you feel like you are in a farmyard.... myself, when I am on a vacation oh, I did not want to be woken up by a rooster. The first morning it was kind of cool then I got very tired of it. We also ended up with a chicken in our room.There had been a great bout of sargassum algae hit the beaches (and most areas of the Caribbean, it is unavoidablebefore we got there, and the workers worked tirelessly raking and hauling trailer loads of it away to get the beach looking beautiful. They did an awesome job!The food is good for one or two days but then it is fairly repetitive with a slight twist on it daily.They have so many beach lounge chairs and areas where you can be in the shade or sun if you want, that is the most outstanding trait of this Resort.The young girl in the gift shop is amazing and such a sweetheart.The dive shop is absolutely incredible and my husband thoroughly enjoyed the dives he went on in the people who took them out.This Resort is one of the quietest Resorts we have ever been at and since it is on an island you are not close to anything.We changed resorts after 2 days.I hope the owners really know what a gem they have and start treating it as such as it could be top notch spot if they started caring about the environment it was in and cleaning up the place!

My husband and I spent a week here a few years ago. I was a little hesitant due to reports of crime, but this resort is fairly safe, there is only one road onto the island and it has security at the entrance to the resort. The location is beautiful, amazing beaches. Rooms are adequate, but quite often we had no water in the bathroom so that we could shower/wash. The food was OK but there were flies all over it, my husband and I both got sick after eating there, so learned what to avoid. Lunch was the best bet as it wasnt sitting out. It was served at the snack bar near the beach and was prepared and served right away. There is all kinds of wildlife wandering around the island, which is charming, often sharing your lunch with geese, ducks, peacocks etc. The hotel itself was old and needed a little maintenance/updating but this is par for low cost holidays in the Caribbean, so nothing to be alarmed about - I dont think people go on vacation to sit inside, so its not an issue. There were monkeys everywhere, such fun, every day they were outside of our room when we went for breakfast and they were incredibly friendly, sitting on your arm and being playful. The beach was wonderful, and snorkelling was very good. We packed light and thought wed buy sunscreen etc when we arrived to help support their economy. We went to the shop to buy sunscreen and supplies on our first day, but it was closed and we were told to walk to the beach shop - it didnt have any and we got burned walking there - the rest of the week we spent in the shade. This resort is beautiful if you overlook the condition and poor food hygiene. Staff were fine, we had one waiter who was particularly friendly. All in all Id love to return; without food poisoning and sunburn Im sure it would be memorable for all the right reasons.

Fantastic resort! The staff were super friendly and accommodating. The rooms were very clean and comfy. The food was delicious with lots of selection from day to day. The beach....well the beach is the best Ive been to! Dont let the 3 star rating deter you. Ive stayed at plenty if 5 stars and had terrible experiences. This is a must see. I will be returning!!! I came here and it was not soo bad. I wouldnt recommend getting a room so far away from the lobby, since you wont have a good view from your balcony onto the ocean Beach front. My room came with all you can drink alcohol and buffet. They have a nice pool area and the ocean is clear light blue like Hawaii. If your with friends and family but still want something quiet then this place is it. If your looking for lots of people, noise, bars and excitement then head over to West End.If your rich or have money to spend then stay at the Pristine Bay you wont regret it. The only thing is that its very VERY lonely since its expensive.Wherever you stay, you WILL ENJOY THE ISLAND!! 😀

We just got back from here. I was Leary with some of the reviews. But we enjoyed our time. The rooms were not as outdated as reviews said. It is a 3 star resort so if people are trying compare to a 5 then yes. But u cant do that!!! Rooms were clean n fresh n nicely kept, with views to die for. You sleep with balcony door open n listen to ocean waves all night. Sheets n towls replaced daily n rooms cleaned. Nor sure why others had issues wirh cleaned towls, plus would could bring our dirty one to lobby to exchange. Room had 5 towls a day put in. The beds were cozy n comfy I slept so good. And yes they have closets wirh shelves to put clothes folded n hang up as well with mirrors so unsure why people said they had to live out of suit cases. The food was tasty but fatty... Just average . There cold foods were not kept on ice n chilled so thats my only complaint, they used fans n thats not proper for sicknesses wirhout being covered. Food did rotate some daily, so there was some changes but very American. I just stayed to cooked foods. THE snack bar pizza was to die for...yummy. The bar tender was wonderful n friendly, and the people around the resort as well. Entertainment people were wonderful friendly as well. The beaches were the best, to die for. I loved the privacy. Not too much of a wild croud like on the west end, so if you like the parties n crazy croud then this is not that. Its more private n relaxing with some fun. We had a blast! I enjoyed kayaking and feeding the fish n swimming wirh them off the peir. So all for all beach a 5star plus. Service 5star n Rooms a food average. Good deal all in all . So not sure why no many poor reviews. High standards I guess with lack of knowing what the difference is between a 3star n 5star. Weve been to the Barcelo in Mexico n that way top of the line so we know.

All depends on what your desire is. This is not a 5 star in Mexico. More like a small 4 star resort in Cuba. Great service. Excellent beach driving and snorkeling. Quiet place. Not a place for parties either. Did the trick for us just wanting to get away from it all.

Good only if you scuba dive. Overall, 2*, ran down, no hot water, cold and repetitive food. Everything is so far away and expensive. Horrible drinks and and beer. By 10 pm the whole place becomes a ghost town. Acceptable only if you bring grandma and her friends.

Not fancy, very casual. Good food selection. No night life period. Rooms are pretty standard, clean enough. Awesome spot to spend a few days vacation. Checked in to find 2 monkeys on my balcony. Its a love/hate relationship between the guests, the mostly friendly staff and the resident monkeys. The beach is totally private to the resort. The Resort is aging but how many hotels have their very own large shipwreck a short swim from the property? Well managed and kept clean, even though local Honduran tourists that descend on the place regularly for overnight short stays have no respect for nature and spoil the pristine beach by littering plastic bar cups... (Why the hell cant some people learn to use travel mugs or re-use a cup instead of leaving their empties on the sand all day long)? Excellent swimming lagoon ringed by rock. Dive shop right next to rooms- super convenient if you are staying to dive the many sites close by with Chris and Rina: two Canadians who love the area and give great service to the dive tourists. My daughter did her PADI OW and was on the dive boat with the rest of us in two days enjoying two tank dives on multi sites including wrecks. Loved the diving here, boats are spacious and small groups going out twice a day. More dive sites than you can visit in a week. Get an oceanview room away from the lobby if you can.

Excellent DIVE experience. Beautiful beaches. Food had a LOT of selection. We did not go hungry. Now for the accommodations, no hot or even warm water to shower in. They failed to pick us up at the airport even after confirmation. A lot of very nice employees on resort but need different front desk girls as they do not make first good impression. Our room did not look made up when we arrived but got better as week went on. A/C in room was great. Love the monkeys on site. Not often do you get to carry and snuggle with monkeys. They are trying to do improvements will go back again.

We spent a week here and dove with their dive shop. The hotel is older, so dont expect a 5 star resort (Id say 2.5-3 starbut the rooms are clean, staff are friendly, the monkeys, and other wildlife make it interesting. The dive shop with Rena and Chris are fantastic diving and dive sites. Beautiful reefs.

I can honestly say that a 1 star is being generous! The hotel is run down, unmaintained and not clean. The smell of urine in the public bathrooms is sickening not to mention the septic smell that greets you when walking into the reception area. The bedding is probably 50 years old and the towels you could exfoliate with. You are lucky to find utensils but you probably dont want to eat what they are serving anyway. This is not an All Inclusive as you have to pay for water, drinks etc...The only thing that they have going for them is the Snorkeling/Diving in the area...do yourself a favour and stay somewhere else in Roatan as the Island is Beautiful!

Pretty beach. Hotel is run down. My bed was really hard and felt every spring. The headboard creaked because it wasnt attached. And no blanket, just a sheet. Dive staff wasnt very helpful when trying to rent a mask, they seemed too busy to bother (not busy). Dinner was pretty OK.

Just been there on Feb 2016Very private, amazing ocean view like paradise. Hotel is very old, yet clean.I like to go there again Just because of their dive shop, so amazing, (specially thanks to Chris for helping me get my license on the second day). both dive masters were fantastic, very passionate about their job and very friendly, good boats nicely set up for all our gears and air tanks, such a nice and helpful captain (thanks for watermelon and pineapples after divesnice storage room to leave our gear. I give this PADI dive shop 5 stars. Thank you all. (my 5 stars is for the dive shop!)Hotel is located in a very unique area surrounded by ocean so beautiful.I give the hotel only 3 stars, I think they need to renovate the bathrooms, at least ! it was clean but very old . Food was ok, not many options but I found the food was better than some 4 stars and 5 stars when it comes to taste.If you want to relax in a private set up resort and you can handle an older accomodation, this place is great
