Family Museum in Moline
Description
Privilege
You could tell this place was focused on kids from the start. The parking spaces were decorated, the building was in bright colors. Upon going in, there was no wait and it was $9/ per person which for me being from the Chicago land area was unheard of.The people at the desk answered all of my questions and near the entrance was also a mothers room the doubles as a sensory space. This place is decked out for kids. The climbing tower thingy was so much fun, and they had loads of centers.Vet, fire station, bakery, grocery store and a few others. They also had a four and under area, a farm/apple orchard area, music zone, and bathrooms located throughout.I did not go upstairs because we were killing time until a wedding and dressed for it, but was informed they had a series of different arts and crafts.Their gift shop was small, but unlike our area, things were pretty reasonably priced. My kid picked out gifts for four people and only spent $17. We spent 2 hours easily and of we had gone upstairs I think I would have spent another hour easily. If Im in the area again, I would definitely go.
MoreGrand kids had a blast here. There was lots for them to do.
Great for young kids, so much to do and most of the time my 2 and 4yo entertain themselves.
MoreThe family museum is the best thing in the Quad Cities! I have a three year old and a one year old. We go to the museum at least three times a week and have for the past two years. My son is in the Pre-K and Spanish classes and they are great! Best value for kids hands down!
MoreVery hands on. So many learning activities for the kids to play. And the arts and crafts room was amazing!!!!
MoreA fun place for our toddlers to explore, play with other kids, and learn.
Got the little guy out of the house and enjoyed the amazing interactive exhibits. Definitely a fun place for the whole family.
MoreTook my Deaf 10 year old there last week and the admissions lady signed to my son!! It was so awesome for him and he had so much fun!!
MoreA local gem. Kids ask to go here all the time. Dont miss the art room on the second floor
MoreMy first time there while visiting from out of state to see my grandkids. They have a membership. It was a great place. We spent lots of time in the craft area. Their fave thing to do.
MoreThis is a great place for families to come. Staff is always nice. Hours of fun
Kids loved it, they want to go again in the future. Lots of things for them to do and the staff were very kind. Definitely going back at some point.
MoreLots of activities for the kids. Outside play areas too. Great place!
Excellent museum for kids under 13 years old. Always well staffed and cleaned up.
MoreGreat for kids up to 8 years old. After that they get bored. Friendly staff and a lot to do for the money.
MoreMy son (4 years oldloves this place. Weve been bringing him since he was about a year old. Hes always excited to go and has a great time!
MoreOur family had the best time and spent hours exploring. Our 4 year old is very very hard to keep interested but we spent 3.5 hours here no problem
MoreThis place is a special treat for our kids. A fun safe space for them to explore the interconnectivity of a town. They also have a wonderful climbing structure. My 11 year old did lose interest. So this may be more for elementary level kids and younger. There is a toddler section, but the was no staff enforcing it so there were a lot of big kids in the little kid area. I wanted to set my baby down and had to actively keep big kids from stepping on her (in the toddler area)
MoreAbsolutely a great place for kids. Plenty of things to see, climb on, and do. They have a huge craft area where kids and adults can work on crafts. Theres even wood to work with. Its a wonderful place. We would have spent more time in there, but found that late. Kids will not be bored in this place. Well worth the price of admission here. You and your kids will not be sorry.
MoreIn town visiting family and we came here for the first time. It was so much fun! We have a 4 and 1 year old. Lots of fun and the price was great
MoreAlways clean, staff is friendly and my daughter has a great time
It’s an odd and sort of misleading name that does little to describe what you’ll find here. We spent an afternoon here last month and my 2 and 3 year old kids absolutely loved it. If we went back again (we’re not localsI’d purchase the annual membership as it can be used at many other places around the country including numerous interactive science centers for kids. The only reason I dropped a star is that the second floor art activity room is a bit disorganized and when we were there a number of the art supplies they listed that the kids could use were not available (wood pieces were all gone, no pallets for paint, to name a few). It just didn’t match the quality and thoughtfulness of the main first floor exhibit.
MoreThe family museum is always great but this time they added a thomas the train exhibit that my kids loved. Highly recommended.
MoreGreat place for kids to learn and play. Every thing there is interactive so kids can explore and learn while having fun. I would definitely go back again.
MoreWe had a blast
It was really a great time with our grand child and his parents.
Nicely maintained play area for kids to enjoy. They have an art room as well for little older kids.
MoreMy two year old had a wonderful experience here! Staff was super friendly. We spent close to two hours here. it was super affordable
MoreOur kids had a blast! So many hands on activities!
Great museum for kids to enjoy all the play areas. We almost couldnt get my child to leave. I loved that they have classroom for the kids to paint and do more activities other than the play areas on the first floor. Great place for toddlers.
MoreWe spent 3 hours there with a 4 year old. She didnt want to leave because of all the interactive things to do. They also had a classroom setting for painting, drawing, cutting out things, etc with persons to give instruction.
MoreA neat set up for younger children. Probably age eight and below. Sadly there hasnt been any changes or updates really to the permanent exhibits in years. . Additionally there are limited supplies for the interactive portions (lil sippi the water based exhibit, and even the firefighter set up.)
MoreIn the imagination station I made a toilet, and every time I took a picture with the artwork I was funny.
MoreThis museum has been the same for years and years. I do wish they could add more and or change up more. (Other than the traveling exhibitsThis is geared towards younger kids. My older kids get bored quickly UNTIL we go upstairs to the art room. The art room is amazing and my older kids will spend hours creating there. They love the wood working portion and being able to build and decorate their own vision. The staff in this area is fantastic with helping and giving creative insights. My son built a wooden tiger and the guy took a picture of it to put in the ideas book. Im not sure if this book is even real but he made my sons entire month with that! Overall its a nice place that kids can spend a good few hours playing and or creating.
More5 and 2 year olds had an absolute blast with lots to do and play with. Each activity had a lot of opportunities for easy educational conversations. We also appreciate they rotate "exhibits"
MoreLot of the interactive items where not working and one closed most are working. That said we still had a great time. Our 7 year old still enjoyed it very much and even made us climb up down with him. Great bang for your buck. $27 for two adults and 1 child.
MoreMy 4 year old loved it and we were impressed with the quality of the displays. The farm to market section shows the growing, harvesting, packaging and market. Theres a nice water table inside where kids can adjust water flow. The climbing feature is wonderful. The art room is well stocked and supervised. I saw kids who made wooden airplanes and clay pots. The outside play area includes water tables and a small splash area, butterfly pavilion, and a big airplane for climbing, sliding, and pretend play.
MoreVery fun! My kids always have a blast!
Such a fun place!!! Extremely interactive!!!
We loved the subtle Quad City theming to play areas (QC bridges incorporated into the water play zone, for instance). There’s a lot to do to keep younger children busy and imaginatively playing. The outside play area was a great perk.
MoreThere is so much for the kids to do. I was completely shocked. They can pretend to be bakers to mail carriers. They even have a farming section. If your children love arts and crafts, there is a place upstairs. The museum is a must go to place.
MoreMy kids love this place but they are starting to grow up a bit and don’t have much for my kids who are 8 now. But my 2 year old daughter absolutely loves this place! I am so glad I decided to keep our membership there for her to enjoy! She loves playing upstairs in the think studio where you can use your imagination to create anything out of anything! Here are a few photos of the place, these pictures don’t do this place justice! They have a huge climbing airplane (playgroundoutside that has a few mini slides. Inside they have a netted climbing area in the inside near the commons area that the kids enjoy climbing thru as well.
MoreGreat place for children 2 and up my son had a blast! And the workers are soo nice and helpful really enjoyed ourselves
MoreLove this place my son had a full days worth of fun and learning. Had to promise to come back just to get him out the door.
Morewhat an awesome place! Staff are super friendly and helpful and accommodating. Our son is 7 and Autistic and I do believe this will be one of his favorite places to go!
MoreExcellent place for kids and parents to play together!! Safe, colorful, creative, great exposure to real life places. The Luckey Climber is a beautiful addition!!
MoreI take my niece and my kids everytime. Theres so many things to do, its one of their most favorite places to visit. From dress up to tree houses to how water in canals and rivers work along with pipe flow. From teaching to grocery shop and how produce gets to the grocery store, theres something for almost all ages, even my littlest got exhausted just watching 😂
MoreWonderful, fun filled experience! So much to do and learn about there! Clay room and other additional activities!
MoreSuch an amazong place. A huge shout out to the girl who ran the think shop our past like 3 visits she is so great with the kids. She really makes it a good exsperiance. The way she engages with them about their projects is so special. I wish i new her name I only know it starts with a K.
MoreMy kids love this place. Its got a bunch of play areas where kids can have fun. My daughter really loves the post office area and delivering the mail to the different places (grocery store, vet, farm, shoe storeinside the museum. My toddler loves the bridge and the little house. Its a fantastic place for kids to burn off some energy, use their imagination, play, and learn :-it seems like its aimed towards younger children, so perhaps older kids (10 plus maybe??)might not be as into it.
