Community museum featuring cultural artifacts related to city history, plus local art exhibits.
Although the museum’s setting is nothing fancy, I was impressed by the content. I liked the display about Togo the dog, the exhibit about the 1967 Fairbanks flood, the story of Irene, the “queen of Fairbanks,” and more—including the original newspaper cuttings of coverage on the 1964 Great Earthquake and the 1989 Valdez oil spill.
Its free and has lots of cool photos and items from local history. Its worth a visit.

The dog mushing museum is filled with a bunch of cool artifacts and memorabilia that can have you in there for a couple hours. There are a great couple videos that provide an awesome amount of informational content and there are a lot of great restaurants nearby to fill up on some food before you jump back in. The museum is free but its always great to donate some money to keep supporting the shop.
Closed during posted hours. Couldn’t visit.
Incredible set of photos and pieces from the Yukon gold rush. Good section on the history of fairbanks major flood and the association of the town with dog sledding. Considering how much there is for the size and being free its a pretty nice spot to spend a couple hours.
Very nice little museum! So interesting and full of history...
Learn about it. Wild Alaska!
Fantastic little gem of a place! And the best part? Its free! Make sure you buy something in the gift store though to help support the museum 😉 Great exhibits on Fairbanks, especially the history of the town and surrounding areas. Plus all the info on dogsledding + memorabilia. Also, visit the stores in the same building for some more hidden gems.
Very nice museum. I highly recommend it.
Great community resource and friendly staff! It’s on the second floor of a strip mall but well worth the visit!
Local history
Free but indeed so informative..Staff so helpful
Not to be missed! A super little FREE museum showcasing Klondike Gold rush and the history of AK dog sled mushing and racing! You can easily spend 20 min. - 2 hours here.
Dont let Google Maps fool you when you look it up on your phone. Its inside the creepy looking mall area. The mall itself it cool BTWs. We loved reading about the mining, dog sledding, and Great Flood history that the museum had to offer. Seeing relics and newspapers really put you in the shoes of those that had to live through those periods in history. The video on dog sledding was very fun and informative too! This place really shows the importance of preserving local history no matter how small your town is.
Small shops of handmade stuffs. Great place to shop for small handmade gifts for family and friends. Local people run these shops. They have few musium and free entry. If wants to gain some local knowledge, swing by this place.
If youre on a cruise tour, dont miss this. $5 admission & $3 for seniors. Has the best dog musher history and artifacts, and Fairbanks history.
