Fa. Cafe-Bistro Hansel and Gretel - Cafe in Amsterdam, Netherlands
Presentation was good, club sandwich was a bit dry no butter or a humus on bread.Generous with the fillings.Nice ambience
Liked this place a lot. Only in Amsterdam 5days, and visited twice - first time just for a couple of glasses of wine when weary from sightseeing, and on another day for an evening meal. So many places shut at 5pm, if you dont want a full-on menu its difficult to find places. This one fills the bill. Good location, nice casual vibe.
Very sweet. The blond and young waitress was very nice to me.
Sunny spot on the side of the canal & close to the Rijksmuseum. Nice selection of beers, pancakes & snacks.
Good choice of food and drinks. Burgers were great and Wienerli Snitzel was also very nice. Quite big portions. Very friendly staff and good indoor and outside space.
Great soup! And the sandwichs and service were great as well!
I went to this Cafe after a visit to the Rijksmuseum as it was very close to it. Unfortunately I was ignored by the waitress after I sat down. I was by myself and wanted a drink after visiting the Museum. I sat down in the outside area and waited. I signaled multiple times to the waitress to come over and she ignored me. Then a couple who had just arrived sat down and the waitress went over to them served them straight away. I said to the waitress I should be served first and I had been waiting for over 20 minutes. She just stared at me blanky and continued to serve the couple. I felt annoyed at this point to I stood up and left. It is not fair to ignore some customers.
My husband and I stumbled upon this restaurant our first night on vacation because of its proximity to our hotel. It was cosy inside and I loved the pub decor! They had great beer and food selection, and service was quick and very friendly! My husband had the fish and chips and I had the veggie burger! Both of our meals we agree were one of the best we had our entire trip! Also, first time trying bitterballens, and we loved them!
Came here 10 years ago, and was sadly disappointed. Service was poor, and we asked for some crepes which were disappointing. A chocolate crepe is just a regular plain and nature crepe and they give you some small nutella packs to put it yourself on the crepe.
We stopped here to get something to drink. The inside of the restaurant is decorated in Rolling Stones memorabilia everywhere as well as a few other items. Most of the seating is outside with a few inside. Staff was friendly.
Nice little bar that we stopped at on our way back to our hostel after doing a canal tour nearby. We took a cute little table outside hugging the wall of the building. Was table service and was served very quickly buy a friendly man my drunk husband kept calling Gaston🙈 nice little bar area inside and very winding, precarious stairs to get downstairs to the toilet.
The chicken sate was deliciously tender. Furthermore, the guy with the glasses, who is speaking English fluently, is so kind and attentive. Such a person is invaluable to a restaurant. 1 small minus, the fresh orange juice was not great.
Nice spot, good for some people watching, on the beaten route between the museums and the city enter. Crowd consist mainly of tourist, but if you don’t mind that, it’s fine. Had the burger for lunch, which was just fine …
I stopped by this cafe after a visit of Rijksmuseum for the whole afternoon, just to relax and catch the happy hours on a Friday afternoon. The cafe is just next to the canal, and you can watch cyclists busy passing by. I got a beer and some shrimp snacks, it was very nice to enjoy the glowing sunset light. Highly recommend it! Cheers!
Nice touristy spot to enjoy a Duval outdoors on a late summer’s evening.
Stopped for a snack after museum and shopping. Cafe is located in an ideal spot with outdoor seating. Piri piri gambas is like pil pil from Spain. shrimp was yummy I asked for it with low to no spice and it was perfect. Cheese and sausage plate was also very nice.
the staff was rude and didn’t serve us for ages. the waitress couldn’t tell me any prices for the beers and didn’t know what was in the vegetarian burger after she told me the burger i originally wanted wasn’t available. when our burgers came they were very plain and didn’t have any sauce on them. overall bad experience and nothing truly tasted dezent.
Had such an amazing morning in Amsterdam today until I went to this cafe. Had a nice lunch here but when I went to pay at the bar, the lady attempted to cheat me by swapping the amount put through on the cash machine from 34 Eur to 43 EUR. Was done very fast and very professionally with "slight of hand" hoping I wouldnt notice and of course, no receipt. She said it was not possible to get a receipt from the machine but when I asked to see the history on the machine, she pretended it was a silly mistake and quickly paid me back in cash.BUYER BEWARE
Sandwiches are not pricey but not very special. The servers are very nice. It was uncomfortable to finish my Smoked Chicken Sandwich in the patio because of the bees. It was a awful expérience for just a quick bite. I am happy the server replaced my Amstel Radler without charging me because it gets the bee on my drink as well.
Street aide cafe serving nice food, pretty standard menu for a cafe un Amsterdam but the quality of it was very good and fair priced for its location.
Try new Traditional Amsterdam raw beef sausage! Very special , taste good .
Outside sealing is on a corner between two roads. Safe enough though. We had a nice lunch.
Good, beer knowledgeable staff. Tasty food. Could use..... more shade, and the schnitzel needs a cream sauce. I liked the frites.
Many things sold out on menu. Basic questions about the menu could not be answered. They gave us three sets of cutlery for four people. We asked for a fourth set, but it never came.
Very welcoming place. I had pesto pasta and it was very delicious. The employees are very kind and smiling. Thank you.
Nice little place to spot by for a bite after seeing some museums. Food has served quick and the beer was cold. Crispy fries and tasty schnitzel. The staff were really nice as well. The location peers over a busy street so you can get some quality people watching in as well. Haha!
I dont drink and got shamed for just wanting water with my meal. She just jumped down my throat and said, its not like America here. Im Canadian and I just didnt know what was considered appropriate as it was my first day in Amsterdam or the Netherlands. Really unnecessarily rude, especially when youre traveling alone.
This is one of my favorite places to go when the weather is sunny. You can seat outside beside a corner and enjoy good meal, drink, watching street and people and moreover the atmosphere . I have seen also some musician play live beside the corner which adds more fun to the atmosphere . The meal and service is great. We usually have burger , also taste dishes like bitter ballen are very fresh and delicious
If you want to wait 45min just to order, this is a perfect place to go! Waitress completely ignored us even after calling her a couple of times. We left without ordering because who knows how long we would still have to wait. Awful service.
Waitress ignored us for 15 minutes. After we asked for the menu, and called her 5 times she still ignored us. Somehow she could see the other tables around. Left after 30 minutes without any single interaction. We got this Bistro recommended by a friend actually, what a shame..
An okay place in a great location. There is plenty of outdoor seating for when the weathers good but the food itself wasnt the best
Nice place in the heart of Amsterdams tourist center. Really close to the museum square. Good place to have a beer after visiting a museum, such as the Rijksmuseum or the Van Gogh.
Left the place after waiting for 2 beers for 25 minutes. We saw they gave our orders to another table, told them about it but still couldnt get them.
People were rude. Food and drinks took over 45 min to get and were not very good. The table next to us never even got drinks. This place is awful and there are plenty of other great places in the area. Do yourself a favor and avoid.
We had the apple pancake and a club sandwich. Very good food. Staff was friendly and service was fast. Great stop when visiting Rijksmuseum.
Great coffee, nice place, friendly staff. Prices are a little bit higher.
Beautiful cafe located right on the river around the museums. The seating with clean and so was the inside of the building. The food was also phenomenal. I went with the traditional ossenworst. We arrived right before lunch and when we left the place was packed. I would definitely recommend visiting if you are on that side of Amsterdam.
Came for a few drinks after a long day of sight seeing. Was able to find a seat outside and the server came right over! Enjoyed the sun, views and hospitality.
Wonderful cafe bar, close to the Rijksmuseum. It was reasonably priced, fast friendly service and we had some amazing beers and delicious sandwiches (Broodjeshere. We can thoroughly recommend it as a place to catch your breath and fill your belly whilst doing the tourist thing in Amsterdam.
Fantastic small Cafe.... less than a 5 minute walk from the Rijksmuseum, great service, good food, and if you are lucky enough to sit on the second floor you will have beautiful views of the canals through the small windows and feel like a true Amsterdammer.
It was a very rainy day when we went. They overpacked the place. I was left next to an ATM with about 5cm left side to side. the waiter spilled water over me and didn’t offer much help. Food is alright, but expect to pay inflated Amsterdam prices
Wandered up for lunch and glad we did. First dutch pancake for me and my wife, very delicious. Similar to a crepe but slightly thicker, we chose for a savory route. My wife went with ham while I did goat cheese and bacon. Wonderful! Had a seasonal beer and a local one though I forget the name, both were great to wash it all down. Good service too!
The salad I ordered was 15,50€, and it was the worst salad on the planet. Also i think the menu said 12,50€. It was supposed to be a chicken salad, but there was some kind of cutlery on top of it. The waitresses were nice.
Wonderful place! Nice people, great food and great atmosphere.
Good breakfast. Good portions and great coffee. Service is also very good. 😊
Pub grub great, banter a laugh a good place to stop and rest. Busy corner a hub in Amsterdam. I forgot to take picture of the Chicken club sandwich.
The food was so good we were back the second time! We had Dutch pea soup (both vegetarian and meat versions), pancake with apples, cheeseburger with fries, and of course gluwein (which Im told is seasonal). Everything was delicious and the view from the windows is spectacular! The pricing was decent (around 9-13 euros per person for lunch), and the service was fast.
This place is great if you want to try very good beer or just to talk with locals..they are very kind. Great location near the water, cool music, good parties at weekend.
Lovely little place with old money stapled above the bar with message written on them by travelers I guess. Copper pot and pans hanging as ornaments with an turn of the century vibe throughout the place. Very nice. They serve food too which is cooked on a different level as they use an old dumb waiter to move the dishes backs and forth. Definitely stop here for a drink and a bite to eat.
Really nice place. The stairs are a little bite too steeper but the place is nice and the view is beautiful. I enjoy a good meal with my girlfriend and I believe that I will go back soon to eat there
