FONDUE HOUSE DU PONT in Luzern
Description
Privilege
Nice restaurant, came at night and it was full and yet the waitress was nice. The fondue was great, also the cocktails
MoreFantastic place in the home of Fondue! Lots of variations to the menu so if you get the chance to go back again and again, ya gotta!
MoreI walked in as soon as they opened today (11 Oct 22and they seated me straight away and were extremely helpful, the service here is incredible.I’m a solo traveller and it was lovely to have kind servers that chatted with you when they came to the table.I ordered the raclette cheese fondue and the chocolate fondueThey also are very helpful with how to do the fondue as the contraption was a bit daunting! They also have large portion sizes, my one person portion was definitely enough for two.Great food and fantastic service, would recommend anyone wanting to try fondue to come here!TIP make a reservation and get a window seat they have a beautiful view out of the window that they open up fully
MoreGreat fondue and friendly staff which gives it 4 stars. Good views across the Rheuss to the Jesuit Church.Underwhelming entrance and owners children in the greeting area which is fine but means its not 5 stars for me. Enjoyed the fondue immensely.
MoreBest cheese fondue Ive eaten in Switzerland so far! The cheese fondue comes with unlimited refill of boiled potatoes and bread, and the chocolate fondue comes with a plate of fruits. We also ordered chicken in case it wasnt enough. Great service and food here, would definitely recommend anyone in Lucerne to come here and try!
MoreWe came in a group of 3, and the portion for 2 pax is lovely. Swiss milk chocolate is perfect with strawberries and bananas. The staff is so supportive and friendly. Highly recommended.
MoreThe food was amazing! If you get the fondue, they give large portions so be prepared to eat a lot. I loved the cozy atmosphere of the restaurant.
MoreVery delicious food, incredible service especially shout out to our amazing waitress Ha who was hilarious and great server. Highly recommended, portions large so recommended getting less than you think you need
MoreMy mother convinced me we had to try fondue while in Switzerland. From an American perspective, this was hands down the best food we had in Lucerne. Each course was delicious and we loved our view from the balcony.
MoreDelicious fondue, we try the moitie moitie cheese fondue for 3, and they recharge more cheese and bread for no extra. The service is more than amazing, super kind and the place is very nice. The price, is Switzerland so is accurate. Totally recommended
MoreLove this place, excellent food and service. We had cheese and chocolate fondue, although the resturant filled up as we started our dinner, the service team continues to put on their great smiles, and pander to our requests and beyond. All the best to the intern Haz who served us. He was awesome!
MoreFondue is just food dipped in cheese or fruit dipped in chocolate, it’s just not that type of cuisine i like.Nonetheless it’s still worth trying once to get the full Swiss experience. Our seats by the window and our servers were very nice, made the whole experience better
MoreOmg this was amazing!! Best fondue!! We read reviews and my husband absolutely wanted to order the same as the photo 😂 it ended up being really nice and we were full!! Soo.. we order fondue bourguignonne, cheese and chocolate! It was more than enough and my husband eats a lot!! I highly recommend this place 👌and then some absinthe 🤦🏻♀️
MoreWonderful service even better food! I will be coming back
Loved this place! Friendly staff and very accommodating! We had the goat cheese fondue ( which is great for lactose sensitive peoplewhich was to die for! and they were super accommodating with gluten allergies. They have gluten free bread which was so nice to have the option at no addition cost! Would def recommend :)
MoreFavorite fondue place in lucerne. A little on the pricey end, but great seating, great menu, and absolutely stunning customer service. Go, but be prepared for some sticker shock.
MoreHuge portions and raclette was amazing. They take reservations, but we walked in around 8:30pm and were able to get a table! The people who work here are really nice. In addition, you dont need to buy two portions of fondue, raclette, or any other item, but rather you have the option to mix and match!
MoreHands down the best fondue my husband and I have ever had. Our server Maria, provided great advise and service. She spoke multiple languages and made sure that we understood what we were ordering and had the best experience possible! If you are interested in Fondue dont miss Fondue HouseDu Pont in Luzern.
MoreAs a visitor to Lucern, I came during the first week of August/2022 to try out this restaurant given the good reviews I have read. I came in right at 5 pm (the restaurant opening time). Only one table was occupied by a family, and other tables were unoccupied. The waitress was not professional and treated me as if she is doing me a favor finding me a table. She said all tables are reserved, but I can have you sit down here (she pointed at a table that has no view, and located close to the kitchen). I told her no thank you and left, she turned away and continued her food service to the other family. With this bad hospitality, I have zero interest trying their food. I ended up going to another restaurant just next to it. I dont recommend this place to visitors and tourists, as largely this restaurant does not welcome walk in customers without reservations.
MoreCould not have asked for a better meal!! The staff was extremely helpful and seemed genuinely happy to teach us how to properly enjoy our fondue experience. The view from the riverside porch seating makes a great meal even better. I recommend booking a reservation but walk-ins may be accommodated.
MoreGreat experience, including food, service and perfect view. Very happy night here.
MoreVery famous cheese fondue restaurant.Delicious food and nice staff.
This was our first time trying swiss fondue and it was a great experience. The ladies serving us were very kind and accommodating. The restaurant was full but we were offered a nice table outside with a cute view of the river. We ended up preferring that to sitting inside where we felt the smell of cheese was a bit overpowering! We had both the classic and truffle cheese fondue with extra beef and chicken to dip in. We followed that by a chocolate fondue with fruits for dipping. We loved our experience and would recommend this place if youre in Lucerne.
MoreBad experience overall for several reasons.1. Not too busy- had a reservation, got seated in a poorly ventilated section upstairs and it was quite hot2. Old place with outdated / ugly decor3. Busy waitress who was nice to it seems everyone but us.4. Others who came after us got served before us.5. Confusing menu with not only expensive choices but several money making variations. Don’t order the truffle. It’s 60 francs and isn’t that good6. Paid 50-70 more francs than expected due to confusing menu and waitress explanation. Overall would not recommend to anyone. Go to the outdoor restaurant downstairs- better prices, menu, and views.
MoreHighly recommend this place! Great spot to experience authentic Swiss fondue cuisine! Our waitress Ha was an absolute angel! She got us drunk and made us laugh a bunch!
Morecant recommend this restaurant and our lovely server, Ha, enough. great food, fair prices and by far the best service weve had in all of Europe. you wont be disappointed coming here
MoreLovely food and service, and for what you pay you get a lot compared to other restaurants weve tried in the area.
MoreFondue was absolutely delicious! The prices are a bit crazy but the meal and the experience was great. Our waitress was also super friendly and helpful, made the evening more enjoyable
MoreCheese Fondue Specialist. Just eat here if you are 1st timer.Service was super helpful in recommendations as this was our 1st time trying this in Lucerne. Great view over the river too.
MoreIt was such an amazing night!Their cheese fondue is literally amazing! You actually feel like closing your eyes and eating each bite. The chocolate foundry is also very nice. And the cherry on the top is the service- the waitress are very nice and their make sure that your whole experience is pleasant.Would definitely recommend for ones trying foundry for the first time!
MoreFood and service were excellent. We stopped with an American high school group and they all thoroughly enjoyed the fondue dinner. Very happy we stopped.
MoreWe were in Lucerne last week and eating fondue in Switzerland was on my bucket list. I had a couple of suggestions given to me and I mentioned them to the woman checking us into the hotel. She said she preferred Fondue House. I am so glad we went with her recommendation. This place was fantastic! Its located on the water and we were seated on the balcony overlooking the river. It was perfect to have the view but not the crowds of people walking by watching you eat.The waitress was fantastic, had a great sense of humor and helped my husband select some local beer to try. We opted to do cheese, main and dessert fondue. We had planned to order for 2 but she said unless you are really starving that the serving for one would be more than plenty. Really glad we listened, the portion for one was more than the both of us could eat!Everything was fresh and delicious. We were told the owner is very picky about quality and even goes to meet the farmer where he gets his cheese from to makes sure it is good enough. And it was! WAY better than any I have had here in the U.S. We had a lovely evening enjoying the great food and a lovely conversation with a lady and her son at the table next to us. If we are in Lucerne in the future this will be on our must do list. I cant say enough good things, its a must try location.
MoreMy first fondue experience in Lucerne and it was amazing! So glad this was my first choice! The prices were very reasonable, the quantity was massive, and the customer service was excellent! Maria, our server was outstanding! So warm and welcoming! The view was breathtaking and the fondue was delicious! I tried the Moitié-Moitié fondue which is a half Gruyere & half Michaël Tell Alp cheese with garlic 👌🏼❤️Highly recommend this place!
MoreSimply the best ever place to eat Fondue..A charming place.. Specially at night.. With a very respectful crew. The main reason if Ill come back to Luzern.. Above all it magnificent beauties.
MoreGood fondue, great service. A tad overpriced, but probably as its along the tourist stretch. Portions are pretty big, should be safe to order conservatively.
MoreAmazing place to try this delicious Swiss dish call “Fundue” they have a very long menu from traditional to new flavors. The service was amazing very friendly many of the staff can speak English, Portuguese and other languages. ( please save space for the chocolate Fondue.
MoreGreat fondue spot in Old Town on the river above the promenade. Excellent service. We went with the combo.
MoreOur hostess Maria and server Altu helped make this unique Swiss dining experience a memorable occasion. Our table provided a view of the beautiful Lake Lucerne; evening fell upon the city as we sampled cheese, beef, chicken and vegetable fondues with a starter of salad and bread assortment with a complement of fine wine. A chocolate fondue accompanied by a selection of fresh fruit completed our meal - wisely a portion for one which we couldn’t even finish as the portions were so generous. An excellent sampling of Swiss cuisine.
MoreWe ordered the Swiss Meat fondue for 2. It was good but definitely not worth the price. It said $59.50 for a 2 person meal, but then the ticket came back with 2x $59.50 and our drinks. It should not say $59.50 for a 2 person meal when it’s $59.50 PER PERSON. You put the TOTAL PRICE on the menu and not PER PERSON. This was extremely confusing and I knew Switzerland was expensive but this meal wasn’t even worth close to the price we were charged. Bad advertising in my opinion. The waitress was wonderful but the pricing was terrible.
MoreTonight, we had fondue for one and beef & chicken in a hot oil pot. The food was fabulous. Both the meat & chicken were tender enough to cut with a knife. Small potatoes were on the side along with excellent dipping sauces. Our server, Ha, was phenomenal.I highly recommend this establishment.
MoreFantastic all around fondue: chocolate, cheese, and meat. I was actually surprised that this wasnt a tourist trap based on the name and location, but honestly it was our best fondue experience in Switzerland. The main thing to note is that all sizes are far too large. We ordered a half portion and were stuffed. Our neighbors ordered a half portion and wished they had ordered a one-third portion!
MoreThe cheese was incredible. The meat was incredible. The veggies were very good. Sauce selection for dipping was outta this world! Big wine menu and other liquors. I cant say enough good things about this establishment. The ONLY thing Im not a fan of is the sheer VOLUME of food portions they give you. Theres literally so so much food that it took everything for me and my friend to stuff ourselves until we were ready to burst, or else theyd have to throw away so much. My only suggestion to this establishment is to lessen the portions so that people can fully finish a meal. Will be coming back again and again though
MoreThe staff were amazing, funny as well as attentive. The food was outstanding overall. At the end, it was hard to pick a favorite out of it all.
MoreGreat service and food. Very easy to make a reservation. The waitresses were extremely nice and helpful (they also speak very good English). They immersed us into a great night out. There are a variety of good options and the servers will help you pick. The atmosphere is also very indulging and festive - great for special occasions or casual events. If I could give a 7/5, I would!
MoreGreat food in a beautiful location (inside and outside). All staff were also very friendly, and they made us feel very at home. We had the Moitié Moitié fondue for the three of us, and we were left very full and very satisfied. We would definitely visit again.
MoreThis place is absolutely great! Definitely will go again and I recommend it 100%. The food is yummingly amazing and the service is A+... and I mean everyone in the restaurant is awesome! Its a place perfect for families even if you have picky eaters, they will go above and beyond to please them. Loved it!!+
MoreService was so friendly, attentive, and spoke excellent English (for my fellow Americans 😅)! The server Maria and her staff were helpful and really took time to make recommendations and give tips even if it wasn’t the most expensive option. We did the 3-course meal (cheese with potatoes veggies and bread, meat, dessert with chocolate and fresh fruit). One person serving size was enough for my mom and I to split with food left over. Food was solid and would go back in a heartbeat! Pics are the view.
MoreKatia, the manager, impressed us so much that we went back for a second meal. It was a mixed cheese, oil and chocolate fondue that Katia recommended. And what a great choice it was. Abundance of meat and veg and cheese with great personal service made this trip to Luzerne perfect.Must must visit the restaurant. Thanks Katia.Below is the first review:-A great waitress made the experience even better. As usual, food was got and terribly expensive. But not complaining. Highly recommended.9
MoreFood was absolutely delicious and the staff was friendly!! Just an amazing experience and the house sangria amazing!! They also make a house dressing for the salad that was delicious!! Highly recommend this place 😋
MoreThe restaurant is quite quaint. The wooden interior looks out over the river and the church just opposite. The food itself was very nice. The cheese fondue with spiced potatoes was delicious, and so was the meat. The chocolate fondue was also very tasty. The portions were very large, so we ordered a single portion to be shared between two of us (which incurred an extra CHF 6.50 charge). Even this was far too much for us, and we couldnt finish it.The staff are very helpful and nice. They constantly asked us if wed like more of anything, or refills of the chocolate.(Also note that tap water isnt free here unless you order another drink).
