FAROS Cafe Restaurant in Chania

Faros is a solid 2 1/2 stars. Going into it we thought it was a bit of a tourist trap, and it was. We stopped for two lite bites and the appetizers were double the price compared to a few other places a block away. The food was okay, I wouldn’t go out of my way to come back. Service was bleh.

Perfect view and good food

We had a gyros and some seafood. They were tasteless. At least we got free raki and ice cream.

The worst place where to eat, 40€ For 2 persons is too much: the place is horrible, I do not recommend, the staff were unhelpful and rude.I left empty.

Food was not very good, bread was dry and it took very long to arrive.

Lovely place on harbour.. First thought it to be expensive but they do large on everything they sell

Pretty place to stop for a drink. I don’t recommend the food. We ordered hummus and Cretan bread. Hummus tasted a bit like peanut butter and pita was hard. The Cretan bread was soft. The salads looked really good, we should have ordered that. Service was really good. They also have wifi.

Obviously benefits from prime position but it is rubbish, a real shame but it will be found out because of the number of great restaurants

The souvlaki was so dry I didnt know it was even possible to over cook it that much.

The best fish soup. Fresh sea food, very well cooked and the staff is very friendly and welcoming. I have been in Chania for 2 months and visited the best places, recommend this restaurant to people who love sea food.

We saw the reviews when we already sat down. Thought it could not be that bad. Bu the worst gyros ever eaten in Greece! The meat was very dry and it looked like it was old.Dry bread, dry eggplant dish. Truly just bad. You are going to regret your decision if you go here.

This restaurant is a big tourist scam. Took extra money from us as some kind of charges and then asked us for tips. And the waiter were not even doing their job.. They were very rude as soon as you get inside and order you food.

Food was not special at all. Charged us 25 euros for bread. They last too long bringing the food, waiters are totally unfriendly. Total tourist scam. Also in the end the took extra tip from me without me knowing, I told them and they just said sorry. DONT EAT THERE!

The restaurant manager is taking items from a poor ambulant seller as a bribe to let him walk trough the terrace... How low can you be. Saw this from a terrace on the oposite side, bacause either way the restaurant had bad enough reviews..

The food was terrible, overcooked and tasteless. The waitter was very rude. If you want to have a bad time and be overpriced for it this is your place.

They give you bread and butter before your food, without asking. Then they charge you for that bread (2 euros). $9 skrewdriver cocktail. Overcooked and burnt meat. Bad service. Total tourist trap.

If you want to eat 4 slices of garlic bread with 20 euros, come to this restaurant. You even pay double for the bread. They did not even ask us if we want bread and at the end we paid for 2 garlic bread orders. The receipt was in greek and we could not understand it. They even had the guts to ask for tips. Tourist trap, avoid this restaurant at all costs. Worst food experience of my life. They dont even deserve 1 star.

I have been visiting area for over thirty years each location has it plus and minus this place has good calamari and other great items on the menu most of them try and pull in foot traffic to eat at there restaurant.

Amazing little gem: Our family of 17 were treated like royalty..he was a fantastic host..we are a family that enjoy our food and Faros didnt let us down..the seafood was the highlight..it was cooked with respect and to perfection..if you are looking for good food at affordable prices..then this is the place to visit..thank you Faros..we will treasure our memory with you

Industrial food. Lot of insistance from the guys at the entry to seat but industrial food and service of poor quality. Worst food experience in Chania.

Overpriced and overcooked! Dont eat here not because the food is bad, but because they are sneaky and they will charge you for the air you breathe. The host is very aggressive and he is pulling people in, from the street. We ordered draft beer, a glass of beer, but they gave us 1L and charge us 20e for 2 beers we didnt order. You will pay 2euros for the utensils, salt, and table cloth. Insane! They treat all customers like they are one time only customers and this is what they get. Food was ok, nothing to recommend. Level of rudeness when it comes to billing is beyond any reason. They say to you if the food was bad you will not pay, the thing is the food wasnt that bad but everything else was. I will never in my life enter a restaurant with this kind of aggressive host. Never!

Dont deserve not even 1 star! The food was old, not fresh, they charge you for bread even if your not asking for it! The personal, omg, it s so rude, not the Italian boy, was a very massive man, a mountain of rudeness, him was close to hit us when we was saying that the food wasnt fresh, he was taking everything personally, omg, was so rude.. avoid that place. Horrible. I cant believe that you can serve in that way and you can pay a man to treat your customers like that man is treating the customers...if you dont fire him, youll lose maybe every European customer...awful

Pizza was excellent, but prices are quite high. However, compared to other restaurant in Chania are prices average. Waiters are fast and professional. Sitting is both inside and outside near the sea. Personally would recommend.

Decent food Nd great holispatality, but the prices were outrageous and the bill at the end was quite the surprise. Food way play, but not great, and certainly not worth the price.

Good people and good food, but they didn’t get a single order right. We questioned them about the food they brought us, as it didn’t look right and they insisted it was. They corrected the bill at least, but still disappointing. There are better places on the waterfront.

Rip-off. Really expensive and below average food. Charged 5Eurosfor a drink that should have been included in childs meal. Only takes cash- wonder why! Shouldnt even get the one star. Go somewhere else.

TOURISTS SCAM. I ate here with my family. They charged us 15 euros for each garlic bread order. We had 3 orders. There was only 2 slices in each order. The menu lists garlic bread for 2.5 euros. The server was very persistent on us ordering this mediocre garlic bread that we truly didnt want. They also instructed us to steal the neighbors wifi. The nice business owner next door confirmed that they do this often. It made me very upset to be scammed on my vacation.

Service was lousy. We asked for fresh fish of the day received old. Waiter confirmed owner lied. Even tried to put extra on ticket we did not order. If you are here. Lots of better places.

Worst place in Greece. Twice served instant coffee and pretended it was brewed! Serve very slow. We still wait for juice (over 30 min already).
