A real treasure. High quality in food, wine and beer. You would never thought to find a place like this in such a small village at the end of the road. We had dinner for two nights in a row.

I’ve eaten all over Iceland and this was the best meal I’ve had. Exceptional location, food, and staff. Can’t recommend them enough. I got the three course menu the lamb was the best I’ve had in Iceland.

Great Icelandic restaurant. The food is cooked with love and the quality is great. We recommend the 3 course menu, where you can have an starter like the soup of the day, then the main course like the lamb of the day or fish of the day, and finally a tasty dessert. The staff is also kind and happy to help.

Perfect Experience! Great dishes and wonderful hospitality. We had local specialities as starter, a mix of fish and meat cooked in different ways. Then we ate foal, that was delicious, and lamb, super tasty! On our trip to Iceland we stayed at the hotel near to this gem of a restaurant, where me and my wife ate one of the best catfish in our lives :highly recommended!

This was one of our favorite stops while in Iceland. The seafood platter was excellent. The owner was very friendly and talked to us quite a bit about his restaurant and the area. A very quiet, small place that was in a beautiful location. Highly recommend.

What a unique restaurant! The view is unparalleled and there is a nearby playground for children. The food was great. It was my first time having fermented Greenland shark and horse. This was a serene experience.

My wife and I stopped by here while passing through the area and were thoroughly impressed! The setting is beautiful and quaint, we loved it as soon as we spotted it coming down the road. The menu is very limited, but as is usually the case, a limited menu means everything is delicious - and it was! We had the seafood platter and the fish of the day and both enjoyed it so much! Would definitely recommend to anyone in the area!

We had many good meals in Iceland but this was our favorite. Delicious.

The food was ridiculously good and the views are breathtaking. We had the pan-fried char and the sweet potato apricot mash was so good it was ordered for dessert as well.They change the menu all the time, so it may be different by the time you read this. But I have a strong sense you won’t be disappointed!

We found a very charming and cozy atmosphere in this restaurant.And the food is amazing !We chose the menu with starter, main course and dessert, and we absolutely dont regret it. Everything was perfect.One of the unforgettable food experiences we had in Iceland.

EDIT: I went back later that day for dinner and the card was still very limited but thats no problem, fresh fish is always a good idea. I went for the vegan plate of the day, it was a very tasty beetroot cake.This place is perfect if you want a fresh fish on your plate! The menu is really limited (fish of the day, soup of the day, a burger or a vegan option). I had the fish of the day and a mudslide cocktail. It was tasty and the waiter who served me was incredibly friendly.

The food tastes great and is prepared with a lot of love. The location is very nice and you feel welcome. Anyone who loves good home-made food should eat at the Eyri. I can absolutely recommend it.

We found this gem during our stay in Hjalteyri and it was one of the best meals on our trip so far! We enjoyed the soup of the day - kale and smoked lamb - fish of the day with some fresh veggies, and topped it off with rhubarb pie. Everything we had was delicious! The atmosphere, decor, and playlist were great vibes along with the owner who spent time talking with us about iceland and gave us great tips.

We had an amazing lunch, the sweet potatoe soup and the fish of the day were stunning. Kids had fiqh stew and they loved it too.Thanks

Great restaurant. We came in for a late dinner and ordered the lamb soup, sweet potato soup, lamb of the day and fish of the day.The food was delicious, especially the lamb which was made in precision and I believe is a must try.We also had several interesting conversations with the owner, which improved our experience even more.

Excellent food! First we ate local specialities, like cold smoke salmon was especially taste, smoked lamb meat taste great and all other starters made us happy.We selected main food horse fillee and lamp meat. They has made excellent. Maybe other peace of lamp I would cook little bit more.Desserts taste marvelous, I ordered rhubarb pie and my wife selected chocolate cake. Thank You so much😃!

We stopped in here for an early lunch one morning and we both had the catch of the day. It was absolutely lovely. It’s nestled down a hill on the harbor of a small village. The window tables provide a great view of the harbor with a cute cozy interior. Definitely worth a stop if you like fresh fish. They also have a beer selection that’s unique from other places we stopped. Thank you to the friendly staff who fed us early!

Delicious, very tender and well prepared lamb filet. That harmonized well with a beer from the Faroer Islands. The menue might be limted, but the quality of the good was convincing.

MUST VISIT. Nothing, and I mean nothing, will top this experience from our trip to Iceland. The restaurant is intimate and in a beautiful location on the water. We met the head chef Nik who was so generous with his time and equally as generous with the passion poured into the meal. The quality of the tasting menu, the artistry, the creativity of the items on the menu was a luxurious experience we could expect in a super high end restaurant in a large city. We cannot thank him enough. This truly made our trip. Don’t miss out.

It was so good we ate there twice!! On our way to the beer spa we were starving. We stopped as it was about 15 minutes away from the spa. The food was delicious and the chef only cooks what’s available, local and fresh. We decided it was so good we would eat there again for dinner. For the carnivores if you are feeling adventurous I highly recommend the horse filet, magical. The chef and host were welcoming and just a please to meet.

Hidden gem 20 minute drive from Akureyri . Well worth the trip though! Beautiful views, simple , delicious dishes. I had the fish of the day and my husband tried the horse streak. Everything was cooked perfectly and was tasty.

Wonderful waitstaff. Beautiful location. Fantastic chocolate cake. What more can you ask for? It’s worth visiting Hjalteyri just for this place alone.

Highly recommend to eat here. We had the Icelandic starters, lamb as main course and the cake for dessert. Everything is local and just amazing and tasty. Super suprising was the smoked lamb as starter, so intensive and delicious. Also the main dish was on point and the vegetables so tasty and flavorfull. Service is excellent, very friendly and with an eye for details. We would very much enjoy to come back on our next Iceland tour.

Excellent restaurant 20 minutes away from Akureyri in a tiny fishing village. Small but ambitious menu with very good execution using fresh local products. I had their 3 course offer which was reasonably priced and was plenty of food. I chose cod gills as starter, an Icelandic delicacy that you seldom see around. The main was foal tenderloin, absolutely delicious, and again, rarely seen outside of Iceland. Finished it off with a rhubarb tart, that grows all around. Service was friendly and efficient. Only suggestion would be to have a more extensive wine list, bit probably difficult to keep a wide selection at this scale. Best overall dinner I had in a 10 day trip around the north and east

What a gem of a restaurant right by the ocean. Amazing seafood and the owner was awesome in getting us a seat as it tends to be very busy. The seafood soup was incredible with different fresh catches of the day available as well. We were also made some delicious drinks with Icelandic gin - a must try! Would have loved to eat here again!

Yum! Awesome fresh fish with bulgur wheat and a roasted pumpkin quarter. Restaurant is very nice and clean and got filled up with people while we’re there (always a good sign)

It was delicious!!! And the service was amazing, very kind and nice waiter with perfect beer recommendations! Had sweet potato soup, fish of the day and duck confit, all really tasty. Cheesecake was also very good. Wish we could have stayed for the live music at night!

A small cafe/restaurant but the food was delicious, we had the cod and the trout both of which were beautifully cooked and the portions were spot on too. Very friendly service that are happy to help you with anything youd like to know, the rhubarb pie was lovely too. Again I bet the views on a clear day are great but unfortunately it was a rainy day when we called so you couldnt see much. As its a smaller restaurant Id call and book ahead if we were to come this way again to make sure you dont miss out as we managed to get the last table the evening that we called in.

Very cosy place with great views, great staff, fish soup was best ever. Cod and trout were very fresh and can highly recommend.them. Didnt have space for desserts but these looked amazing too.

Quaint restaurant along the water body. They just opened on 2 Jun 2019, having taken over from the previous owners. The food is fresh and the taste is great! We had the catch of the day and the fish soup. They also served us homemade bread and it was lovely!

We stopped by before our whale watching trip and were really nicely surprised by tasty food and nice ambient. Worth to stop by. If you are not hungry they offer some homemade cakes as well. All this with a great view!
