An 11-minute walk from Lougheed Town Centre Station, this low-key hotel and conference centre is 7 km from Simon Fraser University and 21 km from Vancouver.Cozy, traditional rooms include cable TV and free Wi-Fi. Upgraded rooms add balconies and/or Jacuzzi tubs. Suites have pull-out sofas and kitchenettes. There's an informal restaurant, and a piano lounge featuring a vaulted glass ceiling and regular live music. Other amenities include an outdoor pool, tennis courts, a steam room and a fitness centre, plus 9 meeting rooms.
Wonderful front desk staff. Also, I believe his name was Bernie(?), treated us with great kindness. However, breakfast experience was not pleasant. Staff was abrupt, and rude to my wife. Server seemed attentive to everyone else but completely ignored us. Came to us initially for coffee during the whole breakfast while the table next to us got 4 visits and couple conversations. Bumps into our stroller pretty good, no apology or acknowledgement of the incident. Asked for decaf coffee and staff grunts that she had to brew a new pot. I talked to the staff about their service and they give an insincere forced apology consisting of "I didnt mean it". To top it off, the younger staff stares at me for a good 30 seconds as I check out loll.No fault of the front desk staff but will not be returning. Never had such an unwelcoming experience at a hotel restautant before.
This hotel is very clean, rooms are well appointed, and in room food menu is excellent! In the morning I discovered my battery was dead, and they arranged for Darcy ( beer and wine store managerto come with her vehicle and jumper cables, to get me going! Amazing help from everyone!
Best hotel experience! My wife were here ten years ago. We recently returned. We loved the staff then and now. Front desk, Security, Isham @ the Bar remembering our drinks, restaurant staff/chefs and Housekeeping are all friendly and knowledgeable. They cared everytime and were patient (we asked stuff even though it was written clearly in front of us. Our Bad.).
Booked the queen suite, style looked quite outdated - would not consider this place luxurious. Hallways were poorly lit. AC is a bit loud. When we first moved in, there were still belongings from previous guests in the bathroom. Our bathtub had slow drainage, not the best feeling to be showering in ankle-deep dirty water - we brought this issue up to the front desk on our second day and asked if we could switch rooms. They claimed the hotel was "fully booked" and said that an individual would go up to our room to check it out instead. However, we are not sure if this person has been up as we did not see any improvements in the drainage. Upon checking out, we brought this issue up again, and they gave us a credit for it.Housekeeping was ok. On our second night, we received only two towels instead of three and on the third night, they forgot our floor mat for the bathroom - I dont understand why there is difficulty in giving the correct number and type of towels.Had the morning buffet at the Wild Fig restaurant that is located in the hotel. Server was jumpy - not sure if it was because they were the only one on the floor at the time we came in. They took a long time setting up our table as they were trying to work on other tables too. Food is mediocre (your typical sausage, scrambled eggs, toast, pastries offeringsbut for CAD$14, I guess thats fair. Coffee is quite bitter.
The shower drainage in our room was not really good. The water would take 1 to 2 minutes to completely drain. Was showering in a pond of water. Advised the morning receptionist the following day regarding the concern and requested to switch to a new room. The receptionist declined the request, stating that the hotel rooms are completely booked. She said that she would have a technician or plumber to get into our room later that day to fix the issue. However, the results are still the same. Also, previously used shampoo have been left out for us when we first moved in the room.
Decent hotel for the money. Every little thing costs extra including parking.Upgraded to a Empire penthouse room for a few nights. Very similar to the superior king room just with little more space and a better balcony. Not really worth the extra money. Good location to get around.Overall if you can get the rooms for a good price then its a good stay
Stayed here for work I was doing near by.I was working nights shift and the hotel room was nice and quiet for me to sleep during the day.My room did not have a microwave but I ask a cleaning staff for a kettle and the brought one up for me to use.I orders takeout from the restaurant in the lobby and did not enjoy the food much. I might have to site down and eat the food in-house next time.
Checking in was a nightmare. Apparently they put a hold on your CC for the FULL amount of the room plus incidentals and it is "against policy" to actually pay for the hotel room upon check in. Like what? Never heard of this before. I wanted to pay via debit and only put the hold for incidentals on my card and literally had to argue with them for about 20 minutes (until they finally got a manager to come out). I asked then if I was going to be made to leave the hotel I had booked months ago for my wedding as I did not want a hold that large being placed on my credit card. They eventually made an "exception" to their "policy" but I have stayed in hotels world wide and never have I been told I can not pay via debit up front nor ever had to put a $650+ hold on my credit card for a hotel room. The room was supposed to be the penthouse empire suite (best in the hoteland, according to the website, had a jacuzzi tub. The tub was not a jacuzzi and when I enquired I was told I may be looking at the site for their other hotel in Burnaby, but no I was not. I was looking at the correct site, it even had restaurant details for the Wild Fig which is right in the Coquitlam location and I booked the hotel FROM the site. The room was run down, dirt/mold or whatever it was on ceiling above tub and in bathroom, paint ripped off and chipped walls, bed headboard missing square tiles, fridge was wobbly, glasses were dirty. I booked this special hotel room (so I thoughtfor the night before and night of my wedding and it was not anything as I expected it to be for apparently their "new renovated updated penthouse suites". Plus the hot tub was broken and no one bothered to tell me until I went to the pool and there was a sign. I will never stay there again nor recommend this hotel to anyone.
The BBQ buffet at the Wild Fig restaurant is not worth the price. You get French fries, wild rice, cooked vegetables, sausage, burger patties, barbecue ribs, mussels, assorted salads, bread garlic toast, and assorted cakes for dessert. If you want a buffet dinner, go elsewhere.
Had my wedding at the Executive Plaza. Linda, Penny and the team were absolutely the best! Our day was made special and we couldnt be happier. The penthouse suite was amazing with two balconies and a spacious room. Thank you! Highly recommend to anyone planning their big day.
My wife and I celebrated our 8 yr anniversary. We booked a penthouse suite (1101an incredible viewpoint for a sunset. We had dinner at the Wild Fig, an Executive dining experience.Decided on the lamb shank, absolutely amazing taste, as good or better than what my wife had had on her cruises. The entire staff at the Executive are absolutely amazing people. When we entered our room, the maid had made a swan shape heart on the bed.Something we only experienced on our travels to the Caribbean. We would highly recommend the Executive to anyone looking to stay at a beautiful hotel.Unfortunately we didn’t get a chance to use the outdoor pool or hot tub.We will be looking to stay again.Mike/Gwen
For how much $$$ you spend per night, you can definitely find better. My sheets smelled like they were washed with a diaper full of pee. The elevator smelled like an old cigarette. I forgot my shampoo and conditioner, expected to have something decent here - nope, “conditioning” shampoo, a dried out makeup towelette and bar of soap. No pen or paper to write with either.Bed is comfy though.
The hotel was nice but when we were outside loading our stuff the guy (staff of the hoteltaking out our stuff on the carrier like wth. We appreciate the help but you shouldn’t touch people’s personal belongings. I hope the management should teach their staff some respect. Not because we are leaving you will treat us like we didn’t pay our stay.
I stayed at this hotel for a conference. My room was decent and the bed was comfy. It just wasn’t fabulous. Its just not much in terms of executive type hotel. The rooms was a little dated and worn but the food throughout the conference was great.
Rooms not as advertised. Not very clean. Phoned for guest services and room service and staff were unhelpful and rude. Pool is not exactly a roof top pool it the roof of the first floor. Also not well maintained or very clean. We ordered food from a local place and it was just left in the lobby. We ordered dessert from room service, cost almost $30 for 2 and it was disgusting. We gave a $5 tip, when we got our final bill the tip had been changed to almost $10. The only good thing Id say was the bed was comfy. We probably will not come back.
