High Rd, Ilford IG1 1RS, Gorom-Gorom
Glass-roofed, 3-level complex of over 90 shops, including department stores, plus fast food options.
Only one escalator was working and no lifts, the public toilets in the car park were the only ones operating. Its not normally this awful.
Been living here long time, they have transformed this place, brilliant for family lots to do and many restaurants locally
Exchange Seems a Good Random Shopping Centre ✌😁, Way BETR n Less Crowded then Westfield ! Enjoy 😉👌
Its a nice little mall with reasonable parking space. Good for kids
An old classic mall that has all the shops that youd need. Lots of little halal foodstalls are placed across the mall for young and old to enjoy. Very clean and ample parking available at all times.
Feel sorry for the high street shops in there - H&M, Wilko, New Look, Claires. Not sure how much longer they will stay open as the calibre of stores are going downhill!
Not bad
A decent array of shops and stalls plenty of parking a kids space and quite zone with baby changing stations and dark rooms for sleeping babies.
A quaint place thats bigger than it appears from the outside. It has a gathering of well known shops as well as independent shops. Its bright and welcoming. Theres a central play area for kids and that in itself is an attraction. Disabled access is good via lifts and wide entrances. There are toilets, family room, and eateries all in this one place to make shopping an enjoyable experience.
Quite good mall with number of shops for fashion and other things
Place kept very clean and not always that busy...dont expect to find your run of the mill shops its not that kind of place make sure tou check before.. parking is excellent
A medium sized mall with varying products outlets. Lift accessibility was not so easy. Open areas in front is enjoyable.
I parked my car and when returned near 21.30 entrace was closed. It took me a long time to get to get my car. Payment is easy for parking. There are many shops including Asian shops.
Better parking can do with a wash or up to date cladding. Every other building has had one in ilford it just brings down the place now as a dumpLike what the old stratford mall does to StratfordUpdate the Building a jet wash or a paint…
some attempt at improvement over the years but it still falls short of the mark. not necessarily a bad thing, but most of the shops are now independently owned with most of the major brands disappearing. theres still a decent range, but not how it used to be in the 90s. theres loads of empty units as well which doesnt look great. seems like most of the customer base has gone to nearby centres like lakeside and westfield. hopefully it will get better now that crossrail has arrived into the area.
Nice play area for the kids to keep entertained!! Definitely toddler friendly
Its ok here. I remember it back in the day and was quite trendy. A bit long in tooth now and probably ripe for re-development . Some of best names have disappeared. Entrance is low key with Wilcos and derelict Bodgers hopefully will rise again given opposite Ilford station
I am truthfully informed that the Exchange Ilford is now a mere shell of its former existence. The majority of large stores are no longer there.
Its nice here. I live close and I always come as it has what I want. Its only missing a matalan
Decent place for shopping but parking charges can get a little high
A decent range of shops, however, lots of large stores have closed down and the vibrancy has been lost. There is lots of parking at reasonable charge.
Its not Westfield but its alright. Parking is reasonable, lack of shops but the ones that are there have great service..
Lots of good shops. Many of them clothes shops.Enjoyed looking in WHS and Wilkos. Also has Burger king and toilets.
Had the opportunity to visit after a meeting nearby, a few different high Street shops dotted along, the exchange is larger than what it appears from the outside. If you want some lunch or to do some shopping nice place to visit. Its also clean !!
Great place to shop. You can spend hours and hours to buy varieties of products. Their food court is nice as well.
I dont often come to Ilford mall but decided to visit today. It wasnt very busy, they have a training toilet for toddlers which is great as Im currently toilet training my son, it was clean and spacious. I found everything I wanted to buy but my husband didnt so will probably buy online.
Shops are not what they used to be, food court is gone..After covid it was a dead ace with barely anything open, its good to see units taken back up but dont expect a lot of normal high street shops. More small independent ones. Its ok better that there are some shops than closed units but not what it was in its glory days
Good location, almost all family shopping can de done. Ample parking space and close to high street.
Its a lovely place with lots of parkingWould be great if had few good food court
Great baby and toddler facilities. They are on ground floor mext to the car park.As a first time mum I cannot praise the management enough. Most big shopping centres lack proper facilities to spend a day out with a baby. This is one of the best Ive seen. Better than bluewater and lakeside.3 feeding rooms, 1 with a highchair. All have a rocking chair, side table and sockets to charge phones. Its quiet, no speakers playing music so no distractions for little one when feeding.Plenty of baby changing stations, each with its own hand wash basin.Small baby play area and larger toddler one.Only downside is no phone signal or internet. So cant entertain myself while baby sleeps (mine only sleeps in quiet spaces).Shop variety is decent with the high road and exchange combined.Parking is cheap, around 50p per hour.30 or so parent parking spaces well sign posted on the ground floor.
Basic mall get your bits and pieces more stuff outside on the high road its decent however even though I normally come on foot Ive noticed that there is actually a car park which is ridiculously placed on Thorold Road.
A good Small Town center for emergency shopping. U will get almost all main stores in here also a Good place for kids to play.
Nice clean shopping mall, not loads of shops but has what u need. Not much food choice but there is a burger king and a subway.
When this opened, it looked incredible. Ilford had never seen anything like this. All that floorspace occupied by some of the UK’s best known retailers workings alongside smaller independent stores was a stroke of genius. It is still in pretty good condition cosmetically and feels like an essential community resource.Over the years going to a mall for retail therapy seems a little pointless, and in the years since The Exchange opened, mega malls have opened in and around London. There are two major Westfield shopping centres within London, and both Bluewater and Lakeside are not very hard to get to either.I have to give credit to the Exchange to keep trying my to attract new customers. The last time I visited they had a train the went around that same floor and passengers could board and enjoy a ride. Not only was that great use of the space, it helped me keep the kids occupied. While I don’t go to brick and mortar stores much these days, I think the Exchange’s small size makes it much easier to navigate and I still don’t mind visiting it occasionally.
Im surprised that this place gets good reviews..Shops: dead - dont recognize the names only a handful of well-known retailers left.. Next, M&S, Jewelery, H&M and fragrances..2 small mobile shops.Layout: deadHigh st: Dead, apart from sportswear and Primark..Wheres all the investment going to, not the Mall.
Decent mall, not too many options but all normal brands are available. Parking is available as well.
Still the same after 20 years. Love it. We have an avon recruiting event inside the mall.
Rating low due to new car park system, dont get me wrong Im all for change and moving on thenokdbsystem was very slow and annoying but considering the new machines have been in only a few weeks Im surprised how bad and slow the touch screens are, trying to out an email in to get a receipt is an arduous process as the touch screen is just slow. Shocking in this day and age that it a not a bit more responsive, makes it feel like the centre has taken the cheap provider here!
Very nice shopping centre with a variaty of shops inside and around it. Decent parking rates and ample space. They should have more parent bays! Only have a limited amount
It is a fun place to go out as a family, be it for shopping, food, or just hanging out with the kids. Each one has something to do. My kid loves the play area and enjoys her time there
Very good value meal, with as much as you can eat for a set price.Only downside was it was not very hot by 1.00 when we arrived for lunch. Maybe earlier would be better, but then it would be very busy.
It was great. Was fast paced and the children playing down belowreminded me to relax once in a while. Just love this place
Kids loved the train ride (£3 a person, under 2s go free). And the Jamaican restaurant on the 2nd floor do lovely healthy meals.
Love the Exchange mall. Normally go there for my bits and pieces. Starting from the body shop, M&S, perfume shop and finishing off with a nice bite at the subway 😋. It Used to have Debenhams but now closed
Most escalators were shut and people were cramming into the two creaky old elevators. It was chaos. This was on a Saturday afternoon during prime shopping time. The people who owns and run this place are a disgrace.
good ambient; good food but little crowded specially the clothing shops. Careful about going up with the lift on the right side when you enter, you might end up to a gym from where you can’t go out other than going down with the same lift you came with.
I do love this shopping centre! There are many prestigious shops, as well as "Poundland", 2 cafe "Costa", post office, big few floors occupying payed car park, new big "Vision Express", etc. Different floors can be easily reached by escalators and lifts. Children are given special attention - several playgrounds, train, cars and even special toilets! Yes, the toilets there are really special - they are big, comfortable and decorated by the paintings of animals that used to live in Ilford! Come, shop and have fun!
First time in Ilfords exchange. I live in WG, from where 123 departs and Ilford is the final destination. It takes nearly 2hrs when theres traffic. It took me 1 and half hrs to get there.By the time I arrived it started to drizzle.I mainly went there to buy an open Abaya from Matins Market Place. It was only yesterday theyd have the type of Abaya I was planning to buy in ages.It was priced £27 + £4.50 P&P on their facebook page. To save few quids I went all the way there with a 17months old baby. I was expecting to buy it for £27 but was let down by the salesman. Extremely disappointed with the price that has been put up (£30). When I pointed out the FB pages price he was going on about how much it costs them and other things. Aint nobody got time for all this. Problem with Asian people they lack honesty. Promise you one thing, end up doing the opposite. He agreed to give me for £28 just because Im aware of the price.TBH, I now regret buying it. First of all the size is wrong. I bought M which is normally 54". Medium in 54" fits me in length and width. With this one length seems like its 56" and width seems like its Small. Compared to my Golden one I bought seven months ago from a different seller and different shop, this one doesnt come close in design and quality.Apart from all this disappointment, the shopping mall looks so beautiful. It has so many stores. Didnt have enought time to tour the mall. Next time, iA.
Variety of shops and plenty of parking. Food court, cinema is few minutes walk away and all high street banks / building societies. 24hr Sainsburys opposite exchange. Good variety of Restaurants (Turkish, Asian, Continental etc.)Plenty of hotels at affordable prices. Exchange is just opposite ilford train station. Free kids play area at ground floor.
This mall has seen some major improvements in the last few months now that it is under new management. Increased seating areas for shoppers, bright lighting, improved signage, refurbished toilets and a free play area for the little ones. Plenty of shops to walk around in and just enough to have a quick bite.
