Everglades Outpost - Wildlife rescue service in Country Walk, United States
Planned to visit during my birthday trip to south Florida in august 2022 and it was the highlight of my bday!!! The main thing I came here for was the underwater gator tour with Chris and Casper. Seeing an alligator underwater like that was amazing and exhilarating! 10/10 experience definitely a once in a lifetime thing (I would love to go back though). The photo package is SOOO worth it too and I love every photo that Chris took. He is definitely a true professional and very knowledgeable about the Florida alligators. I would recommend this experience to anyone who loves alligators and wants to learn about them while getting an up close encounter. I would love to come back one day. thank you also to the volunteers who take the time to care for the animals at the rescue as well. You are all appreciated!
Everglades outpost very entertaining and interesting. But the best part the truck food park in the front ceviche & ali Peru 🇵🇪. Fast, fresh, soon goood!!! Oh dont forget kola Peru very good soda!!
Everglades Outpost is a 501c3 not for profit facility that assists injured indigenous animals and also houses exotic animals which cannot be released. Please come visit!🦓🐒🐺🐪🐐🐻🦜
Beautiful land and sky, all the birds your bird watching self can handle; beware, pack atleast %40 deet mosquito repellent.
I volunteered as a teen here one summer and at 38 can say it was still the best summer of my life. The outpost is definitely a LIFE changer for both humans and wildlife alike. Dont get me started on how an amazing person Bob is eigther. Im glad the outpost is still around!
Chris had infinite patience with us and was eager to dispel any myths we may have believed about gators. Overall this experience was the best ever!
Most wives ask for normal things for their birthday, but after seeing Chris’s youtube videos my wife came in excitedly exclaiming she wanted to swim with an alligator for her birthday. I looked at the pictures and online information and said “ok”. I thought it would be an okay experience but was skeptical on if it would be worth the cost. I chose not go in with Casper and just signed my wife up, but after seeing it I wished I would have. Chris is knowledgeable, approachable, and handles any questions or concerns with ease and professionalism. The experience itself is nothing short of incredible. Don’t think like I did and say “I live in Florida I swim with an alligator every time I’m in the water”. This is totally different. My wife left beaming, star struck, and wanting to do it again. If you are on the fence at all just do it.
Great place! We came here for the underwatch gator tour, and it was amazing. Chris is super knowledgeable, and we had a great time. A lot more exotic animals and a lot more alligators than I expected!
Super fun place! The staff is super friendly and knowledgeable and truly care about the animals and about making visitors feel super welcome. My family and I didn’t go a tour but it was still an awesome place to check out. We got to hold baby alligators and baby crocodiles and got to catch a show. Will definitely return and will check out the tour next time. Would recommend over the Miami Zoo 1000%.
Definitely worth a stop for a couple hours. They are a sanctuary so they dont have a ton of animals but we spent about 2 1/2 hours here. I only wish there were more signs explaining how some of the animals ended up there. It would have been nice to know their stories.
Came here for the Casper undwrwater experience and oh man it was one of my favorite things about my Miami trip, Chris was super knowledgeable and after the gator thing I checked out all the animals. You could tell they take care of the animals here for sure , Id go back if Im in town
So much better than I thought it would be! We did the behind the scenes tour, worth every penny and the money truly goes to care for these animals. Very up close and personal experience. 2 volunteer guides which were knowledgeable and easy to be with. Definitely go!
This place was great! The animals seem happy and taken care of. The alligator guy was awesome! Funny and brave. Would go there again!
Everglades Outpost is a friendly down home family-run wildlife sanctuary in Homestead, conveniently located on your way to the Keys or the Everglades. For maximum enjoyment I recommend the tour but its also fun to wander around the see the animals in their custom habitats. If you time it right there may be a show which is always amazing.
The animals looked sad and it smelled really bad. There was flies all over the animal cages.. I actually felt really bad for them. I went based on other reviews but Im not sure if it was probably since its Sunday? I think its a great cause to help endangered animals but they need to keep up with their cleanliness
Incredible time hanging with the gators with Chris!Great program and a 1 of 1 experience with gators. Some may only experience that 1 in a lifetime while I look forward to going back. There is plenty to do here although I wasnt able to do much else as this was one of the last things I was able to do on my trip.I do highly highly recommend booking if your able to and WANT to do the tour book online if it allows. I did choose to wait it out and the option wasnt available, so I did call and leave a message with no response to the call, I was able to get ahold of Chris and he reached out and got me in on the tour. So if u want to definetly do this book as soon as u can I almost lost out.Thank you again Chris for coming in the clutch 🙏
This was an awesome place to visit! The Gator show was great as well! I will pick this place over the Zoo anytime! Plus, your admission fees go to helping the animals there!
Great place literally going back because the staff was amazing. You guys really look like you love your jobs. I love how passionate you guys are. I can’t wait to save up and do the VIP EXPERIENCE.
Its a small but big in heart sanctuary! It is all voluntary based and you can see their hard work. (Shout out to the Boy Scouts)! We fed the alligators and the tortoises. We will definitely come back. And highly recommend taking the kiddos.
The experience was great and had a lot of fun. The only thing that we didnt like was that some of the cars ran out of gas in the middle of the tour and we would have to wait for someone with gas to show up. That was time that we lost and didnt really got back.
We celebrated by nephews 8th birthday here, he loves all types of animals. Loved the show and all the rescued animals. Great experience for the whole family.
An interesting place to visit, the staff are hard working and passionate about helping mistreated animals. They do very well with the resources they have and the animals seem to be in good care.We did an alligator swim with the guide Chris. He was incredible and got us in the water and up close to the animals. His experience and knowledge enabled this experience to be exhilarating while very safe. Safety was his main concern and we were briefed thorough on the entire encounter. This place is a worth while visit to just check out the animals and gators, or to do a more intimate activity with one of their guides.
It was ehhhhhhhh nothing special! At least my entrance money went towards them animals I HOPE!
Had a lovely Sunday here! They have a pretty awesome alligator show and very friendly staff. I recommend purchasing a bucket of food to feed the gators. The little ones will be entertained by it.
First Time Here, Small Place But Beautiful ❤️, but whats Make It Beautiful isnt the Physical Conditions But the Reason That this Place Exist as Providing Refuge to this Injured/Old animals🐊🦓🐒🐯🐫🦢🦍🦜. I really wish that more.., a lot more people will come to visit as Their entrance fee help this facility keep providing Care for this Animals.
If you guys want more of a personal experience, then this is the place! The animals are closer to you. Not only that, but the staff members are really nice and very informative. They even had 2 alligator shows. They spoke to us about the animals’ stories on how they arrived at the outpost. We highly recommend this place and will definitely be coming back soon.
My son wanted to visit this venue for the longest. Its where one his favorite reptile youtuber houses some of his reptiles. This is the place he chose to visit for his 10 birthday. We also purchased the "Behind the Scenes" and it did not disappoint. The facility is run on donations and it is not fancy by any means, it is rugged, but the personnel there are amazing! I have to mention Quinton and Rachel went above and beyond to make sure our son had a day to remember. They are both beautiful ppl. Quinton went as far as calling Chandler (youtuberon video chat so my son could talk with him. It was the highlight of my sons birthday. If youre ever in S FL (Homestead), give this place a visit. Again, its survives on donations, so put aside the aesthetics and enjoy the interaction with such a great, dedicated humble team who work here for the love of animals and reptiles alike. Leave them a tip at the end of your visit, these kids are volunteers, not paid, and deserve recognition. We will be back!
Excellent place! Fun and educational! A++Loved it!!
Its a great little animal rescue to visit. The staff is super friendly, and knowledgeable. We went with 5 kids ages 11 to 2 and they all had fun feeding the alligators and learning about animals. Great to go instead of zoos because your money goes to caring for theses rescued animals!
Great outdoor experience. We love all the rescued animals in this place. The team and trainers of crocodiles are amazing. You have to visit Everglades Outpost and support this lovely zoo.
I had a really nice experience!!! I saw this place advertised on Groupon. Very underrated. Its a family-owned-and-operated animal rescue. I really respect what they do and their work with the animals. If I can give this place 10 stars then I would! There were many interesting animals. When I first entered the park I passed a parrot that said hello to me. I got to see many alligators, camels, zebras, tortoises, leapords, lions etc. The highlight of my entire trip to Florida was that I got to hold a baby alligator. I would definitely return!!!
Went during the week with some friends. Its a really amazing place seeing all the animals they care for. Most of the animals have a back story to how they got them. Would recommend anyone giving them a visit, and will more than likely go again myself.
Do yourself a favor and stop. Ive been to loads of gator parks and this place its great. Loads of unique animals that are well cared for. The wildlife shows are very educational. I did an under water alligator experience with Chris Gillette and it was so much fun. Bob has a great staff and everyone does a fantastic job. Highly recommend
Beautiful Animals! Panthers, Tigers, Bears, Zebras, Squirrels, Birds, Wolves, Snakes, Turtles, Alligators, Crocodiles, Camels...Etcetera! Etcetera! Amazing...
Always an amazing time here. Cheap, quiet and really good animals!
We love the place, my family love animals, I wish will can see more animals next time.
Well worth your time ! The alligator show was fantastic!
A must see if you love animals of Florida. The Outpost is rustic but perfect. We inquired about Casper the gator that enjoys swims with humans. The staff not only kind but also very informative 9n every animal that was rescued. The Outpost runs on donations and volunteers which is highly commendable.
This rescue is run by volunteers who love animals and supported by donations. It is not fancy or high tech but the animals are well cared for. The volunteers stopped and talked to us about what they were doing. I would recommend you stop by and see for yourself.
Its small, but a nice place to visit with kids. The alligator show is pretty cool; the trainer is knowledgeable and willing to answer all questions. You can also feed the gators.
I LOVED IT. Small but very cool and the owner is the BEST. My kids and I had a great time checking out this amazing place. These people love these animals and we get to help when we pay to go in.
Fell in love with this place and their eager and informative staff. There’s a Bear, Zebra, White Tiger, Camel, Florida Panthers, Wolves, TONS of alligators and crocodiles and soooo much more. We all learned so much and had a lot of fun doing it. A true must see for and all (especially the kids). We were truly impressed with how clean the entire facility was and how little they charge for admission was (no need to even Groupon). We will definitely be back and soon!
Swim with Casper with #chrisgillette great experience. Great fund raiser for this non profit taking care of neglected wildlife
The Everglades Outpost hosts a swim with an Alligator activity. Swimming with Casper was the experience of a lifetime. The event is a controlled swim with you, Casper the alligator and Chris Gillette, Casper’s handler. This is a must do.
We had a blast here !! It is a self guided visit but a lot of info and history !! You can pay and get a actual tour ! It is a non profit and they just do it out of love for the animals !! They do try and rehabilitate and release the animals back to the wild but some they can’t they take on and keep caring for them by donations. You should check this out if you are in the area !! My kids had a blast and my husband thought it was so cool to see the tiger that close up !!!
I enjoyed my experience here, it is small and I got through everything in about 2 hours. Don’t expect a full zoo, but it is a great spot
Its nice to know that the abandoned animals are being taken care of. There is also a small museum that has big foot info.
Great alligator show. The tigers and wolves are supreme!! Please support local effort to rescue these beautiful animals
This place is on the small side, and can be walked through in about an hour with kids. With that said, they pack an awesome experience into this space! There is a wide variety of animals, from parrots to crocodiles, camels, brown bears and parrots. My 1 year old son loved how close he could get to view some of the animals! The staff were all incredibly nice and knowledgeable. I would love to see this place get more foot traffic, as it really is a hidden gem to take the family.
This place is amazing. The up close and personal experience with the animals is amazing and its self guided. So you can take as much time as you desire getting to know and see these wonderful creatures personally.
