This bar & eatery with courtyard seating serves seasonal, locally sourced Cajun & Creole dishes.
Great atmosphere for a date night out. My grilled fish with potatoes and steamed broccoli was excellent! We paired our dinners with a fabulous malbec. The desserts were delicious. The staff was helpful and attentive. This was a tasty choice for our weekend in NOLA.
The pan pardue is unflavored, wet and doughy. Adding powered sugar helps not waste your money on the dish. The crab cakes are tasty. The crawfish and grits are tangy and missing something (seasoning). The bottomless mimosas are warm and not plentiful. The staff is doable yet not the most pleasant or helpful throughout the experience.
Absolutely excellent food. Perfect portion size and affordable when compared to most other places in the Quarter. Very laid back and enjoyable environment. Service was perfect, very kind staff. Crawfish and grits were amazing. Would recommend if you are near by. Will not be disappointed!
Love this place. The food is delicious, the staff is awesome, the atmosphere is great. I love the crawfish and grits and the fried okra but really you can’t go wrong because it’s all delicious.
The food was phenomenal and the staff were upbeat. We ordered the chargrilled oysters and definitely recommend trying those when in season. The crawfish etouffe was creamy and had a lot of depth to the flavors. The crab cakes were probably my favorite as they werent over battered and had generous amounts of actual crab in it.If nothing else, we would definitely come back just to order the bread pudding beignets! SO GOOD!Really glad we stumbled across this restaurant. Highly recommend!
Had lots of gluten free options and a really nice mint julep!
We enjoyed an absolutely delicious brunch here after walking around since our initial brunch location was a bust. I recommend making a reservation just in case.
Evangeline’s was soo good! Came for dinner as part of a bachelorette party. Service was great, food awesome, even included a free necklace and shots for the whole group. Our server, Juliette was fantastic! So sweet and down to earth. 5 stars all around!
Amazing authentic creole food and really nice staff, especially Remy.We had jambalaya and alligator, both were delicious.
This was the first spot I hit when I landed in New Orleans and I was disappointed with their jambalaya and gator bites, it tasted bland but the Evangeline pasta was a hit and the drinks were good.
Delightful dinner with New Orleans FlavorOn my last night for business in New Orleans and walked past Evangelines. What good luck!I sat at the bar, next to the skeleton which was super fun to get pictures with. The bartender was super friendly and attentive. I ordered a Pimms Cup, which was a treat as I never find this cocktail on menus.I ordered 2 appetizers: Crab Cakes and Fried Pickles and Crawfish. The Fried pickles were delicious, the batter was light and the remoulade sauce really made the dish special. The Crab Cakes were flavorful and more of the delicious remoulade sauce was drizzled over the top.As a single woman looking for a safe and comfortable place to eat, this small restaurant was perfect. Arrive early (6:00ish), I did not have reservations but was able to sit down immediately, when I left an hour later, the restaurant was full.
I went here for brunch recently and unfortunately the food was nothing to brag about. I ordered the hangover poboy and it had absolutely no flavor. It was a giant piece of egg with small chopped up pieces of sausage mixed in. I was real disappointed to say the least. My friend ordered the Cajun breakfast and let me tell you there was nothing Cajun about the flavor to be honest there was no flavor. The grits were extremely stiff and the “breakfast potatoes were just simply friend potato wedges. To be completely honest the food was not seasoned at all. The server however was extremely nice. His service was above and beyond my expectations. I don’t recommend the brunch but I’ll try out the dinner menu.
Evangeline pasta and Alligator creole were fantastic!! Waitstaff were fast and so kind. Clean bathrooms, delicious food, and a great quiet spot in a busy area. Such a wonderful experience all around!
The service was great. However, the food was subpar. We had the red beans and rice with smoke sausage. There was no sausage in the dish. The server had to bring us a side dish of sausage. The red beans and rice was dry with no seasoning. Very disappointing.
We got married in NOLA at JazzFest and had our wedding eve dinner for family here. The staff was very kind and accommodating. Everyone at the table loved their food and drink. We ate on the patio and it was a delightful evening of food, drink and love. Thanks to the staff of Evangeline.
Did a Google search on a place to have dinner and chose this lovely restaurant. Was able to make a reservation and they had our table ready for us, and the gave my kids a little treat. We had the fried gator, fried crawfish, alligator creole and so much more. Everything was amazing and I highly recommend going to this resturant. It is worth it and you wont regret it!
Fantastic! Great service - had the crab cakes and grilled redfish. Don’t forget your Sazerac cocktails!!
The fish was excellent, one of the best I have eaten recently 😋
Alligator bites were delicious (small portion though)Pasta is heavy garlicJambalaya is spicy.Pimm’s cup was refreshing after heat all day.Overall fun time eating and enjoying a bar-like atmosphere
This place would not look like much, but it was actually a cute hidden gem. Something I appreciated was the fact that it had a courtyard and that the service was very pleasant. They gave me an entire pot for coffee. Food was tasty but they definitely did not have a big selection. I like when places give more than my initial expectation.
Outstanding service. Megan was great. Gentleman at the door much fun.Fried Green Tomatoes - excellent - Crawfish Etoufee - good - Shrimp and grits - well, a hot mess - a scoop of over salted grits "drowned" in a heavly over spiced (head sweatingsoupy cheese sauce disaster with rubberized overcooked shrimp (a crime in NOLANot good at all but we were tired from traveling since 4 a.m. and not in a complaining mood. Beer was cold and cocktails tasty.Great courtyard atmosphere. Other things on the menu look interesting so would try again.
We had reservations and were seated quickly in the delightful courtyard/patio. We started with the fried crawfish and pickles. I had the redfish over pasta and although I may not be a big redfish fan. (my first time trying it)the dish was wonderful and I couldnt stop eating the wonderful pasta. My husband had the crayfish etoufee. The food was all very good, the space was so pleasant and our server was great as well. I will definitely return when we come back to New Orleans!
The crawfish and grits were fantastic. Beth was so kind and warm and really made my solo lunch experience phenomenal. She was so sweet and really went above and beyond. Highly recommend!
Unfortunately had a bad meal here despite many good reviews. The Pasta Evangeline shrimp were extremely overcooked and the dish was bland. The CO2 machine for the draft beers must be out of service as well as they were flat. The Shrimp and Grits were good but otherwise a flop. Perhaps it was the chefs night off. With all the amazing eateries in NOLA, id go elsewhere.
I want to start by saying Meg made our time here beyond exceptional. She was caring, fast, and knew the menu really well. Her service was excellent, truly some of the best. The food was also beyond reproach. The pesto redfish, crawfish pasta was creamy and flavorful. Their etoufee was also so delicious!Come here if you ever get the chance!
Excellent food and service! After visiting a few other local restaurants and being disappointed, we had low hopes. While there was no line (which also worried us), we were seated and provided service right away. Our party of 5 included 2 children, and they were treated so kindly. They were given unique beads to welcome them to N.O. We were there for brunch. We ordered fried shrimp for the kids which were spectacular, and so full of flavor! For the adults we had their Cajun Breakfast with sausage (a specialty sausage that’s made with pineapple to add just a hint of sweetness), Fried Chicken & Biscuits, and Pan Pardue. The first two were so perfectly full of flavor, and cooked just right. My favorite part was their sausage, and the egg over easy. The Pan Pardue was just the right sweetness! In addition to exceptional food, the service was very thoughtful and the price was extremely reasonable! We met the owner Rhonda and complimented her and the staff on our service and the exceptional food. This was one of those experiences where everything was done just right, and nothing was left behind. Do yourself a favor, skip the other spots and treat yourself with some truly delicious food from Evangeline’s!
We were on our honeymoon and Beth absolutely made our night!!! She was a total comedian and made wonderful suggestions. Fried Okra and Fried Alligator for appetizers. Acadia Crawfish and Grits for my beautiful wife. I had the Pasta Evangeline with Red Fish Blackened. Talk about wonderful!!! The white wine sauce made my whole meal. The Bread Pudding Beignet was the treat we were looking for tonight!!
I had a great time but my wifes entree was a miss. 5* for the service, 5* for the amazing crab cakes, the delicious fries pickles and craw fish tails, and 5* for my fettuccine with shrimp. Loved the Al Dente done right. Unfortunately, the Alligator Criole was a miss, was too hot, with not enough rice to dilute the spice and sauce, and the meat was too chewy. We didnt even plan to get this entree, but they had run out of the red snapper pesto pasta even though they had just opened and it was a weekend.
First time patronizing this nice duct-off spot did brunch with two of my best friends and we loved it. The staff were very friendly accommodating and just very refreshing! Its why I love New Orleans so much!!!🤗❤️🤗
Highly recommend. Friendly service, a beautiful courtyard out back, and a simple menu that covers many of the New Orleans staples. The cocktails are well-balanced, and my Pasta Evangeline was delicious. Every dessert comes a la mode, and the ice cream is so fresh and creamy that it tastes like it was made on-site each evening.
We did not have a reservation on a very busy night, but they made room for us. The staff were extremely friendly and kind. The Red Snapper fettuccine with cream sauce was amazing as was the crawfish etouffee. Wish we hadnt eaten as much becuase the desserts looked amazing! Elegant atmosphere. Great place for a date night.
The courtyard is nice! The rest was way under my expectations, even considering (or because ofthe highly touristic area: I didn’t like the food, the wine (by the glasswas low quality, and the service was unfortunately bad too. I cannot recommend this restaurant.
We had a great experience and the star of the show was the green fried tomato and crawfish etouffe. Outside seating was nice and the staff were polite and helpful.
We had a great experience at the bar. The service and atmosphere were top notch. The Bloody Mary was one of the best I have had in addition I would also recommend the Miss Mezcal which is sweet smokey and spicy.
I had just gotten into New Orleans for a work trip and was starving. Found this gem as I was walking around and am glad I stopped in. The service was excellent, no one was weird about the fact that I was coming in for a meal by myself, and they found me the perfect little table tucked in the back. The food came fast and was SO good. Will definitely be stopping back next time Im in the area.
Almost 5 years later and Evangeline’s is still fabulous! Bottomless Mimosas and Bloody Mary’s makes everyone happy, to include the birthday boy! They added so many special treats from beads to shots to celebrate his 21st! Thank you for making it special for him! Food is still great, our server was beyond awesome, and the host is quite spunky! Only flaw is no fault to the restaurant, but the GM/Owner? could relax the rbf and maybe not want me to walk the other way upon entry! I was so close…Fantastic service, food, & great place to just relax and enjoy the local atmosphere. Highly recommend!!!
Wonderful time! One of the best brunches I’ve ever had! The staff are just amazing & give the best service… we’ll definitely be back!
After our first brunch experience at Evangeline, were definitely adding it to our must-do list for every trip to New Orleans. We were pulled in by the bottomless mimosas and bloody Marys, and those were wonderful. The menu offers so many options, including many New Orleans favorites. All 4 of us ordered something different, and we all loved our entrees. All of the staff were extremely friendly and attentive. Nani was our server, and she is delightful. Alex and Beth also helped make sure our glasses were never empty. Were looking forward to trying dinner next time were in town. Highly recommend everyone check out this great place
Before and after plates of our meals. We ordered the crawfish etouffee and pasta Evangeline. The food was delicious as you can see from the clean plates. The etouffee didn’t come with enough rice so I ordered another side of rice with it. Mr. Alex was our waiter and he provided excellent customer service!
Please check this small gem out! We came in for a late dinner and the staff were so wonderful, the food was great and the atmosphere was charming. Our server helped with some drink recommendations (French 75 & Debutantwhich were very good. We got the alligator appetizer which came out fast and the remoulade sauce was the perfect compliment. The entrees were also very good. The Crawfish & Grits was very creamy and flavorful. The Étouffée was also really great. Both maybe needed a bit more rice/grits. The pasta was good but not as flavorful as the other dishes. The staff were wonderful! Friendly, helpful with great suggestions, and checked back regularly (but not too much either). All and all a great dinner spot.
Delicious Cajun food !! By far one of my favorite places, the music is good the service is ok, definitely recommend you check it out
My husband and his friends enjoyed their entrees of exceptional seafood options at the Evangeline. I joined them at the end, as I dont eat meat or seafood or much fried food, so didnt join for dinner. The venue was nice and more intimate due to its smaller size, so reservations guaranteed space for my husband and his friends. The place was very welcoming and servers friendly and let me join happily for a shared dessert of tasty, fancy bread pudding with caramel sauce at the end of their meal, because I was meeting them to head out for our evenings musical entertainment. Very pleasant, very accommodating, nice New Orleans experience!
This hands down was the best experience I’ve had since I landed in NOLA. Beth was PHENOMENAL and showed my wife and I a true NOLA experience. The food was amazing, and the bread pudding beignet is to die for!!!! Thank you Beth!!
Evangelines is wonderful. We orderes the alligator bites, which were fried perfectly with a hint of a white wine taste to them and they were just wonderful with the remoulade sauce that they provided. We also had the fried crawfish with fried pickles, and they tasted incredible. They were cooked perfectly, and you could taste the essence of the ocean in the crawfish. The pickles werent over battered, they were flavorful and made you desire more after every bite.I ordered the catch of the day which was grilled pompano over Cajun yellow rice, crawfish, and andouille sausage with a beurre blanc sauce and it was tremendous. The fish had a seasoning that almost spoke to being blackened, and it coupled with the beurre blanc and rice magically.Okay, look. Im drooling again just thinking about it. Bottom line, this place is what you thought it was. I am already looking forward to flying out from California to have it again. Also, everyone was SUPER nice, which was nice.
We loved this place so much we came back here three times during our trip to New Orleans! We had the pleasure of having Beth as our server and she was fantastic! Service was great and the food was phenomenal -- authentic flavors, good value, and pretty generous portions! During two our of three visits, Beth was kind enough to recommend three chefs specials (brown butter cake for dessert, the gator dish with tomatoes and rice entree -- brunch special, and the blackened fish fillet w/ linguine, mushrooms, and shrimp medley for main dinner course specialand we were glad to have taken her up on her recommendations 👍! You wont leave this place hungry and we will definitely be back next time we are in New Orleans! Thanks again for the wonderful hospitality and awesome food!
Food was amazing! Great service! We had a later res to celebrate a birthday, they had no issue with us bringing a cake from a local bakery. Ended up sharing the cake with the staff. What a great night!
OMG. The food was so good. I had the crawfish and grits. Our server, Nick, was so thoughtful and attentive. He made the meal even better. Thank you Nick.
We came to see Brett because he makes the best Long Island Ice Teas on the east side of the Mississippi. Disappointed that he’s a waiter, but that’s fine because everyone has to earn a living. We had some food (jambalaya and the étoufféeand it was all tasty! The first day, the drinks were the middle of the road, but doable. The gent shucking oysters was cool and had a lot of information and a nice background in cooking. We returned for bottomless mimosas and they were fresh, smooth and sparkling. Nice crowd being next to a fire station. Always some action.Overall, Evangeline is in rotation.
Good Restaurant close to the center of New Orleans. Came here one morning to eat brunch with my girlfriend. Staff is friendly, service is quick, and food is delicious. Good hole in a wall restaurant.
Mouthwatering goodness. We dined here on a Sunday the service, food & ambiance were EXCELLENT. I ordered the Jambalaya, a house drink and the Rum Pecan pie a la mode. The taste was everything i expected, very affordable. Be sure to sit in the courtyard if the weather permits!
