European Museum Schengen - Museum in Grevenmacher, Luxembourg
Interesting but it has some mistakes
This museum celebrates the Schengen accord in which adhering countries removed border controls when travelling between them, thus initiating the freedom of circulation period we now live inside de EU.You can see the hats of the border control authorities at the time, as well as the ancient passports of each adhering country. It’s a museum that talks about borders, reminding us how we’re better off without them
Definitely a place to stop by to learn a bit about modern European history
A small village in luxembourg overlooking Germany in the other side of the river. In the museum that you can enter for free you could see the history of one europe was made
Not really much to see unfortunately
Lovely coffee and apple cake. Service was friendly & very helpful thanks!
A small village on the mosel bank with a significant meaning to European history. Definitely worth a visit especially with school going kids there is a lot to learn about Europe.
Very interesting
This is a historical site about the Schengen Agreement of Europe.
Awesome outside spot to learn about the Schengenhistory. I love the artwork with the stars, representing each Schengen country.
Reminds me the Scorpions song " Winds of Change"
Really nice place showcasing the history of the EU. The museum is small but free. Of course, Germany and France are minutes away either way. There is usually a parking space available on the street also.
Nice place to stop by and learn a bit on how the Schengen Agreement was formed. A interesting 30 min free visit. Some of the screens weren’t functioning at the time of our visit, which made a slightly disappointing impression. Nice cafe next to it.
Nice to stand on the place where the Schengen treaty was signed. Very nice environment and free museum about the history of Schengen and EU.
Small but historically important and beautiful place!
Nice museum , small, only one room , but worthed for a short visit
Nice place, free entrance 👍
Not so gorgeous but important historic place.
This museum has the history of Schengen Visa and opening up of European borders. Its quite inspiring to understand the same
Nice place, there is a nice long river walk and beautiful river. There is a nice restaurent and parking and flags etc hosted therer
Nice place for an alternative half a day gateway.
The tripoint between France, Luxembourg and Germany is beautiful! If youre planning a trip to Luxembourg you should definitely visit this place (1.5 hrs from the city centeras it holds a lot of European history and heritage
The history encompassing this particular spot is mind blowing. The home of the Schengen Agreement, the location is beautiful, quite and rich in culture.
if terrible attention to detail doesnt bother you then it is a nice little meseum to visit if its on your wayWhat really annoyed me is the lack of the said accuracy, such as Kaliningrad region on maps being marked as part of the Schengen area and the UK still being shown on some maps as part of the EU.. Its not that hard to correct, come on..
I didn’t go inside the museum. The river side plants and flowers and the Schengen monuments outside fascinated me so much. There is a point that you stand on the border of three countries France, Germany and Luxembourg. Some parts were under construction and not accessible at the moment.
Nice little free museum with great Informational materials!
What a nice and interesting place in little Luxembourg. There‘s a lot of history inside this little town and it‘s just a cool story to tell your friends that you‘ve been to Schengen. Most of them won‘t even know that Schengen is a town. All the countries of the Schengen Agreement have a flag and you can pose with it, no problem. Also cool to know that the tripoint is right on the river!
Incredibly fantastic! I loved this place and its positive vibe. You truly feel this brilliant European atmosphere once you’re there, and all the European flags demonstrate the beautiful unity of the EU. Couldn’t have loved it more😇🌹highly recommend
It is a small museum with data about the EU. All is well presented and you can find a lot of info about the union. It is free, so definitely worth a quick visit is you are in Schengen!
Where else to start your Eurotour
Interesting place, very small. The visit is worth it if you do some other museum that is close by like the Biodiversity Museum which is really cool.
Very nice place to go, quick visit and enjoy cafes and wineries nearby.
A lot of place to walk to.border of 3 countries. Vinery and hiking paths.
Free and educational museum. Worth a stop for 30 minutes while you are in town.
Good short trip from Luxembourg city.
Nice little free museum documenting the signing of the Schengen Agreement and the opening of borders in Europe. There’s a café attached and just across the road are the flags of the Schengen countries which makes for a nice little photo shoot. The location next to the bridge to Germany is also very appropriate.
Interesting little place housing a significant historic treaty. Apart from reading the detailed history, you can also print your Visa in a booth there. The sculptures outside the museum are worth a look as well.
This is an interesting place to spend sometime. Europeans would perhaps relate more to this, than non-Europeans. Its more a display of how the whole concept of combined European region came into being, when what happened etc. Theres a small corner for kids to make their own (fakeSchengen visa! Theres a display of various passports, flags etc of each & every member countries.
A little piece of history can be learned of here in the free museum. Nice display of flags outside and a great place to just stop, hang out and have a coffee before you hit the wine route.
Great views to take pictures!
Lovely museum, with a lot of European and inspiring history
Interesting visit on the history of free movement in Europe. Dont forget to print your Schengen passport and to bring an engraved padlock to leave on the padlock metal "tree" outside the museum. The museum is free and there is a café outside. There is a buoy on the river Moselle showing where the 3 countries meet: France, Luxembourg and Germany.
Nice and quiet place. Point of 3 lands: France, Germany, Luxemburg. I heard about Schengen and Europe, but I didnt know it was a small village. We walked around. Museum about history of Europe, was closed that day.
Not much to see there honestly. Just the history of how free trade was established in the European Union. Its good If you are interested in history and/or politics. If you are coming from Remich its a good combination just for a short walk
Pretty small but illustrated the history behind Schengen Area/Accord.
Very interesting and easy accessible museum in the village of Schengen. It concerns only information about the agreement of the north European countries to stop controlling their borders. The village of Schengen very attractive with plenty of nature sites. Three stars because the museum provides incorrect and unrecognized information about the neighbors of Greece.
This museum is worth a visit. It is rather small but informative and one can learn all about the creation of the EU and the multiple milestones that have occurred in is history (Euro, enlargement,...)There is also a big gift shop near the Moselle river and there you can rent bicycles which is a great way to combine history and culture with tourism!
Small museum, great place to spend an hour to learn more about the Schengen zone.
Small museum. Free enterence. Ok cafeteria. Museum shows the Luxemburg pride in being instrumental in the European union.Figuring out which countrys star is which, was a nice family activity.
Dont miss this important place and the nice neighborhood!Let a professional guide to lead you to the history of this museum!
