Guided tours are offered at this 18th-century mosque with colorful frescoes in the city center.
Beautiful building, the only remaining Ottoman mosque in the city.
It is a peaceful place that has preserved its historical texture since the Ottoman Empire. It is a pity that there is no sitting area around, it needs landscaping.
Beautiful mosque in the heart of Tirana. 15 minutes are enough to check it out.
It is very crowded and not the best mosqur to visit but if ypu are here, do it. Being used with tourists are far less things to worry about it than in any other religious institutions.
Beautiful monument but the skyline is being botched by all scyscrapers that are not even finished. Its very well known and its definitely worth the visit, although to be fair, its almost impossible to miss it as it stands in the main square, the middle of the city.
Very beautiful. When you visit Tirana, you have to visit there.
So beautiful Place and so relax mosque Ethem bey
This is one of very few mosques in Albania to resist the communist regime without being demolished. It has an ottoman architecture but it is quite unique with its still life paintings, something rarely seen in Islamic architecture. Its a first-category monument of culture. It is also one of the most beloved mosques for muslims in Tirana, since it is located right in the city center, it is one of the oldest and it is a symbol of survival of faith.
The people can enter with their nude legs,Some people touch with their feet on the ground, they enter but it is against clean of a mosque...And eemam/mouazen accepting this negative action of them. They open there at tge time of salat of fajr then close the doors until salat al zohr.It is not like a mosque, like a museum or an official organization.
Must see in the centre of Tirana.
😍
Wasn’t allowed in - was told it was closed despite others after me being allowed in. Can’t imagine why.
Alhamdulillah! Excellnet mosque. Also offered Eid al Adha prayers at Skanderbeg square.
Big mosque around the square
Beautiful mosque.
Great experience, polite doorguard. Beautiful interior. Its seems all polite tourists are welcomed.
Great place!!You felt very peaceful there.
Gorgeous small church, obviously converted from a small chapel or church.
Its a nice small mosque with some paintings on the ceiling and walls which makes it unique.
I feels comfortable when pray here, its clean and peaceful
One of old mosques in Vlore , very ancient building
Gorgeous, quite distinctive mosque in the centre of Tirana. Like almost every other mosque in Albania, is one of the oldest mosques in Albania. Thats what iconoclasm gets you.

The mosque is magnificent. Unfortunately it seems not be possible to visit it without arranging in advance.
This mosque is beautiful inside out.
It’s so beautiful. Highly peaceful and it is currently open for prayers. And the call to prayer operates filling the whole square and surrounding area with the lovely call to prayer.

Excellent restoration! Beautiful Mosque
It is definitely a place to visit while in Tirana as it is one of the oldest buildings in the city which survived the prior regime destroying religious buildings all around the city and country. Unfortunately right now it is under reconstruction so you cant get in but hopefully itll be finnished soon.
A unique mosque situated in the very heart of Tirana. The mosque, the Clock Tower, National Museum and National Theatre of Opera and Ballet from the surrounds to the famous Skanderbeg Square. Et’hem Bey Mosque was founded at the end of 18th century by Mulla Bey, with the shrine finished by his son Haxhi Et’hem Bey in the first quarter of the following century. The mosque was one of the few to be spared the destruction during which churches, mosques, tekkes, monasteries and other religious institutions were either closed or pulled down, or converted into warehouses, gymnasiums or workshops by the end of 1967. On 18thJanuary, 1991, despite opposition from the communist authorities, 10,000 people entered carrying flags. This was at the onset of the fall of communism in Albania. The event was a milestone in the rebirth of religious freedom in the country. Visitors can see the wonderful architecture of the mosque and its exquisite decorations of wall and ceiling paintings from oriental traditions. The frescoes of the mosque depict trees, waterfalls and bridges, still life paintings that are a rarity in Islamic art.
This mosque, built by Ottoman Turks in the 1790s, contains lovely frescoes that look uniquely Albanian. Many of its panels consist of feathery representations of items like minaret tops, purses or pouches. Others depict buildings, some looking like small cities; some like resorts with blowing palm trees. Other frescoes show nature scenes: forests, cataracts and watercourses. I’ve never seen frescoes like these in other mosques. Entrance requires no headscarf, but does require covered shoulders and legs. Respect the ceremonies being conducted in this very busy mosque.
The oldest mosque in the city and the only one that survived the communist regime. As a visitor you can enter, see the interior and take pictures (I asked firstwithout any problems. You just have to take off your shoes and women have to cover their heads (a scarf is for rent for free).
Construction was started in 1791 or 1794 by Molla Bey and it was finished in 1819 or 1821 by his son Haxhi Ethem Bey, grand-grandson of Sulejman Pasha.[3]At the time it was built it was part of complex buildings that compose the historical center of Tirana. In front of mosque was the old Bazaar, in east the Sulejman Pasha Mosque, which was built on 1614 and destroyed during World War II, and in the north-west the Karapici mosque.[4]During the totalitarianism of the Socialist Peoples Republic of Albania, the mosque was closed. Tours of the mosque are given daily, though not during prayer service.[6] Visitors must take their shoes off before entering the inner room.
The Ethem Bey Mosque is an 18th-century mosque located in the center of Tirana. The Mosque most noted feature being its 35 meter tall spire which contains a spiral staircase to the top. The tower was for many decades the tallest building in Albania’s capital, and it is considered by many to be the most beautiful mosque in the country too. Closed under communist rule, the mosque reopened as a house of worship in 1991, without permission from the authorities.

This mosque is beautiful and very old mosque. This mosque was the only mosque that didnt get destroyed by the communism time. Closed under communist rule, the mosque reopened as a house of worship in 1991, without permission from the authorities. 10,000 people attended and the police did not interfere. You have to take your shoes off before entering the inner room :). The Mosque is composed by prayer hall, a portico that surrounds itnd north and the minaret. On the north side is the entrance to the prayer hall, which is a squared plan and is constructed in a unique volume. It is covered with dome and the dome is semi-spherical and has no windows. The frescoes of the mosque depict trees, waterfalls and bridges; still life paintings are a rarity in Islamic art.

It is a landmark. Attractive site of city. It is unique in its own kind. It is situated in 💓 of Tirana 🇦🇱. It is included as a landmark, very old, in turistic site. It is going under construction right now. It has a lot of interesting decorations. It is going to be like a hertage from the past
One of the epic places to be visited in Tirana. This mosque was built in 1793 by Molla Bey of Petrela. It is a cultural monument which has survived the dictatorial regime between 1945 to 1991 years. During this period Albania was the unique atheist state. Interior was painted by Venetian masters. Pleased to have this masterpiece in Albania.
The old and the most elegant mosque in
Oldest mosque in Tirana, survived the communist era. Still active for salah, Jamah etc. Has whudu facilities and also ladies prayer room.
Beautiful Mosque in the center of Tirana! Nice to visit on daytime, but in the evening it has nice lights.
This mosque is important for Albania because Tirana City has only one historical mosque. This Ethem Beut Mosque must see to by every visitors and turists.
Interesting, small, quiet space in this historic Mosque which is still in daily use. Pictures Ive seen in other places show that the building got quite a kicking in the war the adjacent clock tower losing its Venetian styled top, so not sure how much is a recreation. Still well worth a look.
