Hip restaurant with contemporary murals and bar stools, for filled dosa, tangy chaat and fish tikka.
Est. India in Dīg
Description
Privilege
This was recommended by our host and he didnt lie about the great dishes Est. India offers. We loved it.
MoreThis restaurant automatically reply to every feedback with something along the lines of “our other diners say we are actually very good as you can see from the feedback”. But as you can see from the negative feedback, there’s a reason this restaurant has such poor reviews as of late.Incredibly rude staff & very pressuring to customers when taking orders. Refused to pay service charge for the aggressive, uncomfortable experience & I shall never return here.
MoreService was really bad as the waiter told us to give a whole order in one go because he thought it was busy (which was notand that he might not take our order again!!!! We ordered paneer kadhai and there was no gravy just the big pieces of paneer which was hard to eat… there was a lot of staff running around and they all were confused with orders…
MoreLovely food & service, especially from our waiter Zakir! Will definitely be returning.
MoreAlways a great meal at Est India and great service. Have been many times before and will return many times again. Thank you Zakir for the service.
MoreThis is a terrible restaurant. Avoid it at all costs. The waiter is rude and had a bad behaviour with us .What a mistake! Almost anywhere else would have been better.
MoreThe worst service and restaurant ever.. open discrimination towards Indian .. the server as well the manager was super rude to us .. and he literally snatched the menu card form us stating order fast and made sure we each order min of 15 pounds worth of food . When we said we need time as few of our friends are also gonna join to have a big party . He was like please get out.. in the name of Indian restaurant these people don’t know to treat Indians ..they speak all well to people other than Indians. But to Indians it was open discriminating and levels of racism. He started asking like do you even have money to pay and refused to even serve us anything from the menu. Even the manger is the most rudest person I have ever come across
MoreReasonable experience but food not spicy or aromatic enough for my taste.
Amazing tasting food and a great atmosphere. Service was top notch - especially a shout out to Zakir who was great all evening. Highly recommend
MoreGreat menu, really great food and what stood out most was the service, especially Zakir who totally made mine and my husband’s evening. Special thanks to him - from the married couple arguing over films and the bill x
MoreClean , spacious , food was quite good , waiters behaviour needs to be tone down for a better eating experience
MoreThe food was fine on the name of India. As professionally speaking the basic taste of Indian food was missing. The staff also lack courtesy and doesnt know how to treat the customers. If you are going here for lunch, pls make sure you are in the hotel by 1:30 PM else you will be denied to dine.
MoreGo in with least expectations about food taste and you will like it. I went in with set of expectations though which werent met
MoreIts ok, food ok wasnt amazing. Got charged £5 for a small can of beer absolute rip off.
MoreI was with my father and two friends in London last week(Tuesday-13th). The restaurant had just opened and how we were treated compared to the one other British couple, it left me appalled. I couldn’t believe the Staff(although shared same ethnicityacted so strange, rude and racey or biased. The food was decent, but hospitality needs a ton load of work. We sat adjacent to the British couple so we could really see the difference on how we were treated and how they were. The staff told us we had to order in one go and they wouldn’t take the order from us twice, which was just obscene.I wouldn’t want to go there again.Pity that having to serve decent Indian cuisine the restaurant is getting such review.I’ve never had an experience as such, before.
MoreLoved their samosa chaat. The dosa was also decent. Excellent service.
Big up Est India, best curry house in the area. Big up Mohammed. Top G.
Incredible food, were definitely going back. Staff were great too but damn those lentils....
MoreSecond time visiting this restaurant with friends. The food was really good and great to share. Fab atmosphere and really friendly staff. Definitely recommend!
MoreJust fyi, They have a policy of ordering 15 pounds per person which made us leave the restaurant. We were 2 people with small appetite.
MoreVery nice atmosphere, friendly service, wonderful food!! Thanks Est India! We might not be eating anything for the next few days, since we’re still full!
MoreWe went there to dine in on a Sunday night, when none of the restaurants of our choice and close to us were open. Eat.India welcomed us at 8:40pm, were courteous, and the food ordered came out quickly. Delicious food, good portions, and prices just like any other Indian restaurants in the area. I appreciate them for the service.
MoreBiryani was sweet and Raita was sweet too, lamb kabab were chewy. Biryani shouldBe always bone in.
MoreWent to London on the weekend, fancied a curry and went back to Est India, for the first time since Christmas. I wasnt disappointed, food was great once again as was the price...Chicken Tikka Massalla is the best 👌...
MoreVery tasty, authentic indian Food & Drinks. The Staff ist absolutley gorgeous and charming and the place is very cozy!
MoreGood tasting food. Courteous staff. Slightly slow service. Would do again for sure.
MoreAmazing food, great service, authentic atmosphere. Friendly for vegetarians and vegans. Highly recommended!
MoreGreat Indian food, would definitely recommend the stir fried prawns, garlic naan and mango lassi. Other dishes we tried were pretty good too. Maybe not the samosa small plates tho, there were only 2 of them.
MoreVerry good food and service, especially liked the chicken tikka masala that was more spicy and flavour full than the other Indian restaurants we have tried here.
MoreAlways a wonderful welcome and great food in this place. Attentive staff who couldnt do more for you. Highly recommended!
MoreExcellent Indian food, friendly staff and better location than most of sister restraint around Borough
MoreProbably the best Indian food we have tasted. The tastes were so delicate and the variety between dishes was great. Staff were very attentive and friendly. This was a Saturday evening without reservation. Excellent.
MoreThe food was absolutely incredible. Everyone in our group enjoyed their meals thoroughly. I definitely would eat here again.
MoreFood was lovely, but there was raw chicken in our starter. When the bill came we said we didnt want to pay for the raw chicken but they insisted that we did. Lots of arguing later we ended up walking out still paying full price (including raw chickenplus £5 service charge and they still werent happy.
MoreAmazing food.Me and my friend went to this restaurant as we were in crave to have some Indian food. Husan was there to help us out what to order and which dish is their specialty and what to try. We loved all the dishes he recommended to us. We had Pav bhaji, kadia panned with roti and keema roti as well. Also had chats which was so amazing and delicious. Thank you so much for making our evening beautiful and with lovely dishes to try on. A huge thank you to Husan for all the recommendations and service.
MoreI would never ever recommend this place for indian cuisines. I have visited with my wife and we ordered all these listed items in invoice one of guy Mr. Khan took my order he was very rude and furious, I would suggest to restaurant owner please provide behavioral training to your staff else youll get complain like this in near future as well. I told him to please make Chilli paneer spicy but he denied my wish and put me agreed on that its already spicy we cant do anything and later he came to me and asked about hows the food I politily told him to my real time experience but he again started arguing to me and my wife as well. My whole food is experience is worst I have eaten almost good indian places in London but I wont forget my bad todays experience on this place. last but not least please avoid this strongly not recommended 🚫P.S. one of your waiter told us that the guy who was serving to us his name is Mr. Khan. I asked to the guy who was serving to us his name but he disrespectfully denied to tell his name.#Shame Fame #ReplyThanks !!
MoreOne of the best Indian restaurants my boyfriend and I have ever eaten at. The food was so flavoursome, the meat juicy and the naan was the perfect balance between crispy and doughy! I cannot stop thinking about the onion bhaji. The staff were really lovely to us also. Could not recommend enough, cant wait to go back!
MoreReally nice food , good fast friendly service and good pricing for London , would go again
MorePretty Indian but the service left a lot to be desired. Even though less than half-full we had to regularly badger the staff to get orders taken etc. and had to ask for water three times before we got any. The meat in one of our meat dishes had more than a hint of being off too.
MoreEst India: Left with a bad tasteI booked a table at Est India for 17:30 through First Table. The concept of First Table is ‘First Table is a restaurant discovery website offering 50% off the first table at breakfast, lunch or dinner at participating restaurants. It’s the perfect incentive for food lovers to try new and exciting restaurants while saving money by dining during off-peak times.’ This is a great idea.I first visited Est India over 10 years ago and enjoyed the experience. I now live within walking distance of the restaurant and was pleased to rediscover it through First Table. I decided to take my daughter there to celebrate her birthday. We’d had a lovely day out in London and this was going to be great way to round off the day.We arrived in plenty of time, as required by the First Table booking conditions and we enjoyed a reasonably tasty meal with lovely service from the waiter, even though he forgot to order one of the dishes & they arrived in the wrong order (a side dish ordered arrived as a starter and one starter dish just never came). This however was all fine. Then the time came to settle the bill which came to £50.66. Upon checking this I found that although we’d spent a total of £54.75 on food only £18.25 had been discounted. I queried this as 50% of our food bill should have meant a discount of £27.38. The manager claimed that in the conditions of booking the 50% only applied to the main courses, however this made no sense at all as there is no combination of plates which comes to £36.50. The manager asserted that I hadn’t read the booking conditions carefully and that in the small print it’s clear that the discount only applies to the main course. I said that I’d check and leave a review as requested as I’d agreed to do so on booking the table. I paid, without the application of the 50% discount and left.I have since checked and there are no ‘special conditions/small print’ as claimed. The First Table website appears to be very clear that the discounted rate applies to all food but not beverages. On Est India’s page within First Table there are no exceptions to this and there are no exceptions on the voucher which I paid for.So overall, I quite enjoyed the food but was left with a bad taste feeling conned by the ‘special offer’ which is clearly a deception devised to lure patrons in but not to deliver. This is especially sad as I had been looking forward to becoming a frequent visitor to Est India, now that I live within walking distance, but now I feel that’s is unlikely that I will ever set foot within this establishment again. I have never left a negative review of restaurant visits previously and am, I believe, usually generous in my appreciation. I feel sad that Est India has changed that trend. Would I recommend this experience? I can say, without any reservation, that I would not, unless you enjoy being disappointed.
MoreDelicious and well presented food. Amazing starters, naans were scrumptious, biryani was average but lovely staff and good ambiance
MoreTo start with, the member of staff who served our table was fantastic. He was patient and very helpful with selecting dishes and ensuring we didnt over order which is the case most times. He tended our table through the night to ensure we had our drinks topped up and resupplied us with poppadoms when we ran out 😊.The food was thoroughly enjoyable and we certainly will be revisiting this restaurant again. The location of this restaurant is a little off the beaten path but it was an absolute unexpeced find. We had started the evening in Borough market and gradually made our way down to flat iron square. On a recommendation we were advised to walk through the market area where on the other side we would find Est. India.
MoreI came here with my Mum and Dad for a dinner. We ordered the Chaat, and Paneer for starters. The paneer seemed undercooked and floppy. Not the best paneer I’ve had.We then ordered a dosa each. Sadly, these were a bit too much on floppy side also. A true dosa should be crispy. The sambar that’s meant to come with a dosa was also replaced with dahl.If you want an authentic dosa, Est. India isn’t the place for it...A positive about this particular experience was the nice waiter who chatted to us at the end (Ang). Very friendly and memorable.
MoreUpdate March 2019Had the Lamb again. I gotta say. It’s the best Indian lamb I have ever had - worldwide!Amazing food! Great spices and amazing flavor! I had the lamb and spinach and veggie samosas. The lamb melted in my mouth!
MoreLamb curry was pretty nice, not as chilli as I would have liked. Garlic naan bread and poppadoms were great. Also got a meat samosa which was mediocre.Overall, really nice. Word of warning, their meals are very filling so be cautious of ordering too many sides (i.e. samosa, garlic bread etc)
MoreGood portions. Menu is not the same as the website however so I had to settle for a standard thing.Good service but just a shame they didnt sort out their menus.
MoreOrdered chicken which smelled yuck and didn’t taste like chicken, called waiter to discuss this who started arguing. The worst dining experience ever.
MoreHonestly was expecting better food after reading the reviews, Ive had better (and cheaperIndian food in London. Nice food presentation, good service and ok atmosphere.
MoreThis restaurant is excellent. The decor is nice, the staff are friendly, and most importantly, the food is extremely good. I work in London Bridge, and I think this is the best Indian in the area.Having been on a few occasions, I can say that it is consistently good. If youre feeling adventurous, ask the manager to order for you, we did are were not disappointed.
MoreDecent indian eatery. Bit spendy.Returned again. Food was still at the same high quality, and the staff remain professional. The atmosphere is cozy, yet open. Lighting is lowered, and the mood is relaxed yet pleasant. Great spot for small groups [3-7], and the meals are filling. The flavours come off nicely- no stinting on prep.Good vibes here.
