Contemporary bar & grill with colorful decor serving Latin dishes plus craft beers on tap.
Resembles nothing like Colombia but the food does . Get the arepas.
The food was amazing! Colombian and Korean cuisine mixed. Very good music and chill vibes!
Pricey and nothing special. Ceviche was not a ceviche but I get its fusion. Id gladly never come here again. Not missing out. Service was OK. 4 drinks and a ceviche was $75
If you are in Los Angeles and around Korean Town, then you must visit Escala. This is a restaurant with a Colombian and Korean exotic cuisine and a fusion of both cultures. Make sure to check his new menu, it is ridiculous good.It has a very cool feel by mixing, hip hop, Latin, Asian and LA culture off course. You can find OG Chino in the wheels of steel playing your favourite joint and making you feel good vibes. The food was amazing! As you can see we tasted a lot of food and even got to meet my boy OG Chino. I highly recommend this place and this is a spot I always come to when I visit Los Angeles.#chicocares #escalaktown #foodisgreat #goodvibes #chicosreviews
Over priced for quality of food and portions. Bartender was not the nicest and it was a very slow night.
The food is really good and the bottomless mimosas set to background music by the DJ make brunch with the girls that much more fun
Being Colombian myself I was disappointed in the Colombian food but the vibes and drinks are great! Recommend the guava cocktail.
Great ambiance. Great food. Great service. It is my go to when in town now and the flavor never disappoints. Service is amazing. The bandeja paisa is a must, the fried wings are the best… crunchy AND tender inside. The beef empanadas are mouth watering. I could’ve passed on the sancocho.
If you’re looking for a fun atmosphere to grab a drink with a friend, Escala fits the bill. I will say, however, I was a bit disappointed with the food as my entree order didn’t come out exactly as advertised on the menu. Not a huge deal, but next time I would probably just stick to drinks and happy hour menu items for the price.
Nice experience of this fusion restaurant . Colombiaan en& Korean together. Great chicken, great Korean beers. Nice music . Def recommend this
The food is 🔥 and the vibe is nice! 90s hip hop vibe. Sunday brunch is amazing and it always packed.
Wow, the brunch vibe js so good. Get the breakfast fried rice. They have a DJ on weekends
Pretty good beef empanadas. I really liked the ceviche my friend ordered. It wasnt too sour which is what I prefer. The elotes were alright but I probably wouldnt go for it again. It felt pretty small for the price. The tropical smoothie was good.
Came here for drinks with coworkers on a Thursday evening. We were seated quickly and our large-ish group was accommodated easily as we arrived prior to "dinner rush". The drinks were tasty, the space was clean and inviting, and the service was adequate but nothing special. I would go back again.
The one and only reason I didn’t give five stars is because we wanted ox tail and they had none! Settled with this, but it was delicious! Drinks were great too! Can’t wait to go back!
The beef empanadas are fire. Staff is very friendly and the food came out fast. Would definitely return
A beautiful restaurant, friendly service & nice ambiance. Food was good, small portions.Ceviche 6.5, Arepa de Pollo 3.5, Yuca Fries w/ Shredded Beef 8.5
The atmosphere and drink selection was really cool. Staff was super friendly, would definitely like to go back. Only drawback was the portion sizes- some of the dishes had small portions for the price.
The atmosphere of this place is great. They have good music and really good food/cocktails. Staff were all super nice as well. The only downside is that the portions are smaller than you would expect. The prices arent absurd, but theyre a little high for the amount of food youre getting. Other than that, no complaints with everything else
Didnt try the food but the cocktails were really good! The waiters were not that sweet even though I spoke in Spanish to them. Weird.
The food was tasty but I ended up leaving before I ordered my entree because the service was so poor. The has just opened and was fairly empty. Will try again because they have some interesting items on their menu.
Awesome happy hour with 7$ old fashioned and delicious beef empanadas and yucca fries. Great ambiance. Cant wait to return.
If youre a Yuca lover like myself you got to try their loaded Yuca dish and dont forget the empanadas! 4 stars because our table was dirty.
Great place to not only chill and have drinks but their food is bomb 💣 as well 🤌They also have a DJ playing a mixture of old school and new music 🔥
Never had an issue. Till the last time u was there. Waiter gave me a water cup with cilantro on it . She was rude and not helpful. I got the crevice and it was under seasoned no flavor at all. The food wasnt flavorful like other days. The berry smoothie was so sweet. Very disappointing 😞
Fun place with dim lighting for ambience. Food and cocktails are delicious! Interesting food options of Colombian and Korean mix.
Great music and delicious drinks, but they didnt have anything vegan except the yucca fries. They didnt even have salads because it was brunch time. And the ladies in the next table were super drunk, falling down, and vomiting. I spent most of my time there hoping they wouldnt vomit on me!
This place was really busy when we arrived! Only table for 2 was outside on the front sidewalk which was fine for us. The cocktails were good, as was the food. We started with the beef empanadas, those were really good, then had the smoked octopus, which was excellent! We also ordered the pork arepa and that was ok, the pork was a little over cooked and dry, unfortunately. The dish I was most excited about was the ribs, but after 2 reminders (and close to 30 minuteswe were told that they were out of them. We were definitely disappointed. We ended up ordering a dessert and were given another one, complementary, which was nice. Overall, a good experience.
I honestly wanted to go across the street and get Koren BBQ but my buddy wanted to go here so 🤷🏾♂️ Well I gotta say I was not disappointed! This place has amazing food! You gotta try these wings they will blow your mind!! I wanted to get more empanadas but you know I’m doing that New Years Diet thing that everyone else is doing! If you are in this area and decide you don’t want Korean BBQ stop in to this place you won’t be disappointed!!
First time here because we wanted to try Colombian food. If all Colombian food tastes like this then I will come to Escala this more often. The people here are attentive and friendly. So good to have excellent service. My party had Happy Hour (which is dailyitems (see pics). This place has very cool ambiance and music is jumping! I highly recommend this place especially if you’re in the neighborhood.
Interesting dishes here. The Chilaquiles were good but would have been great had they not come out cold along with our other dishes.
Hands downs, one of the best restaurants in LA... Drinks were yummy! I had a shot of Jameson with a popeye chaser, then a Old Fashion. Food was AMAZING loaded yuka frita, beef empanadas, chicharon and Asian chicken wings...... AMAZING
The staff are extremely friendly and helpful. My husband got the ribs they were fantastic! I got the K-Town Rice con Pollo also fantastic. Great friendly atmosphere all around. Highly recommend this place. Will go back again whenever Im in LA 🔥❤️
It was hard to ‘keep calm and eat’ coz the music was so good, but the food held it’s own ;… the owner himself rocks it out as the DJ! Super fun ambience and absolutely delicious food.
I just wanna say... the cheeseballs.... had no noted cheese. I was disappointed lol. The egg was good but felt like alot of it was masked by a large portion of rice. The food looks pretty and you get hefty portions... but wasnt really my taste after trying it. I wish the fried rice tasted fried.
Went here on a Sunday for brunch. The passion fruit mimosa is so good! The food here was delicious! I had leftovers that tasted so good the next day too!
I had a feeling it wasn’t going to be good when I received the menu from a friend. The regular menu looks better than what they offered for brunch. We all ordered at the same time but some people food took a long time to come out. The server was new and didn’t know what the dessert was that she brought out for the birthday girl. The setup of the restaurant (insidewas different I like the outside better. The best part was the music, great vibes!
I like the fusion of Colombian and Korean here. I’ve eaten arepas but not this style an I liked it. One is pretty filling but 2 could be the best option for a starving lunch. I also had the Bandeja and was very tasty! Lots of space inside and great ventilation. Place has a nice rustic look. The park is in the back and you can now pay electronically with a QR at the entrance gate. Or $8 cash. Restrooms outside of the plaza just in case. Very nice dining plaza. Worth the visit!
Loved the atmosphere in the courtyard. Wish the inside was opened, looks very urban. We had the fried octopus 🐙 and the tray for 2. Dont remember the name. I fell in love with their carribean rice. It has a sweet taste to it with coconut milk and raisins.
Visited on 08/15/2020. They are open. They have tables in the parking lot. We ate the Plate “La Picada” for 6 people. A fusion food; Korean and Colombian. The chicharrones, arepas are delish. We also ordered empanadas (I forgot to take a picture). Good service. The servers are very polite. I’m giving them 4 stars because the restroom was dirty.
Theyre open! Go support everyone!!! I had the Pacific Seafood Soup + Empanadas + loads of drinks. They have good drinks
A gem in this area. This restaurant boasts a beautiful combination of innovative and tasty fusion of Korean-Colombian dishes together with a great and unique style and ambience. During our visit, the waitress was super attentive, had great suggestions and took great care of us (it was not busy at the time but still). We also got a complimentary dessert which made the experience all so special. The food was just amazing!
This place has perfect variety. I have never heard of a columbian korean fusion before but they compliment each other well. I was especially pleased to have a variety platter which can feed 4 easily
One my favorite bunch spots in the city, parking is not as bad Saturday morning and the live (djmusic is good. I specially love the seafood soul and the bottomless coffee (only $3).I suggest you make a reservation, but if you dont still try your luck and see if they have any available.
Amazing food and atmosphere! Cant recommend the chicken plate enough. I expected not to like the beans but to my surprise everything was delicious and went well together! I cleared my plate and was left wanting more. Price was also reasonabl. 10/10!
Though the ambiance was quite different than what the website portrayed, we enjoyed the food. The happy hour menu was perfect before going to a show at the Wiltern. The chicken wings, beef empanadas and ribs were very tasty! We will definitely be back in the future.
Colombian and Korean fusion food with a lively atmosphere and a DJ on the weekends. The food is tasty and the prices can be a little high, but its LA.Parking on the street can be an issue, but there is a valet for $5 if things get desperate or that is how you roll. One thing I would say is I think they can get a little more creative with the menu considering the theme of the restaurant.
Interesting fusions of Colombian and Korean but no standout dishes for me.My favorite thing was the k-town rice - super tasty but I think I liked it most because it wasn’t as fusion as the other dishes. Everything fusion wasn’t super imaginative.
Went here with my gal pal that is Korean-american and I am Colombia. So having this fusion cuisine was awesome. They have Colombian staples like empanadas and carimañolas with a Korean twist, portions are great and they also have Aguila. Great atmosphere.
The food was good but was way overpriced for the smaller than expected portions. To start, I got the LaMula to drink which is just a Moscow mule with passion fruit infused alcohol. It was pretty good but it was $12 for a small copper mug. My friend got something I forgot the name of but was pretty much a pina colada, also $12. For appetizers, we got the street corn and empanadas. Corn was ok but the portion was about one corn on the cob cut into 3 pieces. I forgot the price on this one. We got one of each of the 2 kinds of empanadas ($3 each). The beef and potato one was great but the kimchi fried rice one was bland. They were small too. What made it better was the sauces that came with it. There was a kimchi aioli and a spicy chimichurri. Bomb. However, the appetizers came after we got our entrees. Also, three different people came to take our orders, literally, which was confusing because we didnt know who our server was. Their communication could use some work as well because they didnt know that we had already ordered our drinks and/or entrees. Anyways, I got the Braised oxtail which came over coconut rice with plantains and a "tomato salad". I put that in quotes because it was pretty much grape tomatoes sliced in half with some pickled onions strewn randomly over the rice. There were only 2 oxtails (which were pretty small and got lost in the piles of plantains and veggiesand about a cup and a half of coconut rice (which tasted pretty much like jasmine rice cooked with coconut milk or water). The dish was tasty but nothing spectacular and not enough to get much of a reaction. It came with a small side of guacamole that alone was great but I wasnt quite sure why it was there. It didnt add to the dish and seemed more like an afterthought. This cost me $17. The ambience was nice with old school hip hop playing but half the walls were big open windows and you could hear all the traffic going by, since this place is on the corner of a busy intersection, with some startling honking in the middle of your meal. All in all, it was good and definitely creative to fuse Korean and Columbian cuisine but not worth the $77+ we spent for 2 people to dine.
