Port-Vila, Port Vila, Vanuatu, Port-Vila
Set on a secluded tropical island in the Pacific Ocean, this laid-back resort is 3 miles from Ekasup Cultural Village, 6 miles from the National Museum of Vanuatu and 9 miles from Lololima waterfalls.Simple rooms feature garden or sea views, plus minifridges, coffeemakers and ceiling fans; there's no air-conditioning. Villas add canopy beds and decks; some include loaner bikes, hot tubs and private beaches. A 4-bedroom beach house is also available.Free water sports lessons are available. A seafood restaurant offers a breakfast buffet, ocean views and live music. Other amenities consist of a beach, a juice bar/lounge and a 24-hour ferry.
Went for a day trip dinner, service massively slow, asked for mains to come 3 times, understand post covid (hence 2 stars and not 1but they shouldn’t keep accepting customers if they can’t keep up. Price not cheap - equivalent a la carte Australia, reasonable to expect asking 3 waiters to get the meal out please would be a subtle hint and avoid the need for this review.
This is such a great place. Its a little slice of heaven. The staff are some of the friendliest Ive ever met, the location is brilliant, the food is delicious, we had such a great week holiday and cant recommend it enough.
We came over for a day trip from Port Villa and we were incredibly impressed with what was on offer here! The staff were so friendly and watched our little girl and painted shells with her while we were close by! The food was fantastic and we were so lucky to enjoy what the ocean door step had to offer in the way of star fish etc. The pool was fantastic too! Thanks so much 😊
Magical place! Great day guest location for expats looking for a place to take their kids as there are a host of activities that the kids can enjoy. Will definitely be back here again.
We were there as day pass visitors and it was an amazing experience.Ive been there couple of times for dine in and never been dissappointed about their food.Always nice food. And also I should mention about the staff there.Everyone is so nice and helpful with a smile on their faces.Specially the F&B manager/the supervisor(sorry, cant remember his nameis very funny and friendly.Had a good swim in the pool and their nice beach.Washrooms were clean but I think there should be someone to clean it always. As it wad little dirty when I used it for the second time and my husband said that mens washroom was bit filthy.Overall it was an amazing experience at Erakor Resort.Highly recommend for day pass visitors
Erakor Island is lovely! The island itself is a little piece of paradise, but still close enough to the town if you wanted to pop in there to eat or explore, just a short (freeferry, then you can get the local bus for cheap. We booked for our last 2 nights in Vila after having explored other parts of the island. We were lucky enough to get an upgrade (because I think they were renovating the Garden Rooms- it was a very generous upgrade because we got a villa on the water with a spa, it was beautiful !! We did a lot of kayaking, SUPing and relaxing. Make sure you walk around the island, its small but the path all around is beautiful. Swimming is limited to high tide. I think they normally run activities too but we didnt see any because it was still quite quiet. The restaurant was good without being great. We seen quite a few resorts in Vila and I think this one is one of the best because you are on a small island away from the hustle and bustle, but close enough if you wanted to go in town.
Most lovely and friendly staff, already happy and willing to help.Would 1000% recommend. Family and kid friendly place.Definitely the place to be if visiting Vanuatu
Absolutely terrible experience. Do not come here. They literally forgot to put alcohol in our cocktails! We had to go back THREE times to get watered down Bacardi in our pina coladas.Further, we ordered a fish platter, and the ‘calamari’ tasted the same as the boxed fish I buy from Coles & put in the microwave. Actually no joke. Yet the bill came to over $150. It was so bad I’m actually gobsmacked.Don’t make the same mistake we did. Stay away at all costs. Diabolical. I’m considering calling my credit card to have the charge reversed.
We stayed as a family of 5, and fell in love with the place and the people that work there. We felt at home straight away, and can’t recommend it highly enough. Plenty to do on the island. With the guest services running different events all the time, Or relaxing on the many beaches, playing sports, pools, snorkelling, and much more. The staff go above and beyond. A few minutes from port villa, but just enough away for the seclusion.
We got married here in 2018 with about 60 guests. The wedding, island, and staff were fantastic. Couldnt recommend highly enough.
We took the kids and stayed for 2 weeks. This was our third trip to Vanuatu but the first time for the kids. Wed never stayed at Erakor Island previously. The resort is great, the local staff were fantastic (all Ni-Vanuatu are!and the location is excellent. The ferry across from the mainland runs on demand and only usually has a very short wait. There are nearly always buses or taxis waiting on the other side for wherever you want to go. Theres always something for the kids to do with activities and facilities catering for all ages. The place we stayed in was the Aqua Blue beach house. Unfortunately, its starting to show a bit of wear-and-tear, but overall, was still very comfortable to stay in and the positioning with your own little beach was great.Wed definitely stay at Erakor Island Resort again.
A great place to stay for locals or holiday makers. Easy to visit for a day visit just park near the jetty beside Le Lagoon. Not the best snorkeling in Vanuatu but still a relaxing atmosphere, quality facilities and nice swimming. Kids will love the playground and adults will love the food and cocktails
We visited for the day to go snorkeling and have lunch at the restaurant. The snorkeling is perfect for a family with kids. So many amazing colourful fish amongst the coral. The restaurant is as good as it gets. The food was the best weve had in Vanuatu, the service was so friendly and the views are tropical paradise. Just wish wed booked this resort.
We stayed for 3 nights, the standart rooms are pretty much small. Also last night i had this meal which is fish with banana and spinach leaves and i vometed at night. This usually does not happen to me but it seems there was something serious about the food. The crew is nice, breakfast too. Good room service and the view also very nice.
We had the most magical experience at Erakor Island Resort. We stayed for a week for our wedding in September, with family and friends. We had a few days of unusually heavy rain (for the time of yearso spent a lot of time in the bar - they make great cocktails! On the day of the wedding the team set up for Plan B in the restaurant but as the sky started to clear they set up all over again back to Plan A on the beach, and were happy to do so. That is what we loved the most about this resort, stunning location aside, snorkelling with Nemo aside, excellent Pina Coladas aside, it is the team that really make this resort outstanding. From patient Lorelle in reservations, gorgeous Blanca who was always checking that we were happy, the incredible Lita (who ensured my wedding ran smoothly and handpicked my flowers for my bouquet, on the island, because I didnt want the ones at the market), fabulous chief Henry (who also announced the wedding with his conch shell), Donalds awesome smile and conversations on the boat, Annies welcome every morning for breakfast, Kevin 007, the ladies in the day spa, the world-class bespoke dining experience created by Chef Glen, actually, every team member at Erakor was wonderful and went above and beyond the call of duty to ensure our satisfaction. We are so thankful to them and we will definitely return.
We live across the water, never stay here but come here often for dinner, drink, swimming and snorkeling. The bar and resto staff are great and the food was good.
The staff at Erakor Island Resort are the most genuinely nice, happy and accommodating people Ive ever met. The resort was beautiful and I cant wait to come back in July. They made our wedding day more perfect than we ever could have imagined. I highly recommend this resort for families, couples and singles of all ages.
Erakor was one of the best hotels my fiancé and i have ever stayed at. We really felt like we were on a tropical island holiday. The staff were incredible, the best of any hotel I’ve ever stayed at. The scenery was amazing (particularly the sunsets), the food was fantastic, the rooms were perfect for what we were looking for and the events and activities on the island were extremely enjoyable. We were there for a wedding and the resort did an amazing job of hosting it, in every way. If you’re going to visit Vanuatu, then stay at Erakor. Kevin, Blanca, Albert and Annie you guys are the best.
Great for a snorkel or swim. We paddled over from la lagoona resort. Cool bar and beach scene. Worth the visit from the main island. Water taxi 1500vt but you get 1000vt voucher to spend on the island.
Island on an island. Feels exclusive and private. Great place to switch off and disconnect from real life but connect to nature. Friendly staff. Dated accommodation but full functional so only adds to the old world charm.
great room, nice view, pity barely any aquatic life or they were small fry and overfished. taxi drivers can be good or dodgy as hell, the old man taxi driver tom or whatever he chooses to call himself for that day and that person is a rip and should be avoided, hell do his best to convince you hes upstanding but hell peer into your wallet/purse and pull out extra costs at the end that were not part of the deal, they have no meters so they make up the fares. there are great bus drivers you can hire which are often the better choice especially for day tours.
We had the most amazing day trip here on our honeymoon. The island itself is stunning and so relaxing and the staff are so helpful and friendly. Cant wait to go back.
Great place with excellent food, great people and service. The rooms are quite nice and the island is just beautiful. Thanks to Blanca, Kevin, Anna, Helena and the rest of the staff that made our holidays incredible.
We holidayed here for a friends wedding. The staff are lovely although some had a hard time understanding what we were saying (maybe our Aussie accents 🤷♀️). Amenities were great. Neat clean & tidy. Two negative things I would say is our room didnt have aircon & there is no swimming pool so for those that dont like swimming in the ocean there is no other option.
Why would I recommend this place? All of the above! We loved our stay at Erakor so much that at the end of our stay we left to go somewhere else and didnt like it as much so we came back to Erakor for the rest of our holiday. All the staff are super lovely and friendly. We will be back again for sure. thank you so much Erakor!!
What a tropical paradise! Staff are incredibly welcoming and helpful. Rooms are beautifully kept and Id say 90% have stunning water views. Grounds are lush. Restaurant is good, cocktails are delicious. Great watersport facility and beaches. Love it, dont want to go home!
Vanuatu was beautiful, at Erakor island, all staff were friendly and helpful. Plenty to do, be it relaxing or enjoying the island activities. Swimming, snorkeling, kayaking, paddle boarding, massages, night activities, movie n pizza, on the beach, fire dancing, learning about the culture, feast night. Childrens activities plan ground, learning some cultural skills. Baby sitting day and night. Beautiful breakfasts, very generous, lunches, dinner, cafe, and bar, everything you cold want.
It is amazing! The staff are super friendly and helpful, its practically a postcard in every direction you look from the island. Its a short trip to town with plenty of transportation just a couple mins walk away from the ferry drop off point.
Great for kids, with a lovely sandy beach and a range or water activities for a fun day out.I came for a day trip which cost 1500vt for me and 1000vt for my 9 year old however, 1500vt of this could be redeemed for a voucher to use on food or watersport equipment. They had a range of things to hire such as kayaks, snorkel gear, paddle boards etc. We used the glassbottom kayak to explore the surrounding waters a bit further which was a lot of fun.The snorkelling here is also pretty good with nice clear water on a high tide and corals with quite a few tropical fish such as clown fish, angel fish and we even saw some eels. Giant, colourful star fish cover the sea bed which is quite cool. But there are also some really large, gross looking sea worms and slugs in the shallower water. The actual island looks beautiful and is well maintained. The food at the beach bar was so average. I had a chicken burger that did nothing for my taste buds, and my son ordered the 60 second calamari which he said is "definitely not 60 second calamari, more like 60 minute calamari" as it took about 40mins to get to us. In the end it was 3 little calamari rings on some chips with fruit. He was happy with it in the end but I was disappointed with the food.We spent pretty much the whole day in the water and it was a great day out.
Loved our stay here. Just the best break on a beautiful little island with views, sparkling sea, white sand and coral snorkeling etc in the day and the sound of the sea lapping to lull you to sleep in the evening!Nice private cabanas.Great and friendly staff too!
Stayed in this resort for 5 days and really enjoyed it. Super friendly staff and beautiful little island. We loved the location and the atmosphere, the beaches and the views. Room was ok but could better considering the cost. Room service was the weakness. No phone in the room to call reception.Free WiFi was great for what it was.Water Sport equipments were really great and always available for all guests.Another weakness was the variety of food we could order in the restaurant. I wish they had more options.
Erakor Island Resort is very pretty and is a great place for water activities, such as snorkelling and paddle boarding. I went there for the Melasian Feast and fire show, which they host every Thursday. It was absolutely amazing. The food was great, the dances and entertainment were awesome and the fire show was spectacular. I would totally recommend going to Erakor Ispand Resort, even if its for a short time.
This place is such a fantastic place to stay in Vanuatu, I already know Im going to go back! The staff are so friendly! They remember your names and really treat you like friends. The food at the restaurant is very good and the complimentary breakfast is everything you would need. The masseuse here is also very good. We attended a wedding here and it was perfect! They also have free water equipment hire for people staying on the island but get in quick for the good stuff! There are also events on most evenings and kids activities on every day. The melanesian feast was an amazing event to go to, the food is amazing, fire dancing and the traditional dancers were so good!
The resort was quite nice, boat ride to the island is a good novelty the first few times but loses its appeal. The restaurant is OK, staff were mostly helpful for everything we needed which wasnt much. Id still recommend it if you want a secluded break that caters pretty well for kids
We stayed in the Lagoon Room. No air conditioner and the TV didn’t work, shower had no pressure and was was more like a sprinkler and sprayed everywhere. So many mosquitos and the net provide had holes through it.Food options are limited at the restaurant and a little pricy. Staff friendly and helpful.
Great service and friendly staff. Beautiful island, very peaceful. Great food and accommodation is excellent. Bring your own movies etc as no TV reception.
Fantastic experience and holiday. The staff are very friendly and great at helping with anything you need. The island is set up extremely well, from wedding services to snorkling anywhere safely around the island. I would highly recommend and have many great memories on this island resort. Would be going again one day.
We paddled across in a kayak and discovered the the restaurant, we found the atmosphere relaxed and so inviting. Had a chat with the staff, very friendly and keen to give us information . We left and returned in the later for lunch. The menu is amazing and our vegetarian meals were beautiful, beyond expectation. As we left, our paddle broke and the guys in the sports hut fixed it real quickAs we paddled away, we were talking about coming back here.....
The location is exceptional and there is free 24hour boat taking people on and off the island so there is no fear of getting stuck here. The staff are great and genuinely frendly helping with any inquiries. However the amenities are aging and our room felt old (scratch marks in the paint and the toilet paper holder fell off the wall). Some of the food served for breakfast was not fresh, but over all good food and good value.
FANTASTIC holiday at Erakor with a wedding inbetween. The staff were so friendly and made us feel like old friends. The resort grounds were constantly cleaned and looked great. The wedding went off with out a hitch. Thank you to the Erakor team for a dream holiday.
Had a fantastic relaxing holiday. Staff were amazing and so was the service. We snorkeled the lagoon, went kayaking, walked around the island (look out for a very quaint open roof church in the middle of the island - ideal for weddings), and enjoyed a true Vanuatu hospitality.Restaurant service was first class (recommend the local fish. Dessert is to die for)The rooms were well kept, tidy and clean. Very surprising for such a small island. We loved our stay there and would definitely come back
The staff were very friendly starting from the resort owner who took my booking to Paul the public relations to Betty who looked after our children. Not to forget the restaurant staff who were smiley and accommodating. The resort is family friendly. The little island is not crowded and easy access by boat. The rooms are built traditional whilst the furniture is comfortable. The only suggestion was to have ac in the rooms as some nights were really hot and you cant leave door open because of mosquitoes of course. Make sure you invest in a mosquito repellent . We enjoyed the tribal feast and our kids had great time. The menu is modern but if you stay many days you will end up with not much to choose.Try to book a local from the next door village to take you line fishing on a canoe. That was amazing. Million stars above you. Gardens are well looked after and the massage was amazing. You get to know everyone. The sandy beach is great for kids to play with starfish and snorkeling whilst at the other side of the island is coral reefs. Kids got to watch a movie at the beach with all you can eat pizza. I liked the resort because it is the closest to feel that you are on a small tropical island without too much commercialisation. Great and safe for kids The cocktails rock and the seafood very fresh. I would go back again definitely with my family.
Awesome resort, never gets crowded. Staff are super friendly. Lovely beach and great water sports equipment. No extra charges for stuff if you stay on the island. Kids love it here.
Beautiful Island resort. We visited for brunch. Thoroughly recommend their breakfast menu. From 7-10am. Afterwards we swam and snorkeled in the lovely lagoon. A great way to spend a morning.
We just spent five great nights at Erakor. The lagoon is a terrific spot to relax. Kayaks and paddle boards are free for guests to use and you can snorkel right off the beach. Erakor is just far enough out of town to feel completely isolated. Annie, Nathan and the rest of the staff are always around to help. We will return.
Wow, just happened to find this place as a cabbie took us here as part of his custom tour, as a cuise ship passenger they like to negotiate high, FYI city or to Erakor Island should be about $10AUS per person, back to b the review. A ferry is required to get to the island, it is $10 per person but you get that money as a voucher to be spent on the island! It is a small but beautiful island, the staff are incredible. Beach chairs and umbrellas for early comers and service on the beach... the restaurant was great and reasonable, we had the t bone steak, hummus and halumi, and rice paper rolls, the food was great... a few drinks and a sundae to finish off... based on our short daybtrip we look forward to coming back for an extended stay..
What a wonderful island! My 4 year old daughter is still raving and its been over 2 months since we have come home. Im often being reminded do you remember when we swam with the starfish and collected hermit crabs and did this and that etc etc the stories just keep being repeated. The staff on the island made our trip so special, hopefully we will be able to go back and visit one day. I dont think I could stay anywhere else in Vanuatu...
The island, resort and staff are so welcoming. Enjoyed the peace of the quiet lagoon and its natural beauty. My son and I had a lovely time, would have loved to have stayed more. We stayed post cyclone Pam so we did not know what to expect when we arrived. We neednt have worried. Though parts of the main island has been hit significantly, recovery efforts are well underway and the devastation is not that visible. Having said that the peoples of Erakor have been very stoic and determined to work through back to normal lives, you see it in the nature of the staff at Erakor and theyre willingness to pick up the pieces and move on. Special thanks to Lita, Henry, James, Blanca who made us feel very welcome and at home. The resort manager (sorry I forgot your name!was really great, helping us sort out some communication issues to do with with return transfer to the airport. Now that we are back into winter proper, I especially appreciate the charm and joys of this tropical gem. True there is no hot water, tv, phone or internet - but this is a place to get away from all that. Bring your friends or family, be alone with your loved one - but enjoy the old world, natural charm of a true tropical island. Btw, the food is fresh and deliciously made. Cant complain about the bar too - plenty of choices of cocktails and wines. Would go back anytime!
The staff at Erakor Island Resort were lovely and friendly (as are the whole Ni-Vanuatu people). The resort is a whole island, so you have to get a (24x7boat ride over (so dont pack too much!). Lots of (coral/sandbeaches and tropical island vegetation mean its very pretty, calm, and peaceful. The resort restaurant was excellent, with continental breakfast was thrown in for us (but they also serve pancakes for an extra fee). The rooms too are quite nice but hot water was sometimes sporadic. The spa seemed to be fully booked though.
I wanted to try out all of the island resorts, and Erakor was my favourite of the three I took day trips to. Situated in the lagoon, the blue water around it made snorkling and swimming just like I was acually inside a travel catalogue, and the boat fare of 1000 vatu could be used as a voucher for a drink or food. The place was beautiful and perfectly set up for both guests and visitors, and I can see why many people go to get married there (evidenced by the field of plaques of various happy couples). If you go, make sure you wander around and see the old mission chapel and other curiosities further into the island, but dont forget your swimmers. Absolutely worth visiting.
