Epoca Espresso Bar - La Artilleria - Cafe in Cartagena, Colombia
The staff, ambiance, and food were ALL great! If youre ever in Cartegena, Colombia, stopping by this place for breakfast is a must! I only wish that I had known of their existence earlier!
Delicious food and lovely place! I love all the different ways they use to brew coffee and you can choose your favourite one!
Nice coffeeplace with a big variety of different methods of drip coffee and espresso coffee. The drip coffee is prepared at your table and comes with an explanation of the coffee type and its flavors. The drip coffee was nice and mild and nicely flavored. We also had 2 slices of carrot and banana cake, the first better than the other. All in all a good place for a decent coffee!
Good light coffee but the banana cake is dense. Good venue and very relaxing spot in the city where you can relax and enjoy a nice cup or coffee.
Summary - massive coffee menu, clean, relaxed classy vibe, close to the beach.Yes, you should come here and enjoy a cup of coffee. However, deciding what kind of coffee you want is going to be difficult. There different styles of brew methods will be overwhelming to most and most likely you will have no clue on the styles. My suggestion is get the advice from the specific barista who will be making your coffee. Each barista is different in terms of what they specialize in and will have suggestions for you. Each method will come with the specific roast required. I do recommend smelling the roasts before going with a specific style. If you dont know your coffee pallet you can describe what you enjoy, this will lead you to success. While this review might come off as me being really high maintenance, well, I am. I roast my own coffee beans and enjoy nerding out on the topic.
If you want to experience coffee in its finest form, ask the barista. We had a great experience drinking syphon coffee as recommended and so glad we tried something a little different
Jazz music, amazing espresso, delicious eggs..what more can you ask for? Ate breakfast right when they opened at 7am, before our trip to the marina for Bendita Beach. Friendly staff, great breakfast, flat white, and cold brew!
Ok service, but good place for breakfast! Returned two times during my stay at Cartagena. The coffee is amazing.
A good pick if you get tired of Colombian food. The ingredients are well... South American quality but the meniu is really well thought through. The place looks nice, is clean and the service is perfect.
Not so good! We ordered an Arepa de huevo and the egg was runny, we told the waiter and the chef simply refried the same Arepa...it was very greasy. The service was not good and very slow. Most likely not coming back.
Best coffee in town! Chicken Diavolo sandwich is the best thing on their menu. Been here like 5 times.
You must try the syphoned coffee!! We love the staff and the cocktails!
this place was perfect for a quick breakfast! Service was excellent, loved the atmosphere. Shakahuka was sooo good. Could come back every morning!
This gem is an amazing place to get a cup of coffee and a quick bite. We did the coffee flight tasting and each coffee was spectacular. We enjoyed the single origin blend the most. If youre serious about coffee and youre in Cartagena, stop by this cool coffee place.
Great breakfast and coffee options. The waitress was extremely friendly and she spoke English for us to help us out. I had the steak and eggs with potatoes and it was great. The waitress took her time to press the coffee and explained the process to us. This cafe is small, warm, and welcoming. Make time to visit here while in Cartagena.
Very impressed with the interior! Esta muy rico el Latte frio!
Best breakfast in Cartagena. The food, service and wifi are consistently good. Made some modifications to my meal and staff more than excellent. Great place to get work done!!! Had breakfast here three days in a row!!
Our breakfast was absolutely DELICIOUS! Our server was wonderful and service was quick. I definitely now have a new breakfast spot for when I come back to Cartagena!
One of our favorite stops in Cartagena! Great coffee and pastries! Would have loved to try the meals as they looked amazing, too!
Hands down the best restaurant in Cartagena. In our 4 days in Cartagena, we went to Epoca 5 times. The best coffee in Colombia with a delicious menu as well. Great vibes and very attentive staff. I want to go back to Cartagena just for Epoca!! STRONGLY RECOMMEND
I would strongly advise the house special coffee drink, I posted a video which did not capture the amazing smells and taste. The egg arripa was superb. The Shushukra was so-so (pretty average, nothing special). Most people seemed to order the brioche breakfast sandwich which I wish I got, it looked fantastic. The waitress spoke great English and their passion for coffee was very apparent. The mimosa’s were boozy and delicious.
the calentado is awesome. the never disappointed me.
Coming from US, first time in this coffee shop Coffee EpocaIn old city CartagenaVery exclusive place,Great foodExcellent coffeeWaiters very attentiveI will definitively go backNatalia & Michael
I loved everything!! Good service, excellent food, great ambience, fair prices!
"MUST GO" best tasty coffee & presentation we found in Cartagena so far. And really delicious food! Top atmosphere: the interior and music playlist. Very gentle Crew. Overall, great place to be and awesome (=reasonable! non touristicvalue for money. Thanks.
One of the better coffee specialties in Cartagena. There are not that many that are following the strict barista guides but this is one luckely!
Coffee and venue were great. Service, quite slow, even to serve a beer. We ordered a slice of carrot cake, that looked real tasty. Unfortunately, we had to cancel it due to the long delay. The menu and the servings look interesting, though
I dont want to give 4/5 because the place seems otherwise very lovely, but do not order the chai. It is not chai. I dont know what it is, but it tastes like it came ready-mixed (no ground spices, and no spice flavour at alland the milk tastes like it may have expired. Really unpleasant. I would have complained but a wedding party of literally 30 people came in just after I ordered, so I was happy to get away from the noise and bustle. Its a shame, because the shakshuka eggs were fine, and I expect the rest of the menu and hot coffees are good.
Best café in Cartagena. Brunches are delicious especially the Shakahuka!
Amazing food! We got chicken and waffles plus the diablo sandwich which were both delicious. Definitely one of the best spots in Cartagena!
Fantastic coffee!! Come here for great coffees made by knowledgeable baristas
Great brunch and breakfast. Nicely served coffee. Friendly staff. Nice location.
Good food but slow service. I recommend the coffee window versus sit down.
Great breakfast spot. I got the egg sandwich and a Frappuccino, both very delicious
Went here for BurguerLegend. Their burguer was nothing out of the ordinary, but the pickle was fantastic. I hate pickles but for whatever reason theirs was fantastic. The place is really nice.
Nice place with a chill vibe. They have a policy of 45 minutes after your last order to remain at the place, that I think is ok. The staff is great and always attentive to help. The only think I would defer is the costly coffee they have, for 20 USD youll get 175 grams of coffee. Not even in Bogota 175 grams of coffee are that expensive, they argue this because is more "select" which I also defer because theres a lot of good more places to get coffee beans.
A surprising find in the old city. The folks here know their coffee! The barista was able to answer my questions and I was pleased to try a new (to metake on coffee that was delicious. The food here is also very good. It is definitely worth a visit if you can make it!
Good food but poor service. We went there to have breakfast on Sunday morning. The place was crowded but there were only 2 waitresses. They tried to do their best but wasn’t enough. Our plates were very lateI recommend: calentado, avocado toast
The staff are so friendly. And they make amazing cappuccino (also available with soy- and almondmilk)! The best I had in South America :)
We had the best espresso ever. Single origin espresso from a true barrista. We could also try iced could brew coffee. A coffee lovers paradise
Very friendly stuff. Awesome coffee. Awesome food. Very nice ambiance
Best cafe weve found in Colombia. They do coffee tastings (in Spanish and English), and the barista was extremely knowledgeable, helpful, and friendly.
Great place and food.Unfortunately overshadowed by a group of 40 year old women screaming at the top of their lungs (could work on improving their acoustics).
Great breakfast spot, with many preparations for coffee brews to choose from (hario, chemex, French press, aeropress, percolator). Our first visit was for a quick iced coffee to go, our 2nd was for a sit down breakfast. The barista prepared our drip coffee at our table, taking us through the measured, wetting and blooming process which was great for friends who werent familiar with the drip process. Loved the decor, food and friendliness from the entire staff, I recommend visiting. Note: Staff speaks both English and Spanish.
By far the best coffee Ive had while living in Colombia. The ambiance is outstanding and the service is 5 star quality.
The staff here really cares about a quality cup of coffee. Despite what you may think is actually extremely difficult to find in Colombia. They make some excellent brunch cocktails as well.
Great for working from, nice and quiet with comfy furniture. Good music and friendly service.
Stumbled across this on the way to the dock, had lovely ice coffee and then breakfast another day and it was delicious, egg cocotte with salmon and feta. Very helpful staff, lovely little spot with free WiFi as well!
One of only a couple of places when travelling that I have gone back to to eat. The staff have pride in their work; whether its the food, the cocktails (Nordes G&T and the Bulldog cocktail with strawberries and lychee), or to my surprise the coffee (cappuccino); its very good.
A little on the far end of town and unfortunately no English speakers, but the food was absolutely delicious. I had the tabbouleh and mixed plate, along with their house specialty martini. Everything is served in a beautiful form and this place holds a high standard to serve its customers a great experience.
