Enoteca Al Volto - Venetian restaurant in Venice, Italy
Enoteca Al Volto in Venice
Description
Privilege
We had our Rinfreso here after our wedding and it was just wonderful. The people were all super nice, the food and wine were excellent and the price was also great.
MoreVery delicious food and friendly staff
Super delicious cichetti and good wine. Feels very traditional and has absolutely fair prices for Venice.
MoreSmall pours of wine, ok cicchetti, the three cod dish was overpriced. Would go elsewhere.
MoreDefinitely one of our favourite bars of Venice. Full of locals which we love. Lovely wines and craft beer and super tasty cicchetti. If you like venturing off the beaten track be sure to visit here 🇮🇹👌🏼
MoreAppalling value, terrible food. I had clams and mussels with spaghetti. The clams were gritty and the mussels weren’t fresh. One pasta course and a glass of wine and water cost £24 Euro!
MoreThe food was really good, the place was charming bit the service was poor. The waiters were friendly but not very attentive.
MoreThis place is wonderful. Great spot to stop at for a quick bite, a full dinner or just some delicious Select Spritz.
MoreLoved this place, great for lunch. Authentic and reasonably priced. We had lovely chicetti and three drinks each 20 euros a head. Busy, unsurprisingly. 👏😀
MoreWent for a Dinner reservation at 21:00 on a Monday and was seated outside.- Reserved through google, there was a no-show fee of around 40 euros (IIRCwhich IMO is way too much- Inside felt like an oven and there was no internet signal, but luckily we were seated outside. Sadly this meant we sat alongside smokers and had to battle mosquitos.- Menu was on a QR code, but sadly it wasnt working properly. It showed options that werent really available, it was missing options that were available (e.g. empty Drinks menu), and though it claimed that you can actually order through it, you cant.- More of a personal thing - there were only 2 options on the menu that didnt include sea food: Tagliatelle with Truffles, Pork Ribs eith Honey. Sadly we were told they were out of Pork Ribs so wr had to order the Tagliatelle. They were also out of Tiramisu and out of Coke.- Bread was old, dry, and hard, felt like eating a piece of carsboard. Was served without any oil or even a plate.- The table itself was crooked and came close to flipping over a few times.- The Tagliatelle was bland and way too oily. Tasted worse then what I can cook at home with pre-made super market Pasta.- The dessert we ended up ordering (dont remember the nameended up being great but sadly it was served with forks and not spoons.- Overall service was super slow. When finished we were asked to come inside to pay as the machine didnt connect from outside (internet problems).
MoreWe came to start our wedding anniversary with a quick drink and decided to stay for a wonderful dinner in a perfect location with a perfect crew. Thank you so much Maurizio, Dennis and Aleksandra to turn our celebration into a unique experience that we will never forget!
MoreSo far my favorite place for bacaro!! So many different kinds of foods in mini sandwiches to try!! The staff were absolutely amazing! They could speak Italian Spanish and English! This location also has a washroom. Very close to the rialto bridge! The aperol mismos were AMAZING and delicious. Gracias por todo!
MoreThe food was great here, no doubt about it. The problem was the service. There was a middle aged, bald gentleman who we dealt with. We had to wait for a table and he was not very friendly towards us. There was a group of Italians who came after us and he sat them very quickly while we waited. When my fiancée went up to him to ask about the wait, he was very abrupt and rude towards her for asking a question. If it wasn’t for the recommendations we got to come here, we would’ve left and went somewhere else. Maybe it was an off night for this man but that’s no excuse to be snippy towards customers, especially since we were being very polite towards him.
MoreThey help explain all the different cicchettis to you and recommend some good seafood snacks as well. Really good quality food and where the locals go- recommended. Veggies will find caprese bites and gorgonzola bites here.
MoreFood is good, authentic italian restaurant with limited menu mostly seafoods, orders some appies and main dishesh after 1hr we got only our dishes
MoreWould definitely recommend making a reservation here - it’s a tiny little spot but so worth it! We couldn’t get a table for dinner so we came back for lunch the next day. They have restaurant service and a food counter for lunch, pasta dishes are part of the restaurant service.
MoreCustomer service seemed lazy and inattentive at first. Food was ok, the meat and fish dishes were cold, and the bread felt old.The Spritz Bianco was simply water with a shot of white wine, and even the Spritz Aperol was not good, normal wine instead of sparkling one was used.0/10 Italian experience - more like a tourist trap. Don’t understand the good rating.
MoreIf I could give 6 stars I would. Service was impeccable. The staff couldnt have been more helpful. We were trying to decide on a wine and they were more than happy to help. The cicchetti was delicious.... Perfection. This is exactly the type of place to visit to get a real experience of Venice verses the tourist traps. We thoroughly enjoyed sitting outside drinking wine, people watching and chatting.... If we were staying in Venice longer we would definitely have come back! Thanks for looking after us
MoreBad experience. Rude service. Data and internet do not work in the restuarant hence unable to translate the menu. Requested for recommendations as we don’t read the language, owner replied us rudely that it’s a standard menu and walked away, not recommending any items in the menu. We end up ordering random pasta, and cost us 50+ euros. Horrible experience.
MoreBetter stay away if you don’t want stomach problems - make sure the Tuna is fresh.
MoreThe place looks lovely, the service is also very atentive and nice. However the food is of poor quality. Cichetti were tasteless and not fresh at all, I was not able to finish them. Tuna steak, good in flavour, led to stomach problems in the evening...
MoreVery nice small enoteca and trattoria. Great stuffed pasta- tortelloni with gamberi and good pasta with vongole. Prices are fair for Venice. lp
MoreAmazing dinner from start to finish. Everything was fresh and perfectly prepared with delicious flavors. Would recommend asking for a table outside if available as the inside is a bit cramped. We started with a mixed seafood antipasti (omg, the octopus was SO TENDERand then I had the linguine with mussels (clams were unavailable as the fish market was closed, per the waitressand my partner had the gnocchi. We finished every bite. Drinks were very affordable, with $5-6 euro beers and $4 euro wine. We had all this food, 3 beers and a glass of wine for 75 euros. If you’re looking for a place that has food pictures and English menu then this isn’t the place for you. But we appreciated their simplified Italian menu and the waitress politely translated each menu item for us before we ordered. It shouldn’t be expected to be in English anyway and we could have used our phones to translate if needed. This is a casual, no frills place with high level food. For amazing seafood, look no further than this place. 👍🏻
MoreCute spot down an alley in Venice where you can get ombre and cicchetti. If youre early enough you probably dont need a reservation but after 8:00 they seem to have reservations so book ahead! Food, wine and service was good. I was late so I got the last cicchetti which generally arent as good as the early stuff.
MoreAll my text disappeared while taking a photo! Thanks google! Where were we?Yes, the fantastic enoteca! We drank white wine with fantastic pasta, pulled-pork and squid with polenta! Perfect! Did I say that I am drunk on the wine! It is delicious! So come get your glass of wine here! And sorry for not having the photos of the mains as they were delicious and there was no time to stop :ups!
MoreThe al Nero di Seppia pasta is the best one Ive had in Venice (and trust me Ive eaten a few too many hahah)Not all secondis are as good. I tried one that was rather mediocre, but Id definitelly come back for the black ink pasta!I also recommend ordering Sarde in Saor here. The staff is adorable and very welcoming. Their English level is high enough to help with choosing dishes and explain what igredients are they made up of. The lack of English menu is not a problem at all and only adds to the experience.
MoreThis is a cozy restaurant in the center of Venice. We had arranged dinner as part of a travel agency tour. We tasted three types of pasta with excellent cheese. Very tasty wines, cold spring water, cola drinks were available. The evening ended with dessert - delicious vanilla ice cream. The restaurant staff were nice, constantly refilling the drinks. The restrooms were clean, but often occupied due to the fullness of the restaurant. I absolutely recommend this restaurant.
MoreGreat little sit down eatery small dishes, just sat the staff what is put on the bread. Love the location, service is friendly. Great experience for anyone.
MoreIncredible spot. Would come back tomorrow and get the same again. Best meal in Italy so far! Get the tortellini or the octopus gnocchi.
MoreI write this review because I was lucky to find this restaurant, and I write this because of the great stuff ( Elxandra you were great helpful incredible and you made my night with your beautiful soul, thank you so much and I hope to see you again
MoreService was absolutely awful. Gave us a menu in Italian knowing we were English speakers and left us to google translate all of the dishes for ourselves. When we finally were able to order, key ingredients on dishes we wanted weren’t available, ended up having to negotiate with the wait staff for some variation of something. We were left sitting with empty plates and empty glasses for 45 minutes in between courses before they brought us our entree. Asked for the bill and waited for another 20 minutes before ultimately going up to the counter and paying
MorePasta was decent but secondi took over 40 min to arrive, was cold and not worth finishing. No attempts to get us to order more drinks or water, just poor service. Had to get up to pay, and even that was after waiting for the bill after asking. Paid because I ordered, but would have given zero stars if possible. Not sure if there are new owners, but avoid this spot.
MoreTl;dr: terrible service, hidden chargesWe ducked in for a quick lunch on a not busy Tuesday, they wouldn’t let us sit in the front (but if course as we were leaving other Italians were able to sit there and eat, not just tapas), fine so we sat in the back. The waitress asked if we were ready to order and we said yes, assuming we would get the menu first. Of course she looked exasperated at us expecting us to have already known what we wanted and then went and grabbed our menus. We got the misto for the appetizer and spaghetti in cuttlefish ink for main as well as house wines. The spaghetti lacked some salt and flavor so we asked for some Parmesan, which we ended up getting charged $2 extra PER person for. I just wish they were a little kinder and more transparent about pricing. The taste was of the food really was nothing specialI wouldn’t come back, there are places with kinder waters and less hidden charges with a way better view
MoreDelicious cicheti with the softest bread. I didn’t like sandwiches before I tried this place! Where the locals eat so very authentic and simple.
MoreCute little spot serving nibbles when the kitchen is closed
The food was very tasty and this is why I give two starts. Apart from that the service was bad, the owner impolite and annoyed with our presence. I feel that if you dont speak Italian you are just not welcome in this place. The general experience was awkward and we have felt unwanted as visitors. Its a pity because serving someone who is passing by your city could be a pleasant experience for both sides and have felt it in other places...
MoreSo grateful to have found Enoteca Al Volto! The staff was genuinely kind, attentive, and helpful. Our dishes were amazing! The flavors danced in your mouth in a way that made you savor and enjoy every bite. Their wines by the glass were quite good that we ended up trying different styles to pair with our meals. This place has its rustic charms that were inviting and comfortable. We hope to be back to this place on our next trip to Venice. To the staff at Enoteca Al Volto: Grazie mille!
MoreLittle gem hidden off the tourist routes. Very local. Reasonably priced in Venice standarts. Friendly service. Ask for the house wine. Very very good. Food was tasty and filling. Little tapas style starters are worth a try too. Highly recommended.
MoreHad the tagliatelle with truffle butter, worth it, not overpowering, just the right amount of everything... On top of that we had lemon dessert (not a fan of tiramisu, but they said its freshly made in storewhich was lovely!
MoreSuch a quaint yet very much alive venue! This is a wine bar restaurant in its most traditional fashion. We saw people ordering small bites and tartines with a glass of wine, standing near the counter and others sitting at tables for a full dinner. The wine selection was good and never onerous: this is not a posh place! Our food was delicious. We had a soft polenta with prawns to start with and then the tagliatelle with truffle butter which filled the room with its distinctive musky smell and gnocchi with seafood (mostly squid). Even the dessert (caramel mousse cakewas good, despite it being bought in without a doubt. The staff was great, and their English is good enough to translate the menu! I would only advise people to book a table at it is not a big place.
MoreFrom just a glass of wine to a complete dinner, this enoteca will not let you down. Everything it is super good. Almost every dish made with fresh good fish. I recommend everything, even vegetarian food is way too delicious for not to try. Nice vintage decoration and tables outside.
MoreWe stayed in Milan and took a day trip to Venice. After checking out several other restaurants in the area, we decided to stop and eat here! Best decision ever! It was the best meal and aperol sprintz we had since we arrived in Italy (7 days prior). The homemade toasts, mussels and pasta were all very delicious. And the server actually spoke great english and translated the entire menu for us. We even got our pasta well done and it was perfect (for our taste). As for the aperol, he actually used Aperol and not Campari which is bitter, and it tasted sweet/bitter and proper. I highly recommend stopping at this hole in the wall place - since they are usually the best! Thank you for an amazing meal. 👏👍🏼
MoreBest food and service I had during our whole trip to Venezia.
Amazing place! Service ladies are the best! Very kind. Menu is good and food is amazingly presented and tastes delicious . House wine is awesome! Toilet needs to be cleaned. But overall beautiful experience and very recommended.
MoreThis is an interesting little restaurant in Venice that offers two options for patrons during lunch: a takeaway option and a dine-in option. I decided to choose the latter to experience their primary menu and I’m glad I did. The food was excellent. Everything was flavorful and cooked to perfection. The octopus was exceptionally tender and the ravioli was rich and creamy. I’d expect the takeaway options are equally tasty but I couldn’t recommend the dine-in option more. The sit down space is definitely cozy and in a very old building but the food will not leave you disappointed.
MoreThe waitress speak multi languages. The food is delicious, we tried the octopus with vegetable which is amazing but the mixture of fish is not that good.
MoreI loved this little enoteca. It’s well-hidden but really a great place to eat and drink. I had some of the best mussels I’ve ever had followed by a very tasty dish of Bigoli with octopus. The cheese cake with mango was also delicious as were the wines.
MoreGot recommended this place from a tour guide. Full of locals and lacked all the tourist trap signs! A little complicated to find but worth it. Eat outside for cicchetti (stuff on bread, a bit like tapas but don’t call it that haha). We wanted a sit down place so got a spot inside for the restaurant which is a different menu. Mussels were fat and delicious and the Bigoli (pastawas perfectly al dente. Octopus salad also great. Great place to exit the crazy tourist side of Venice.
MoreEnoteca Al Volto is one of those places that is fancy without trying to be fancy. The seasonal menu rotates...we started with the fish from the window platter and finished with duck ravioli and pumpkin gnocchi pasta with gorgonzola. All the food exceeded expectations, the staff was incredibly friendly and knowledgeable about the vast wine selection, and the ambiance was fun and airy.Highly recommend this place for any occasion!
MoreThis would be a fab little place.A great place to nibble Cicchetti, drink a glass or two of vino.. They also have a cute little restaurant at the rear...Problem - Staff! Shocking. Rude. Blunt. Compared to many other Bacari / Enoteca / Trattoria... So many other ones to choose from, with great wine, nibbles PLUS Great staff... But not here. Avoid. The owners need to teach the staff how customer service should be... In fact I feel quite bad for the owners.
