This 16th-century castle houses a local history museum & a gallery with military artifacts.
Excellent front of house staff in reception, lots of listening seats and visual displays for children. Well worth a visit.
It’s adding history and a is a great place to vist
Fantastic displays and real value for money, you could easily spend half a day here if you went to the café as well. We didnt get to try that as we arrived at about 3:30pm and 4pm is the last entry so wanted to see as much as we could. 1.5hrs is a bit of a rush, Id recommend 2-3hrs with a break.
Good but small, very friendly staff. No too bad to spend an hour. Id recommend it.
If you’re a history buff, this is the place to be. Lots of preserved war artifacts, the museum itself is built within the castle. There is an admission fee, however it is minimal. Great coffee shop inside the entrance building with friendly staff.
Great place to visit the museum is an excellent setup and easy to walk around but the 4th building has stairs over 3 floors so not good for anyone who has problems with walking. The cafe on site is very good and all staff are very good and helpful. I would recommend this to anyone visiting Enniskillen.
Here to find out about a relation in the Inniskilling Fusiliers. Hit the spot! Great information..and cafe.
The island town is a great place to visit, and the castle is fascinating. Then you also have wonderful boat trips to do. Visit Enniskillen.
An interesting unique museum aside a park and river setting with convenient parking only a few metres/yards from the entrance. Fascinating displays of the regions early settlement up to Enniskillen towns recent years. And, of course, the history and wonderful displays of the deservedly proud Inneskilling regiments and those that served.
Finally found my Great Uncle Franks war memorial. Francis OKelly Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers died 18th January 1944 battle of Garigliano
Excellent. Very informative. Mark Scott is a very knowledgable guide. Would highly recommend a tour and learn about one of the great Regiments of its day.
Lovely place to visit for any age! The tickets were very reasonably priced too. There’s so much to read and so much interesting things to see, so much history to experience. Interactive exhibits with sound too which is great. Venue also very accessible for wheelchair users which I found very good. Cafe was nice & had oat milk so I enjoyed a latte after buying some lovely items in the gift shop at the end. Staff were lovely, friendly and informative. Would go back again as there’s so much history you cannot take it all in during your first trip!
Good value for money £ 13.50 for a family. Lots of information about Fermanagh, Enniskillen and history of the castle.
Well worth the admission if ur in to military history a must . Its small but good also the coffee shop is good u can sit out .
Great place really enjoyed it
Very diverse and interesting exhibits. Lots to see for only a £5 admission fee.
Absolutely wonderful place, free parking, more than reasonable entrance fee. So well thought out. Our boys (12,10,7 & 5absolutely loved it! A special mention to the lady in the gift shop, who went above and beyond to interact with the boys, tell them all about the war artifacts and help them try them on. Sparked a real fire for historical knowledge in our boys. Thank you! 😊
This is a really great museum about the local military history of Enniskillen. It’s a must-visit for those interested in this history
Lovely Castle and the staff are so helpful and friendly
Excellent really enjoyed very helpful staff, recommend visiting the Keep positioned centrally in courtyard fantastic memorabilia especially 2nd and 3rd floor
Changed completely since our last visit , a lot more information available on the self conductive tour.
A gorgeous castle and location, with free parking, clean toilets and a cafe on entrance, the tour offers beautiful history and artifacts of Enniskillen/Fermanagh through the ages and well as the regiments that were formed there. We were let down when we were abruptly kicked out at 5pm as the museum was closed however we spent money on a tour which we didnt get to finish, surely you would stop taking admissions at 5pm, but let the visitors finish the tours they had paid for??? I know we werent the only visitors disappointed that day. On another note I would allow for a couple of hours to complete the tour, as there is a lot of history to take in and a lot of reading is involved
We visited the castle on a monday. It offers the story of the town of Enniskillen and the regiments. Free parking available! One can learn a lot of the local history. Visiting Enniskillen this is a must!
Excellent, educational, fun and very though provoking. I visit here at least twice every month as I live just about 10 minutes walk from there.
Awesome place, enjoyed all of it, fascinating reading the history and loved the medals on display
Yet again stepped in history. Deaths and stone cold murder. Theres also a trail of love doves on certain buildings in the island centre. Beautiful scenery and the people were friendly. Mother in law left her hand bag in the disabled toilets and it was handed in intact. We couldnt find the person who handed it in but definitely restored our faith inhumanity
Visited with family over the summer holidays. Lovely castle to visit and nice cafe where we had a good coffee.
It was good but not the fairytale castle we were expecting. Lots of information about the Irish soldiers in the British army. Lots of medals too. Staff were very friendly and helpful.
You have to ask yourself at what point in history do people decide “we don’t need a castle anymore, let’s own a coffee shop” then we can charge people £4 for a small pot of tea ( that works out at around £36 a gallon, and you complain about petrol prices!Ho! And we can slap in a scone that has cost us 30p for £3 ( I put that in just to cause a storm, actually they are only £2.95, well that’s better isn’t it?
Free parking at museum, free entry to the site. Café at entrance along with toilets. The area is very well maintained. Clean and tidy. Tables outside you can also sit at and soak up the atmosphere.Various areas to have a look at, there was only one building I believe does not have a lift to go upstairs and that is the main building in the centre as it is on of the oldest. However, you can enter the ground level which is the original part of the building. Everywhere else is wheelchair and parm accessible. Staff very friendly and helpful. I believe you can pay for a tour guide if you wish. There is a beautiful walk along the water way that runs just outside the museum. You can sit and watch some boats go by, groups doing water sports that are on the little island or kick a ball around on the grass area. A beautiful area to visit.
Interesting place, particularly if you like military history. Lovely, helpful staff at reception.
Well worth a visit for the history of the castle, the local regiments and the local area. Friendly staff able to answer any questions and well laid out.
Queens Jubilee Parade - Saturday 4th June 2022.
Ara now in fairness..the castle looks like it was erected in 1992. Its a pretty poor castle but the area is lovely. Enniskillen is an amazing town in fairness. Id give enniskillen 6 stars but the castle 3. Well worth spending 3 to 4 days here and great bars are located here:)
Visited on Easter weekend and the staff had set up an Easter treasure hunt. The kids loved looking for the eggs with clues.Museums are varied and interesting with a broad range of history and art on display.Definitely worth a visit if you are in the area.
We enjoyed it. The children enjoyed the Easter egg trail and were richly rewarded! We enjoyed everything really, the art, the old treasures, the gardens, the history. And we had a good lunch in the cafe too!
Lovely historic property with cafe and visitor centre cost is very reasonable
Brilliant museum that covers so many aspects of Fermanaghs heritage - beautifully presented, with great, helpful staff. Love every visit!
Just popped in for a bite to eat and was very impressed by the set up.. didnt stay for a tour but thats for another day..the food was lovely and very reasonably priced and staff were very friendly
Brilliant. Guides very knowledgeable
Stopped in, did the self-guided tour of the castle grounds and museums. Tons of interesting history here!
Very historical castle exploring local history from mulitipal periods.Helpful and friendly staff.
Recommend this as a visit when you are in Enniskillen especially on a wet day! Complimentary tea, coffee (Americano only), water or juice per person as part of your ticket in at the cafe. Some of the museuems/interactive attractions were closed due to COVID, but we went on the "take 5" ticket and saw loads of exhibits. Shout out to Heather, she was lovely! Nice walk along the river after. Go to the left and theres a playground at the Lakeland Forum which was a pleasant surprise for my daughter!
Lovely small castle, combining buildings ranging from 14th century (main buildingto the 16th and 18th century. Also includes various exhibit s of the area, castle and historic events from ancient periods to recent times. Worth the visit.
Enjoyed our visit today to the castle. Interesting history of the castle and its uses over the centuries. Also art gallery and Eniskillen history in separate area. If you have young kids, they may find the exhibits a bit boring, however there were "dress up" areas to keep younger kids interested, and a fair amount to do. As with many museums, my kids were charging ahead, so didnt get much time to read. Would maybe like to go back when theyre a bit older and perhaps willing to spend more time learning about the various exhibits!
A great day for exploring some our our local history and the history for the Royal Enniskilling Fusiliers. There are numerous exhibits within the castle so there is a bit of history for everyone. Regimental shop also on site.
A nice activity for the whole family, but a some of the exhibitions are outside so the weather is something to think about.
We loved our visit here could spend 3_4 hrs easily here kids dressing up cannons tanks. Story chairs show and tell stuff. Great exhibtions of swords spear guns armour amd medals and lots lots more. Its well looked after and well layed out. It has great views of the river also
Steeped in history and culture well worth a visit. I particularly enjoyed learning about all the military history stretching back hundreds of years.
We stopped in at Enniskillen because we had a long drive, this came highly recommended online, and we thought it would be a good break. It was fine. The castle was mostly gone, but it had some some interesting pieces. It was well organized and clean. I personally wouldnt recommend it, but if you like history, it might be nice to learn a little about the area.
