Emerald Cabin & Caravan Village - in Emerald, Australia
Nice place to stay. Cabins are very nice. Next time however we get a bigger cabin. 2 large dogs and 2 humans was a little cramped. But overall we really enjoyed our stay. We will be back.
Cute, clean and nice campgrounds, although a little cramped. We stayed at a "small" campsite. Had what we needed: flat ground, picnic table and campfire pit with grill plate.
I complained in a previous review, but I was tired and cranky then. After more thought, it is a clean place, stunning forest, nice staff. Im trying to delete my cranky review.
Get a moss encrusted cabin under the redwood trees and just soak in the forest Vibe. The cabins are tidy and modern enough inside without ruining the charm. Think Wifi and a wood stove. You’ll find an electric stove, microwave, refrigerator, two coffee systems, and a couple of pots and pans. You’re very close to your neighbor so luckily there’s a 10pm noise curfew. Can’t do much about quieting the highway or the road but these weren’t really a bother. Dogs welcome but if course no free ranging. There’s a grocery a few minutes drive away and restaurants if you’re feeling lazy.
No washers and dryers, though a number of (oldreviews say so. Would be nice if that incorrect data were updated. Also kind of misleading as to what is a two bedroom cabin and what is two or three beds in one open room. This place is fine, but look around. Maybe you can do better for the price. Bottom line, this area is stunningly beautiful. My complaints aside, youll have a good time here in the forest.
Stayed here for a week, way too over priced for what they offer. RV sites are way too close to together, we couldnt even have our awning open. The facilities are all worn out and broken. Had a staff member park their car arms length from our RV the entire time we were there. Staff was rude as well.
I am giving 3 stars due to all the staff members being super polite including the manager, BUT one of them and could not get her name. She needs to learn customer service especially dealing with the public. I normally don’t leave bad reviews, but it was my birthday weekend and a very special one that my husband surprised me with. To the woman who yelled at both my hubby and I we won’t be back if you are there. We have been coming for years and this was such an experience I won’t forget. Thank you to all the other staff members who treated us with respect and kindness. And we didn’t even ask for a refund or any discounts. All we wanted was to be treated more with respect and kindness. The response from whoever is a lie!!! Your staff straight yelled at both my husband and I and I had to contact you guys not you guys contact us! My hubby didn’t yell he raised his voice as your staff member came around the corner when we were explaining our situation to the manager and straight yelled and both my hubby and myself. A misunderstanding!! Ha another lie and I will NOT ever stay at your place again! I have multiple people whom have had the same experience with the same young girl! No worries. Now I wish we would have asked for a refund with this lie of a response! Have a blessed day!
This is a beautiful, though tightly packed, campground in the California Redwoods. Each campground has a picnic table and grill for a fire. Coming from NM, I was a bit disappointed that the boyfriend and I couldnt find a free camping site but this was worth the cash! Not too expensive and absolutely breathtaking. If youre looking for a Redwoods camping experience, this is the place to find it!
Our family has been going to Trinidad for many years and we enjoy staying at emerald forest. The office help you and are very friendly. cabins are nice and we stay in the tent sites and this time we took our trailer was great.. Until we camp again..
We’ve stayed at this campground several times. We’ve recommended this campground to friends and family. Brought all of our family for our sons birthday 2 years ago and try to make it back every year. We have always enjoyed the campground with the redwood trees and the close proximity to the beach. We are familiar with the campground and have noticed some sites are very small and some sites are right along the freeway. We had made a fairly last minute reservation recently but on the phone, asked about which sites were available and explained that we did not want an overly small site or a site next to the freeway so we picked a site that would work for us and felt pretty lucky there was a site available that we could still enjoy. We ended up leaving town late on the first night of our reservation and knew we would not make it all the way so I called and explained that we would be there the next day. We had paid in full in advance and did not expect a refund due to our leaving late and not making it that first night . They said no problem, they would leave and envelope on the door in case we ended up driving all the way. We did not make it that first night and they called the next morning and told us they had made a mistake and gave our reserved camp site to another visitor but that the site next to it was available. I asked what the difference in sites was and I was told it’s a “smidge” smaller. They also wanted to let me know the next site next to that was open as they don’t book it due to it being so small but that we could “spread” out into that site. We were frustrated but it didn’t sound too bad so we continued on and made our way there. We checked in, they had refunded us for that first night due to the mishap which was nice and all but then we pulled up to the “smidge” smaller site. It was tiny. Not enough room for our ten. The fire pit was along the road and not enough room to actually sit around and enjoy not to mention we brought our 2 large labs with us. I went back to the office and explained the issue. We were given one other option and it was a site right along the freeway. We went to look at it, the site itself was nice but the freeway noise was pretty obnoxious but we really had no other choice because at this point we weren’t making the trip back home and our son was excited to camp and go to the beach. Of course they offered to refund us and we could go somewhere else but clearly that wasn’t an option Because everywhere is booked. Well have you ever slept on the side of the freeway? At 4 am is sounds like semi trucks coming through your tent, not to mention the stress of worrying about there being an accident and a car comes flying through the tent. We got horrible rest. My husband and I were both woken up by the road noise at 3:30-4 am both mornings. It was awful. One employee was apologetic but the rest really just got attitudes with me. It would have been nice if they had offered something to try to make it right. Even if they offered to get the manager or owner but I had a feeling they wouldn’t care either. As the employees spouted we have the right to move you wherever we want. It’s really unfortunate because we are now worried to have this experience again. The worst part was being lied to about the original site they were moving us to being a “smidge” smaller. We made the best of it but we drove home exhausted after getting no sleep during our stay. I’m surprised there is not a fence along the freeway to offer some safety and sound barrier. On a good note, the bathrooms are decent and pretty well kept. There are only 2 showers in the womens (a third was not workingbut the showers are decent for a campground. The campground in all is pretty and they have a grassy area for playing ball and a dog area. It’s close to a grocery store and close to the beach. 1st pic is the site we had reserved. 2nd and 3rd pic are the sites they said we could “stretch” into. Notice the bottom half of the pic is the road.
Very clean campground and amazing showers but had no bear safe trash cans which is a threat for the local wildlife. We woke up one morning and there was bear poop with tons of visible trash in it. A good campground should have more concern for wildlife.
I made resevations for an RV spot and a tent site months in advance. When I arrived we were placed about as far apart as possible and the RV spot was a joke nestled between the emergency generator that kicked and ran at 630am and the bathhouse. The bathrooms have been redone in dark tile which hides the dirt really well. The showers drains were slow so you got to shower in a puddle. The two guys in the office couldnt care less. I would definitely not stay here again
The Good:The campsite was clean. The showers were clean and had really hot water. The workers were nice enough, even when they were dealing with me while I wasnt being very friendly because of a check-in issue that wasnt their fault. The Bad:The power to my site didnt work, and I didnt realize it until after our first night when none of my lights would turn on. I opened the fridge to luke-warm food and drinks that I had bought for the week. I called the office to let them know, and took off for the day. While I was gone they called and let us know that their maintenance checked it out, and the power was all good on their end.I got back later that day and my power still wasnt working. I spent the rest of the week without power thinking it was my trailer with an electrical issue. Upon returning home yesterday, I plugged my trailer into my 30amp that I have installed at home and have zero issues. It really made what could have been a great experience pretty sub-par having to navigate my trailer with a flashlight at night for a week without heat or a working refrigerator.
We stayed in a cabin and it was awesome. The cabin was clean and warm. And best of all it was quiet. Every employee we encountered was gracious and kind!! Cant wait to return!!
Really clean and newly renovated cabin in a lovely old growth forest. Enjoyed our stay. We will definitely return whenever in the area.
We have stayed here multiple times over the years and loved location in the beautiful trees. However onsite management has changed and they are not professional in the management of the facility. Property caters to fulltime residents and an interesting group of locals who dont even seem to be staying at the resort. This is not a safe place for females traveling alone or families with children who are not closely watched. We expressed our concerns but were ingored by the management.
I would give the RV sites a neutral review. They are dirty, the cars that drive right by do not adhere to any speed signs so you get dusted out and they just arent made for 5th wheels at least not spot 20. The check in lady was rather rude when we arrived .45 minutes early ... However, I think the cabins are probably great.
I really like this place. Everyone seems to mind their own, restrooms are kept pretty clean considering all the use, and the staff carry out routine chores like clockwork. As a visitor from far away I appreciate all of that.Constructive criticism, Im from the south, there really should be some kind of lounge building/room that is dehumidified for the campers. I got sick during my trip. There is nowhere to go to sit and retreat from the soaked Forrest with a fever. Wouldnt have to be huge, but Im sure people forgetting firewood, or people like me etc would appreciate it endlessly.
We had a lovely stay here with our church. Friendly staff, lovely location, and the cabins were very nice to stay in. We also had some in tent and trailer spots - which we only heard good things from.
Unfortunately we had to camp next to a full time resident. He decided to build himself a little campfire around 11pm. His chopping wood should like gun shots.Maybe these economic times require RV parks to let people just live there in their RVs. Every place we have stayed with Permanent residents It’s a little trashy. We won’t be back.
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay! Cabin G was very clean and we loved the kitchen and all of the included appliances (fridge/freezer, toaster, coffee makers [k cup and drip], utensils/cookware, oven, dishrack with sponge & dish soap, wine/drinking glasses and coffee cups. Highly recommend and would stay there again!
Love the redwoods. Sites are tight, beware. Our 29 foot trailer was fun to maneuver, luckily the people on one side helped us. Also, Melanie, maybe work on your customer service conversation abilities. We arrived at 12:45, check in is at 1, I get it. Instead of telling us to go to a rest stop a few miles up the highway, thankfully after you left for lunch, your coworker told us that there was room for us to wait 5 mins in front of the park. Not sure of the reason for the hostility, maybe hangry? Bathrooms were nice. Pretty quiet campground. Probably wont be returning anytime soon.
My husband and I stayed here for our anniversary and couldn’t have had a better time. The location is perfect - only a couple minute drive from beaches and trails. Redwoods were right outside our door, and our cabin was absolutely spotless! Having a working wood stove was a huge bonus and made our experience just that much better. We absolutely cannot wait to return for a longer stay!
We rented a cabin recently and wanted to share a few thoughts on our experience. The grounds were fine and it feels nice that you are in the middle of a redwood Grove. Cabins are packed close together. Our cabin had two water temperatures, hot & scolding hot. Taking a shower was a challenge as was washing your hands. The cabin was very small and the layout wasnt ideal. We had barely enough space for 2 people and one dog. Lots of kids running around screaming. Not their fault but be mindful this is no quiet retreat. We noticed in the RV section that one group of people stayed in front of their RVs drinking Coors Light the entire weekend, like they were recreating a king of the hill scene. If you dont mind loud rednecks slamming cheap beer then this place is for you. We enjoyed the town of Trinidad but I do not believe we would return to stay again.
We were very polite about a problem they caused with our booking. The office staff were unhelpful and rude. They lied to us and separately to friends of ours about two different booking issues. Some of our party ended up sleeping in the floor because they switched our cabin without our permission. The WiFi is weak and patchy, there is NO housekeeping during your stay. It’s cheap, but you can’t guarantee that you’ll get what you paid for.
Great place nearby Redwood NP/State Parks! The place does get muddy when rainy. We stayed in two different RV spots and had a great stay! Nice place to walk around the property in the forest.
Absolutely loved this campground! It was so beautiful and the bathrooms were probably the cleanest Ive ever been to in my 33 years of camping lol! Friendly staff and will definitely be back :)
Loved everything about it, even their small arcade. The store was small but carried essentials. Cabin was small and clean. Although it was small, its perfect for a couples. If it rains, be prepared for mud. Overall, looking forward to visiting again soon. Very much recommended.
Honestly, I did not do much research before booking this place. I was planning a last minute trip to the Redwoods and I found Emerald Forest. I am glad I chose this place!! It was in a cute town that has a population of 311 (according to the sign lol). Everyone was super friendly, close to the beach, and the cabin was perfect for myself, husband, and dog. Highly recommend
Nice RV park with facilities that arent new, but are clean and well maintained. They also have cabins for rent (they seem decent from the outside). The only drawback is that there is some road noise from 101, but it isnt too bad at night. They have some pu through sites as well as some partial hook up sites and some tent/bike sites. Overall a fairly nice setup for a private RV park.
The cabin we stayed in was very cute, it had pretty much everything one could need, including a bottle opener! The toiletries were wonderful smelling, the towels were also nice.Netflix and all the main streaming services were on the tv, the wifi is pretty good.I took one star off because the cabin smelled very strongly of toilet chemicals, there was no paper towel, the Keurig Didn’t work, it was cold and took a long time to heat up and the bed could have been a bit nicer.Over all I would definitely recommend staying here!Overall would definitely recommend
Stayed here in April, 2021. Campground feels like your in the middle of a forest, probably one of the best woodsy campgrounds we’ve stayed at, and the prices weren’t outrageous either. Close to Trinidad and Patrick’s Point (highly recommend), checkout the Lighthouse Grill and the Beachcomber Cafe in town. Trees of Mystery is about 45 min north on the 101 and is great for the kids and adults alike. You’ll really enjoy this spot, it’s awesome!!
Stayed in a cabin with my partner for a quick weekend trip to explore Trinidad and Humboldt County, and this spot was perfect! I found it via Google search and the marketing was good so I was partially prepared for the reality to not live up to the pretty website and photos - but it did! Our cabin was more charming than I expected and literally surrounded by huge redwoods - exactly what I wanted. Enjoyed my coffee on the back patio overlooking more trees, ferns, and a small stream. Nice customer service, good (new Wi-Fiin the cabins. Easy access to town and the trails. I’d stay here again in a heartbeat. I would recommend bringing extra layers for nighttime as even with the heat on, the cabin felt a bit chilly after dark. But this was minor and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
We stayed in one of the cabins for 4 nights and it was absolutely incredible. The cabin comes with anything you may need, ours even came with a Roku TV which was nice for night time. The check in process was so easy and the camp ground is gorgeous and incredibly clean, not to mention Trinidad is the cutest town ever and the beach is literally a 8 minute drive from the cabin.I could not recommend this place enough and I want to get back already.
Beautiful place. Unique setting in a redwood forest. The cabins are cozy, comfortable, clean, well stocked with everything you need for a great stay. Nice little touches with nice toiletries, well equipped kitchen and even wine glasses.Well situated, close to Redwood national and state parks and close to the ocean. Most enjoyable stay.
Awesome cabin nestled in a gorgeous redwood forest. It was so cozy for a visit to the redwoods in February. The kitchen was perfectly stocked with dishes and supplies so we could cook. Trinidad is a cute tiny town and youre only minutes away from a grocery store and a couple restaurants. About 20+ min to the parks. Super convenient! Would highly recommend
The staff was helpful, the location is easy to access, not to mention beautiful. There wasnt anything fancy about the cabins, but they are comfortable. If you come to the area, you should be spending most of your time in the available forests and beaches anyway. I was traveling with my wife and boys and everyone enjoyed the cabin.I will say, both my wife and I could smell cannabis smoke in our cabin, more prominently in the evening. I have nothing against the use, but was put off a bit by the smell, and that is why I am giving 4 stars. I know that this area is a destination for the product, so we accepted it for what it is. Im not sure if the smell was lingering in the bedding and/or mattress, or if a neighbor was smoking. It is hard to fault the Emerald Forest Cabins for this minor issue, but I must be honest. For what it is worth, we had family stay in other units and I didnt hear of the same complaint from anyone else. All in all, I would stay there again.
This is the most beautiful campground we have ever been to! Right in the heart of Redwood trees and 1 minute from the coast. The staff was so friendly and accommodating and the cabin was sparkling clean and very comfortable. The office has a small shop to purchase anything you forgot and they have a fire pit area. My husband and kids were excited to see that they had an arcade with fun games and pinball. They were impressed to see that the arcade was well taken care of and all the games worked well. I would definitely recommend Emerald Forest cabins and we look forward to coming back soon.
The cabins are so cute and comfy! We couldnt believe all the amenities too. Laundry on site, video game building gazebo, tons more.In the cabins they had plates and bowls and wine glasses, they even had a can opener! Very well taken care of, and I cannot wait to come back. Didnt see any sewage..... Smelled great and woodsy. Plus redwoods everywhere. Thank you for a lovely stay :)
