Ellenborough Falls Rd, Elands NSW 2429, Australia, Taree
Ellenborough Falls - Viewpoint in Taree, Australia
Amazing waterfall. Well worth the drive. If youre keen, grab your swimmers and towel, walk to the bottom and have a coooool dip. Drive right into the top of the waterfall, good access to the viewing deck. Small basic cafe on-site. Dont expect a barista style coffee, they have no power so everything is done on gas.
Great waterfall, nice walk to the base to feel the thunder of the spray. Also you have to try the pies from the kiosk. A lovely Swiss lady makes them there daily. The Swiss cheese one is particularly good.
Bit tricky to get to if you dont have a 4WD but still doable. Not sure if the roads have improved since I last visited. The waterfall itself is impressive and there are multiple lookouts and viewpoints.
Absolutely awesome spot to go to. The falls are incredible. Great spot to take kids.If you plan to do the walks remember to take water as there is no drinking water out there.
Epic waterfall. The walk around the top to the knoll is a nice easy walk. The trek down to the waterfall is tough on the way back up with around 500 steps. But worth it at the bottom as the roaring power of the waterfall is quite the experience. Dont count on the kiosk being open though. It wasnt for us despite the sign being out and public holidays...
Great views. The walk down to the bottom is good, the walk back up is a killer but worth every step.
Absolutely beautiful fall. We drove 87 kms just to see the waterfall and guess what it was all worthy. The walk which it said 30 minutes down to the bottom of the falls and 45 minutes to come back up top but it is very inclusive timing. We 34 years old fit couple did it in 10 minutes to go down to the bottom and 15 minutes to get back up where we started. The wooden stairs was cute and tiny in the pretty forest. Its free entry.
The falls were beautiful. Long drive up but worth it. There is a kiosk there that sells coffee and food but bring cash no eftpos only cash or direct transfer. Beautiful walk down to bottom of falls, sturdy steps.
Loved this amazing falls. The drive from the south (Bulga Rdwasn’t so bad. Dirt road and rough but easily handled in the van. Highly recommend heading out, worth the effort. I was the only one there when I arrived!
Spectacular falls, worth the drive !Nice day use area at the top of the fall.
The views of these falls wit the second highest drop in Australia from the top, middle, bottom and the knoll are spectacular when there is plenty of water coming over. The walk to the bottom and back up is strenuous but well worth it.
Amazing Waterfall! There was several ways to see the falls, depending on your level of fitness. The viewing platform at the top is easily accessible and gives an amazing view of the falls & the valley. The walk to the knoll is a fairly easy walk across the rim to the opposite site, with some steps, and lets you view the falls from across the valley. The walk to the bottom of the falls takes you through the rainforest down 641 Steps (and back up ofcourseThe track has been renovated and consists mainly of wooden Steps with sturdy railing. The new from there isjust spectacular! There is also a short walk with about 100 steps to the head of the falls. Defintely worth the drive out!
Awesome waterfall with several viewing platforms for those who cant do the stairs and the more adventurous
Beautiful scenery and so tranquil! We loved it. Bird live was just as great.
It’s called falls thought it’s still falling 😊 Anyways, Ellenborough falls is a placed packed with adventure down the valley. Though you are with friends or family or solo traveler, Ellenborough falls won’t disappoint you for your trip. The best is the staircase way down to the falls and down there when you sit under the fall.
Picturesque views. Serene and beautiful Waterfall. Drive up to the Waterfall is extremely bad for 15-20 kilometres. The walkway down to the falls is narrow but definitely worth it.
Such an amazing experience, there is a total of 1282 stairs to climb (up and downto view the waterfall from the bottom. This may sound daunting however it is well worth the challenge in the end and a great way of exercise.
You probably have already seen similar photos but I guess the more photos there are, the better understanding a reader can achieve of the place that he or she is going to visit. But yeah, you can view this waterfall from four different places - one viewing platform from the side, one near the head of the waterfall, and two other places as you get down to the bottom of the fall. We didn’t have enough time for the latter two but still think it is worth the visit. You probably need a solid hour just for getting down and back up.
Absolutely stunning. Make sure to wear decent footwear as it can be quite slippery.
fantastic spot kiosk toilets and tables there .step walk to bottom of water fall and a slow climb back a good fitness level would be an advantage. road up from Wauchope or Taree are step narrow and rough in places but could be done in a 2wd
Beautiful place a bit of fitness needed to get back up from the walk down to the bottom
Such a beautiful spot to visit in NSW, get out and visit this place, 641 steps down to the bottom of the Falls but well worth the walk. A few other lookouts as well, remember to take some spare cash for the kiosk, no electricity so no eftpos.
Wonderful waterfall that offers multiple vantage points from side, top and bottom. You could easily spend a day here. The walk down to the bottom of the falls is well maintained (moderate difficulty).Depending on where you are coming from there can be multiple sections of unpaved roads to get to the falls. Well worth the drive if you are around the area 🤩
Stunning waterfall with lookouts, bush walks to bottom. Car park is good size but was full when we visited on a public holiday. I recommend the walk to The Knoll which is about 10 mins each way. There are public toilets and a kiosk that is open limited hours. The access road is not paved and some parts are hairy but is driveable in non-4wd.The falls themselves are spectacular and I highly recommend a day trip from the Barrington Coast or mid north coast area.
Beautiful Falls, the walk around to "the knoll" is a great place to get a good view. We travelled out from Port macquarie, the road is dirt and a bit dodgy in places, but well worth the effort to get there.
Lovely place the waterfall is impressive, there is a walk to the bottom of the falls which is full of hidden beauty. There are over 1 thousand steps, you dont need to go to bottom either. The kiosk has home made food almost worth the trip for that open Fri-Sun and school holidays.
Absolutely beautiful place! Very spacious and clean picnic area right near two lookout points. Little kiosk is open to 4 pm and offers home made pies and other pastry. The whole place is dog friendly, so dont be afraid to bring your pooch. Walk to the waterfall (we did only top oneis incredible! The straight view of the waterfall in the end of the walk is just stunning, make sure to bring your good camera. As for the road to the waterfall, it wasnt that bad. Lots of ruts, all land slides are fixed and cleaned out. Beware of the incoming traffic though. A lot of heroes think they are only ones there and drive in the middle of the road at a quite fast speed. Even people with campers! Just take your time and be especially careful at the road turns.
Top attraction. Worth the drive. Plan your trip here as the road in some parts is unsealed. It is, also windy. You need to be able to take your time. There are easy and hard walks here. Parking is right near the falls and good facilities. Allow at least 2hrs to explore and enjoy the views. Remember to have a walk around Wingham on the way.
Fabulous place to visit. Relatively easy place to access. I have a disability, but was able to navigate with support. A few stairs and a narrow path, but definitely worth the effort.
Definitely a special place worth visiting.I had to make use of the five rest benches on my way back up - but as I said its totally worth it.Depending on how strong the flow of water is, the rocks near can be very slippery so I recommend hiking boots and a half decent sense of balance!Enjoy and respect the Biripi peoples lands.
Ive been here multiple times over the years; the most recent of which in early January 2021 after a week of heavy rains. Its been good every time Ive been but my most recent visit is the fullest Ive ever seen the falls to the point where we couldnt reach the bottom pool because of the water spray bouncing back up.Its a continuous walk down along a single file walkway with a few small platforms and seats to stop at to allow people in the other direction to pass. These rest areas are most useful on the long, slow walk back up to take a breather. When the falls arent quite so full with water you can swim in the bottom pool (if you can stomach the cold).
Myself and family visited Ellenborough falls at the beginning of January 2021 and it was a fantastic experience. This water fall is one of the biggest and had the strongest flow out of any i had previously visited through traveling Australia. The walk down and back up is a little bit of a workout as it’s probably 1000 steps rerun but is totally worth it .This walk is mostly board walk and has plenty of places to view from on the decent. If you don’t want to walk to the bottom the falls has to upper view points,One from the top of the falls and one viewpoint from the side which are pretty much just off car park .The other unique thing about this falls is it has its own cafe reminded me of Lichfield National park in the NT .
It was fun driving up to the falls. Id you love driving on dirt road and have a car for it then you should give this place a go. It took me about an hour and a bit to get there. You can probably make it there quicker but I did enjoy looking at the view as I go. You can hear the fall as you parking and a few step from there and you can see it. There are timber stairs, partially rocky sort of steps, down half way to the drop, you can see the fall on your way down, 500-700 m. I think, there s another way up but due to fallen tree, the track closed when we were there. Its worth a walk down but make sure you coat yourself in mozzy spray. There is a kiosk that made really nice pie. You can also get drinks and ice block from them.
Absolutely amazing... One of the best natural water forms in Australia during the rains. The nearby cafe also serves delicious hot food and desserts.
Amazing waterfall just near the carpark. Due to generous rains in the past few months, the waterfall was spectacular to see. The lookout is located just at the carpark and you can go for a hike with some 164 steps into the amazing fern track to see the waterfall from the front. The drive was wonderful with some amazing views in between. Be mindful of the gravel road which starts around 8-10 km before the car park.
With at least 5 different vantage points the views were incredible. Bbq facilities plus toilets make it a good family spot. But the trails require supervision for kids. Worth the effort but watch for slippery surfaces and broken ground.
What a spectacular site this is. One of the largest falls in the southern hemisphere. Took a walk down the 641 steps to the bottom of the falls. Coming back up was a bit strenuous but only took 30 minutes to get back to the carpark. Well worth doing the walks.
This is in major drought 2020, but well worth the drive when in full flow, mostly tar via Wingham 10 Kmts dirt, 14 Kmts dirt from Comboyne, kiosk, parking.
Rough ride in on a dirt road with switchbacks and a cliff on one side. But beautiful views every step of the way. Then you get to the falls. Its a hike down a cliff basically. There are stairs but by the time you reach bottom your legs are quivering. Its tougher on the way back up. Your calves will ache for a couple of days. And its worth every ache. It is so beautiful. And because of the difficulty getting there, very few people there. Absolutely gorgeous and highly recommended trip.
If you are into walking then this is a must.Toilets and BBQ facilities, e.g wood fire BBQs, bring your own wood.Check out the viewing platform from the top and the Knoll 700 meters and 640 odd steps to the bottom. The last 25km in was a dirt road in good conditions for all vehicles however you could get a large caravan or bus through, it might be tight when meeting on coming traffic.
A great place to visit a real sight to see.. and get a workout at the same time..There are plenty of stairsThere are toilets and a well stocked kiosk..A few good lookout points and optional walks. We had to carry the little fella a few times..
Gorgeous, huge fall and swimming hole down the bottom.Well serviced.Theres a food kiosk here with good filter coffee and hand pressed espresso. Kiosk also has delicious pastries / cake.Cash only.Has toilet facilities.
Longest falling waterfalls on Southern Hemisphere... best is to experience from the bottom... takes about 45mins each way and about 500-600 steps but the best experience.
Best waterfall in Australia! Snuck up here for a quick look after all the fantastic rain. The staircase to the bottom is a must do, was a bit slippery because of the rain. Good exercise on the way back up. Recommended taking a drink and plenty of breaks if your not an athlete!Small kiosk nearby open for snacks and refreshments
Beautiful place to visit and explore. A range of different tracks and walks to suit everyone with a reward around every corner. They even have a cafe in the car park with gone made pies and treats! Toilets, lunch tables and open fire pits... Wonderful!
A bit of a drive to get to but is well worth a visit if youre already in Port Macquarie or Wingham. Theres modern toilet facilities and also a kiosk at the top of the falls which is open from 10am on the weekends. A lookout next to the carpark and another on the opposite side of the valley with an even greater view! The walk down to the bottom and back is intense, not for the unfit.
A must see waterfall if you are passing this area. It is a very big fall, the walk to the foot of fall is relatively easy, if you can fit the track then you will make it down and back up. There is a shop at the carpark that sells some food and drinks. There is a public toilet and picnic tables too.
The walk to the bottom of the waterfall is narrow and steep but totally worth it. A beautiful spot to have a picnic. Theres also a little kiosk for a refreshing bite or drink if you forgot to bring your own.
Great waterfall with a breathtaking drop. Take care on the walking trails though they are quite slippery. Multiple lookouts with different degrees of difficulty to get to them.
Simply Amazing with so many great spots to see the gigantic water falls. The walk down the stairs can be a bit hard for kids.
