Elies Restaurant - Restaurant in Sparta, Greece
Now good value in an over expensive resort.
Just Wow! Fantastic Location, Very capable friendly and helpful staff, Beautiful Food of the highest Quality. You can really taste the great fresh produce. All food is wonderfully prepared and cooked to perfection, without it being too fancy. Very generous portions. We had some food left over and the lovely helpful waitress provided us with a container to take home. We had a wonderful afternoon at this restaurant. Can highly recommend.
Great place to have lunch. Lovely setting and just across the road from the beach
Great quality, big portions, and fair prices in an pretty olive grove!
Nice food, a bit high prices, but excellent service and place.
I highly recommend this place. Five stars is the least that I can put. The location is beautiful with the olive trees providing shade and the sea just across the road. The service was excellent and very accommodating, I asked for a main that was not on menu and the waitress was happy to do so. The ingredients all nice and fresh and the beef was so nicely cooked. The kokinisto was perfect with a nice balance of spices and not heavy at all. Good prices as well.
A good restaurant with a pleasing balance of food quality and price.Had a very good mixed shared staters and then big pork chops Good location in olive grove and quick service.A mile long hike,on the flat, next to the sea from village.
Very tasty traditional greek food with very good prices
Delicious fresh food with friendly attentive service at a reasonable cost, in a beautiful location. Cant really ask for more.
Perfect combination of traditional greek dishes and amazing location!
Great place , beautiful garden by the sea. Very helpful staff . Ask for todays specials.
I visited the restaurant last weekend due to its high rating but I couldnt put more than 2 stars. The location is very hard to access, in a narrow seaside road where cars come in both directions and cars parked on both sides of the street. To the positive, the restaurant had a parking and we avoided the extra effort to try to find somewhere to park. The food is definitely not 4.5stars, with average size dishes and average quality. Maybe for tourist who want to try Greek cosine its ok, but for a Greek, is just average, something that can cook by himself at home. Prices near to average price for the size and quality. On the negatives I would put the bread quality which was hard and tasteless and most of the tables are on a sandy surface in a windy place.....Most possible the rating comes from foreign tourists who just enjoy the sea and a cooked food, for a Greek is just an common seaside restaurant.
The food is tasty, and they have a good variety of dishes with meat, seafood and fish. The place is nice, underneath olive trees and close to the beach. In summer, before sunset, there are quite a lot of wasps, but the waiters can bring you a bowl of burning greek coffee that scares the bees away.
My family and I stayed here eight years ago and had dinner at the restaurant at least twice. We had a wonderful experience then and we were excited to revisit when we came to Greece with friends this summer. We arrived on time for 9:00 pm reservations and were directed to a table for six that only had five chairs. Not a big deal but it was a sign of things to come.A server helped us get another chair then dropped three menus on the table. We tried to get a staff member’s attention (there were three chatting by the reception areaand one of the servers held up his hand to motion us to wait. They continued their conversation and the person who signaled us disappeared. I went up to the station and asked for more menus and was met with a surly “how many do you need”? He handed me three more menus with no apology and did not offer to bring them to our table.A waitress came to take our order and was unbelievably unprofessional. I was the only Greek-speaking person at the table yet she remained at the far end of the table even when it was apparent I could not hear what she was saying. She offered no assistance with respect to the size of the portions or any other information we asked as we tried to decide on what to order. Finally we placed our order and also ordered a bottle of wine. The appetizers were fine, nothing special but okay. By the time they cleared the table to bring the main dishes, we’d finished the wine and ordered another along with an order of potatoes. Two of us ordered the whole fish and it was prepared well and was tasty. The rest was mediocre. Not particularly bad but certainly not on the level expected given the prices. One of the dishes, a pasta dish, was prepared with a fish sauce that was not mentioned in the menu nor by server. The second bottle of wine never arrived and neither did the potatoes and no one came to check and see if we needed anything or if the food was to our liking. Meanwhile, the table next to us had a server checking on them on a regular basis and it was clear they were also receiving dishes that were not on the menu which were never mentioned to us. The restaurant was not at all busy and we observed the wait staff chatting with one another and basically hanging out. Finally, we got someone’s attention to get the check. When it arrived I told the server (a different one yet againthat we never received the second bottle of wine. He replied “we didn’t charge you for it”. Not even a tiny apology for totally forgetting and ignoring us. I then told him we’d also ordered a plate of potatoes. Same response: “we didn’t charge you for it”. He was absolutely impatient and seemed annoyed. Finally, I couldn’t stand it and I asked him if there was a reason the staff was treating us so badly. He said “I don’t know what you’re talking about”. So I reiterated all of the above to which he said I was being unreasonable. To the issue about the menus, he said “we gave them to you didn’t we”? I replied that it is not my job to tend to our table, it is the staff’s. He basically scoffed at me. I told him he and the entire staff should be ashamed of themselves and, as a Greek woman who takes pride in my fellow countrymen’s reputation for excellent hospitality, I was appalled at the entire staff’s behavior.I truly can’t fathom what could’ve been the reason for such awful service. As I mentioned, the restaurant was not at all busy and they even seemed over staffed. In any case, I advise you to proceed with caution and, frankly, there are so many wonderful restaurants in the area with terrific food and service (and lower pricesthere’s no reason to take a chance with these folks.
Superb restaurant, excellent service, delicious greek food to die for in a pittoresque location near the sea. If you are in the area, make sure its added in your itinirary!
Excellent food fairly priced and with good portions
A pleasant Taverna located at the end of Karimili beach. The food was very nice although the service was somewhat patchy and the bill was pricey. The main issue here is the number of wasps you have around and it has been really off putting. The waiting staff put out some sort of smokers as repellent but it doesnt do a great deal, except smoking customers, so a bit of a disappointment really. In contrast, the beach nearby is lovely 😍
Very nice place with great food and very polite staff. Excellent choice all - day long.
If you are looking to rest on a sunbed near a pristine sea forget it because the first two rows are "reserved" to the guests of the nearby hotel... Talking about first and second class guests.
Beautiful garden, great service and amazing food! Meatballs in tomato sauce, aubergine, green bean salad etc plus all the desserts 👌
Good food, but their policy on sunbeds are strange, half of the sunbeds are reserved and empty, just in case some resident may turn up, they may and probably will remain empty all day but they dont care, and if you find an unreserved bed empty you pay weather you are eating there or not. So for this reason we will never use this resteraunt again, a little different from 3 weeks ago where we were welcomed with open arms.
We came all the way from Kalamata to eat here but the place did not was at our expectations. Disappointing food, the dishes were too expensive for what they were and the service was so so.
Everything we had was delicious. Salads, main courses all very good. Highly recommended. Staff was very polite too.
Fantastic lunch under the olive groves by the beach. Could not find a more idyllic setting. Delicious food - definitely get the beet salad and chicken cooked with lemon. Moussaka was out of this world. Great staff as well.
This place is popular with locals and tourists. It can be a bit of a wait, but the garden setting is fantastic. Traditional, fresh dishes. If you like lemonade, try the "Fresh lemon juice" - its lemon juice, water, sugar, and sparkling water.
Beautiful setting , excellent service and amazing food. What more do you want? Thank you to all the staff.
Excellent food! Exceptional staff. Tiropita from Mani and moussaka are musts! Same with dessert. Katidopita and galatopita! Will be back!!!
Set back in an olive grove just behind a gorgeous beach, Elies remains a magical spot whose owner is a consummate host. Spacious and very well equipped and furnished rooms, those on the upper floor with spectacular views over the olive trees to a wonderful bay. Delicious breakfasts and lunches at tables set amongst the olive trees. Charming and low key, this is good as Greek hospitality can be.
The location is cozy and away from other establishments. has a way out to the beach. Quite large portions, friendly staff. Recommended
Fantastic experience under the olive trees with the sound of the sea. Good kitchen reasonable prices. A must
Cute, comfortable outside seating area among olive trees, some tables have limited beach views. Mousakka was very large, delicious and great value at 10€. Lamb with Lemon Sauce had no lemon flavor at all but was still tasty... came with choice of Spaghetti or Fries... chose Spaghetti and it was a huge portion. We also ordered the mixed appetizer and it was great but with our huge main meals, was too much food. Great experience!
Probably the best taverna in the region. The location is excellent, next to the beach on a large olive orchid. there are plenty of tables, I think it can accommodate about 80 people with plenty of distancing, still almost always full:decent prices and large portions, fries 3.9, tzatziki 3.9, sardines 9, assortment of starters 8, house wine 500 ml 4, lemonade 2. sunset is priceless here:)
Old school taverna in a shady olive tree groove. Simple & traditional menu of local dishes of excellent quality. Instant classic.
Elies Restaurant offers a great outdoor area under olive trees to enjoy your meal. Very friendly staff will serve you and the food itself isoutstanding! Dont miss out the vegeterian mousaka! (photo below)! Very good value fro money!
Beautiful location nestled within an olive grove. Great traditional Greek dishes with a twist. A must visit.
Nice restaurant in good location, right in front of the sea (with no view). The service was very fast, once you order the food pretty much fly to your table. The good is also good, however I have only tried some of the mezedes.
The restaurant is part of the hotel with the same name and they have beds on the beach, in front of the restaurant. The restaurant is hidden under the olive trees giving beautiful shadow. The service is excellent and quick. The food is excellent - nothing more, nothing less!!!Highly recommended!
Very good restaurant with fast and professional service. We have been there at noon. Very cozy sitting in between olive trees. we had lamb from the oven with lemon sauce and moussaka. Fair pricing.
Finally a Greek restaurant that is based on excellent quality products and cooked with meraki. The waiters always eager to help running through the olive tree.Early meal, after the ⛱ before sunset or late evening phone ahead if you are a large crowd and you will be sorted.
The best Greek food - not just in the area. Excellent service, friendly atmosphere, lovely and spacious yard and very reasonably priced. The houses/rooms available are also fabulous. Highly recommended.
Good choice for lunch or dinner. Typical Greek taverna food, very tasty, good size portions, and prices are reasonable. Not the cheapest but not pricey either. Had two good meals here. Try the eggplant dip starter - really good.
August 2020: The best food in Mani as always. We have been visiting this great restaurant for many years and the high quality of the food and the service remains the same. Regarding the COVID-19 safety measures they were absolutely respected by the personnel of the restaurant. Maybe the best in Mani related to the implementation of the safety measures. Great experience once again!
Wow! What a fabulous place. Shady table under the olive trees. Exceptional choice for vegetarians and vegans (e.g. very hearty Greek salad without feta). Wine list and good table wine by the half litre. Charming staff. Pebble’s throw from excellent beach near Kardamyli.
Nice restaurant with seaview and surrounded with olive trees. Nice coffee but the food needs improvement. I ordered a beef burger but it was hard as stone. It was either cooked from frozen or was put in the grill twice. The waitress was very kind though and I got it replaced with something else.
Excellent yard and ambient. Tasty local cuisine served properly by a well trained staff, who respected social distancing and protection measures of covid-19. What needs improvement is dealing with the swarm of wasps that were all over the place.
This is an ideal place if you are on vacation with your kids. The restaurant is large enough not to feel crowded, and set underneath beautiful olive trees. The menu is of very good quality and very consistent. Some nice greek wines by the glass (which is a rare find in the area). Very reasonably priced and with a truly exceptional service. Highly recommended!
Really great homemade food. Helped with kids as we avoided having pasta every single day of our vacations. Service at the beach was great too, we enjoyed very much peach daquiris and fresh watermelon. Friendly staff.
A place with good food and very nice service. A little crowded, but situated in a nice scenery, surrounded by olive trees. The meals are big and tasty, weve eaten variety of starters and sardines and shrimps, everything was fresh and good.
The last time I visited Elies restaurant was 8 years ago. It was excellent then, it still is today! We had a lovely meal! Delicious Mediterranean dishes and beautiful olive tree garden. Service gets top marks also!
Great restaurant by the sea, I loved the olive tree garden. We ordered some appetizers that were good, but it was the braised lamp with the lemon sauce that was exceptional. Great place to taste greek traditional cuisine.
