Elephant Garden - Restaurant in Puerto Escondido, Mexico
Might have caught a bad day but neither the Pork “stew” tacos nor the Crazy Horchata was much to write home about (pretty bland, even with two sauces on topand the service was friendly but very slow, even though there weren’t many people there with me.On the upside: the little garden seating area is very nice and calming!
Lovely place to hang out, friendly staff. Especially enjoy the Pretty Goat Omelette with a green juice and mango kefir. The home made GF breads and carrot cake are great as well.
Sweet spot with a nice garden vibe, down an alley away from (but nearthe beach in Zicatela. The pork stew was pretty fabulous (more like roasted pork no sauce, served with blue corn tortillas)Tip: you may need to wait a bit for outside seating- be clear if this is what you want as I side spots will free up sooner.
The atmosphere is really cute and the staff is really nice. We arrived at 13.20 and were still able to get food, which we really appreciated. They have a lot of nice smoothies but sadly I thought the vegan options for food were limited. The 100 MX bagel we got ended up being a lot less than we hoped for, the taste was yummy but there just wasnt a lot. Not sure if I would recommend going here if it’s not close by.
If you plan to go to Puerto Escondido it is a must to visit this place. Let me tell you that they have the most creative kitchen in this town. They make you feel like you are in paradise. Also the garden where you will have your food looks like you are in the middle of a jungle. The only thing is that you should go there early because sometimes its so full that you have to wait some time to get in and enjoy your food.
Nice hidden spot by the Zicatela beach, excellent service, unique food dishes, prime restaurant, you cannot miss visiting this five-star restaurant. Everything on the menú is made from scratch it certainly worth the wait.
Beautiful breakfast, coffee and juices. Came here on the off chance without a booking and they managed to fit me in no problem. There was so many options it was hard to choose but the french toast bagels were amazing
Elephant Garden is a very cute cafe with lots of breakfast options. I had the bagel with egg and cheese along with a green tea. Cost 110 pesos. The bagel was very big and tasted homemade / very freshly baked. There was a live band that played which I absolutely loved
Sad to say this, but they’ve changed a lot, and not for the better. The juices are still good. The back yard is still calm and fresh. But the menu has changed (they don’t seem to have the same bacon - just sweet and sour bacon pieces?), and the level of cooking has changed. I ordered the Milpero (one of my favorite thingsand it was absolute mush. No crisp. Just soggy mush. The guacamole was browning. The lettuce had grit in it. I couldn’t, and didn’t, eat it. Such a bummer. I hope it changes.
BEST place.so far! A culinary experience! The bagels w BACON thick and juicy, WOW! The smoothie drinks were incredible! Professional service all while sitting in a beautiful outside garden. We saw butterfly 🦋 and hummingbird and iguana.
Delicious and healthy meals each and every time! Pictured below is the fruit bowl and carrot cake- yum!
Really nice breakfast place, I came here nearly every morning for brunch
Delicious. Good prices. Tasty.Try the dama or Pomodoro bagel.
Exceptional hidden treasure in Zicatela, a healthy and delicious breakfast spot in a garden with occasional mini concerts of live music and authentic Oaxacan desayunos that feel gourmet and upscale. Make sure you try the “Milpero” a green tomato breaded with rice flour and amaranth, served with guacamole, poached eggs and flowers. A true gem, enriched by music, local art, and artisanal merchandise.
One of my favourite breakfast spots in the area. Goat cheese omelette was delicious. Menu is extensive. The vibe is nice.
Such delicious Brunch, we ate here both days during our stay, and were going back to Puerto Escondido just to return once sgain to Elephant Garden. My kids dream about it!
If youre a little hippie on the inside youll love this restaurant. Very unique restaurant hidden up side street that has you walk through a shop/ kitchen on the inside the building to outdoor seating surrounded by bamboo and a couple chickens. The food was clean and healthy! We ordered a Banana Manzana bowl, two bagels, and a Mango Lassi. Would definitely return again next time we fly into PXM!
Hands down the best breakfast/brunch spot in Zicatela. The service is always fantastic also! It does get busy at times which means you may have to wait for a table, but you can reserve in advance via whatsapp.
The food was good but not mind blowing!
Very tasty dishes! The bagels with pesto sauce and avocado were exquisiteMake sure to reserve before going there!
this is time wife - It is a new intention of mine to share really amazing experiences on reviews to outweigh all of the negative in the internet world! Elephant Garden was the BEST food that I ate in Puerto. Our host recommended it and said “if there’s a wait, it’s worth it” - the atmosphere, the smell of fresh fruit and juice, and the food. Really looking forward to going back one more time for breakfast before we leave town.
Amazing staff and the food OMG! 10/10
The place is nice and cute but the food wasn’t as good as we read on the google reviews. I think they forgot our order because we waited 30-40min for two bagels… They didn’t really apologised or said why it took so long. Juices were very good though!
Look at this mokaccino with carmelized cacao nibs...so decadent and delicious. I ended up buying more from the little shop. The avocado bagel was also very nice and I was able to customize it with a poached egg and this amazing carmelized pork belly. Salad and dressing was also good and you can order a half size if you want it as a side dish. Lastly, very friendly service and a cute courtyard. A+
In Puerto Escondido, this place tops the brunch game. You know it too with the wait to even just get in. Get the banana bread! It doesn’t disappoint
Super super yummy! The bagels were my favorite, i ordered the mr egg with extra guacamole which was a really good choice so far my favorite on the menu and i have tried quite a few bagels there! The coffe is also very delicous, go for the iced coconut latte if you want to try something new :)
Wish I could give it more stars. I went here 3 times.in a week. Everything is outstanding. The place, the vibe, the food, the drinks, the staff, the service. Why cant there be more places to eat like this in the world?
Really cute place with a lot of outdoor seating. We had the frances bagel (French toast style bagel with fruitand the goats cheese bagel with iced mokas.Really good vegan and milk alternative options with vegan banana and carrot cake options too.More expensive than other places that are around but you can kind of see why - all cooked fresh and hot, all milk alternatives are self made etc.Not 5 stars as flavours were pretty forgettable but overall did the job
This place is like a 5 star oasis, tucked away just a block from the beach.Friendly staff, incredible food and delicious drinks. The menu is really well thought out and the chefs deliver on the promise.
Great vegan options. Great banana bread.Clean food. Super cute seating.Always with a line to wait though. And their smoothie section is pretty weak. But I still return quite a lot.
I looked up a bunch of breakfast spots in Puerto Escondido and I was so excited to come here. My friend and I saw a sign to be added to the waitlist so we enquired with the host but was met with the most rude and dismissive person. She said it was full for reservations (fair enough we didn’t know reservations were possibleand the waitlist was full. All understandable. But the way she spoke to us was so disrespectful. I also asked if I may have a “to go” coffee and she said “it was not possible” meanwhile there were SO MANY to go coffees around me. Not worth it going here.EDIT AFTER OWNERS RESPONSE:My review is not about “expectations not being met” it is about how terrible your staff treats customers. Being full and needing a reservation is completely fine but the way your host treats people is not ok. See the several other reviews that say the exact same thing. As a owner you’ve completely skipped the real issue on your response and took no responsibility, which is another red flag to not go here.
Ordered a vegetarian dish and was served the pork omlette. The Mexican omlette had nothing Mexican about it and a few drops of salsa at best, veggies werent cooked with the omlette and was flavorless. Had a bite and told them I didnt like it but they tried to charge me for it anyways and then proceeded to question my taste. They have some good juices but terrible customer service
Absolutely amazing spot to grab a coffee and jugo. Went twice and got both times the coffee frio with coco milk and jugo verde. Both times a 10/10, served with a smile. Also I can recommend the freshly made carrot cake. Only thing is make sure that you don’t come too late, because otherwise there will be a que.
Really good coffee, nice breakfast. Slightly more yoghurt could be served with the museli but I’m sure if you asked they would provide more. Very friendly staff, and very helpful.
I really dont think there is any place better to get breakfast or brunch! There is something for everyone on the menu. The food was excellent, service superb, fairly priced.. I admired the whole concept! If we found out about it earlier we would have had breakfast here every morning that we were in Puerto Escondido! (spent 2 weeks in Puerto and we only discovered it 3 days before we left so were only able to eat there 3 times :/). However it seems somewhat popular so there were times we had to wait to be seated but one can make a table reservation.
Very cozy, welcoming and warm restaurant its like a hidden gem in Puerto Escondido. Lots of vegan options, dishes are prepared and served with Lots of love and care. Thoroughly loved and enjoyed the Mango Bowl. I even asked them to give me an item from 1 dish and another item from other dish and they gladly customized my order. Cant praise enough just can say that very content with the whole experience. Keep up the good work. Only drawback is this restaurant doesnt open in the evening.
Unbelievable! Amazing Vegan food.Ariadna was our server and she can speak english. She was very friendly and nice. Great ambiance and very delicious and very healthy Vegan food. We also had two artist visit us and sing while we were eating. Awesome experience
Excelent place for breakfast or brunch, it has vegan options and with meat. Pet friendly and my chihuahua was very happy. Good coffee:)
Cozy place, tasty food and good prices. Sometimes a bit slow for service because it can get busy so go there with patience and no rush. Enjoy your breakfast which you will like a lot. Great organic products for sale as well.
Five out of five.Great place, great vegan food, great service. You will enjoy!
High vibe, healthy, fresh, beautiful and so delicious. Really enjoyed my experience here; planning to return tomorrow!
Very good breakfast place with decent prices. The wait is usually a little longer to get a table so get there on time.
I just wanted to stay one day more in puerto to beakfast again in this place! Very delicious! And no sugar added.
We love Elephant! Found it took weeks ago been 4 times, and brought guests. It’s a must in town. Fresh, tasty, generous portions, friendly and attentive staff. See you tomorrow 😜Ps. Nice store in the front
The food was so good, so fresh, and very tasty. The server was very nice, and patient with my Spanish. And the ambiance was nice too. Overall, yes definitely eat here!
A total gem. Delicious breakfasts and coffee drinks in a charming garden. No views of the beach here, but you won’t miss them as soon as you try the food.
The Elephant Garden is a great place to find some healthy options in town that you might typically find in popular cafes and restaurants in North America. They feature a diverse array of food and drinks for reasonable prices. The restaurant is behind the storefront (coffee, health bars, candles, soaps, etc.on a titled backyard patio surrounded by trees and vines (very isolating from the bustling streets in town). The service was super friendly and quick, and there were not too many other customers. Would recommend!
Awesome place with excellent prices and great food. Must try the smoothies and juices. Highly recommended for anyone at Puerto Escondido to try. Get energized with a good combo of breakfast or lunch.
My favorite breakfast spot in Puerto. Coffees and juices are delicious. I have had the quinoa bowl, bacon & Gouda omelette and the fried green tomatoes topped with guacamole, poached eggs and alfalfa sprouts. All great ways to start your day.
The food is absolutely top notch! Large portions and quality produce. Coffee is fantastic too and they make thier own almond milk!
