Elephant Breeding Center in Birganj

Very nice place where humans are inside a compound and elephants are outside. Good effort for breeding and increasing the elephant population. Unfortunately all the elephants are trained for patrolling with the army instead of being released in the wild. Which is important for keeping poachers in check as well as traversing the deep wildlands without disturbing the ecosystem (instead of vehicles).

I really wish they didnt chain up the elephants. I know they graze them during the day but given all the wide amount of spaces around it seems that they could have something better. Hopefully they will do in the future.

Very sad to see all elephants on very short chains. Some even had their front two legs chained together so they couldn’t move. The center also had an informational board about tools used on “working” elephants. These elephants are in captivity. This is not an elephant rehabilitation center, as advertised and mentioned to us when booking our chitwan trip. We really are saddened that we have money to the operation and didn’t ask more questions before coming here.

Such a cute Elephant cubs and such a serene environment, excellent place for the peace of mind but not well advertised, i dont know why.

Oh my God ....Just loved the way it has segregated sections of mother elephants and their calf.A view that eyes really love to beholdCan be visited by all aged .... if they are comfortable in walking .Jeeps also take you to that breeding hub .Horse carts , bicycle an be taken on rent .Such lovely sight to see babies enjoy watching them .Tooooooo goood

The Elephant Breeding Center is a great place to go to see elephants up close. The staff is very knowledgeable and passionate about their work. I highly recommend this place to anyone interested in learning more about these amazing animals.

Terrible to see, DO NOT support this Business.adult elephants chained to a pole for most of the day. 2 times a day they can go for water with their mahoot(rider). I know they wont survive in the wild but a big cage where they can roam free in and get in contact with eachother would be a better solution.This is the gouvernement of Nepal, the animals suffer, money doesnt go to the people and they get rich and stay in power.

Well maintained and a lot of healthy animals. If you’re lucky you’ll get to see the wild elephants roaming around to mate or steal their food😂. The scene where the animals go to bathe with their mahouts in the pool is just exceptional.

Visiting the breeding centre made me feel for the animals and elephants in particular..... A wild elephant visiting the centre was very emotional and surprising, was lucky to be allowed to feed bananas to the elephants.

Able to see elephants and learn more about them. It was saddening to see them in chains. However, I was told that they would take the elephants to the wild for few hours everyday. These elephants are not used for safaris, but for rescue of other injured animals or people in the jungle. Visiting elephant breeding centre gave me mixed feelings as I love elephants and I was able to see them at the same time painful to see them in chains.

I just want to vomit.. how can you treat animals like that?? They are all chained with no space to move at all, obviously miserable and sad.This is just another money making machine to attract tourists who think they might help the elephant but this is real hell on earth for them.Just dont go there.

It is very much a place that the name suggests. You can see elephants and their babies. When in Sauraha, youd already have seen a lot of elephants. Well, here, you can see the little ones playing around with each other. If you have a kid, this place is a must go. Theyll enjoy. My 2 year old just didnt want to leave.

You can see bunch of elephants and their kids. Nothing much but is a pleasant and peaceful place. I did take a short walk in the jungle, so reaching the breeding center was somewhat of a relief.The entry fee is 50 rupee for Nepalese citizen. They claim that the fee is used for the welfare of the elephants.

Great place to see Elephants in their natural habitat.. if you are lucky you may get to play with some of the baby elephants.

It is a very suitable place for elephants for breeding and training. All facilities available here for an elephant in their natural surroundings. You can visit here with ticket ₹50. You will here many baby elephant too. Must visit. I visited this place with my Nepalese frnd Bal Bahadur K.C.

Elephants are well kept and bred here with care. The area is open for view from a far. Sometimes baby elephants come accross the area to interact with humans. The area is fenced with electric wire which transmits current during night times. On the way to EBC, if youre lucky, rhinos and deers may be seen grazing.

Very sad to see the elephants in chains. They can barely move. Ive also seen one guy hit one elephant.The baby elephants are super cute and are the only ones who can roam freely in their fenced spacesBetter go to Stand Up 4 elephants on the other side of town

Baby elephants are adorable and cute. Not much of a place to visit, but they charge Rs.50, which i think is expensive compared to the amount they charge you to enter the compound. Well a perfect place to witness sunset though.

Very cute little elephants roaming free is the best view. Lots of elephants here. This place has upgraded since the last time with a huge bridge thats just across the river which else had to be crossed on a canoe made of tree hollowed out. Its a nice place to meet nature but. Its a breeding and training center for elephants.

You won’t get this kind of experience any where you can be blessed with ELEPHANT(God Ganeshfull of nature and nautral wildlife great place to visit.10/10

You have to pay NRs 50 for ticket to entry. You can observe mother elephants and child elephants. There is a adult elephants skull too.Since this is breeding center, dont expect too much as a visitor. If this is your first time then you will enjoy it.

Best attraction in Sauraha.Here the elephant comes after 3 pm in the afternoon since in the daytime they go for the jungle safaris.Here you will get to see small baby elephant too.I was lucky enough that in my visit I got to see wild elephant , wild boar , deer and wild hens around that place.

If you wants to know about elephants breeding center tgis place must be best place. There was 10 mother and 10 baby elebphant 2021 oct. Around 37 people working inside center run by Nepal government.

Its very sad to see these baby Elephants being chained like this. Hope the government of Nepal leave these wild animals live freely in the jungle.

A place you shouldnt miss out when you are in and around Chitwan National Park. A place where we can see elephants upclose. The breeding center has numerous female elephants and young calves. The environment is just amazing. And you can see other animals mainly deers, peafowls and jungle fowls.

We can see breeding of elephants in elephant breeding system. There are more than 20 elephants in breeding center. We can see different internal parts of elephants. And can get may information about elephants.

Elephant Breeding Center was established in 2044 BS with 6 male and 14 female elephants. Among 20 elephants, 16 was brought from India, 2 from Thailand and 2 elephants were received as a gift from Myanmar. Till the date of 2072 BS, the number of elephants is 51 which includes baby elephants too

Elephant breeding centre is just awesome. A lot of elephant and babies.They were chained and looking sad so i asked the officer whether they take them to jungle or not and he told they take them to jungle after lunch and i was happy to hear that. At all its a awesome place must go once.

I found it very much Interesting .There are about 10 to 12 elephants .I highly suggest you to visit the place in the evening because the wild animals came near it and you could take some wonderful shots..

After the jungle safari one can visit the Elephant Breeding Centre in Chitwan. It is about three kilometres from the market . We can reach the Centre by walking on a small mad made bridge which is a beautiful setting. On the way we also saw deer’s roaming around.In the elephant breeding centre there are many baby elephants starting with a fifteen day old baby. Some enclosures have complete elephant families comprising of father , mother and two baby elephants. We can watch the Center employees feeding the elephants and just watch the elephants doing their activities for some time. It is specially a good place for kids and nature enthusiasts.

The breeding center seems to have a very well rounded approach to the elephants. Visiting is limited to several hours in the morning and the afternoon, before and after which the elephants are free in the jungle with their handlers. The handlers seem dedicated and humane and many live on-site with the elephants.For kids this is a nice place to pass some time. This visit is generally tagged with a canoe ride in Rapti river. Taken together it was a very relaxing and delightful short afternoon trip.

Nice group of elephants at the elephant breeding center. They had lots of baby and mommy elephants. The entry fee is RS 30. Clean place lots of elephants and toilets at the entrance. They are open in the morning from 6 to 12 and evening after 3 untill sunsets.

Wonderful place where you can see all kinds of elephants. Just born to adult. The details of each elephant is displayed on the board. All are trained and friendly with Humans. You can enjoy with little ones, and I will never forget my visit to this place. Those interested can have an elephant shower also. Dont forget to take your children to this place. They will enjoy.

Amazing place. The local authorities shares lot of information regarding elephants and people around. One elephant eats around 200kg of grass and 20kg of Elephant sandwich ie. Roll of Grass and paddy with sugar and salt.

This is a government institution established to preserve and breed the Asian element species. This place has a well reputation in achieving its goals. However, from a general observation, the setting and facilities for the elephant breeding needs to be improved.

I liked this place of how they are contributing to the national park by breeding elephants and also helping bring up the young ones. The place could be better managed as it has ample amount of space for new ideas. Only three stars because somehow the elephant could be kept in better facilities and without the chains(just an assumption). But being a Nepali and having seen this breeding center long time back, it has made some changes like adding the roofs. As seen today and as I have understood, the the ticket counter collects good amount of collection everyday and hope thst collection is spent in the betterment of elephants quickly. Please get them out of chains, rest all is good.

The place so amazing. You get to this place by canoe riding and amidst all the serene jungle. It has a small mueseum and elephants who are been looked after by Govt. to breed and conserve their species. There is an entry ticket as well. The area falls in under Chitwan National Park only and this excursion is mostly included in Safari packages.
