Eladio's Chocolate Adventure - Tourist attraction in Livingston, Guatemala
The tour personnel is very friendly!
I did the chocolate demonstration. It was really nice to see how they make the chocolate drink. The people around the place were kind. The demonstration was very short though and besides the chocolate drink, anything left over you couldnt bring. $40 BLZ I found to be too expensive for what was offered.
We visited Eladios cacao farm (then called Agouti Cacao Farmnearly 10 years ago, and it remains one of the travel highlights of my life. Eladio showed us his incredible permaculture farm, highlighted local species both for beauty, for function, and for food, and pulled down fruit after fruit from this tree and that, offering all for taste. Ill never forget the flavor of the fresh soursop. He served us his cacao wine hed been fermenting for years, and later introduced us to his family, who showed us some of the steps of cacao production and brewed up some hot chocolate from the farms beans. An unforgettable experience.
Good
Such a cool place. Eladio is a true legend, and everyone there was incredibly friendly.
Absolutely recommend visiting this family farm. We took the tour that started with the traditional chicken caldo (soupand homemade corn tortillas. Delicious!Next was the chocolate demo that demonstrated the chocolate-making process from extracting the cacao seeds from the pods to the final chocolate product. We got to sample a batch of freshly made hot chocolate. We then took a tour of the organic farm to take a look at the wide variety of plants being grown. It was truly an eye-opening learning experience. I committed the cardinal sin of not having a fully charged phone to have taken more pictures.Whenever visiting Toledo, make sure to visit. You will learn something new. It’s worth it.
This tour is phenomenal!!!! The trek through the jungle, learning about cacao and the other edible/medicinal plants was wonderful. The lunch was authentic Maya cuisine and so delicious. Learning and doing the traditional method of preparing chocolate was fascinating! Highly recommend you do this!
Very kind and friendly family. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay with Mr Eladio and his family. The views from the house were wonderful, looking across the forest with the turquoise river just a short walk away. When we left, Mr Eladio gave us fruit from his farm. We would love to visit again. The archaeological site of Lubaantun is very close, walking distance.
Eladio is an old friend. Our visit was strictly social.

Amazing hospitality from Eladio and his family, a much more individual authentic and fun from the other mass tour we’ve seen and heard of. Please go visit!!!
Touring Lubaantun and the village of San Pedro Colombia we stumbled across Eladio´s Chocolate Adventure where we learned about local traditions in chocolate making directly from the family. One of the highlights of our trip to Belize. Thanks!
Good place to visit... Friendly people!!!
This had to be one of my favorite of all tours in Belize. I’ve recent visit this farm on 17FEB19 and the family was so awesome and welcoming. Everything I saw and did was so naturally beautiful. Pops is so sweet and humble he took us around farm and showed us the cacao plants/trees, bananas and other organic plants he grows. his oldest daughter Italia, gave us a history lesson of their farm and family as well an on hand demonstration on how to make chocolate. I highly recommend adding this to one of your must see while in Belize.
