El Tapatio Mexican II - Mexican restaurant in Gadsden, United States
This is as good as it gets. We were introduced to this place by friends. Mexican food is not my first choice but I was not disappointed. We sat with a waters edge view. The lights were dim but not so much so that reading the menu was possible without using the flashlight on my phone. A plus service is what you can expect. Tell them ole Greg sent you. When they ask who is ole Greg, be honest and say ”i dont know ”. Enjoy.
This might be my new favorite Mexican resturant in Gadsden. Salsa was good, steak was perfect with very little fat. Will be back again.
This was my first time ever eating at El Tapatio, and it will not be my last. The food was so delicious. I wished I would have taken a picture of it for the review, but it totally slipped my mind.
Great food and service
Very good. And the view was the best. ❤
Waiter was great and the portions are definitely more then expected the food came out very quickly and tasted great thank you very much
Great food and friendly service. Definitely recommend!
The only Mexican restaurant I ever go to in Gadsden. I love it and service is great 👍🏼
We came in the door and the guy ,owner?, said be right with you. Another lady came by about 5 minutes later said same thing. Another 5 minutes goes by more people came out more food was taken from kitchen. Must have been a day when no one wanted to show up for work. Better luck next time
Nice place. Good attentive server and the food was very tasty. I would recommend a visit 👍
Best Mexican food in Gadsden, hands down. This location is much better than the Rainbow City location, but both are phenomenal and the prices are really agreeable. If you go you wont regret it!
It was delicious! My husband and I had the flamming cheese, daughter had chicken quesadilla, and her boyfriend had Nachos. We all loved it!
Great food & super friendly staff & your portions are worth it
Great restaurant good food and nice atmosphere
I literally LOVE this place!! I’ve been here three time now and I cannot get over how good it is. I’ve never been interested in Mexican food beyond the chips and queso, but I ordered a chicken quesadilla and ate the entire thing. Let me tell you, it was SO. GOOD. This coupled with the amazing view over the lake puts this place in my top 5 restaurants.
The food was very nice. I enjoyed the salsa and cheese dips. I got an enchilada with rice and beans. I didnt like the sauce they had on it, but other than that is was delicious. My boyfriend got two cheese quesadillas. He liked them, and said they were the best hes had in a while. The staff was ever so nice, and every time I was low on my drink they would come by and refill it, along with our chips and salsa. Definitely would recommend, and will come back for sure. If youre looking for cheap place to enjoy this is the spot. The veiw was also very nice from the window seat.
The best Mexican food around. Our kids love it, they always ask to go, and they are picky eaters. They have a kids menu with pizza and chicken nuggets if your child is not an adventurous eater. The staff is nice and courteous. And its always nice to eat with the view of the river.
Not as good as we expected or hoped they would be. Spiciest part of meal was the salsa
Our Server wasnt real good, but it was very busy. The food and drinks were amazing.
Had better meals there but still good.
The restaurant is disgusting and the bathroom was even worse. The food was awful. Not what Id expected from an authentic Mexican food Restaurant. McDonalds has better food.
Employees are friendly and efficient. Drinks and meals were delivered promptly. Food was hot and fresh and of sufficient quantity. Tortillas were fresh and warm. The only thing we didnt like was the salsa. It tasted more like ketchup than salsa but everything else was good.
Absolutely my favorite Mexican restaurant. Food is always hot and on point. Service is outstanding! Manager made at least three trips around the dinning room checking on everyone my last visit.
The food is good but my experience working there could have been better. I tried my best to do a good job there (I was a busboybut I didn’t meet their standards… and although I technically didn’t do anything wrong… I was let go without warning or an explanation. That was highly unprofessional and quite frankly disrespectful.. 👎🏻😤
Ordered tacos de carne asada..... (not street tacoscame out completely covered in foil, before I could unwrap the waitress gave a drive by obligatory “does everything look ok?” While walking away. Got the foil off only to see about 2 cups of cilantro chopped up onto 3 tacos. No exaggeration. The menu description has no mention of cilantro. I tried to clear enough to possibly eat it. (Nope it still tastes like soap to meI pointed out to the waitress that it doesn’t say that it comes with cilantro on the menu, she immediately wanted to argue, but said what can I bring you? So I ordered enchiladas rancheros, with beef. Ok, so basic Mexican/Tex mex dish. Raised in Texas and I know Mexican food.... this is not it. Server basically threw my plate in front of me, it looked like a pile of slop. I feel sorry for the people who live in that area and have never experienced good Mexican food. My daughter’s taquitos were dry and definitely not worth eating. Horrible food, rude server. Do not recommend. The pile of cilantro in pic is half of what was on 1 of the tacos. Not to mention the tomatillo sauce wasn’t given with the order either. When they brought my replacement plate they didn’t even give me hot rice.
My wife and others went to your restaurant for the first time on 12/27/21. We stood inside for several minutes, even saw a couple of employees, but nobody acknowledged our presence. There were several police officers and others in line behind us and nobody said “hello or we will be with you in a minute.” We finally left and went to Villa fiesta. I just decided to contact you before I gave a one out of five on the review. We know that things are tough, but there is no reason to totally ignore customers.Nobody from your Gmail address responded to my email so here’s my review.
Oh, yes!!! Absolutely the best Mexican restaurant Ive eaten in.Friendly staff, quick service, fantastic food, served HOT! Lots of great choices at very reasonable prices.Waiter was great. Kept my coffee full for the whole meal! (Important to a coffee drinker). Our group of ten got our food all within minutes of each other and waiter and waitress made sure we had all the tea, water, and coffee we needed.Highly recommend!! Youll be pleased.
Always great food and service! The manager was there and checking on all customer to be sure everything is good!
On entering we had staff members cheerfully greet us. They were very quick in seating us and getting our order. There was plenty of chips for our table and the salsa was good. The carnitas I ordered was tender and had great flavor. The salad was fresh with perfect avocado slices. Side order of jalapeños topped off this great dinner. The place was clean and had a nice atmosphere.
My wife and I went here for our date night. It was very dark inside due to lights being too dim. The view of the river was beautiful. Plenty of chips, salsa, and queso to munch on while waiting on the main course which was very quick to arrive. My wife ordered the steak nachos with all the veggies and I had the chicken chimichanga with all the veggies. We both enjoyed the food and had to take home a doggie bag.
We stay at the RedRoof next door from time to time. We look forward to coming over every time we stay here.Window seats overlooking the river.Friendly staff, good food, always enjoy.
The staff is really friendly. The food was hot and fresh. We also had drinks..would not recommend the Bloody Mary unless you like a strong tomato taste. The Tequila Sunrise and Texas Margarita were good though!
I am absolutely am livid by our service at El Tapito On Rainbow Drive it was the worse first of all they served my soon to be step mother in law raw chicken it was pink then my father in law had a long hair in his beef nachos absolutely disgusting then the waiter was like i will get them to remake the chicken and ill take it off your ticket and you will have it for free i was like thank you then i got to the register where the manager was and he over charged me first of all i was like either way it should have been cheaper because he took off the beef nachos needless to say he was getting a attitude and i was like sir your still overcharging me at the end of the day i pay and told him he lost our business you dont do your customers that way when you made the mistake
Building is in sad shape for being a riverfront venue. Also the renovations are extremely poor and incomplete. I would even say moderately delapidated. I cant imagine that the building systems plumbing and electric could even adequately supply a commercial restaurant let alone soon CJs crab shack. This building has exceeded its physical life in expectancy and will soon need a major renovation or bulldozer. But I bet rent is affordable. Just get insurance for loss of use when building fails your business.
Best Mexican food outside of Phoenix Arizona Cancun Mexico and Rocky point Mexico I’ve had them all steak was cooked perfectly just like in Cancun rice and beans are perfectly Seasoned even the avocado slices were nice and green and beautiful The street tacos were perfect so much flavor. This was my first time dinning here and I did takeout.I can’t even imagine eating in the dining room how wonderful that will be. I definitely will be back thank you for such a wonderful meal
Lunch/Dinner at El Tap is a weekly thing and if youre not doing the same, then youre missing out! My weeks are better after having the most delicious, cheesiest, jalapeños cheese dip with chips and Mango Margaritas on the rocks 🧊If youve never ordered and tried their Cheese dip with Jalapeños, youre not living to your fullest! Its a MUST!Family owned and the best Mexican food in our area! Ask for Milton when being seated here! He is the best! 💃🏽
Really good food and place. 🍻friendly servers
My date, a nurse, highly recommended them and said its her favorite Mexican restaurant out there. I was astounded to learn they fed the ER nurses and staff in gadsden regional during the first flood of covid patients weekly for free. For that alone i wanted to try their food to show some appreciation.I got the carnitas tacos and they were great! First place Ive been to in alabama that wasnt afraid to use cilantro. She got her favorite burrito. When Im in the gadsden area I will definitely be back.
We went for my friends birthday. Loved the service, the food, and the drinks!
Have ate here several times. Its decent. Tonight was not good at all. We went about an hour before closing time. Giving 4 star today because normally its better.
Waiter was good considering we ate a busy hour during opening and good conversation. The food was fresh and plentiful portions. My only complaint is the restroom could have been better kept.
The staff was nice so I really wanted to write a good review but, this was honestly the worse Mexican food Ive ever eaten. Nothing was good not even the tea, the chips were stale, etc. I wont be visiting again. 😕
Awesome food, friendly service....my absolute favorite place to eat
Went on Valentines, was short handed but was a great place! Very good food, I had the burrito al pastor, was awesome with pineapple! Mango marg. Was awesome but will try the frozen next. Its a must if your in mood for Mexican.... Back room has been remodeled and looks nice
Really nice place, havent been since before COVID-19 and still enjoyed it!! Our waiter checked on us about two times and refilled our drinks once, and the salsa was a bit spicier than I remember. But all in all Id recommend it anytime!!
Went here for my birthday. The restaurant isnt the greatest to look at no.the food however was awsome. why would I want to go to the upscale restaurants that have disgusting food time and time again Ive done this. I went to many a places steakhouses included That Couldnt cook a decent meal that I spent over $200 at I would much rather have delicious food then a beautiful restaurant any day give me the mouth watering small hole in the wall,Mexican restaurant over the expensive bland food restaurants with the nicest seating and upscale beautiful decor geez nope youve got to be kidding me people if you want great food and a full stomach go here. have a blessed day.
We recently went for the first time and will definitely make the drive to go back! The prices are good and the dishes are well proportioned.Giving 4 stars because when we asked for something the boy very abruptly said "ask your waiter" which I thought was pretty rude.
Always a good time. Especially when you are in the room with the river view!I had a great birthday and enjoyed the fried ice cream 🥳The staff was awesome, as always, and the food delicious as always.**Also the staff was following ALL Covid-19 protocol! I felt very safe eating there with my family.
Dont come here for excellent service. The food is whats going to keep us coming back. Best weve had compared to competitors within miles. The decor is blah and the lighting needs adjustments. Server wasnt as attentive as he could have been. They put us in a corner and I feel like they forgot we were here.
Fun, comfortable and plenty of great authentic food. Special orders are no problem if you dont find EXACTLY what you want on the menu. Prices are lower than the "competition" without any difference in quality of food or service. Decor is not fancy and a bit crowded. The overall look and furnishings (wobbly tables and chairs for exampleis a bit inferior to other Mexican restaurant in the area, but its clean and suffers NOT in service and flavor!
