A very nice little restaurant

We read the reviews and were encouraged by good reviews of the food. However, the service was pretty bad. We went on a Sunday night. It took about 20 minutes to get water. It took about 30 minutes to get our appetizer. We got the appetizer sampler which wasnt good, dont bother with that one: fried, tasteless dough pretty much. We decided to get the check and go elsewhere.

The food was amazing. Fresh Grouper and the rice and beans are not your regular rice and beans…so flavorful! Also had the sampler, great way to try a little of a lot. An absolutely delicious meal, would return to try other dishes in their menu!

Delightful place in a fun area valley LA Placita! Everyone in the party of 5 enjoyed their dinner, people watching extraordinaire. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. Recommend taxi or Uber as parking is tight and traffic rough

I really enjoyed my food (Mofongovery flavorful and delicious. The service was great, very prompt and attentive. My friend on the other hand did not enjoy her food, it was not as good/tasty. Nevertheless, I would still recommend because most of the food was good, good service and is located in a lively area.

Its in the La Placita market place.They had just opened when we got here so we were the only customers. Cute space.The food was good and service was good. They have a full bar so it must be a great night spot.Beef Stew Mofongo was good. Beef was tender and flavorful.Mero en Garlic was so good!

We decided to come here on a whim and even though it is a little difficult to find its a really nice spot to eat. Food was cooked to perfection and the staff was very friendly.

Our last choice everything was super packed on Friday. Im glad we stumbled on to this spot. Real criollo food. Teresa was sooo nice explained everything thoroughly food was delicious. Very clean spot. If you like pike aka spice their homemade salsa was flight! I ordered the pantorilla de cerdo super tender pork meat my lord!

Man, I wish I could give this place 5 stars but they just cant get the little things right. The food was practically amazing, but the service was sub par. We waited about 40 minutes to get our food, other people who arrived after us got meals first. During that time the waiter left our small glasses of water totally empty. I finished half my meal before I got a refill. The shrimp stuffed grouper is incredible, my girlfriend got the crab mufango which was also great, except there were tons of bits of crab shell that you constantly bit into. Literally, better service and take the time to make the dishes right and this place would be a gem.

Do not recommend for English speaking tourists. Major miscommunication with waiters regarding vegetarian options and food pricing. We had a meat dish served to a religiously vegetarian friend after triple checking that the food was vegetarian. When we tried to dispute the dish served and its charges, we were threatened with the police and a waiter got physically aggressive with us. The miscommunication is fine, but basic human decency would be nice.

We sat down to order and had 2 intermediate level spanish speakers in our group. As 3 of us are vegetarian as part of our religion, we made sure to double and triple check with the server that there would be no meat of any kind in it. After this we received our food and began eating it. After a few minutes we started tasting something that tasted really weird and after sorting through the food sure enough there were pieces of pork in it. As bad as this was, it wasnt the end of the world in and of itself but another server started to get aggresive as if it was our fault. At the end we were forced to pay a bill for food that was barely eaten, including a dish that was never ordered.

My friends asked the waitress if their food would be vegetarian and she said yes. The rice & beans had pork in it, which my friends ate before realizing it had meat in it (they cant eat meat for religious reasons). The waitress also brought us mushrooms, even though none of us ordered them. When we disputed this with the waitress, another waiter came over and said the miscommunication wasnt the waitressess fault and almost immediately threatened to call the police on us for disputing the bill. This waiter also became physically aggressive with my friend who was disputing the bill. The restaurant ended up taking the rice & beans off the bill, but not the mushrooms, and they never apologized for having meat in a dish we were promised was vegetarian. Overall, a very disappointing and intimidating experience.

I would highly suggest to not eat at this restaurant if you dont eat meat. I went with a group of friends and many of us were vegetarian including myself, and so we confirmed multiple times (both in English and Spanishwith the waitress that the food we had ordered had no meat in it at all, and she said it did not. But after we got our food and started eating, we realized there was pork in the food. And on top of that, we were given items that we didnt order at all. When we questioned the extra items as well as the meat that was fed to pure vegetarians, which is unacceptable, they didnt budge or even apologize. On top of that, one of the waiters got very aggressive and threatened to call the cops multiple times. Please go at your own risk.

Had some serious problems with customer service at this place. My friend is strict vegetarian and does not like to eat beef/pork. The rice turned out to have pieces of pork in it and when we tried to get a refund politely, the waiter became aggressive and wanted to call the police... Food was alright ordered some pasta. Nothing special.

First 1 star review. Waiter threatened multiple times to call the police. Very unprofessional. We requested vegetarian food. Triple checked "vegeteriano? Sin carne? Sin pollo? Sin cerdo?" And after receiving our food and trying a bite, the rice contained pork. They were aggressive after being informed of their mistake.

Good food, nice live singing. Our waitress was quite slow however, and did mess a few things up in our order. Good cornish hen and eggplant parm. Mamposteao and tostones just ok.

Good food but not a great service. They were charging me something I didnt order. But I guess thats ok, maybe theres no good communication between the cashier and waitress. However, I didnt like when they took my plate when I didnt finish. I guess they wanted to give my table to other clients but thats not fair and polite.

The Best food and service in La Placita de Santurce.

Excellent food. Good portion. Freindly atmosphere. Authentic cuisine. We had the whole fish; the steak; and grilled chicken. All wery good.

Had the mofongo with churrasco. Mofongo was good but the churrasco wasnt like any Ive had before. Not bad tasting just had a sauce on it thats hard to explain, kind of bland. Would give them another chance if Im ever back in San Juan.

Fantastic local food! Great service! A friendly young local sat next to us, suggested what she was having (the red snapperand even shared some. It turns out shes the owner! We also tried the empanadas and alcapurria- highly recommend!!

If you are looking for a great, cozy place to have some frituras, drinks, good food, live music and friendly service around the La Placita en Santurce, then El Sabor de Reina is your place.The place is not very big, but they accommodated our large group of 24 and handled our ordering "madness" without missing a beat.It is certainly a recommend for us.

WOW! First time in Puerto Rico and me and my friends came down to La Placita for some salsa dancing on a Thursday night. What an amazing time we had. We decided to grab a bite here and I ordered this amazing dish which was a half of a HUGE avocado, de-shelled and filled with some delicious churassco. My wife had the ceviche which was great too.

Just an awesome place. Courteous staff, out of their way to please your demands. Taste just incredible. Try the Avocado filled with chicken, churrasco or shrimp, its just too good.
