El Rosal in Modesto

Food was VERY good, but service was pretty poor. It took a long time to get our order taken and to get our bill. Not a place to go in a hurry.

I have been here since it opened and still love it. ❤️

We absolutely adore this place. We get the gigantic wet burrito. Its 2 feet long and it feeds 4 adults and 2 kids with left overs. They give you cabbage, chips and salsa too.

This is the best Mexican Restaurant in Modesto. The food is very authentic and delicious! The service is excellent. Also, love the chips and salsa. The food is just like my mom and Grandma use to make. Thank you El Rosal for your delicious food.

Just like how my Suegra used to make her food and she was well known for her excellent cooking.Plenty of Mexican people eating there too so you know its good.

Food isn’t like it used to be. charged almost $10 in extra cheese and meat in quesadillas. service wasn’t consistent, we always would go here but never again.

Weve been going to this location for almost 2 decades now. Absolutely the best one of the other El Rosals in Modesto. Great food, fast service, and excellent customer service.

A group of Ladies went last Friday Night we arrived at 5:30 food was still not served at 6:30 ! We had a server who took our order and then like 4 others who delivered the food, all the servers were clueless about our food. One of our guests didnt receive hers we kept asking for it and it finally arrived and they had to put the food to go. We had a Performance to go to which was 5 mins from Restaurant, we figured we had plenty of time. Worst service Ive ever had! They need to train their staff!It was El Rosal on Staniford and Tully!We will never patronize that restaurant again or reccomend!!!!

Absolutely delicious and hot! Where else can you order and have your food ready in 15 minutes? The carnitas are tender and seasoned and the beans and rice are actually spiced!

My family has been coming here for years. Today we went, they did not bring drinks, chips or napkins, or even menus to my family after they arrived (they came in a few min after i did), after the waitress came by a few times we finally asked if she could please just take there drink order. We ordered our food at the same time. When my sons food came the fries were cold. My husband ordered a supreme burrito with grilled chicken which they charge extra for but when he got his burrito there was little to no chicken. My parents ordered a meal that said it was 28 dollars and they rang it up as 30 and said they couldnt change it because thats how it rings up. There is apparently no manager in to speak to for 3 more days. I will not be back.

We are long time El Rosal customers both at this location on Standiford and in Riverbank. In the past we had always received good service, the food is good, it was a good place to dine out.Something has changed. On our last two vists the servers exhibited an extremely bad attitude, they were unattentive, and rude.On both occassions once the order was taken, the food took a long time to arrive and we never saw our food server again. I had to ask 3 different employees to simply refill my water glass. Based upon the servers attitude and lack of concern for the customer it is clear that El Rosal in Modesto does not want our business or support. Based upon our experiences we have eliminated this restaurant from out list of choices. There are many better choices.

Placed an order for Christmas eve that they lost. They had to redo the order which took close to an hour. Not very apologetic for the inconvienence.

High quality food, amazing chips and salsa, and the best customer service Ive experienced in a long while! I will certainly be eating here again in the future!

Im going to start off by saying, it was very good before.. but last Sunday I ordered menudo, and specified that I wanted homony in my serving, it was an order to go, so when I called to let her know, she was more worried on what she claims, she heard and wrote down, she says to bring it back, I thought it would of been a fresh one, she gave my wife 2 containers of homony,for us to add.. I was like is this a menudo Kit, to go.. lol.. Ive been trying to get ahold of a manager who cares,or the owner Jose Martinez, but ,they are not making anyone available...Its ok.. Im not going back.. but I was a loyal customer for 3 years..

I ordered thru grubhub, received one less plate than I ordered so I called the restaurant itself both ladies argued with me I offered to send them pics of what was in the bags they said no and they had no plates left behind and basically called me a liar.. I asked them to just deliver my missing plate they said they didnt deliver but I looked online and they do. Almost $80.00 my husband loves this place but they wont receive my business again.

Service and food was good. We all had different varieties of plates and everything was flavorful, especially the chips and dip.

Omg! If you love chile rellenos this is THE place to go! The batter is so light, and it doesnt overpower the delicate chile. It almost dissolves in your mouth. Green sauce is so good! Knocked it outta the park yo!

Lets be honest, we had a coupon that came yesterday. We have a meeting in our Rahzel in a long long time. Food and service today were exceptional except for my wifes drink with never refilled and nobody asked me if I would like a second beer. Other than that both our entrees were generous proportions and we had even some to take home. Well give them a try again.

I would have given them 5 stars if I could say chili verde is served fresh , moist everytime ... 4 stars is for it is fresh more time than not...One (noout of five(yes...aint bad...

If I could pick 0 stars I would. I am extremely dissatisfied and disappointed. There is only one table other than our being attended to. It took them so long to check on our table. For seating, drinks, refills, boxes to go and getting the check. There good was over salted. Burritos were dry and soggy. The rice was stiff the shrimp were extremely dry and unseasoned. The nachos had so little chips to it. And little to nothing but meat and cheese on top. No lettuce. No salsa. Extra for avocado. Strongly suggest you do not come here.

Every time Im in the area I have to stop by and grab some chips and salsa. Their salsa is the best! 🤤 The food is amazing. The staff is always friendly and attentive.They also keep the restaurant and restrooms clean which is a good sign haha

We eat here at least 3-5 times a month its one of our favorite places to go out and get really good food.

One of my favorite places for Mexican food in Modesto. There are plenty of options here for you to enjoy. If you make your way down here, ask for flour chips, You can thank me later. Actually, you can thank me with some flower chips. Im serious, call me up and Ill head down there and eat chips with you.

El Rosal #1 has been in the neighborhood for decades, and has been somewhat of the family place to go when we want to go out to eat. This evenings venture however was nothing like I have experienced in previous years. Granted all restaurants have some deficiencies due to the pandemic – tonights meal though was unpallatable, unfamiliar, and unrecognizable. Tonight was the first time I ordered from the all day breakfast menu and what I ordered I am all too familiar with from other restaurants and from home kitchens. It was nothing at all what I expected. Therefore, I suggest, if you want to order from the all day breakfast menu – stick to the basics.

I ordered dinner for my daughter and myself tonight. She got a taco combo plate, I got a veggie burrito. In the notes, I asked for refried beans instead of whole beans. Rice on the side. Light on the lettuce. Three separate sentences. They sent me a burrito with ONLY lettuce and tomatoes inside of it. With the rice AND beans on the side. When I called them, the lady INSISTED I asked for both on the side. She wouldn’t listen to me. She was rude (barely taking the phone away from her mouth, said, “OMG, this lady!!” EXTREMELY unprofessional!!! Another lady got on the phone with me after I told her OMG yourself, I CAN understand you! The second lady told me to contact door dash for refund since they couldn’t fix the order and send it to me on their own. Went on door dash...they only give a $3 refund. 😡 Tried calling the restaurant back and it just kept ringing (at least a dozen timesto no answer. HORRIBLE customer service! This is the FIRST and LAST time I’ll ever order from this location! I’ve eaten at El Rosal for over a decade and have NEVER had customer service like this. Ever!if I could rate 0 or negative stars, I absolutely would.

My wife and I have been going to El Rosal for more than 24 years and in the last couple of years we have had a wonderful experience in service with the hostess Patty, she is attentive with making sure your taken care of and remembers what you drink while always in a cheerful mood, what a gem.

A nice and clean restaurant, seated quickly and inside, while perusing the menu we received bowl of warm chips and piping hot bowl of refried beans and chilled salsa. I ordered enchiladas de mole which arrived got and tasted amazing.

Ordered the fajita family pack. When I arrived, the resteraunt was extremely busy, and some items in my order were forgotten. I did not notice until I got home. (I shouldve checked.To the managers credit, he called several times and texted during my drive home. He did make it right by throwing in an extra item and offered to have it delivered. So, I would say that customer satisfaction is high on the list, and I appreciated the effort to make it right. The fajitas were delicious, as was expected of El Rosal. I would return at a later date. Maybe when they are not so busy.

Recently went here on Friday worst customer service the server seemed very irritated and she got mad when she gave me the wrong drink rolled her eyes then she didn’t give us menus when we told we were ready because we already knew what we wanted she seemed upset but the food was awesome besides the service. Go to the one in Turlock way better and better service!

First time trying...The food is delicious!!! 😋😋 Man did that hit the spot! I got beef enchiladas with rice and beans! The goal was to take a picture but after the first bite it I couldnt stop! Cleaned the plate! 😜 presentation isnt there. This is how I received it.

Food is good, charged $2.00 for grilled chicken on tapatias, because its not shredded. Was over grilled, not tasty, & hard. Wont be ordering that again, if & when I decide to visit this particular site.

First time ever going to El Rosal upon the recommendation of a friend. I am so glad I listened. The food was great. They were so busy with to go orders , yet my wait was very short. Its my new favorite Mexican place to eat!

Excellent place to eat! Its a favorite of ours. They arent cheap but they have some things that are reasonable, like their super (wetburrito for $10 or $11. They make the BEST green sauce you will ever try. We compare everything to El Rosal, they set the bar high. However, the service is hit or miss.

Fourth of July night. Most restaurants were closed early. Really wanted Mexican food. Tried this place. It really wasnt that busy in the resturaunt. There were a lot of to go orders. People standing in line waiting. The host got us our chips and salsa rather quickly. That was the last time we got anything quickly. Waited about 10 min to get our margaritas. I believe our waitress was taking care of all the to-go orders. We waited about 20 min before she came to take our order. I had the chili verde. My friend had some kind of chicken dish. Wed give our food about a 7. We will give this place a second chance.

It was a good experience! Waitress was very nice to me and it takes around 20 mins to get the food ready! You can freely walk in and sit down at any seats of the restaurant! There are TVs you can watch! Also dont miss out the lunch special from 11am to 3pm! Not a bad deal and not a waste of money to go here!!!

Doesnt see as popular as it once was and a lot of locals still frequent it. There was a time when the place was packed all the time and it was hard to not come here without having to wait. After they opened up several chains it lost the family touch but its still a place I frequent because it hasnt changed. Foods still the same and Ill come here to order salsa and chips all the time. I like the one on Coffee better.

Best Mexican food anywhere! I no longer live here, so when I visit I must stop in. They have a very unique salsa. I will usually buy a 32oz container to go. I usually get the tacos and enchiladas . Our whole family loves them.
