Traditional dishes including Basque recipes and tapas, plus a lively bar screening Spanish football.
Some of the best Tapas we have had. There was a mix up with the time of the booking but this was dealt with without any problem.
Love this place, really feels like a Spanish restaurant, tucked away in Manchester. The food is pretty good and the staff are friendly. Certainly worth a look if youre fancying tapas
Fantastic little gem of a restaurant. Authentic Spanish tapas. I have tried so many different Spanish restaurants, but nothing compares to el rincon and the service provided.
Exceptional food, wonderful ambience and lovely staff...authentic Spanish experience!
Brilliant place, staff are so friendly...food is authentic Spanish tapas and absolutely beautiful. Would recommend.
Fantastic birthday meal this afternoon. . Loved every dish and sangria fabulous. . Will definitely be back soon and recommend.
Beautifully cooked authentic Spanish tapas. When I return to Manchester I will book this restaurant
Dont be put off by its location down a back alley... It feels like a real Madrid local restaurant, with great food (we had tapasand excellent value.
Beautiful food! We ordered a selection of tapas (meatballs, chicken and cream sauce, beef fillet medallions, patatas bravas and toasted bread). All came with delicious toppings and really were delicious! Also ordered the meat paella (I love seafood but others at the table not so much- it was fresh and delicious. Sangria also lovely. Service fast and friendly and we had a fantastic time. Big thanks to you all!
Great tapas restaurant. Good selection of tapas and paella. We had several tapas which all tasted great. The chicken and steak tapas were especially tasty. Also shared a nice bottle of white rioja. Lucky to have an authentic tapas restaurant in Manchester.
Absolutely loved this place, staff was super nice, food is AMAZING, quick to be served, love the old vibe ambiance, super easy to book a table, no fussing no upfront reservation payment needed. Proper catalunia home food. It is now my fav restaurant in Manchester.
Excellent tapas Spanish restaurant hidden away from the shops and main roads. Excellent professional service. Squid and octopus with garlic read. Delicious.
Great service, great food and great bar! I will definitely be back. Get the Patatas Bravas, they are muy delicioso!
Fantastic meal at El Rincon de Rafa. Ambience and food makes for a truly relaxing dining experience. if you love tapas and all things Spain then head here
Beautiful authentic Spanish restaurant! The service is on point and the food is finger licking good! :Will be back! Highly recommended
Ate here with 3 colleagues in June 2022 after a simple Google search. As we entered, people leaving were raving about it (the monkfish was excellent apparently). We had 12 small plates some by staff recommendation and we were delighted by the quality, the service and the price. Highly recommend.
On a positive note, the decor is really rustic, the service was great and the wine was nice. However the food was terrible. Everything was over cooked. Ordered the octopus and had to send it back because it was overdone and incredibly chewy, had the beef in red wine and garlic - the beef was like shoe leather and it was so overcooked that the garlic tasted burned, the prawns stuck to your teeth and every other meat dish was overdone too. Sauces were nice but I don’t know how a decent chef can’t cook meat properly. Such a shame as the place is beautiful inside and the people are lovely but I go to a restaurant for the food. Won’t be going back.
We called for a lunchtime drink hoping to book a table for the evening but unfortunately it was fully booked for the next few days. Lovely atmosphere good wine.
Nice vibes and staff.Tapas were very tasty, especially the lamb.Paella was pretty disappointing, had a very strong taste of seawater (not seafood, but actual seawater), as if the seafood used hadnt been properly washed. Couldnt finish all of it so asked to get it packed to go, but the kitchen threw it away (almost half a paella that we paid for). We only got a side of churros as compensation.Wish I had a better experience, dont know if I would come back.
Amazing place. Stayed in Manchester recently and came across this place by a random search and we are glad we did. We went there twice and both times they were so welcoming and accommodating, best food, best hospitality and best staff. Thank you so much for having us.
Not quite the Spanish experience. Circle the food on the menu rather than converse with the staff. Food was great. Experience a bit lacking
Food ok.Lost our resevation, didnt seem bothered. Gave us terrible service. Had to get up three times to remind them, seemed to be punishing us for turning up.Wont come again.
First visit and really enjoyed it. As you go down the steps it feels like you leave Manchester behind and enter Spain. Easy to order by just ticking the items on the menu, good selection of beers and wines. Food comes fast. Will be back.
Absolutely fantastic birthday meal for my daughter. Food was wonderful, Cruzcampo beer and the sangria were great too. Thanks also for the wonderful orange and chocolate birthday cake - it was delicious
🏴 Worst Spanish restaurant Ive ever been and Im spaniard. The food is completely a mess. First, I would like to highlight the good things about the venue. Its well decorated and you feel like youre in a bar in southern Spain. Also, all the crew is Spanish, however not all of them speak English so I wouldnt be surprised if you lose in translation with them. Then, the food was terrible. We ordered 3 basic tapas: patatas bravas, chicken and croquettes. Neither one of them would have been acceptable in Spain. The potatoes were semi burnt, bald and they didnt look nice. In the chicken tapa, there was more sauce than chicken and the sauce was not even good. And then, the croquetes were industrial and frozen. I have never tried distasteful croquettes. The only good thing about the experience is that its cheap and the tapas are editable-ish.
Fantastic as close to Spanish cuisine as you can get in Manchester. Always a good meal here and usual we ordered way too many tapas & had to box the paella for the next day.
I cant believe its taken me so long to try this place! Friend of mine had told me about it years ago, stating that its more authentic than any other tapas place. I cant say whether thats true, but I can say that it is so far the best tasting tapas food Ive had in Manchester!!No photos as I was too hungry and the nature of the dishes meant they were brought to table when they were ready - and no way was I going to pause eating to take photos!!The place has an old world charm about it, rustic and welcoming. Hidden away down the backstreets of Deansgate, this is really an amazing find!We had Pan Salsa Verde (hot bread with olive oil and garlic), merculita (deep fried silver hake), pulpo gallega (Gallician style octopus), Lubina (sea bass fillet), Calamares, Costillas de Cerdo (pork ribs), chuletitas cordero (lamb chops), pinchitos morunos (morrocan style kebabsand serrano ham croquettes. Each dish was perfectly cooked and well seasoned - there was no overpowering garlic or lingering taste of any commercially used sauces. Everything tasted hot, fresh and properly home cooked from scratch. My only gripe was that I couldnt taste the serrano ham in the croquettes as much as Id have liked, and the fact that plain bread wasnt available on the menu - the amount of juices in the dishes would have been deliciously mopped up! In fact, once the pork ribs had been finished, I was dying to pick up the bowl to drink the leftover sauce! (I didnt, but if there wasnt anyone watching I would have).Stand out dishes were the seabass, the octopus, the lamb chops and of course the pork ribs, but honestly all the other dishes were fantastic too. All the portions sizes were decent and I felt the price was good value - for instance, 4 lamb chops for £8.95 is impressive.I highly recommend - theres so much choice too, I cant wait to go back and try the other dishes!
An amazing paella in a such cozy place. Definitely, you should try the olives, nothing like in the supermarket and the fresh calamari. About the classic paella, was so tasty. The restaurant is a bit hidden, but google maps will help you.
Amazing little place hidden in deansgate. Saw a few reviews that said it was good and wanted to check it out, so glad we did! It really is a hidden gem, the restaurant is downstairs, and has lots of seating but you can book in advance, food was really tasty and such good variety. We got 7 dishes and that was too much, i think 3 each is perfect but a few extra wouldnt hurt if youre hungry. Prices were really cheap for the portion sizes. Service was great and staff were very friendly, will definitely be coming back!
I absolutely love this place. Hands down the best authentic Spanish tapas in Manchester. Big portions, Spanish vibe and most importantly delicious 😋 food. Hidden gem 💎 for sure ✨️
Love this place, a proper Spanish tapas restaurant run by Spanish people,Its round a back street of deansgate down In a large cellar. I had the best croquettes I have ever had, also Gambas pil pil which had a fantastic oil with spices etc the prawns were a little hard for me but still nice and a bit of bread to soak the juices up would have been nice. Really nice restaurant best tapas in Manchester
(Spanish nationalSpanish dishes sure, But they didn’t taste much like they do in Spain. The Spanish omelette was over cooked, no restaurant would serve it like that. The “filletillos” were hard to chew as they were also far over cooked. The “croquetas” we’re made with panko bedcrumbs not genuine Spanish finely grounded breadcrumbs. The “esaladilla rusa” was nice but the portion was tiny.Worst of all was they don’t serve you bread as a side dish, far from Spanish practice.I don’t recommend this place if you are looking for good “Spanish dishes” far far better places in Manchester.
This restaurant is described as a hidden gem. Its definitely hidden and totally a gem. The service was great and friendly and the food was amazing. You cant go wrong going here for Tapas 😋😋
Lovely hidden gem! Service was quick and our waistress was so friendly. Food was great. Atmosphere was nice even when it was so quiet - there were only a few other diners when my partner and I visited. Like other reviews have said, the place is reminiscent of a proper Spanish eatery in Spain! I felt like I was on holiday while eating here.My only criticism, and its not even really worth mentioning as everything about El Rincon is great otherwise, is the decor could be updated. Getting rid of some of the pictures and other outdated tat hanging around would really liven the place up.
Loved it, chilled, great service, Victoria larger and the best house wine anywhere!! Food great too obviously..
Classic tapas restaurant, long established and well known in Manchester despite being quite hidden away on a side street. Wide variety of dishes available and options suitable for veggies. (Not sure about vegan options.Busy but friendly staff.
Outstanding. A meal for 4 of us was £120, money very well spent!Delightful in every way, would highly recommend the fried hake, ribs and calamari. Would certainly return when back in Manchester.Authentic experience, lovely staff and outstanding food. 10/10.
Had a beer in here a few times and always wanted to try the food. We were not disappointed, had eight tapas dishes and all of them were lovely. Service was friendly and efficient. A lovely place to grab a bite after shopping.
Beautiful authentic Spanish restaurant with a proud Mancunian presence tucked away down a quiet back street. The food was amazing & the staff were great. If you want a true taste of Spain whilst in Manchester this is definitely the place to go!
A real hidden gem. Great service very friendly. Great prices and authentic food. We have gallician style octopus in he canary Islands and have never found it done well in the UK but these guys nailed it. Very tasty and fresh. Highly recommended especially washed down with sangria.
I took a group of school students here on a trip and the staff (Luigi, Janna and Yolanda specificallywere incredibly helpful! They went above and beyond to ensure that the trip was a hit. The food was delicious and the portions were very generous. Even the picky students amongst our group enjoyed the tapas! We will definitely be returning.
Feels like your on holiday, the small plates can be quite filling if theres only two of you, good for a group.
Excellent service and food. Expect to wait for your order as it was fresh and piping.Very relaxed eating experience.
A hidden gem. Fantastic authentic home cooked style tapas in a great setting. The staff are very friendly and attentive and the food is just delicious as well as being generous in portion size. You wont be disappointed if you try this restaurant.
Good, traditional Spanish tapas. Very friendly staff and quick service. They were happy to make drinks off the menu like Tinto de Verano 🙂
Really nice Spanish dining restaurant!!For the tapas, we ordered prawns. It was good and fresh but not really great. As for the paella, we ordered a seafood one. It was REALLY delicious so highly recommended.Since they are quite busy during dinner times, you can make a reservation as well: )
Little hidden gem in city centre! It serves traditional Spanish food which is very authentic. Very tasty and full of flavour. Service a bit slow but acceptable. Chilled atmosphere. Reasonable price.
The staff was really friendly, the house red is delicious and only £16 per bottle. Id recommend the beef filet tapas, the patatas and the mushrooms with blue cheese. Overall my friends and me were quite happy with our selection. The chorizo and croquettas were good too but Ive had better ones (in Madrid though). The place itself is very authentic and casual, overall great prices. Worth a visit!
Regular visitor to El Rincon but it had been a while since we ate here. We came on boxing day and it was quiet but the food was excellent.
Great little Spanish restaurant. Fairly priced. Paella was good but I even enjoyed my Tapas more! Alcohol no problem also. Would consider coming back here if in the mood for Spanish food.
