El Que Pasa - Restaurant in Asheville, United States
Just like the best authentic Mexican restaurant in Asheville period. Weve been eating here for years. Probably been here 200 times. Definitely recommend their Ceviche. Love relaxing at the bar here.
Excellent place for papas fajitas and table side quacamole. XX are poured tall! Excellent quality food served quickly when hot!
Check receipt. Was charged more on each item then what was on menu. Corn cake side should be 3.50. Was charged 4.95. Lunch taquitos were 7.49 and was charged 7.95. they just looked at me like whats the prob. Wouldnt correct the over charge. They said it was 4 dollars tax on a 10 dollar bill.
Walked in, literally thought I was in Mexico! This restaurant was so cute and the culture was screaming! Ordered the asada burrito and when I tell you I’ve never had food so greasy and cooked to perfection!!! 10 out of 10 would recommend this place!!!
Lunch prices you cant beat, BEST HOUSE MARGARITA AROUND!!! Food is always so good and the service is incredible! This has always been my favorite restaurant!
Food is absolutely delicious. And waitress was very nice and did her job beautifully
Amazing food, ginormous portions, friendly staff. The only frustrating thing was at the salsa bar where none of the salsa types were labeled. I didn’t know which ones were spicy and not. But other than that, this place is a definite go-to.
Not even talking about the service Im just disappointed this piece of meat is supposed to be for a taco
Love the food here, especially their Fajita Burrito Combo. Great service, also. Always stop when were in town.
Im ashamed Ive lived in Asheville for years and have not gone here before. It looks small on the outside but opens up to a large restaurant that is clean with an endless menu. Its pricier than other Mexican restaurants but you know how the economy is now. It includes a salsa bar as well.. only negative thing was the shredded beef taquitos with my #8 combo tasted plan.
Best Mexican Ive ever had! No joke, great atmosphere, extremely fast service. I barely got thru 5 chips before my sizzling fajita combo was delivered. BTW I sat on the bar side where they have plenty of flat-screens, and plenty of beer. I encourage everyone to check out their website.
Definitely a great Mexican restaurant! Great friendly staff, great food portions and reasonably priced! Also, make sure to try their cornbread!I discovered this place when I had a GMC Sierra, Id schedule my service visits around lunch time so I could walk down the hill from the dealership and get some lunch!
The food was good. Everything else was the issue. We ordered the molcajete fajitas. These were supposed to include steak, fish, shrimp, and chicken according to the menu. The server come back several times to verify what we got and we had to explain again. Then she said that it only included shrimp or fish and we said lets do shrimp which was contrary to the menu. We received the food which was good and different take on the normal fajitas. When we got the bill we were charged the normal price for the fajitas, which were the most expensive fajitas on the menu, and then added several dollars each for steak and shrimp. This was not made clear that it would be additional charge and made the bill $10 more than expected. I wish it was clearly stated that this would be extra vs. what the menu had on it as included. Lastly the happy birthday celebration drum scared alot of people because it was very loud and it seemed the staff tried to scare patrons. It was fun the first time but not the third time. So food was good, but the rest needs more work.
This place is the worse place as service was terrible the waitstaff brought half of our group they meal and we waited another 20 minutes our never came we had to waiting for the staff come table I was so mad already do to Noone had any idea what was going on , then I canceled they still charged us never again I plan ti go eat there
Starter tortilla chips were served with warm, soupy bean dip. Enchiladas were were served with a soupy sauce that drenched the enchiladas and a large portion of the rice and soupy beans. A small wedge of failing iceberg lettuce escaped the sauce and was topped with a scoop of guacamole (the best item served). The portions were large, but all in all, not very flavorful or distinctive. However, the service was quite good and the manager/staff were pleasant. To be fair, we will go again, and Ill avoid the soupy items noted, as it appears from other reviews that higher stars given for other types of dishes.
We went for lunch, and 🤩 this place is so friendly, inviting and so good!! Family of 3 got the guacamole 🥑, quesadilla and a side of steak for our picky toddler. All was so delicious we will 💯 be back to enjoy more another time. Yum 😋!!
Food and service was good. Left server 10.00 tip. That wasnt enough for her she gave herself 47.12 same as our bill. For this reason I will not go back.
Food was delicious as always, but the server could have been a little more attentive on working instead of flirting
Food is delicious, staff is great but menu prices are 2 to 3 dollars less than what you get charged
Large menu, huge portions, quality tequilas. Food is delicious. Constructive criticism: your chicken soup needs more soup & WAY less rice. Overall, thumbs up.
Food is always delicious, great selection of food and drinks. Salsa bar is great. There is a reason its packed all the time..
The food here is "okay" if you have NO IDEA what actual Mexican food is. Nothing but a mockery this place is. On top of that, I have worked in hospitality in this country, for YEARS! It sadness me that some people actually think that this establishment is a direct reflection of our rich Mexican Culture...Anyhow.On a different accord. This happened today after literally years of not stepping a foot in there. The service is TERRIBLE (it always has been)!!!I WONDER WHY I havent come back in more than 5 years!?!TOday after packing all day and getting ready for my big move tomorrow, I decided that I could benefit from some already-cooked food.(or so I thought)So... we went to "El Que Pasa" since it was on the way.Oh boy, what a terrifying experience it was!!After waiting for a while, we finally got our waters, it took them more than 30 minutes to deliver our Food... and it was all wrong!!!All of it.... ( my sons food wasnt even contemplated)When I asked my waiter why and how we could fix it... he just looked at me and said; "Hey Mamita, I know is all wrong, but, cant you see we are busy?!, and I have no idea when you can expect your food".......Wait, what, really??!??!Needless to say, I canceled my food order, payed for my one drink, and left!!GOOD RIDDANCE! Ugh!!!NEVER AGAIN!! 🤢
Ordered the ground beef tacos online based on the online menu prices which stated $8.49. Total was 11.50. Taxes arent that much and there was someone else that was charged more than expected in there as well. Not worth arguing about 3 dollars but I definitely wont be back.
Friggin love this joint.Tasty authentic blue-collar Cali-Mex fare at a super fair price.Huge menu and huge portions.Great margs.Place is big and often busy, but I love the resulting festive atmosphere, and still the food comes out remarkably fast.Favorite non-fancy spot in Asheville.
Unfortunately, so many of our local restaurants are understaffed and the quality of food and service has suffered because of it…NOT this place! You go inside and it’s just buzzing with people eating delicious food and staff working their tails off to make everyone happy. The food is on point EVERY single time. They seat you quickly, take your order quickly and serve your food quickly. That is what keeps us going back time after time.
The food was standard Mexican fare, and hearty portions. Huge plates.Really nice decor as well!Far and away better than taco hell, and only a dollar or two more!..the shredded beef in my tamales was juicy and tender. I had a dish that was 9.99, and was a dollar more than on the menu on my receipt. Not a problem, but just a heads up would be cool. Tried the Moscow mule as well, which was a dollar more than the price listed on the drink specials bar sign...which is erasable?. On Mondays the house margarita is $5.75, with Montezuma tequila...The wait staff was very friendly and fast, the chips were warm and not stale chips, also a nice salsa bar, not watered down at all.
This place gets five stars because of the quality and the value you can find here.🌯I ordered the Papas Bean Burrito and for $7.99, I got a MASSIVE hot burrito featuring a fresh flour tortilla stuffed with refried beans, cheese, and ample potato chunks, doused in a red sauce, served with a generous dollop of sour cream on a small salad, and plenty of delicious Spanish rice.🌯I am fully satisfied, and that’s after saving half of everything for a mighty fine lunch in a couple days.🌯Throw in the awesome FREE salsa bar, with a great selection of beautifully colorful hand-crafted offerings sure to please every palate, and you’ve got yourself a truly outstanding dining value.🌯Tired of paying 18 bucks for a simple hamburger? This place, mis amigos, has got your back.
Best Cali-Mex food in Asheville. Service is excellent! We eat here as often as possible. Fajitas are very tasty. My favorite is the beef tamale, the superb rice with tomato and onion, and the "cornbread". I cannot say enough about every employee, and their obvious desire to please their guests.
Food and service was great. Large amounts of food on the plates. Definitely a good place to go for Mexican.
The food is terrific and the service is great. Their fajitas for two could feed a small army and we always stumble out of there complaining about having eaten too much. If youre looking for a great mexican food place that isnt going to break the bank, this is the one for sure!
This place is amazing! Only a 20 minute wait on a busy Friday night. The food was unbelievably delicious and came out so quickly! You get chips and amazing guac/dipping sauce for the table when you sit down! The staff was consistently kind and helpful! Everyone there seemed to be having a great time as it was so lively! I can’t say enough good things about this place.
I went yesterday expecting to pay more or get less because of inflation. I am happy to say it was just as awesome as ever and the cost was the same! I eat out once a month and I always go here. The food is the best! I get the steak fajita for two and it is enough for 4 meals. I always do take out and they always get things right and fast.
They got bought and have changed the recipes for their already amazing food. Now its the same bland Mexican food you get everywhere else. This was our family favorite because of the amazing rice and bean dip too, now its bottom 3. I dont know why they sold to Papas and Beer but they did and now I dont see going back very often. and we are GREAT tippers too 25% or more. no appetizers at lunch time anymore either.
One of my favorite Mexican restaurants. Lots of menu options. Love the grill flavor on the meats, very smoky. I have taste many Mexican restaurants and this is the spot when Im in the area. The food is very tasty. Amazing salsas. Good service and atmosphere.
Trash quesadilla threw together! Whole pieces of peppers & onions in the quesadilla instead of being cut up! Dry! Only ate it because I was starving & it was 14.00$ Oh yeah & horrible customer service!!!!!!!
Very authentic Great Mexican food! I had chicken burritos, steak burritos here 2X while visiting. They have a salsa bar with every hot sauce imaginable. I cannot recommend this place enough not just for food but the service. The gentleman who took our to go order gave us the lunch price - same amount of food because i dropped the guacamole and sour cream from the burritos. Very reasonable prices as well for burritos as big as your head!
This is my absolute favorite place to get Mexican food! The service is always friendly and fast. The food is excellent! I have liked everything I have ever ordered. I am always impressed with the freshness and flavors of my dish. Thanks to all of the staff and management!
It’s the best! I’ve recommended this place to others and they like it even more than I do. I didn’t know that was possible.
Ordered the fajita nachos. The portion was wildly generous but the vegetables were cut really oddly and the overall dish was missing something. Would totally go back and try something different.Protip: if youre picking up, you can line up along the restaurant front in your car and the staff will come to youUpdate: went back for chips & queso and was not disappointed. they do a proper Texas-style queso loaded with jalapeno, pico(?), and meat. Hell yes. And the chips dont shatter. 👍
Hands down, the best Mexican restaurant I have ever been to. The food is amazing! Very fresh, good quality, flavorful meals. Service is great. The guacamole was the greatest ever, and I’ve had real good guac before. This restaurant came recommended to us by a target employee and the woman behind us in line. So glad word of mouth is still alive and well!
Cant express how amazing the food was! Super friendly staff and mouthwatering food no matter what you order!
I had a wonderful time here with my friends! We waited outside and they promptly texted us that our table was ready after a few minutes. The food is amazing and I HIGHLY recommend the melon margarita because lordy lordy that was SO good 😍. I will most definitely be back~
Large portions. Awesome salsa bar. Everyone was very happy with their food. We fed 3 adults and 5 kids for less than $90.
I had the delicious mahi mahi tacos. The rice was soft and so good. The salsa and guacamole was so fresh. I will be going back soon.
Great food and great service! That drink was pricey but very good and very large.
Delicious food! The service is great and very fast. Some of the best carnitas Ive ever had.
Amazing food!! The huge avocado burrito plate was only $9.99!! Such great food and large portions for a great price. Definitely check it out if youre craving Mexican food.
Delicious food. Great service. Extensive menu. All the portions are generous and delicious. We knew we came to the right place when they immediately set chips and bean dip in front of us with our menus. Very reasonable prices as well!!
This is California style Mexican food. Large menu. Can definitely get crowded but the service is very fast so is typically not a problem. Free, unlimited chips, bean dip, and salsa bar. The food is great and especially the meat, in my opinion. High quality meats, char-grilled to perfection and they dont skimp either. The meal portions are large. I typically share a plate or burrito with my wife and its plenty to fill us up. This location just expanded into an adjacent area to add more seating and a new larger bar. Ive said for years this is probably the best restaurant value in Asheville, as far as quality and quantity of food relative to price. Weve probably eaten here 60-80 times over the last 10 years. Eat local!
Wasnt my preference for Mexican but others around liked it. Salsa bar was a neat set up.
