Bright mom-&-pop joint serving Latin American/Mexican fare such as pupusas & pozole, plus breakfast.
A unique opportunity to experience some authentic Salvadoran food as well as Mexican food. I opted for the authentic food from El Salvador today. It was filling and tasty. The plantains were delicious and the chicken tamale and pupuso were very good...The pupuso is thin cornmeal batter stuffed with your choice of stuffing..
I have picked up, eaten in, and had delivery. This is one of my very favorite places in Abilene. The spices are absolutely perfect. My favorites are the tacos Al pastor and tamals (they sell both this fluffier kind and regular tamales). Their burritos, enchiladas, and pupusas are wonderful too. When in doubt, choose pork. Everything is fabulous. Window has only limited menu listed but serves full menu that’s online.
They have huge delicious burritos. Their lunch menu is great also
Enchiladas salty, cheese sauce is just velveta, beans and rice over cooked and lacked flavor, fajitas were actually decent but tasted like it was something you buy from H‑E‑B and warm up. Salsa was super super good.Over all price was outrageous and food wasn’t that great. Won’t be back.
Delicious lunch in Abilene! A great small restaurant with amazing food. Enjoyed the El Tipico with a jalepeño and cheese pupusa. Also had a big glass of horchata.
We get breakfast burritos here several times every month. The food is always fresh and made to order, and the service is great!
The chips and salsa are awesome. It was my first time trying El Salvadoran food. I have always been a big fan of fried plantains anyway so that was good, after leaving I realized I didnt get everything that was supposed to come with my dish. It was supposed to come with pickle cabbage. Also the math seemed off on my tickets and my friends. I ordered a dish that was $9.95, and I had a drink somehow my ticket came out to over $15. My drink would have to be $4. I get the same drink all the time at La popular for $2.
The food here is Phenomenal and so far our best Fish Taco in Our City Wide Search for the Best! 🐟 🌮 JNE 9.8
The tamales were ok , little smoked flavor but okThe milanesa was over-fried and tastelessThe pupusa was " different " than any other ive hadTry at your own
Really enjoyed eating here, very delicious and flavorful food, I highly recommend the Salvadorian plate.
I completely enjoyed my breakfast here. I ate the cactus and eggs. Don’t be afraid to try new things. They have regular food here too. The handmade corn tortillas are the best I have had in years. I enjoyed it so much I ordered other food to go. I only wish I was staying in Abilene longer so I could try their entire menu.
What a great place for lunch and Salvadorian food! Great food, friendly staff, nice atmosphere, easy to find from the street, plenty of parking. I highly recommend the salvadorian plate, pork & cheese pupusa and green pozole.
This is a nice family atmosphere good home cooking!! Everything is soo good I cant pick one dish over another one!
Best breakfast burritos in town. Try this over la pop next time, you wont regret it. And get a horchata!!
DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY HERE!!! THE FOOD IS FLAVORLESS!! I GOT THE 3 FAJITA PLATE AND IT CAME WITH DAYS OLD CHICKEN, BEEF AND 3 TINY SHRIMP!!! THERE WAS BARELY ANY ONION AT ALL AND 2 YES 2 SLIVERS OF BELL PEPPERS!!! THE SALSA IS A JOKE ITS TOMATO SAUCE WITH A HINT OF JALAPENO! AND WE HAD TO WAIT 20 MINUTES FOR OUR CHIPS AND SALSA AND THEY JUST BROUGHT THEM WITH THE FOOD! IM TELLING YOU THIS PLACE USE TO BE GOOD BUT NOW IT WENT STRAIGHT DOWN TO THE DUMPS...
This is not some $30 a plate Mexican place. This is the real deal. Good food. Great prices. DAMN tasty. You were looking for the place you needed to eat at for your last meal, here it is. I cannot say enough wonderful things about this place. If you are anywhere near Abilene, you would be making a life changing foolish mistake to not eat here.
This was a little stop on our way home from out West seeing the Caves in Carlsbad. We were hungry and needed a place with hot tasty food. We asked our friends from Abilene, but everything was closed besides fast food. Yelp reviewers rated this restaurant highly and was open til 8. Our GPS said wed make it at 7:30. GPS took us a little ways too far and we were about to hit a fast food joint when I saw it pass by my passenger window, "STOP!We pulled in at 7:35 and had to wake a sleeping kid as the other troops got a table. Once in I saw beef tongue tacos and knew what I wanted. Placing our orders I was told that I couldnt have my tacos. I asked if it was a lunch special. I didnt quite understand the response but ordered the chicken green soup instead. Not a thing to complain about. So good! Kids had wonderfully seasoned tacos. Hubby had barbacoa. Everything was hot and we felt great afterwards to continue our 4 hours drive. The staff was awesome. Always refilling, busting tables and making conversation. The patrons were quite nice and helped us locate the nearest gas station that would be open. Why are things closed (like gas stationsat 5:00 on Tuesdsy nights? Small town, but great little restaurant.
Absolutely delicious Salvadoran/ Mexican food. My favorites are the pupusas! Generous sized burritos for the same price as La popular and theyre yummy! My favorite burrito is barbacoa with onions & cilantro. Their hot sauce and menudo is really good too!
This is my go to place for Hispanic food. I love the papusas and street tacos. The salvadorian tamales are priced well. Their chips and salsa are really good too. I highly recommend this place for Hispanic style food.
I have nothing to compare it to except Mexican or text mex and it was differently delicious. My wife had the spinach enchiladas and I had the salvadorian plate. Tiny hole in the wall type place in a tiny strip center. Worth finding!!!
The best Salvadorian food Ive ever had. The pupusas are amazing. They also have great service.
Great food. Chips and salsa were fresh and tasty. Bean and cheese pupusas made fresh and were delicious!
I’ve been searching for a good authentic Mexican food place for about 6 months now. I was skeptical at first, but the amount of good reviews ended up leading me here. This place was AMAZING!!! My son had the kids nachos, and the queso was nothing like i have ever tasted before! It was soooo good! The plate was also HUGE! They could’ve been split between two kids. My husband had the spinach enchiladas. You could taste the fresh spinach in them. They put everyone else’s spinach enchiladas to shame. I had the jalapeño and cheese pupusa, as well as the chili rellano, and was in love!!! The pupusa was cooked to perfection, and the chili rellano was battered perfectly. Not too thick, not too thin. Just perfect. I am HIGHLY satisfied. Took about 10 to 15 for our food to come out. My only complaint would be the woman that took our drink orders at first, she wasn’t too friendly, as well as the salsa. Don’t get me wrong, it was delicious, but it was VERY spicy. Which was a plus for me, just not so much for my hubs. I definitely recommend this place
Very friendly staff and just fantastic food. Unique cuisine and a huge variety in the menu! We will be back!
Had the shepherds tacos. Very good. Will definitely be making a stop by there on my next trip through Abilene.
A hole-in-the-wall treasure. Great, authentic El Salvadoran cuisine. You cant go wrong here. The pupusas are tasty, and you get a lot of food for the price.
Simple environment for a restaurant. Totally non-pretentious. But the food is authentic and good. I had the spinach and cheese pupusa plate. It was as good as I have ever tasted and Ive had more than a few. The Masa in the tamale was light and fluffy and the chicken inside was juicy and seasoned right. If you was a taste of Mexico and El Salvador, try here.
The shepherds pork tacos were absolutely delicious. After stopping here for dinner on a road trip, I was craving it for days afterwards. Very affordable prices and generous portions made this place a great choice for my family.
Sooo good! I’ve been to El Salvador multiple times and the pupusas here taste just like the ones in El Salvador! Definitely my favorite place in town!
I loved this place! I got the the salvadorian plate.. had a little bit of everything and enjoyed every bite..
Because he thought has the best papusa. I havent seen a lot of El Salvadorian places to eat around town but if you are looking for in a Salvadorian food this is the best place to go.
Never had a bad meal here. Always great. Love all central America food
Amazing Food!! Papusas are Absolutely Amazing!! Come in different flavors. When paired with the pickled cabbage this makes the meal completely authentic and savory!! Best Salvadorian around! Thank you for the great flavors and portions. Also highly recommend the banana leaf tamales, they melt in your mouth.
This is the first place I got my self a barbacoa taco coming back to Texas after 15 years. Food is always great.
My favorite Latin American food in town! Great place to bring friends. Service is stellar and Ive never had a dish I didnt like!
This is our go to for Central American foods. Always fresh and made with care. Even takes a few custom orders that none of the chains will. Wonderful people, never had a bad experience there yet.
Such yummy foor! The El Salvadoran food was a new treat and their Mexican food is maybe the best in town. Love them!
Hole in the wall place, but the food is authentic and damn good. The tortilla, salsa, and chicken were amazing. Im glad I stopped here on my road trip
Food was fairly good but they had little kids who obviously belonged to someone that worked there taking a comfortable booth and we had to sit at a really uncomfortable table! Were both disabled so we were miserable!
Great food and friendly service. The fresh juice is after it is ordered from the fruit and vegetables. It is a healthy drink! We all enjoyed the fresh cooked food.
Friendly staff, witnessed firsthand staff in the back pulling and cutting meat (fresh). Quick service to go or dine in... Delicious pastor!
Food was excellent! It was our first time eating here but my Husband and I both liked it very much. Tacos are the best!
It was a nice little hole-in-the-wall. The food is El Salvadoran/Tex-Mex. The agua frescas were great.
The pupusas are amazing! I am a fan now. Prices are good and the portions are generous. Service is great. Never had pupusas before. They came to me hot, cheesy, and flavorful. I got the cheese a jalapeno ones and on the outside the cheese was perfectly grilled onto the masa tortilla and the inside was filled with fresh and stringy cheesy goodness. I was really into enchiladas but now pupusas are my favorite.
This is a hole in the wall youll be glad you stumbled into. Food is good and service is prompt. Plus everything is very reasonable priced. Seafood soup is my favorite.
This place has good authentic food at reasonable prices. They are attentive and nice. Family dining that is not over seasoned like most chain restaurants. I liked it alot and we ordered way too much food.
wow how is this place even in business, i walked in around 4pm for a late lunch and the owner and his wife are in a booth listening to some religious music, she has her head down on the table, a little girl at another table falling asleep, a boy and 2 other older boys sitting in a booth opposite side of the parents all looked tired falling asleep or sleep, that is not good for business and they didnt seem to care, i ordered a barbacoa burrito and ate it there, the meat idk what it was but it wasnt anything i tasted before, it was cold and bland... how these places stay in business is beyond me cause the service was horrible, the atmosphere was even more horrible and the food, i wouldnt feed that to a homeless dog...
By far my favorite place to eat THE BEST Mexican food in town! They serve VERY satisfying portions and have entree selections that you cant get ANYWHERE else in Abilene. The prices are awesome too! Friendly Owner, Good Food, & Great Value!
Just ate there for the first time and it was delicious! Small place, but clean and the waitress was very friendly. We will definitely be back!
I havent had much here. My dad told me I had to go here when I was back in town. So I was... and I did. I had 3 burritos and HOLY WOW. Best burritos Ive had in forever. Amazing!
