El Masry - Restaurant in Aswan, Egypt
El Masry in Aswan
Description
Privilege
A bit overpriced and they don’t take credit card.
Nice food and good service
OK. This is not a place where typical tourists go. This is a local spot. No A/C but fans and clean tables and helpful friendly staff and management. We had wonderful tasty dishes. The Nile fish was well presented. It was fried accompanied with rice and salad. Crust was crispy and not oily and the fish was soft inside. Very tasty. The eggplant was delicious though not spicy. I tried the very local dish (not on the menucalled Mulokheya or something like that. It is a green leafy plant made into a light soupy consistency. It was not to my taste since it was on the slimy side but it did have a tempering of garlic. Tasty sort of in a different way. We enjoyed our meal. The rice was mixed with vermicelli. If you want to try real local food without fear, then this is the place.
MoreThe food was so nice and tasty 😋
Lunch with a friend on the advice of our hotel. Bear in mind the proprietors do not speak English but it all works out fine, and the menu is simple English.I ordered the Lamb dish which appeared to have a number of appetisers before it was served. All the food was absolutely delicious and I would go again. The restaurant tables are arranged in booths so it is difficult to get the attention of staff, but apart from that no real complaints.
MoreGood food, very tasty, abundant portions, but instead the prices are on the cart, always check the account.
MoreExcellent local food and best hospitality, it worths trying, specially if you had enough of the buffet food on the cruise.
MoreLovely restaurant with very friendly staff and a small but nice selection of local food. Prices are excellent.Around the corner from the souk in a lively shopping street.
MoreDespite the amount of positive reviews and the food price and how tiny it is (place, portion and food variety).. the place is extremely overrated.. food, cleanness and service were very "so so" .. drinks are far less than okay .. the only advantage is the experience itself!
MoreGood price,very delicious!
Food is very goodPlace is very goodStuff is goodRestroom is ok
Great food nice people. We were fed during Ramadan and they gave us free crème caramel and dates
MoreAmazing!!!very good service, lots of food and very savoury, just make sure you are hungry!!!this is just the entrees,so order small!!I will come back and recommend
MoreHi it was overall a bad experience they are overpriced we ordered lots of items one of which was stuffed vegetables which they have said it includes wine leaves when it came it had none when we asked they mentioned it is finished the pigeon was not tasty mixed grill was ok the salad v over priced the location was the worst place it is inside the market I world not recommend it
Moretasty food prepared in local ways, presented in clay plates and tajins in generous portions. Speedy service and fresh food. Very affordable and "real" food experience and smiling staff
MoreNice place and staff, delicious food but a bit expensive. This is a follow up to my original review, Quality decreasing.
MoreGreat food for a good price. We were worried it might be a little too touristy but it actually isn’t. Definitely worth it!
MoreDespite being a small restaurant, yet, it was a great experience.Clean, waiters are very friendly (Mr. Sultan )Very fast food serving while being fresh !I loved their salad collection and taste.Okra and molokhya were marvellous.Moza lamb meat and mix grill were fantastic
MoreDont go! Not worth the hype or prices. Service was horrible and food was sub par. They didnt even give us the entire menu. Small portions and overpriced. The food had no salt and flavorless. Service was non existent and its included in the price. I would avoid this place and eat elsewhere.
MoreSaw this place on Google and so glad I came! Food was so yummy and the service was great! Hussain looked after us so well and gave us a great personalised service. Also love that the restaurant has been around since 1958!
MoreLovely place with tasty food. Fair price and super friendly owner. Will back again.
MoreRecommended by locals (and not surprisingly, filled with locals at dinnerfor authentic Egyptian. Really enjoyed the mixed grill and the stuffed pigeon. Would recommend this over other restaurants in the city.
MoreGrab a seat and dig into a blast to your senses. All appetizers and main courses are delicious. Service was great and you get a real feel of the authenticity. Don’t know when I’ll be back, but surely I will be craving the dishes from here. Aloha and Mahalo from Hawaii 🤙🏽
MoreOur guide Amr brought us here for dinner. I chose the stuffed pigeon of course ;-It was yummy but not much meat on the bird.
MoreVery good food, amount more than what we expected. Get ready for a big dinner mate.Cheers from Australia
MoreThe staff are kind and cool 😊The place is clean, elegant and has beautiful decorations. The food is great and the service was amazing.Side dishes are wholesome ❤️
MoreWe had this recommended by our taxi driver. Menu is small, but the selection is good. We had the grilled pigeon and the creme caramel. Food was nice and they served a lot of snacks and appetizers with the food. Our waiter was friendly and charismatic and not pushy at all! Overall, this is a nice place to go for a meal.
MoreTo be honest, despite being quite disappointed with the veggie meal, I was not going to write a bad review. Changed my mind though when the waiter tried to really cheat me with the price in dollars. He insisted and even got rude before leaving.
MoreThe place is over rated in google! If the food wouldnt be such a low quality, then wouldnt be a problem with the price.I checked before to come the reviews and the pictures with the menue published here.Nothing to do with that!Possible that is a menu for tourists with almost 100% more expensive.I had a fish fille, cos i dont eat meat and was a frozen fish, floured and fried. Full of oil and without any taste! The soup was more a boiled water without taste.Price in the menu from pictures published a few weeks ago 85Le / in this menu 150Le.You dont have to let them tips, cos they will charge you anyway with +10% service tax.Totally not recommended! Are better places in to eat for this money!
MoreI liked everything they served us. Had the fish meal and they served some starters, all tasted good. Price was 110LE for fish meal (fish plus starters was large enough to feed 2 people).
MoreAl Masry is a reliable choice if you would like a traditional Egyptian grilled meal. We ordered the mixed grill (120LEand vegetarian meal (50LE). This includes soup, rice, vegetables and salad.
MoreFood was average. Good service
Quality of the food was average but disappointed with the high price by the add-ons, it was supposed to be +24% as it’s written at the very bottom on the menu but they ended up charging you 34%
MoreNice place with good varieties but little food quantities and expensive
My second visit to the restaurant and I still believe it is one of the best dining options in Aswan. It is not a fine dining restaurant nor is it cheap. Nonetheless, the quality and taste are worth the price.Nice and friendly staff.
MoreFood was great. We were worried the food was going to be somebody else’s leftover (as mentioned in one of the reviews), but it didn’t look like it. Starters came out first, and entre later on.We had 1/2 chicken and chicken shish taouk. Waiter was friendly. At the end of the meal we got toothpicks and chewing gums. Definitely good place to try.
MoreGreat local food along with fast ank kind service. Close to unmissable market.
Friendly staff and nice interior style.Kofta and chicken were the best dishesKebab, vegetables, soup and salads were normalYou may need to ask as some dishes are not listed in their menu
MorePlace is cozy and quiet. Friendly staff. We tried Fattah, Kofta, grilled chicken and tajeens, and they were great. Kebab and Lamb Cottle were underwhelming. Portions were some how small except for the Fattah.
MoreGood food, good service, reasonable prices
Food is good but staff is not professional
Good one with good food and service, and above all its cheap
Love it. Good food, fair price. Portion a bit too much.
The staff were very friendly and helpful. The food taste is good, not special, but the portions are very small. We were 4 persons and ordered 4 main courses, two teas, and paid 500 EGP. I would recommend to visit the restaurant, but try to order Grills by kilo better than main courses.
MoreGood service, not bad prices either. 270 for two mains and three drinks. When you order a main you get 4 mezzes, bread and a starter soup included.
MorePros : Delicious Egyptian dishes , clean ,good for groups , vegetarian food is served as well.Cons : the staffs English is horrible. No variations in salads .
Moreawesome place with the sense of Art & delicious food in the center of Aswan
Food is good and abundant, lentille soup is amazing. Staff is a little forgetful, but the amounts and quality of food make up for it.
MoreAuthentic kitchen, tasty food, reasonable prices.
The best restaurant in aswan
