This archaeological museum in a Roman villa–style building features local artifacts & nearby ruins.
Well intact coliseum. Very interesting. Can explore the lower level also. Well worth the visit.
the ticket price is included with the colossium so go here after if you have time! The mosaic art is truly amazing
Great museum that is absolutely worth visiting. There are great mosaics and archaeological remainings that can be visited by yourself or with a tourist guide. The ticket is the same that you get to visit the amphitheatre.
Beautiful mosaics, very precise work that surprised me with its age. Definitely worth a visit to El Jem.
Beautiful mosaic are displayed in this museum. Its worth a visit if youre there
Bought me back to the pass ambient
Roman archaeological site worth visiting
Nice place to visit, see ancient Roman in Africa
Nice museum … however not much to see!
Nice place to spend an afternoon
A great and exciting experience to be there and to remember how difficult those times were for some people.
A fabulously preserved collection of mosaics and statues & other smaller pottery items at this site. Outside, are many more still in situ within the grounds of the many dwellings which you are free to wander around. I could almost feel the history watching me! This is another great site to visit on your trip to Tunisia. If you like this collection, try the Sousse Archaeological Museum too.
Small museum featuring only mosaics, but they have a lot of them and many are very impressive. Admission is included with your El Jem ticket.
Safe placeSurvenir stores close to the placeNo parking at the front, and not too much space to take pictures from the front .
Possibly the very best preserved Roman mosaics you are going to see, anywhere in the world.
Great place, definitely worth to visit, especially for history geeks. Itd take minimum 30 min to browse. Really rare stuff. If only the surroundings were clearer.
This amphitheatre is better than the coliseum in Rome, it is more intact for a start, the below ground parts of the amphitheatre, stables etc are almost as they were when the Romans left well worth a visit.
Its amazing
Amazing mosaics displayed in mostly natural light along with some ceramics. Information plaques well placed.
Wow and I mean wow! This museum is incredible! From a humble entrance to an amazing collection of mosaics and artefacts which sprawls into a restored expanse of ruins. Your entrance to the amphitheater also gets you access here but only on the same day and it’s well worth checking out
I took a train from Tunis to came here that was 3hr 45min one way and return was delayed three hours. It was fun experience that I’ve never had except in Italy.I’ve seen many colosseum but this one is must see. There is ancient amphitheater at the other side of railroad. I didn’t see any tourist but if you have a time , please go there too.
The collection of mosaics is amazing. The place inspired me to change floor in my bathroom 😉
So nice❤
very nice place, mosaic museum, next to archaeological excavations
Good place. You can enter using the same tickets that you bought for the amphitheater
Included in your ticket for the amphitheatre this place is often overlooked but well worth the 10 minute walk to see one of the best collections of Roman mosaics anywhere.
Very interesting mosaics and great architecture and history.
A fascinating little museum with gorgeous mosaics, interesting artifacts, and a handful of ancient homes. The real treasure here, however, was the gentleman curator who gave me a tour of the place! He had a wealth of knowledge, was eager to converse, and really made each piece come to life. Really a must-see is you’re at the amphitheater anyway.
Great place, such wonderful history. Loads of street sellers for cheap souvenirs and a perfect morning out.
Went to a Mosaic museum near ElJem Colussium, our tour guide explained the history around the mosaics on show.
Lovely place. Tour guide showed us around
I went to El Jem after spending half a day at the Bardo in Tunis. And I have to say that the Museum here is as equally impressive as the national museum. It is much smaller but has outstanding mosaics. Many devoted to images of the sea but also some great impressions of the gruesome activities in the nearby Ampitheatre. The museum is a short 5 to 10 minute walk turning right after you leave the Ampitheatre, and the price is included on the same ticket. Well worth a visit.
Amazing collection. Not very large so nice to walk round.
Extremely well preserved Roman mozaics that tell beautifull stories. After the amphiteather, this is the place to vistit in El Jem!
My pictures will ask you to visit the place.
This museum is more interesting than Bardo museum.. It is just amazing
The mosaics are well preserved and pretty. The roman residence is mostly just a remake but it is pretty and gives a good idea about the layout of the residence. You can use the same ticket you fir the amphitheatre for this museum.
Just an amazing place to visit a must see if you get a chance to look around
An extraordinary collection of mosaic tile art from the 2nd and 3rd centuries awaits, some so vivid it is hard to believe they are tiles. A must-see for those visiting this region.
This is a small museum dedicated to the mosaics from around the region. There are many well preserved mosaics depicting everything from plants that grow in the region to muses. There is also the ruins of African house that has many well preserved mosaics dotted around the many rooms the coat is 10 Dinar and a photograph ticket costs one Dinar. If you are in El Jem it is definitely worth a visit on your way to the colosseum.
Great bit of history
Nice little museum if you are interested in Mosaics. You probably saw enough for a lifetime at the Bardo Museum, but if you’ve come all the way to el-Jem for the amphitheater, you might as well stop in - museum is included with the amphitheater ticket.
Pretty good place, can learn about more about the history of Roman Mosaics.
Amazingly preserved Roman mosaics dating from 2nd and 3rd centuries AD. As good as the Bardot museum in Tunis. If youre interested in such things youll take an hour or more to look around, not the 15 minutes indicated by some reviewers. It only takes ten minutes to walk here from the collosaeum in the centre of town.
Stunning collection of Roman mosaics in small but very nicely maintained museum. Would definitely recommend visiting. And as a bonus, you can use the same entrance ticket for the El Jem colosseum.
Very nice place, well conserved mosaics, informative panels, nice outdoor. I would suggest to have a guide, otherwise youll be out in 20 min. Same ticket for el jem amphitheater. Tip: first Sunday of each month its free for Tunisian ppl and residents!
Worth visiting. Make your way thdough to the villa and ruins out the back.
Worth visiting after your tour of El Jam amphitheaterIts about 15 minutes walk from there and already included in the 10 D ticket. Many large paintings on the walls and floors which are actually made by colourful mosaics rather than paint. There are also many statues ( mostly headlessas well as a large archaeological site at the back know as roman houses.Toilets on site and easy street parking.
Excellent museum with wonderful collection of mosaics. Also there is an archaeological site in the backyard.
Such great mosaics. This museum is not very big but the quality of its mosaics is just outstanding.
