El Italiano in Montevideo

Recommended to us as a great place for seafood. Food was so so. Shrimp in Panko was hard and tasteless without the sauce, swordfish was over cooked and dry. The service was totally unacceptable. After two hours of waiting, eating, and waiting again for dessert and the bill to come we finally got up paid and left with dessert to go.

Fresh seafood while dining with great views and friendly birds. Good service and prime location.

Quality and quantity was great. The taste was also good. We ordered the fish platter. The staff were very friendly and will suggest to try best . Overall it was a good experience.

I came recently with my kids. They were super friendly, there was an awaiting list, tho they prioritized us due to the kids (3 years old twins). We ordered a Placha Mista! It was super generous, all the 4 of us had plenty and zero waste! We will definetly be coming back since I never dare to fry seafood and home and over there is the freshest you can get!

Great seafood restaurant despite the name. Pasta is on the menu but this is a seafood place. Excellent good and good service.

This Restaurant was really tasty fresh seafood and the pasta was amazing so good I forgot to take a pick if your looking for a great Italian meal with the emphasis on seafood this is definitely the place also the Flan was the best part of the whole meal don’t miss out desserts I’m from the 🇺🇸 and I’m visiting Uruguay and I’m glad I stumbled across this restaurant I highly recommend it

We were told it was the best place to eat. In my opinion not so much. Too much breaded seafood. Mt calamari was fried so hard it was unenforceable. However my vegetable plate was the best I had while in Montevideo.

I don’t understand the many positive ratings. The fish was tasteless, the potato I got accompanying the fish was cold and cooked without salt. And that for a pretty high price compared to the quality one gets.It was kind of disappointing. The stuff was nice though. But what this restaurant needs is a real cook.

Great location near the sea, average interior, male washroom in rather poor condition.Service of seemingly recently employed person refreshingly friendly and efficient.Before meal offered bread cold, unappealing and tasteless. Ensalada Completa large, without touch of freshness or crunchiness. The very generous portion of Wok salmon OK, accompanying vegetables overcooked. Fried shrimps with teriyaki sauce: breaded crumbs outside appealing, warm and crunchy; shrimps inside undercooked and cold.Highlight of todays lunch was the 2017 Emilia Nieto Senetiner Malbec from Argentina.Altogether a mediocre experience in a great location; not recommend for foodies.(As often the case in fancy places where they add a completely invented cover charge the waiter asked to pay the tip in cash and not to add it to the card payment... "store policy")

This restaurant is located right where the fishing boats bring their daily catches of fresh fish. This restaurant is absolutely the best seafood restaurant in Uruguay. They offer indoor and outdoor dining. Although they seat up to 200+ patrons, please call for a reservation because they are always busy. Yes, they food is so good, they are always swamped. They serve a large specialty platter of assorted seafood, called the "Sinfonia" will take care of the whole family, and it is mouth watering. The picture below is a 1/2 "Sinfonia". Enjoy!

Good place for lunch or dinner when the weather is nice. Cheap and cheerful restaurant in Puerto Buceo. Food is pretty good, although portions tend to be on the large side, so order accordingly. Very casual. Seafood only! Unfortunately, not on the water.

Very mediocre! The portions are pretty big and they charge 160 uyu for cubiertos which is above the average in Montevideo. You would need cash for tips.

Great food, huge portions, fantastic prices!

Amazing deal. Portions are for giants. Can only rate based on the one large dish that was a wonderful mix of their fish and seafood. Extremely heavy. Unfortunately, not even 5 grown men could finish this one platter. 5 stars on quantity, 3 stars on quality.

A nice place if youre in the mood for seafood; particularly enjoyable during summertime.

The food was excellent. Our waitress, Andrea was excellent. One problem. We only had credit cards. Wanted to tip our waitress adding it to our credit cards. Could not do it. Tips have to be in cash.

It is what it is. A simple seafood grill and fry-up spot on the water. No surprises, nothing creative, but for the most part, well cooked and seasoned food. Service is friendly but lackadaisical.

Nice place to eat sea food, specially during summer.

Went on a windy cold winter night. Atmosphere was very classy. Service was excellent, wine was delicious. We asked for a selection so we can try a few things and our server helped us pick the perfect combination. The octopus was once of the best I ever had, the fried calamary was the best Ive had, and the fish was perfectly done. Coffee and desert followed. The flan and dolce de leche was great the other two cakes were a bit too frozen, but we enjoyed them nevertheless. My friends who were local said three places is great during nicer weather with sitting out side, but plan on sinners wait for a table. Highly recommend this restaurant.

El Italiano is the Mc Donalds of Sea food. Still I would like to recommend the "media sinfonia" that is good for 2 or 3 people.Everything seems to be fresh, my only issue with the place is that they fry sea food way too much

Excellent food and attention, been here a couple times already so I can confirm those arent random occurrences. Prices have come up quite a bit, though. Despite of that this is still a great place to go, have a good time and eat good seafood.

Great seafood, try the Frutti di Mare. Service is average, space is cramped inside but spacious outside.
