El Hermoso Mar in Santa Cruz

The costumer service was good, but the food was really bad, I ask for a cocktail and it tasted weird, I don’t recommend this place.

I hated the food. It was a 40min wait, just to be disappointed with our food. Worst $50 bucks spent. There was a pool of oil in the container they put my tacos in. Carnitas tasted boiled no flavor and mostly fat. The Tortas was a big disappointment as well. The one thing that was okay was the bean and cheese burrito. Save your money. The only reason this place is open is because people are hungry and its close to the boardwalk.

Super cute place, the lighting is very nice and the view of the boardwalk is very pleasing.The food was plated very nicely, and their wasnt a *lot* of service-- but thats just the style since you order at the counter then go seat yourself, which is fine by me!The food was also out very quick, def would come back here! :)

Canned beans, hard rice, tasteless food. so disappointed

Big disappointment!! poorly cooked food, tasteless! no sauces and they dont even give you tortillas! !! according to that Mexican food "but its not... expensive and bad service, the waiter delivered one of our dishes to another table! and then brought it to us when he realized his mistake! but he had already left it in another table within reach of other people......

Great location to have a thriving authentic Mexican restaurant, too bad this isnt it. I tried the seafood appetizer. After trying the ceviche with way too much salt, it made my saladitas crackers taste dull like expired taste.

WONDERFUL GUACAMOLE the guacamole made my heart explode with joy. Maybe it was because I was very hungry, maybe it was because there was a myriad of complex flavors. It was likely both.

Food was pretty mid. No salsa for the burrito and it was super dry. Beans and rice tasted lifeless and didnt have seasoning. Margarita was a solid 7/10 though. The chips and salsa were mid. The salsa didnt even have flavor.

Fantastic everything at this wholesome spot. Whatever they do, theyre doing it correctly! Go here and eat/drink everything.

Be warned that some items on the menu dont have prices so if youre here at the wrong time youll pay 14.00 for a michelada. Its beer with tomatoe juice.

The staff interaction was highly uncomfortable. The food seem like it was prepackaged. My friend had a quesadilla and it was extremely greasy to the point where the entire plate was puddled in it... The food looked like it was completely slapped together with no effort to make a good presentation. The service was horrible and the staff didnt even check up on us like most restaurants should. To anybody wanting actual authentic Mexican food go somewhere else. I do not look for negative things but this place was so bad. I wouldnt even call it a restaurant its more fast food than anything.

Authentic Mexican food right across from the beach and boardwalk. Prices average to any restaurant. They were very friendly and nice atmosphere. Would definitely go back.

The food and the staff were amazing. We all had different things (burrito, shrimp and quesadillaall of it was awesome. The guy working the front was awesome as well. Would definitely recommend this place.

This place literally gave us food poisoning. I had tilapia fish from here and I threw up several times..my stomach hurt for a while and I could stop gagging. They charged us 40 dollars for a plate of enchiladas and tilapia fish and I got totally sick from the tilapia..never doing that again!

Good selection of vegetarian food. A little on the expensive side but that’s to be expected given that it’s so close to the boardwalk. Good selection of drinks and excellent customer service.

We ate dinner here. They had run out of ground beef which I though proved their food was good. This place was busy during our entire dinner. Several in our party ate seafood dinners which were delicious. One of our orders was incorrect but the staff immediately served a new correct meal. Although crazy busy the staff was efficient and friendly.

Place is bomb Mexican food. A bit pricey but its on par with Central Valley style Mexican (which is the best). Very nice people. I make sure I go here every time I visit.

Food is very good and prices are great. The place looks nice as well and usually not very crowded.

While on spring break we decided to stop here, and have lunch. An excellent choice. We all ordered different versions of the carnitas. I had carnita nachos, my brother had the carnitas super burrito,my daughter had carnita tacos . Nephew had carnita burrito also.Can you tell our family loves carnitas!😋😂😍

Boardwalk fare can be hit or miss and this place is a definite miss. While the food is plentiful, it is not seasoned well and we found ourselves devouring a bottle of Tapatio for flavor. If you are hungry after a day at the boardwalk, do yourself a favor and wander away from this restaurant. It will not satisfy that urge and need for flavorful tacos or carnitas. There are many other yummy selections just steps away.

Burito was nice, the friend shrimps were flat , and weird looking. Fast food for someone to that looking for fast grab.

The people who work here are really friendly and welcoming. The ambiance is good for a quick sit down meal. We ordered burritos and tacos and none of it was great. We ate our food mainly because it was what we paid for for dinner. The guacamole was nicely flavored but nothing else stood out as high quality or very fresh. Wouldn’t go back.

Restaurant was only a third full, but still took 34 minutes to get a burrito and fish and chips after ordering at the counter. Food was acceptable, but not great. No free chips and salsa.

Decent food, lots of vegetarian options. Tastes good, and more genuine than any of the Boardwalk food, so logically gets really crowded on summer nights. Would come around 7:30pm to miss the rush, or get takeout at 5pm to miss lining up. However, food is made quite quickly, and there’s free chips & salsa as well as water while you wait, plus a nice TV and lively atmosphere. Overall cozy, but not mind blowing. Would come again though!

Its okay food, not the most authentic Mexican food. Couple years ago the food was amazing. Its probably a new chef

Food was overpriced for what you get, took a long time to get to you. If you come here, dont get the fish tacos, very fishy and impossible to eat because the tortillas are soaked.

Good food. Took forever to order, but food come out quickly. Small out door seating, lots of indoor seating as well. They serve beer as well.

Staff was very friendly and outgoing, Gentelmen taking orders at counter was very welcoming food was great! Definitely will return again! Check it out next time your by the boardwalk

Victor is AWESOME! Came in for lunch after a morning at the boardwalk and Victor was there to help! He pointed out a few things we might like, gave us great options for the kids. And let us know where we could get some great seats on the boardwalk to eat, since we were going back over and taking our food to go. I would go in again just for how nice he was!But the staff isn’t the only plus. The food was really good, nothing fancy just NORMAL food, like Mom would make. I got a veggie fajita burrito, with chips and guacamole. My kids shared a fully loaded taco salad and my husband got a fish burrito and chips and salsa ! I think all of it only came to 35.00We’ll totally eat there again

The two stars are for staff friendliness and prompt service. The food is overpriced and tasteless. I only finished my meal because other places nearby were already closed for the day and I paid a lot for it. Not returning.

Tasty food. Everyone was happy. Had lunch on quiet Sunday with the family. Shrimp tacos very good.

Good location friendly staff!! Portions were huge and the food was subpar! Got tacos and burrito and meat was cold in both also place was a little dirty it was the middle of the afternoon though. Busy place so can be a bit deceiving!

Excellent service, friendly servers! Very helpful in making your dining experience the best it can be. Reasonable prices and decent food, especially in the area of high-priced restaurants right next to the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk.

We had the pork burrito and fish tacos and it was good. It was a very good quality price!!

Food was tasty and good quality. Try the fish taco and seafood tostada. The chips and salsa were really simple and authentic.

Best place we have visited during our road trip through California. The people there were so helpfull and nice and the food was amazing, I havent been able to find a burrito as good as the one I had there 👌🏽

Not terrible. Shredded chicken is ok and they have a great beer selection, but the food is pretty mid-grade. Im not sure what people are expecting from a touristy boardwalk. I definitely didnt think it was awful, but its not fine fare.

This spot is really genuinely tasty! The flavors are great, portions are big. Its probably the best thing to eat on the boardwalk.

Nothing special the food lacked flavor and was a bit overpriced, only came here because Tampico closed down. That place I loved!
