El Glaoui Palace - Tourist attraction in Taza, Morocco
I found the palace amazing.
Stunning palace without the tourists. Probably the best kept secret in town. Definitely worth visiting. The gatekeeper is also an accomplished artist and exhibits his paintings in one of the rooms.
It looks really nice inside but theres no info about the price until you leave this place whats kinda scam for me
This palace, surprisingly ousted from tourist circuits, is well worth a visit. Built at the beginning of the 19th century, it served as a residence for the Glaoui of Marrakech when he traveled to Fez. It has not been used since the 1950s but retains zelliges, worked stucco, magnificent doors... Abdou, a plastic artist with a singular personality, was born there and still lives there. He will be happy to introduce you to the place by telling you its story. He also exhibits his works in the palace, which gives it a charming squat side of artists.
Lovely

Must see!
It is a hidden jewel of Fez. It is completely original without restored, the architecture, the art...everything is amazing. Not many tourists there during my visit, I guess it is not in the top lists of tourist attractions. The guardian Mr Abdou is an artist with his Galary inside the palace. It is a very nice Galary. It is the best experience of my visit in Fez.
Exceeded expectations. For 25 dirhams, this spectacular crumble palace is well worth your time. Plus you can chat with Abdou :)
Didnt enter but from the courtyard and entrance looked absolutely stunning.
Need to be restored
I am taking you today to BHALIL : the charm of the night, located at an altitude of 2550 feet and only 16 miles distant from Fez Morocco. In this village up to now live 44 families in TROGLODIT houses.
Beautiful historic palace. Just to add a note, the man who watches the front entrance and takes your money to enter the palace is also the artist whose paintings are going through out there entire palace complex.
Google map drives us to get lost and come to the wrong direction after 2 hours for estimated 10 minutes walking. Far from main spots. Badly maintained. In all, It is so far to be a palace and not worth few hours to come
We think weve arrived and are pretty sure were in the right place because of the news articles blown up at the door. We enter a construction zone but find the courtyard where the artist (and resident?was praying. After he noticed us, he warmly let us in. We paid 50 dirham for the both of us.Its an interesting place to visit. Its falling apart but I also think that adds to the charm. There was a lot of his art that I think you can buy.Dont be alarmed if its closed, I think he just goes about his day and opens when hes there. He walked us out and closed down as soon as we left.
Everything was closed despite we were there at Thursday at ~13-14h. And no sign explaining why.
The Google Maps location is on the wrong side!! Don’t follow the directions as they bring you to the wrong location.Once you find it, fascinating place worth checking out
Ok
Cant go in
Special piece of history; but it is not well maintained. The guardian of the building , who is also an artist, applies prices randomly.
Very charming, grand house in disrepair. Worth visiting
Place to avoid, far away from main spots, difficult to find and badly maintained.Lazy clerk who rest on his couch among old stuff and junk not moving a muscle while pretending us to pay a fee.A total waste of time.
Beautiful and peaceful building; the best place we visited in Fes. It is completely relaxed, with a large display of art by the building resident, and some other interesting quirks such as a record and camera collection. Yes the building is falling apart in some places, but it really adds to the charm. Also a gorgeous dog on the premises!
Closed until 2019
Magnifique.
Incredible place. Needs some finding and some funding
Very unpleasant guide/owner.
Needs much work, not worth the price of admission
Needs a lot of work.
Nice place, but not very special. An artist lives there and exhibits his paintings, which are also quite nice.
Very interesting
Up the hill and hard to find but worth it for 25 dirham each. Finally, an attraction in Fes non-Muslims can actually enter! Don’t miss any of the rooms and especially not the hidden courtyard behind the kitchen. And the room with the stained glass accessible from that courtyard. :)
One of the hidden gems of Fez. A beautiful old palace with an old Artist living there.
A very interesting attraction. The man that lives there said his family has owned it for over 200 years and its the most interesting and beautiful building we visited in Fes. It is a bit run down but that adds to the charm and we received a bit of a personal tour as we were the only ones thereThere was no-one at the door to take an entrance fee, but the owner/guide escorted us to the front and I asked him how much we owed. We didnt feel any pressure to pay, and its not clear there was a fee so we werent really sure what the story was until I asked. We paid 60 dirhams for two people
Beautiful place. You need a guide. The woman at the door told us the entrance plus guided tour was 25 DH each, but gave us no tickets. Make sure you pay the right price. She was very nice though as a guide. She walked us through the ground rooms which were impressive. The top floor rooms cannot be visited. An artist lives there apparently. The family who owns the palace restaurates one room per year with the raised funds.
The palace is very interesting. Artists live in the palace and try to maintain it. The price of admission is used for maintaining / restoring the palace. The entry price includes a guide. It makes sense to have a guide given most of the palace is not open to viewing.
The very essence of faded grandeur
