El Fant - Coffee & Wine Bar in Helsinki
Description
Privilege
Great selection, reasonably priced and nice staff.
Really nice cake buffet. Price 11.90 special price normally 13.90. Includes coffee and cake buffet. Cakes are tasty. Service was a bit slow because place is small and its crowded. I would like the option of a speciality coffee such as espresso or machhiato
MorePretty poor service, rude, slow and the place is also not super clean. What is the point to state the the place opens at 10:00 am if that really mean that the employees are just coming at 10:00 am starting not with their guests but doing their own routines and cleaning up the mess from yesterday?Once ordering hand brew I have received a come to that I have to wait, and I was really the first one there. And yes I have been waiting for the stuff to fix their place first, but not to proceed with my order.
MoreVery nice breakfast and friendly staff
Decent cup of coffee, but didnt try any of the desserts as they just looked ok.
Excellent coffee and Cheese cake
Simple but nice place, I had hot chocolate with marshmallow there; it was ok, nothing outstanding but still good
MoreThe location is great and the place cosy but 6,90€ for a piece of dry brownie (only chocolate available pastryis not my cup of tea
MoreI remembered this as small specialty coffee place. Came back to Helsinki after years and this doesnt seem to be about coffee anymore - no batch brew, had to inquire about type of coffee used (no selection!for pourover... Just uff. There seems to be much more food now, even full plates.Giving 3 as it might be okay, just disapponting for me.
MoreBit strange. Croissant and a Coffee should be €5.90. Apparently however an Americano doesnt count as a coffee so charged €7.20. Croissant was good though.
MoreIt was one of my favorite coffee places in Helsinki. Visited some days ago and was super disappointed. The main door is broken (not a big deal). One of the tables was covered by paper bags for delivery. Barista didnt ask about milk for cappuccino. After all cappuccino wasnt tasty. We didnt get spoons. My cup had a coffee stain from preparation. Rather expensive. Heard that there was no filter coffee (on Sunday!). The table was covered with some crumbs. Also, heard from a friend that toilet wasnt working. We were there just a little bit earlier than closing, but blinking lights every few minutes gave pressure to leave. Super sad to have such experience and got the feeling that I dont want to come again. Goodbye, El Fant!
MoreThe filter coffee was fine. However the brunch was only okay and theres definitely room for improvement. "Flät no 14 " café is one good example of a place that knows how to improve the taste of simple food like avocado :)
MoreA delightful hole-in-the-wall down-a-side-street establishment with very nice offerings in a mellow environment.
MoreVery nice food and environment.
I love the coffee here (I take cappuccino with oatand their cakes are absolutely delicious and unique if you like this type of creamy cakes.Their pastry and cake variety changes on a daily basis so every time I come here I find something new.Service is exceptional, the staff is super friendly and welcoming.I also tried the brunch which didn’t have much variety but was good.
MoreLovely coffee shop 2 steps from the market placeCharming décoration and staff friendly
MoreI ate great salmon poke powl lunch here resently, and really enjoyd calming atmosphere and bossanova music during busy day. I really like this place in old Helsinki quarters!
MoreTeriyaki chicken salad. Tasty salad and friendly service.
The flamed salmon was fantastically delicious! I love sushi and disassemble version of it was fresh idea.
MoreGreat coffee and tea selectionDefinately one of my most favorite coffee shop in HelsinkiI would recommend cafe latte with oat milk, salmon bow and carrot cake
MoreI regret not knowing this place before.I went to visit Elfant coffee and winebar on a rainy day in Helsinki (i wanted to know this place as a strong recommendation from a friend). From the moment I walked through the door, I fell in love with the cozy atmosphere immediately. Not forget to mention, the staff were really friendly and the cashier greeted me with a warm smile that made me feel at home. All I ordered was a cup of flat-white, but it was a super delicious and authentic taste. Also, the background music was relaxing and calm not like most places in Helsinki. It’s worth a visit and I will come back real soon!
MoreThe quality of the food and the variation was amazing BUT I’m giving 3 stars only because of the customer service. Regarding the customer service, when we ordered the waitress put all the items you see in the picture in the one tray and she looked at me to take the tray. I felt weird because the tray looked really heavy but I carried it anyway. I worked as a waitress and I would have never let a customer carry so much stuff. She could have at least split the items over two trays, and helped. Other than that, the quality and the ambiance are amazing!
MoreA lovely, calm atmosphere and the location is just lovely! Their oat latte was really nice but I wished there was more vegan options. When I visited there was no savory vegan options but they did have a vegan cake and a lunch option!
MoreGood breakfast packages with great value for money, nice matching of plates and quality of ingredients. Cosy environment, just a few steps away from the Cathedral and Senate square. Worth visiting also just for a coffee stop (their selection of cakes is also very inviting).
MoreGood seating and decor but the coffee tasted like Folgers crystals and was delivered by a waitress who poured it so aggressively it splashed over the cup and onto the table. These things happen but usually the waitress might say “oops” or “sorry” or bring a towel or even clean up the fluid. In this case she silently walked away.
MoreGreat staff- matcha latte and coffee- which is good but again there are many great voffee places in this town.I used to like this place so much but-now the cakes quality and taste is not the same.Polenta cake tastes awful now/ wayyyy too sweet - why- it already has a sugar on top! , it has almost no nuts, and way too many raisins and it feels wet sticky inside with some terrible syrup / yet the polenta itself seems completely uncooked and raw crunchy.Weird. Jut tastes really sweet and unhealthy now. That was the highlight of all cakes and now is just terrible. The only tasty GF option is as bad as the other gf option.Time to change the cafeteria? :((((
MoreHad lunch in this cozy cafe. Just 9.5 Euro, I got a bowl, miso soup and coffee. This vegan poke bowl was awesome. With nearly 10 ingredients, each of them were tasty and the flavour of them went together so well. On top, the teriyaki sauce and mayo gave the bowl a warm, salty , sweet and sour flavour. The pickled tomatoes were especially good, soft, juicy, with a touch of salty taste.
MoreThe coffee wasnt as good as I wouldve expected from this kind of a place. Hot chocolate didnt really taste like chocolate at all. The atmosphere and prices were just like in any other cafe, so nothing special.
MoreExcellent quality coffee, nice design and friendly staff. Its great to find places like this in touristic areas (its a nice break!)
MoreThey have a good coffee machine, but the coffee is prepared in advance, and kept hot in a boiler... the result is not good. They offered glutenfree cakes, but the cakes is stored too closed to the other cakes, therefore there is a serious risk of cross-contamination.
MoreHad a lovely pour over coffee here. It took a while to come but o my because they decided the first batch wasnt good enough. Definitely a sign of a passionate barrista! ☺️ Would recommend
MoreNice coffee. Super sandwiches (smørrebrødand a calming atmosphere.
We stopped off at El Fant during a short visit to Helsinki - nice coffee & drinks, cakes & cookies. Good relaxing vibes, calm interior design and friendly staff. A stones throw from the harbour and cathedral, and a short walk to the central shopping district - would recommend :)
MoreAwesome atmosphere and delicious coffee with the option of oat ly barrista milk without any additional charge!
MoreSometimes when in downtown I plan my daily commute so as to only have an excuse to visit El Fant. El Fant is nothing exceptional, its what you except from the new high quality cafes in Helsinki. Coffee is supplied by Good Life Coffee, so there its so easy, they have my unwavering support. Location is perfect, between the busy Market Square and Senate Square. It feels good to break away from the flow into the side stream and quietness of El Fant. From the owners of Kahvila Sävy.
MoreGreat coffee in the centre of Helsinki, make sure you beat the brunch crowd as this place is popular!
MoreI like brunch where you can nicely sit on the table and the food is served to you. There are not many table service cafes in Helsinki. The food was delicious and my special recommendation goes to matcha latte which was superb. You should reserve a table beforehand, especially on weekends.
MoreSo lovely! The latte was delicious and the atmosphere was good.
The time in between breakfast and lunch didn’t have the best options even though it came up as a brunch spot. The staff was mostly nice just didn’t seem very pleased to see us come in.By the time we left, the lunch buffet looked awesome!! Am guessing we just came in at the wrong time, after the set breakfast and before the set lunch times.Great coffee and cute shop though!
MoreDelicious coffee and great service. Highly recommend!
Great place to escape the busy streets! Tasty coffee served in stylish cups. Very attentive, warm, smiling waitress. You can easily spend hours in here. Go here when you around!
MoreA great little cafe just off the square that is a lovely place to sit for hours with a coffee and cake, with lovely helpful staff. Beware, on sundays theyre usually all booked up for brunch and they close early! The coffee here is great, even for Finland which usually has great coffee, and the cakes are delicious. An easy place to lose several hours.
MoreNice coffee, even for such a tourist-central location. A little small and not much room if youre only getting coffee (when we were there it was busy and the main seats were reserved for people who were eating), but we had a seat and and nice latte.
MoreThe warm oats with peanut butter and banana was a big hit with my gf. My waffles were really tasty too. A perfect start to our short visit in Helsinkii
MoreFriendly staff and excellent coffee. Definately recommend for anyone looking for good espresso coffee in central Helsinki.
MoreOne of my favorite Coffee/Wine place! ☕ 🥂I want to recommend you to try it when you are in helsinki.
MoreA very lovely and quiet, warmly cafe in Helsinki. Delicious cakes and candies, coffee, wines and pastries. Kind and polite staff. Recommended for small groups or lone persons.
MoreThe simple filter coffee I had was probably made in the morning and had stood in the thermos for the whole day - tasted terrible. Interior was clean and tidy but not very cozy.
MoreGreat coffee and a delicious cookie. But what impressed me most was the service that was laid back but great. Dogs are warmly welcomed too.
MoreReally good breakfast and lunch! Vegan options and nice terrace in the backyard. Also the museum is worth visiting.
