El Dokka Restaurant in Aswan

WARNING: The English menu shows prices TWICE as higher as the Arabic menu. In a party of 4 egyptians and 1 foreigner (me), we were imposed the tourist prices. On a good note, the salads and desserts are pretty decent. The rest of the food isnt noteworthy.

The most comfortable place, I feel myself happy and my soul calm in this place, the location unique, beautiful andeasy to find .Food is tasteful, you can eat Nubian meals, and also good variety of vegetarian foods if needed, so no one will stay hungry in this restaurant.Workers are very friendly, polite and helpful,The view on incredible.To reach this place you can just ask anyone in Aswan how to go to Eldokka restaurant, it is located on an island in the Nile river but they have their own ferries to get you to the restaurant, Im a freelance tourist guide and recommend this place.Visit Eldokka restaurant you will not get upset.

Good place and very good view

Lovely view, kind and friendly staff. Nice bread and dips but very ordinary food and overpriced by local standards. We managed to get served in a timely manner albeit without reservations and on a Friday. Bathroom facilities were inadequate for the number of customers they take in. Two poorly situated stalls for women. Shame on them.

Had a nice meal with a great corner view. Most of the party loved the grilled chicken, which I thought was only ok. The Monier fish and Tagen meat with vegetables were good, as was the lentil soup. Tried the Om Ali with nuts, which is best described as a warm cereal that got better after each bite. The kids also enjoyed the chocolate waffle with ice cream.The awkward moment came with the bill. Although a 10% service charge was already applied, I sensed the server wanted more, as he checked the folder after I already paid while cleaning up. Later, he pointed outright to the 10% and told us that was the minimum. We left a couple of bucks and got out of dodge.

Best of the best...amazing location, view and decor. The service is great, the food is very delicious and the drinks too.The have various dishes to please everyone and the prices are convenient. Plus there is an amazing oud player who plays authentic Egyptian songs. Also, they have got their own boats that can get you to the restaurant and back free of charge.

More than excellent... The breath taking view wasnt enough for them so they topped it with the free Nile trip to and from the island, amazing service, great atmosphere and tasty food.I would recommend Al-Dokka for anyone going to Aswan, especially those who are looking for a memorable break by the Nile on a cosy place that suits both families and individuals.

What a wonderful place! The best view and excellent resturant.

Bad experience.. Food quality not as hoped.. Very expensive compared to what you get.. Weird stuff found inside food (in farsi chicken to be specific).

Decent Egyptian food. The restaurant is located on an island by itself and a boat takes you from the corniche area to the restaurant. The boat pier is right next to the Pyramisa Isis pier (next to Judges club). Tried the Tahina, Babaganoush and Kofta. They serve a complimentary bread basket with Nubian "Sun Bread".

One of the best restaurants in Aswan. If youre there, order the grilled steak with mushroom sauce and fries. The prices may come off as high, but in exchange for an amazing view of the nile and delicious food, excellent.

Delightful and unpretentious Nubian restaurant on a secluded Nile island. There is a free ferry that travels frequently to the island, so avoid the boat drivers who want to charge you a fee. The restaurant is simply decorated with large windows to highlight the natural beauty of the river around you.The menu is varied and features everything one would expect of Nubian/Egyptian cuisine. Be warned the pictures are taken from the web and do not actually represent dishes from the restaurant.The food is simple and delicious. Nothing that would make Instagram rave, but it was one of the most delicious meals we ate in Egypt. Save time for a relaxing cup of Nubian coffee in the seating area after.The staff is very attentive and when we were there had multiple persons who could speak English. The restaurant seemed to cater mostly to tourists, which is not unusual of the restaurants we went to in Aswan.El Dokka will be a must return when we are next in Aswan.

It was ok.I think there are probably better choices in Aswan if we are looking for something more authentic.The lighting was off inside - too bright.Food could have been more authentic and local, was hoping they’d have Persch or anything that’s more Nubian.Service was nice and quick, waiters were nice so this review is probably more for management than staff.

You know when you keep your stomach empty preparing to go to the place everyone is talking about and then you just eat because you are hungry not because you like the food!! This is pretty much what happened to us.Good decoration but just regula Egyptian food you would get from any place around the corner in Cairo or Alex. Portions are not that satisfying.. No local dishes

Great view from the restaurant! There’s also AC so it’s a nice escape from the heat. The service was great, the juices were also good, but the food was just ok. The vegetables looks and tastes like they were just from a bag of frozen vegetables. A lot of your groups go here, must be part of a package.

The WORST meal in 14-days trip in Egypt. Terrible food quality with high prices. An interesting fact: many tour guide came in and leading groups of tourists(All foreigners）to have meal in this restaurant. Me and my friends ordered a fish, which is totally NO TASTE. The chicken is not juicy at all and over grilled.

Excellent and healthy fresh food. Plentyful. Went there 3 times and always a pleasure whether seafood or meat. Welcoming staff, nice views, boat trip from Corniche free. It changes from Old Cataracts restaurants, less expensive but as tasty. Go, go, go!!!

Tomato fish was beautiful. So was the beef however the chicken wasnt as good. I would have given 5 stars however they took away the menus we had and gave us different menus with higher prices because we foreigners. They tried to dupe us nonchalantly but failed and hence has been taken into account.

Wow! This restaurant has to be the one of the best experience in Egypt! They have a free ferry on the corniche to pick you up and drop off. The restaurant interiors are so so beautiful with serene view of the Nile and islands around. Now the food: authentic delicious Egyptian cuisine, drinks and desserts:)They also have a cafe for the evening or night hours to relish coffee or tea sitting besides the Nile and under the trees.Great staff, colourful decor, great style!! Try this restaurant for lunch or for dinner, and get mesmerised by the view and the food! Slightly higher on the prices bug a must one time experience !!

Relatively good restaurant! Delicious food! Lovely weather! However they lose a star for the size of the food! You need 2 to 3 meals to get full.

Very small soup bowlThree types of salad were served.. Best was baba ghanog.. Could be the best in my life. Tahina was great too.. Spicy and cleanEven green salad tasted perfect..We had two plates of seafoodOne called monir fish.. Was really special.. Lemon sauce and mustard fish.. Freshly caught from the Nile.. Really nice.. Sauce is uniqueSecond was seafood special they have.. Calamari was OK,.. Fish was simple and good quality.. And two shrimps were really fresh and good...I would rate the food as excellentThe waiter is just a bit too stressed may be.. Doesnt want to smile..There was a guy playing oud live music... Very suitable.. Found it to be ideal with the mood

A very nice island, with an elegant and clean restaurant, while eating you listen to a man playing with the oud musical instrument, and singing Arabic songs, food is with good variety and affordable prices, you must try 😃👌

Very clean, great views of the Nile, and excellent food make this a must visit when in Aswan. We ordered half the menu (large partyand everything was excellent, cooked and seasoned to perfection. You will not be disappointed!!

Nice food and view but quite pricy.It cost EGP150 for main course... is it there is different pricing because we are tourist ?

The food is good and everything went well..and actually we liked the idea of going to the restaurant by boat as its an island in the middle of the Nile river..Great experience , and I would recommend it to everyone specially couples
