El Chinitas - Restaurant in Malaga, Spain
- food wasnt bad but overpriced- found extra stuff on receipt which i didnt order(they didnt even apologize)- rude waitress dont care, unless you re group of foreign seniors, probably they can be scammed easier
Very tasty food and very nice atmosphere! The restaurant is old and its interios looks astonishing! The staff is friendly
Terrible service. Unfriendly and not able to speak any other language and dont even try. Just paid for water and left. Dont waste your time and your beautiful day on this place.
Great service. Great food.
Bad service, arrogant and rude!!! Will NOT come back!!!
The food and drink were nice but what happened next was not what I expected. I had mixed paella, sangria, and fried mixed fish. When I got back to my hotel I found out that my body was covered with red rash (food allergy symptoms), so I had to go to the hospital and spent almost the whole night out fixing this. I had been in Spain for three times and every time I ordered these things I was perfectly okay. So I am not sure what’s responsible.
Perfect paella! Rice, sauce and fish were very tasty and all the ingredients were fresh. We had to wait 30 mins for the chefs to cook the dish (no pre-cooked ingredients), but it was worth the wait!
Good place in the city center. Very delicious paella
I’m not often motivated to review here but it turned out that the dish I ordered was not available, but instead of explaining and offering alternatives the waiter presented me with a dish I had not ordered and did not want, which I found embarrassing and patronising. I asked for the dish to be taken away, but we later found the original unavailable item had been included on the bill. This behaviour takes the reputation of the whole town down, as we left with a negative impression which will make us think twice before coming back to Malaga.
Very reasonable in price and good food, cuttlefish stew/soup was definitely good to eat. Recommended
Sadly, not a great experience. Staff rather brusk, more interested if you’re Spanish, and quite dismissive if, as we were tourists.Food not up to much nether, better places around the area on the side streets.Cantarrana restaurant just around the corner much better option
I really liked this place, friendly staff and decent food. I will be back
Its quite difficult to find a decent paella in Málaga, but the seafood one at El Chinitas is delicious! The rice was perfect - not too hard or overcooked, not too saucy and also perfectly seasoned. Seafood and fish were also fresh. Will definitely come back here.
Paella isn’t good, there was only liiiittle pepper and peas, and both weren’t fresh (frozenand were tasteless, it was « eatable », but nothing tasty!
Best paella I have had so far. I would highly recommend it. Price is reasonable too.
Really amazing food experience. Go ahead and try the house specials. Jibia with chickpeas is a must. The ox tail filled squid is amazing as well.
The best place to eat a paella in malaga! The paella is prepared with fresh fish, the price is very interesting (13€/personne). The service is too nice. I recommand this retaurent! 😍
The food was wonderful. I will definitely be coming back when I return to Malaga.
Food was ok but not great. Menu in English is available but service in English is very hard.
Best restaurant in malaga city, always quality in everything. Cannot be beaten
We had a very tasty paella here and Nawal (our waitresswas just amazing- so helpful and kind! Would definitely recommend this place if you want a real taste of Spain.
I had an amazing meal here, with great service. Having been to several different restaurants here for almost 3 weeks I can tell you that this restaurant is a cut above any other I have tried. My server, Nawal, was professional and courteous, taking the time to recommend and explain several dishes. Also, the decor inside should not be missed.
Unfortunately, like others we had a bad experience here. Waiter was extremely rude. They had run out of both dishes we wanted so just asked for the bill for the 2 drinks we had, this did not go down well with the grumpysaurus rex. I tried to explain that if you dont have what I want Im not gonna eat here! He was very rude. We went to another place on same street and had a great time!
Sorry to say: unfriendly service, impatient and arrogant. We ordered drinks and coffee and after the waiter found out that we dont want to eat anything, he took away our plates and said we have to leave imidiatly. We had to finish our drinks standing.
Well, every restaurant in El Centro de Málaga has a nice location. This one has in addition everything else in a higher quality.
Lovely place and great staff. We had the Andalusian Gazpacho, the Fried Squid, the Goat Salad - probably the best salad I have tasted in my life - and the Shrimp Pil-Pil. Excellent, authentic Spanish food, would recommend!
Regular comida, nice staff but the experience was spoilt by someone smoking 3 times duri g our 2 drinks and tapa on the next table, less than half a meter away.
We picked this restaurant because of the reviews on google maps and I’m pleased to say the positive reviewers were right.Traditional quaint Restaurant with decor you would expect in an old established Spanish restaurant, waiters were smartly dressed and some looked like they had been there since the restaurant opened. Lovely dressed tables with white table cloths. Food and service excellent, cold soup to start with a tasty freshly prepared mixed paella to follow. Toilets clean
We came for lunch, grabbed a table and asked the wonderful woman behind the bar for some paella. She was honest and said it would be made fresh so it would take about 20 minutes. We had some wine and waited and it was the most flavourful paella weve had in Malaga. Worth the wait.
Nice bar and restaurant with bullfighter tradition. We sat at the bar and had a tapas before moving on. Food ok and similar to many restaurants in the area but quite pleasant. Seemed to be a mix of local people and tourists. English and Spanish menus available
Great place, very relaxed ambience. They served the best seafood paella I have eaten in my life. Very friendly staff and there was live piano music that evening. All in all a lovely dinner experience.
Totally unexpected awful experience because the reviews were so great.. arrogant waiter..rude.. ordered appetizers and paella and waited 90 minutes while other tables who came in later were served..Clearly they didnt like English speaking clients... We asked if there was a problem and they just walked away..Left without eating.. recommend you do too
Service was very very bad. Both waiters were very arrogant and unfriendly. We ordered 2 paellas, they were so salty that we could not finish them, you could only taste salt. It was the worst restaurant we went to after 2 weeks of holidays in La Costa del Sol.
Slow (only 2 tables occupied- we ordered 2 main courses & only 1 arrived. After 10 mins we sent the first one back as it was cold. When the 2nd meal arrived the first was returned - still cold.Bread stale. Tried to overcharge.Could not recommend.
Not been here for a while, not disappointed, chef Reme at the helm means the classic dishes are leaving the kitchen as they should doGood mix of freshly prepared tapas such as meatballs in almond sauce, potato salad , broken eggs with Iberian ham to name a few
The mango salmon salad was good but the complimentary paella was just mediocre. Waiters were too busy to pay attention.
best paella ever, fresh, very generous portion with several sea food. the restaurant is in a small charming street, the waiter was friendly. we recommand !!
The best calamari ever, I had tuna it came out a little rare so i asked for it to go back to be well done, congrats to chef, it came back out perfect, waiting staff were patient and understanding. I would really recommend this restaurant. Well done to all , sometimes front of house gets all the comments, but for me it was the chef who listened.
Great paella! They even made us a vegetarian version which was not on the menu. Also nice outside seating. Would definitely recommend!
Beautiful meal. 10/10
Incredible food and service! Left very happy and full, prices are very reasonable too! Will come back next time
Very expensive and soon long waiting time. There was only 2 tables and I had to wait 45min for pork. Tomatos with tuna salad. That wasnt worth 7euros tuna from can mixed with one reayd tomato.
Stay away. It was a terrible experience! The meat was mainly fat and the vegetables was from a can. We walked away and got a very good meal for half the price at a taverna.
So disappointed. Coming here for 30 years and quality and in particular service isnt anymore what it used to be. Food quality was so good in the past and service as good and elegant as it can be. Nowadays: we ordered shrimp carpaccio and there was plastic wrap on top of it. Also the salad underneath the shrimp seemed not to be fresh.
This restaurant is in the top 5 places to eat in Malaga for very good reasons!Excellent food, the waiters are very friendly and the settings are beautifully traditional. You will not regret it :)A great experience!DO NOT CONFUSE THIS PLACE WITH RESTAURANT PLAZA DE CHINITAS.... ITS A RIP OFF!! EL CHINITAS IS PROBABLY AN EXCELLENT PLACE. DONT BE FOOLED BY A SIMILAR NAME. WILL MAKE FOR A BAD EVENING!!
Good service, but I have definitely tried better paella than this, the best food in Malaga is at the local fresh fish and veggie market
It was very busy but the waiter found a table for us. We ordered delicious mixed paella for 2, but it was huge - enough for 4. Totally recommend this place!
Lovely interior great dinner place
Beautiful interior, but food was sadly lacking. In many guide books, but hard to understand why. Must have seen better days as a restaurant. Assorted tapas were dismal.
Great place and wonderful service. I cant say the same thing about the food though. It was simple and a bit overcooked. Maybe it was a one time thing. Everything else was nice. Recommend it!
