Cool hipsterish place in a cool neighborhood. The food was incredible. The staff is very friendly and helpful. If you are around San Jose and you are looking for vegan options, you definitely should try it.Do not forget to check the awesome graffiti outside the cafe.

Whilst writing my review the first thing I considered was, that any veggie/vegan restaurants in this country let alone decent ones are rare. Also, San Jose may have a few, but this is the only one I have tried.The place is in a cool part of town, paid parking behind, very centrally located if coming by bus, the coolest uni students and San Jose workers grace this place for their veggie fix!The staff are attentive, speak great English and the food is fresh and reasonably tasty. It also looks great on your plate, but there is definitely room for improvement in the flavour department. If I were to compare it to similar restaurants in London or even La Fortuna say then there is a big difference.Id only write a particularly negative review if I felt the vibe and overall ethos of this restaurant wasnt moving in a direction of improvement and growth. It is and I enjoyed my meal and health juice.Its 5 stars from me, and I look forward to coming back next year, when I visit Costa Rica again to see what improvements and new dishes have been made! (P.s. take off your masks! 😊)

Un restaurante clásico de las inmediaciones de la UCR, con un menú vegano de muy buena calidad. Quienes atienden lo hacen de una manera súper esmerada, que te hacen sentir sumamente cómodo. La nueva decoración es muy agradable, te gusta sentarte ahí a leer o simplemente descansar. Finalmente, las opciones del menú son excelentes así como las opciones del menú del día. Vayan, lo pasarán genial.

This is hands-down one of the best restaurants we have ever tried! We tried 5 different dishes and each one was so delicious, we cant wait to go back and try more options. In addition their service is so quick and the place is so clean and beautiful. If you can only go to one restaurant in San Jose, make sure you visit El Buho, it’s that good!!

El Buho es un lugar al que voy cuando puedo (que por leganía es de vez en cuando un par de veces al año a lo muchome ALEGRA que siempre mantengan la calidad y no se duerman en los laureles, 100% recomendado, mi plato favorito es la hamburguesa de falafel pero el plato del día NUNCA falla!

Unbelievable vegan food! I had the plate del dia and wasnt disappointed. The fresh pasta and the sauce was crazy good! Nice to find a vegan place that puts so much care and effort into their food, and most importantly seasons it to perfection! Found my new spot

We went for lunch and the staff was great! Sadly one of our two lunches was really not enjoyable, otherwise we would have given more stars, because the drinks and the cookies & pastries were absolutely fantastic (and dairy- and glutenfree!)

Me gusta la repostería pero últimate no he tenido suerte con la calidad de la misma. Me han tocado galletas que parecen crudas ya varias veces (dejé de comprarlas eventualmentey una porción de volcado de piña demasiado dulce (no creo que fuera la intención de la cocina).Es un lugar tranquilo para pasar a tomar un café.

Didn’t get to try the food, but we loved the vibe & the fresh baked cookies! Black coffee was good, but heads up the menu’s cappuccino was almond milk foam on top of milky coffee (not the foamed consistency of an espresso drink). Rad views of street art if you sit by the entrance!

No fue una buena experiencia. Ya conocía el lugar, así que hoy fuimos a almorzar. Recibimos un sandwich caprese con el queso maduro y las papas fritas, frías de la refri al plato, increíble. Seguro ya las tenían hechas, pero no las calentaron antes de servirlas. Y la atención no fue muy buena tampoco. Es una pena porque el lugar es lindo. Siento que ya fue mejor.

Delicious food, but they are not fast.

Me gustó mucho el lugar. No soy vegetariano pero no tengo problemas si no como carne y este lugar tiene buenas opciones que hacen que no extrañes el no comerla. Los precios accesibles y la atención muy amable. La razón por la que no le pongo 5 estrellas es que pedí un te con leche, la cuál iba aparte. Pero me trajeron la tetera con las hierbas para la infusión y leche caliente para hacer la infusión... Esto por lógica no se puede hacer, así que no se cómo tomaron la decisión de hacer esto.

Tastes reaaally good! Staff is very friendly. Theres lots of dishes to choose from so you can try lots of new things. The only reason why I dont give them 5 stars is because they didnt have many ingredients on the menu so I had to look at other options, but it was still very good!

El ambiente del lugar es muy tranquilo, cómodo, amigable. La atención es muy buena, todas las veces que he ido me han atendido rápido, de manera amable y saben bien el menú. Recomiendo mucho el plato del día, ya que no es caro y siempre son muy buenos. Las cremas o sopas son riquísimas y el plato fuerte ni qué decir. El refresco también es muy rico.

Great vegan food and pastries, very good coffee.I had the portobello burger which was juicy and tasty finished it so fast and forgot to take a pix. Wife had the falafel bowl and loved it.Super nice service and laidback atmosphere.

I met up with a friend at El Búho and found it to be an all-around pleasant experience. She ordered a coffee, while my "traveling cube" and I enjoyed the Tumeric Chai tea. It was beautifully presented and accompanied by raw cane sugar and almond milk foam.The prices were comparable to a Starbucks, but with the hipster ambience known for this part of San Jose, Costa Rica; although I did not get a chance to sample their food options. If I come here again, Id love to try something else on the menu; their vegetarian-friendly options look plentiful and the service was remarkable! 😋😍 #lovejonezin

Voy una vez por semana, casi como un ritual. La comida suele ser bastante buena (en una o dos veces no lo ha sido tanto , pero solo al compararla con las otras veces que he comido aquí). Es una buena opción para comer saludable, ya sea porque eres vegetariano o porque quieres explorar qué tan buena puede ser la comida vegetariana (pista para los que no imaginan un almuerzo sin carne: la comida vegetariana es un reencuentro con los sabores). Es un ambiente relajado, aunque se puede llenar mucho si vas a las 12 en punto o dependiendo del menú del día (ciertos platillos se venden más rápido que otros). Para un café o te está muy bien, acompañado con un libro o alguna amable compañía.
