El Balneario - Baños del Carmen - Bar & grill in Malaga, Spain
Can only confirm my previous recommenders, outstandingly poor service (except the waiter with the tattoos).
Great place with a really nice character. Beware them serving you an 80 euros calamari though and justifying it by saying "you were many". We were 4. Not impresssed.
Wonderful place to breathe in the Mediterranean while delighting your senses and taste buds.
I was not impressed. However, the place is nice to have long dinner.
Booked one week in advance. Know Malaga food scene very wellFood 4, location 5, service 1. Overall 3Restaurant half full when we came. Table was anyhow made while we sat. Used. Wife’s starter came 15 minutes before mine. Her croquettes were very good, but served with industrial potato frittered. My gazpacho malaguese was very good. Her main course was noted out of supply half way into my main course. When we informed we were good they suddenly found new supplies. Her main, steamed mussels and my pisto with lemon fish were good. Service was really faulty towers. That personnel was more busy closing down than serving us didn’t help eitherWith the fantastic food scene in malaga, don’t be bothered with el balneario
Superb beachfront location and people watching! The food was a little mixed the Malaga fish soup was delicious and I like anything we’ve tried before. The codfish with aioli was disappointing. Worth the experience on balance
The view from the restaurant is very nice, nice food but very slow service.
Very nice place . Fantastic wiew and good food.
Great views, great food and great service. Hard to fault! Try the lomo de lubina, you wont be disappointed
Easily the best restaurant in malaga...delicious food...friendly staff and a beautiful location...love it
Waiting for 30 minutes to order. The waiter didnt bother to show up. We finally left. Shame.
A wonderful place to have lunch or dinner with views of Malaga city. Probably best experienced at dinner time on the huge terrace with great sunsets over the mountains and the city of Malaga.
Worse gastronomic experience in Malaga. We had lunch on a Wednesday when it wasnt that busy, but it took the waitress 15min to bring the menus and because my partner got up and ask personally. Heaps of waiter staff but no one looks at you. We had to ask a couple of times about the food that we ordered, took ages (>20minto arrive. Food is overpriced with low quality. We will never be back.
Great view, they have gluten free bread (not for hamburger)
Very bad service. They forgot our order and even did not ask an excuse. No respect at all. We left the restaurant without eating. I would put even 0 rating.
Beautiful location and good food. But terrible service. Half of our order was missing. The sound check for a private event was a nuisance. The waiters are not hospitable at all.
Very unfriendly staff who don’t speak any English! Claimed we couldn’t have on of the nice tables, because of reservations, but the restaurant remained 90% empty during our entire stay. Dirty tablecloths! Great views though…
The floor outside, the tables and chairs fairly old and outdated. Simple light bulbs which gave it a little bit cheap feeling. Food was O.K, could be better.
Good food good location and good menu. Nice place to eat drink and enjoy the beautiful sea views. Good menu with lots of fish and meat options. Great drinks very good service too.
Worst service ever, had to remind twice for them to bring our drinks. They never brought part of the order and the bathroom was very very dirty, I’ll spare you the details. Also it took forever for them to bring our change back. Nice view of the bay. But you might as well sit on a bench outside.
Dreadful service. Asked for a high chair 3 times and it never arrived , had to go get our own menus cos nobody gave us menus. The food was mediocre and more expensive than other restaurants in the area. A tourist trap.
Amazing restaurant with a great view of the sea. Drinks and food are great and the staffs are so friendly.
Beautiful set up and decent quality food.We have been to Baños del Carmen for lunch on a saturday. The place was very crowded but there are plenty of wait staff so the service was ok.The place is big and has sea views from almost everywhere.Food was slightly disappointing but overal a nice meal. The large squid made in the espeto (bbqwas really good.Deserts also ok but not great.Would go back again to try other dishes and to enjoy eating outdoors.
Have the grilled sardines for starters and any of the fish as main course! 👍🏻
Driving past, you might think it’s touristy and overpriced. I had to find out and am happy to report: not true. It really is just a beautiful place, great food, nice staff, awesome views out onto Málaga harbor and the sea… parking’s a challenge tho, best come on foot
Location is amazing. Food is good as well, portions are big. Terrace chairs and tables can use an upgrade
This is a beautiful location but you won’t get a good table next to the sea or on the terrace if you don’t book. The food is pretty large. 3 plates, some bread and a couple of fizzy waters will run you around €30
On Saturday July 24, my father, my stepmother and I went to this restaurant and my experience wasn’t very good.First of all, when we arrived to the restaurant, we had to wait a long time for someone to tell us where we could sit.Once we found a place to sit, we ordered our drinks. My father ordered larios with fanta, my stepmother a mojito and I wanted to order a nesthea, but they were sold out and I had to order a coke. The waiter took a long time to bring our drinks, and when they arrived they were not the correct ones! However, that wasn’t the only mistake they made. Later, a waiter left two plates of food on our table that weren’t for us.And finally, when we asked for the bill, we realized that they had charged us a nesthea that we hadn’t consumed.I have to say that not everything was negative. I loved the views and I took a lot of photos. Also, I liked the music and the afternoon was very cool.I give the restaurant 2 stars out of 5, because I think there are many things that could be better.I hope my review has helped you. Here are some photos of the visit.
One of the best Restaurant along the coast with Malaga’s panorama. Fresh Fish, rice, tapas and meat. All what you want to stay well and confortable with your girlfriend or family. The staff are Professional and kind, the restaurant has a terrace with bar.
One of my favourite places in town. Get there early to get one of the best tables. You may feel some sea waves splashing next to you. Food is good, service is excellent. You can now access the forest next to it on foot.
Everything was very nice, although nothing was amazing.Portions were decently big, and we could have had just a starter each.Service was fast and friendly.
Great view. Great food. Better to make a reservation of the table.
Spanish evening with great food and top service. And all this in a beautiful atmosphere directly at the ocean. If you can, go there in the evening and enjoy the sunset with some red wine and the great food.Maybe you are lucky and there is also some life music.I had such evening due to a special event and it was awesome... great... no other words about this.
Been here a number of times and the service is getting worse and worse. Waiting for 50 minutes for some attention is just awful.Disappointing because the venue is great and the food is not bad. But paying a premium for bad service is not something I want to do.
Not a crystal clear five star score but all in all we had a good time. We came early to reach the sunset. We had the goat cheese salad as a starter. Very good indeed. The grilled brass was perfect with vegetables on the side. My fried squid was ok. They could have let them stayed one more minute in the fry. Waiters was there for us, not to enthusiastic but nothing to complain about. Nice view all the way. Very popular on this Tuesday in August. Gluten free alternatives. Wheelchair access also at WC. No parking as we saw it, parking in the street. Bus stop outside.
Lots of people..mostly teenagers partying and grilling. Really nice view from the top. You can see the whole beach.
The best place to witness the Malaga sunset at 270 degrees. Great location to cherish the changing colours. Good restaurant to enjoy the evening wine, along with great food.
Awesome place, good views. Food is amazing especially from the fire. Order the calamares en espeto, the tuna tartar and the gambas !
A good place for a coffee or typical local seafood with great views of the city and surrounding area as well as the Mediterranean
Nice place, good food, service was very good. Waiters are professional and friendly. The best we like -location by the sea🏝
Nice grilled fish. Service not the best. The type of place everything is expected to be takin care by the view
Dont let the scenery fool you. The wait staff have their heads up their butts. After several attempts to order our meal they only brought half of it. Even after several additional attempts to get them bring our complete order they did not.The atmosphere is nice and thats the only reason they get two stars. Food was descent but nothing special.Wine selection was typical of the area but when we ordered a second bottle of the same wine they brought us a more expensive bottle and did not notify us so beware of the bait and switch. We will not return and we do not recommend . In fact I would say steer clear.of this train wreck.
Just sit outside and look at the stunning view. Real Spanish restaurant with nice fish dishes. Its a bit outdmside city centre but rent a bike and drive along the beach.
A fine restaurant literally by the sea! The restaurant’s terrace has a great atmosphere and a beautiful view to the sea. It has a beach just beside it so during our lunch we even went for a quick swim. On the negative side, it is a bit expensive and the waiters kept pressuring us presenting successive bills during our afternoon here.
Not the cheapest (9 euros for paras Bragas and 4.50 for sardines vs 2 in other places), but worth the food and service... Oh and just a mention of one of the best sea views in the city!
One of my favorite places in Malaga. Have been here a few times in December 2017. Sat outside enjoying the sea view and the amazing sunset. Good mainly for aperitivo and a quick bite. Very lively and crowded mainly of local people, often with live music.Affordable prices, probably not the best for food.
Simply... the BEST "by the sea" restaurant that you can hope for, in Malaga ! That is, if you are planning to have lunch from 3pm til XXpm, on an outstanding outdoor terrasse, with your feet toes pretty much close to the sea !Besides this amazing location, the service is swift, the food is good (not deliciousand the prices are acceptable given the upper class standing of this "more than just another chiringuito"And, from May til September, youll get a live music performance AND you will see locals dans the "Sevillana" !!What else ?
El balneario in Málaga is one of the jewels of the Costa del Sol. With spectacular views of Málaga city and the coastline toTorremolinos it is a great place to have a drink or a great meal. The service from the waiters is very Andalucian, you can wait a while, but the view and the atmosphere is wonderfully relaxing. If you come to Málaga city its a must visit place.
A nice place with excellent location at the shore. The service was friendly and the food was tasty.
Perfect for sunset. Beautiful views. Friendly staff. A gem of a place complete with more joy than words can say. They give you a bucket full of hot coal to put under the table when it gets cooler
